The former Commissioner for Works and Transport, Eng Oluremi Omowaiye was on Friday evening attacked by suspected PDP thugs in Ilesa, damaged his vehicles and seriously injured his entourage.

He was attacked at popular Isida Spare part Market in Ilesa, Ilesa West Local Government while he led some leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ilesa to present Xmas gifts to the spare parts maketers.

APC Youth Leader, ward 3 Ilesa West, Opeyemi Oke , Tosin Adanlawo, a member of APC, Mr Odekunle, Mr Ojo Agboola, Mr Junior Olaojaoke were critically injured and currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

The suspected assailants were led by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) includes ; Bayo Falade (Landlord) Rotimi Ojo (Rotimi Abu) Basit Alli (Basty) Tope Ilelowowa, Nurudeen Alowonle who were alleged to be shooting sparodically and trowing various object at the ex commissioner and his entourage.

An Eyewitness said Omowaiye had earlier fixed appointment with the market leaders to present Xmas gift which includes Cow and and bags of rice to the spare part sellers and during the process of presentation, some hoodlums led one Bayo Falade surfaced and began to shoot directly at the gathering and throwing various dangerous object to disrupt the gathering and directly aimed at the fomer commissioner vehicle.

The eyewitness who did not want his name mention in print said the hoodlums were shouting "PDP ! Power " while attacking the former commissioner and the spare part maketers who were standing with him.

Omowaiye's Toyota Highlander was riddled with bullets while belongings of the victims including mobile phones were charted away.

Meanwhile, a very closed aid to the fomer commissioner said the matter has been reported at the Police Area Command, Ayeso, Ilesa.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has admitted that there was over-voting in the July 16 governorship election that brought in Ademola Adeleke as Governor of Osun State.

A Deputy Director in the ICT department of the INEC, Mrs Abimbola Oladunjoye disclosed this while giving evidence before the Election Petition Tribunal hearing the petition filed by Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the election.

Being cross-examined by the Petitioners' counsel, Chief Akin Olujinmi SAN, Oladunjoye who was referred to as a star witness of INEC admitted that in Ward 4 unit 7, Ede South Local Government, there is an over-voting of 75, as the figure of accreditation on the BVAS report presented by INEC is 313, while the result on form EC8A is 383.

Oladunjoye's attention was also drawn to paragraph 21.36 of his witness statement where she stated that the accreditation figure was 830, but in the BVAS report presented by INEC, the figure of accreditation is 793, admitting that there was an over voting of 37.

The witness also admitted that in paragraph 26.7 of his witness statement, there is an accreditation figure of 402, while the accreditation figure on the INEC BVAS report was 263, admitting that there is an over voting of 139.

Also in paragraph 23.24 of his witness statement, Oladunjoye agreed that the accreditation figure she mentioned was 448, while the accreditation figure on BVAS was 224, admitting that there is an over voting of 224.

The witness who said under cross examination that she was not a Presiding Officer on the election day said, it is only the Presiding Officers that have explanation on what transpired at the polling units on the election day.

The INEC representative who admitted that she signed and certified a BVAS report for the Petitioners, further said that the copy of the report was different from the one issued to the respondents, adding that she never indicated that the report issued to the Petitioners was an interim document which would be subjected to synchronisation.

She testified that the synchronisation was done after election result had been declared on July 17, 2022 and BVAS report had been issued to the Petitioners on July 27, 2022.

Done with the cross examination of the witness, Chief Olujinmi hinted that the irregularities identified in the BVAS report presented by INEC was just a tip of an iceberg, saying, there are loads of over-voting during the election.

Earlier, the tribunal had admitted as exhibits the load of BVAS machines and CTC of Form EC8 series brought to the tribunal by the INEC counsel.

After the Cross examination of the witness, the INEC counsel, Professor Ananaba informed the court that he would no longer be calling any other witness, as he applied to close his case.

Counsel for Adeleke, Onyeachi Ikpeazu subsequently opened his defence by tendering form EC8 series used for the election.

However, the tribunal raised issue as to the safe custody of the BVAS machine tendered and admitted in evidence, as the panel ordered that the machines should be kept in the Central Bank Vault in Osogbo.
The tribunal then adjourned till tomorrow, Thursday.

LAGOS State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has launched the long awaited Metroline from Mile 2 to Marina on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

The highly elated Governor took to his Official Twitter Page to express his gladness over his dream project temporarily disrupted in 2020 by the ENDSARS riots but now came to reality.

Sanwo-Olu wrote, "
"Lagos, We have done it. As I sat in the beautiful airconditioned coach today, I smiled. A promise that has kept me up at night has finally been completed.
The first phase of the Blue Line Metro station running from Mile 2 to Marina has now been completed.
126 years after the first tram system that connected the mainland to the island, this first phase of the Blue Line is done.
COVID 19, civil unrests and other incidents that meant work had to shutdown for months came but we were determined to pursue this to its completion. 
In January 2023, this project will be commissioned, beginning operations and also simultaneously flagging off the construction of Phase 2 (Mile 2 to Okoko).
For long term sustainability, we have developed an Independent Power Project which supplies electricity for the Metro line."

AIRLINES Operators of Nigeria on Tuesday announced flight disruptions as a result of Aviation Fuel Scarcity in the country.

In a Press Release signed by the Spokesman of the association, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo (OFR) available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, it informed the general public of impending disruptions of fright due to aviation fuel scarcity.

This is coming at a time the PMS otherwise known as Petrol is beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians at a time everyone is planning to travel for the Yuletide seasons.

"the scarcity will in no doubt force Airlines to reschedule their flights leading to late operations and, or, cancellations."

A bold female kidnap victim identified as Lucy Jeremiah, who was abducted by a nine-man kidnap gang in Plateau State, has narrated how she fought the kidnappers in the forest to escape from where she was held captive.

It was learnt that the kidnappers abducted Jeremiah and three other victims while they were travelling in a vehicle to Jos, Plateau State, from Abuja on Thursday.

The victim, who was still in trauma, told our correspondent in Jos on Monday at the Plateau State Police Command Headquarters where she was recuperating, that she handed her life over to God before she summoned the courage to fight the kidnappers.

She said, “What happened was that we were coming back from Abuja to Jos in a vehicle last Thursday. On getting to the Government Science School, Kuru, in the Jos South LGA of Plateau State around 6pm, though I was sleeping in the vehicle, I woke up when the vehicle suddenly stopped. When I woke up, I saw a man wielding a gun. He opened the door and said we should give him our phones.

“He collected all our phones and money. He thereafter selected four of us in the vehicle and marched us into the bush. The kidnappers, numbering nine, asked us to call our parents on phone and demanded N5m each. After we made the calls, they took us farther into the bush and out of the four persons, I was the only female among them.”

The victim said as they went deep into the bush, she suggested to others an escape plan, but they were afraid.

She said, “They said they could not do anything because they were not with any weapon to fight the kidnappers, who were with a gun, a knife and other weapons.

“By this time, some of the kidnappers, who were initially nine, had left, leaving four of them with us.

“As we marched deeper into the bush, two of the four kidnappers were trailing behind, while two others with the gun and knife were leading us in front.
.
“At this time, I told my co-traveller victims that we should do something and that I will not follow the kidnappers any farther into the bush to wherever they were taking us to and that God would be in control. I also told them what to do as I suggested to them that I would be the first person to grab the kidnapper carrying the gun while they should come to my assistance if anything happened and that was what I did.

“So, when I grabbed the kidnapper with the gun, the other kidnapper holding a knife rushed forward and wanted to stab me in the stomach. But as I turned, he missed his target

The victim could not continue the interview as she broke down in tears.
However, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident, adding that the other victims, who were rescued by the police alongside the lady, had been taken to a hospital for treatment.

He said, “We have four victims that were rescued and it happened somewhere in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on December 15. A team of police detectives traced them to Kassa Forest in the Barkin Ladi LGA, where they came in contact with the kidnap victims, including Lucy Jeremiah and three others. She (Jeremiah) was found unconscious with deep cuts in her leg and the other victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended.”

FORMER Commissioner of Information and Strategy in Lagos State, Dele Alake dragged former Media Aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reuben Abati in the mud over his insistence to bring the APC Presidential candidate to participate in the Arise TV/ThisDay Townhall meeting organized by Nduka Obaigbena.

There had been fireworks between the media team of APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Bayo Onanuga, Dele Alake and the Chairman of Arise TV/ThisDay, Obaigbena over alleged drug allegation against Tinubu and his non appearance at the Town Hall Meeting.

In a viral video on social media monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, Alake indicted Abati who is the Anchorperson for the debate.

Alake said Abati has no moral justification to anchor the program because he is a member of the opposition PDP.

'Arise TV is not the only medium in Nigeria, there are over 100 media houses in Nigeria. How can you now arrogate to yourself as a Spokesperson of entire media house in Nigeria. Who conferred that status on you? Nobody!
The Anchor of the Arise/ThisDay Townhall meeting is Abati, he is a member of PDP. How can someone in good conscience expect Asiwaju, the APC candidate to present himself to the PDP guilloten machine anchored by a PDP member, Reuben Abati to be interviewing Asiwaju.
Who does that? Is that a free Press?

THE only formidable giant network provider in Nigeria, no doubt, is the MTN but the name and their goodwill of many years can no longer be identified with the popular slogan, "Anywhere you go" they professed.

Lately, it has been, "anywhere you go," there is poor and frustrating services to their subscribers who strained themselves to either buy recharge cards for calls or  data for online business transactions or social engagements.

The effectiveness of MTN over the weeks have waned to the extent that people are complaining of bad network services both in calls and in social media.

The current trend now, is for you to call a friend who will hear you speaking while it will be impossible for the other party to hear from you meanwhile, the your call credit is burning.

It takes longer minutes if not hours to send message across social media contacts thereby wasting ones time and exhausting hard earned resources.

Ordinarily, in the past, MTN will send text messages to their subscribers to apologize for poor service and their failure to meet subscribers standard as it was their normal practices; that was "the good old days."

It is frustrating when one could no longer make any emergency calls when one's life is danger or when you want to make an urgent business calls or send message across to your clients or customers.

I decided to write this article having waited for two weeks thinking that the poor Network services will be corrected but alas! things are getting worse.

This has compelled me to publicise my complaint having in mind that it has become a general issue everywhere. It is very disturbing for your message or link to load for hours when you did not procure data on credit. As at the time of writing this article, I still have data balance of 37GB yet the network is as bad as it used to be for over two weeks.

Presently, MTN kept mute as if they are giving their subscribers best services.

They have taken us for granted for too long while subscribers are suffering in silence and money are burning into the Network Provider's bank accounts.

MTN is not the only network providers whose services have failed, Glo and Airtel is a no-go area. I am only involved because I use over 80% of my earnings on MTN Network services.

To worsen the matter, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) pretended as if all is well with Nigerians using these network providers as if they have forgotten their statutory roles.

It has been complaint galores on Radio and TV call-in programs across the nation.

If this issue is not resolved immediately, it will pose as  obstacles and barriers to the smooth running of the 2023 general elections especially for the use of BVAS machines.

MTN, GLO, AIRTEL, please braze up your services, Nigerians are suffering in silence and wasting much resources under this harsh economic climate.

THE Osun State Commissioner of Finance, Bola Oyebamiji under the past administration of Adegboyega Oyetola has labelled the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke a liar over the recent N407 billion indebtedness credited to his predecessor

Oyebamiji in his Press Statement available to SOJ WORLDWIDE said he is with "the true position of things."

Oyebamiji in his analysis as the Commissioner of Finance in charge of the finances of the state gave all amounts of loans and the dates all the loans were procured.

He went further to state the amounts Oyetola left behind as cash-in-hand and the banks in custody of the funds contrary to the claim of the incumbent administration that nothing will be left in the State treasury after the payment of November salaries.

THE FALLACY OF HALF-TRUTH BY GOVERNOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE: THE TRUE POSITION OF OSUN FINANCES UNDER GOVERNOR ADEGBOYEGA OYETOLA (PART 1)

The recent comments by Governor Ademola Adeleke on the position of the debt of Osun state under Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is a reflection of the combative and vindictive posture, yet again, of Governor Adeleke against my principal, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. It is purely a campaign of calumny against a people-centric government. For the umpteenth time, the true picture of the finances of the state is not hidden; the Annual Auditor-General’s report and the reports from the Debt Management Office (Osun and Abuja) are available for scrutinu.

The latest comments of the incumbent governor to the effect that Governor Oyetola accessed a loan facility after the July 2022 gubernatorial election is nothing but a lie. The current government would have won an iota of credibility for itself if the details of the loan including the figure and the creditor were mentioned. Just to let you know, as captured in the address of Governor Oyetola on the 26th of November, 2022, the Government of Osun did not take any bank loan under his watch. What the state benefited from, like the 35 other states of the Federation, which was well publicized at the time (see The Punch Newspaper (punchng.com) of 19th November 2021), was the monthly intervention from the Federal Government which commenced in December 2021 and terminated in June 2022!

This support was to cushion the effect of deductions from the budget support facility and salary bailout accessed by the previous government. One then wonders how support from the Federal Government which started in December 2021, as contained in the document released by the current government itself, turned into a facility sought and accessed after the July 2022 election is beyond comprehension.
Of significant importance is the half-truth presented by Governor Adeleke about the true position of the state’s debt portfolio. For instance, one is at a loss about how the government will report the position of the state debt, leaving out very vital information such as the dates of procurement. In accounting, it is elementary knowledge that no valid amortization schedule can be presented by a competent accountant without a valid date of procurement.

1) For clarity, the State Bond of N30,000,000,000.00 at 14.75% started in September 2014;
2) The Sukuk of N11,400,000,000.00 at 14.75% started in May 2013


3)  The FGN Bond of N86,671,281,863.41 at 14.83% started in August 2015; 
4) The Salary Bail-out of N25,871,920,000.00 at 9% started in September 2015;
5) The FGN Budget Support Facility of N17,569,000,000.00 at 9% commenced in July 2016;
6) The FGN Special Intervention Fund of N4,000,000,000.00 (interest-free) was accessed in 2017;
7) The Excess Crude Account (ECA) Secured Term Loan of N10,000,000,000.00 at 9% was accessed in February 2016;
And the Central Bank of Nigeria Development Fund (ECA2) of N5,000,000,000.00 at 9% started in June 2017.

Where then is the commercial loan traced to the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola? As presented above, all these loans were procured between 2013 and 2017 before the advent of the administration of Governor Oyetola.

The question then is where is the loan procured by Governor Oyetola and who is the lender?

Also, the claim that Governor Oyetola owed workers salaries and pensions to the tune of N76Bn is unfounded.

The salary and pension arrears figure mentioned by Governor Adeleke was owed by the previous government and I challenge the current government to present any available facts to the contrary.

Characteristically, the lie that the government of Governor Oyetola did not leave any money in the coffers of the State has yet sold the infant administration of Governor Adeleke shot.

Again, as contained in the documents made available to the new government, the following balances were available to the State as of November 26, 2022:
1) Non-IGR Accounts: FAAC Accounts meant for Salaries = N3,541,950,501.26 (N1,106,634,659.87 (First bank Plc) 
2) OSSG VAT Account = N2,435,315,841.39 (Sterling bank Plc);
3) LAUTECH Refund  Account with Wema Bank Plc = N1,563,832,985.78;
4)  Ecological Fund with United Bank for Africa = N1,206,756,053.65;
5) Other Non-IGR Balances in Various Bank Accounts = N3,284,899,623.16; Revenue Collection in Various Bank Accounts = N2,234,916,050.36;
6) SUKUK Bond Proceed Accounts = N5,358,332.13;
7) Tranche 1 Bond Proceed Accounts = N9,853,250.90;
Sinking Fund for Credit Agency with WEMA Bank Plc= N2,000,000,000.00; a
9) Sinking Fund on OBOPS with Sterling Bank Plc= N202,423,426.11.
10) Thus, the total money left in the state's coffers as of 26th November 2022 stood at N14,049,990,223.35.

Any contrary information to the one presented here should be publicized with verifiable facts.

Consequently, it is important to remind the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke that public finance remains public. No amount of effort to deliberately circumvent fact can change what is publicly available.

The Government of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola promised to run a transparent government and it did until the last day in office to the commendation of well-meaning Nigerians and the international community.

It will therefore serve the current government well to be serious and deploy its energy towards governing the state rather than fighting an imaginary enemy with half-truth. Government is a continuum and it must be seen as such.

FORMER Editor-in-Chief of TheNews, Bayo Onanuga and former Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dele Alake took on the Chairman of ThisDay and Arise TV, Nduka Obaigbena over his insistence  that the Presidential Candidate of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu must participate in the Town Hall meeting organized by the ARISE TV.


The Press Statement released by the trios of Obaigbena, Onanuga and Alake came late for publication because SOJ WORLDWIDE website malfunctioned after it exceeded its bandwidth for over 72 hours.

 We had earlier published two sides of the Press Statements of these respected veteran journalists for public consumption. This is the concluding part for now.

PRESS STATEMENT
Obaigbena lies again without shame as he manufactures alternate reality
Ordinarily, we consider it beneath us as well-bred media professionals to continue to engage in public spat with Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, a congenital blackmailer and hustler, especially in deference to ceasefire calls by well-meaning leaders and elders.

The interventions followed our statement on Monday entitled “Obaigbena and His THISDAY/ARISE News’ Hypocritical Grandstanding On Public Morality”.

But we crave the indulgence of these well-meaning Nigerians to allow us respond to Obaigbena’s latest rambling, called a statement.

The largely diversionary composition was an attempt to deodorise his ethical problems.

Obaigbena tried to deflect attention from those pertinent issues we raised about ethics. There is nothing he said to creditably detract a jot from our accurate summation of his well-known perverse and ignoble approach to media practice over the years, a practice that continues to undermine the integrity of journalism profession in the country.

In his first statement attacking us, Obaigbena craftily attempted to mis-characterise as an attack on free speech, our principled stand against his blackmail to have Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu appear on Arise TV and its PDP sponsored Town Hall meetings.

In the second statement, he was still adamant that our candidate must attend his Town Hall debate, despite our stance that our candidate is already executing another communications strategy to reach the most important target: the Nigerian voters.

We, repeat again: We will not make our candidate available to validate a scheme which, in the light of unassailable information at our disposal, is nothing but a racket by the Arise TV owner, designed to embarrass our candidate.

We now proceed to give a blow-by-blow response to Obaigbena’s latest very poor attempt at red-herring:
Rigmarole on Dasukigate:

How laughable that Obaigbena is now denying he was not in EFCC custody for receiving illicit funds from NSA Sambo Dasuki. He attempted to rationalise that the money received was compensation for losses incurred by newspaper proprietors following the clampdown by security agents.

But he craftily glossed over the meat of the matter: the grave misconduct to have the funds paid into the bank account of Hydrocarbon, a shell company (obviously set up for money-laundering) to which Obaigbena was the sole signatory.

Since NPAN has bank accounts, why was the money not transferred there directly?

Moreover, the petty lie in Obaigbena’s statement was punctured by the joint disclaimer issued on 12 December 2015 by Tribune, New Telegraph and Peoples Daily in whose names he had collected money.

The three newspapers said they did not receive a kobo.

His claim that he pocketed the chunk of the money received from Dasukigate as compensation for the alleged terrorist attack on his Abuja office is a laughable afterthought.

2. Rewriting June 12 story: Contrary to Obaigbena’s lame attempt to rationalise his campaign against June 12 as action taken in furtherance of his membership of NRC, nothing can be further from the truth.

His long story about sitting close to MKO Abiola on a London-Johannesburg flight begs the questions.

He craftily sidestepped the issue of being recruited by the military regime to go on CNN to unconscionably declare “Abiola did not win any election”, shortly after NEC suspended the announcement of June 12 results.

That dirty campaign was to prepare the grounds for the eventual annulment on June 23 of the election.

If Obaigbena was pro-democracy as he falsely claims, why did he take up media consultancy work to Ernest Shonekan, the Head of the Interim National Government, cobbled together by the junta to legitimise the illegality?

3. South African/London fiascos: Obaigbena also tried to downplay the gravity of his misadventure in South Africa for which he had to flee, abandoning his office equipment and furniture till today.

On one hand, he lied that it was President Nelson Mandela who asked that he set up the newspaper in South Africa because the dominant newspapers in the country were owned by the white establishment. On the other hand, he claimed that the same white establishment frustrated his venture. He forgot that when he floated ThisDay South Africa in 2003-4, a black President was in power!

Contrary to claims that he met a hostile environment, his habitual unethical practices gave him out. His business model of funding his newspapers and a champagne lifestyle from proceeds of blackmail rackets fell flat in South Africa where rules of a good society are rigidly enforced.

To deceive advertisers, he inflated his circulation figures which the regulatory agency frowned at.

Also, he owed printers and his workers. Gale of complaints against the “carpetbagger from Nigeria” soon reached the authorities and one official was quoted as famously saying, “You call yourself Thisday, very soon it will become That-day”.

This prophecy came to pass with chilling accuracy soon after.

On his misadventure in London, Obaigbena disingenuously put it down to Forex crisis as if it happened this year or last year. The details of the judgment by the presiding judge were damning enough: Obaigbena lacks the personal honour and integrity to run any decent company.

His claim that his seven year directorship ban has been appealed is not the full story.

He already lost one appeal at the Chancery in August.
4. Payment of salaries/pension: Obaigbena tried to deflect his chronic indebtedness as something common in the media industry.

It is an affliction peculiar to THISDAY/Arise which purports to make lots of money (as reflected by bumper advert patronage) but curiously still fails to pay workers as and when due.

Even when the economy was relatively “good”, Obaigbena never paid workers regularly.

His popular saying to staff, as well known in the industry, is that : “THISDAY/Arise ID card alone is your meal ticket”.

Such corrupt philosophy underlies the unethical practices in media companies run by Obaigbena.

A classic illustration of the untold hardship and dehumanization of his workers was provided by Mr. Paul Ibe, who is now the Special Adviser on Media to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Obaigbena tricked Ibe to South Africa with mouth-watering offers. But Ibe ended up enduring hunger there before finding his way back to Nigeria. Following a suit filed at the National Industrial Court in 2011 (suit no NICN/ABJ/26/2011), Mr. Ibe was awarded damages against Obaigbena for backlog of salaries, non-remittance of taxes and pension deducted from his wages over the years and outstanding entitlement.

Tens of other staff of Thisday have died due to lack of money for medical care while awaiting Obaigbena to pay them their entitlements.
5. Open partisanship/Mefy racket: We observe too that Obaigbena disingenuously sidestepped the questions raised about employing the services of Dr Reuben Abati, a card-carrying member of PDP as anchor person on Arise TV, as well as Obaigbena’s multi-million Naira consultancy role in the ill-fated attempt by a sitting Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele to compete for APC’ presidential ticket.

These are weighty moral issues Obaigbena, with all his resourceful facilities to lie and dissemble, could not defend.

Again, we challenge him to deny if Abati wasn’t the running-mate of Senator Buruji Kashamu on PDP’s platform in the governorship contest in Ogun in 2019.

Kashamu was a wanted drug lord in the US. Of course, the same Abati, who never allows any opportunity to pass without attacking Asiwaju Tinubu daily, would have been one of those Obaigbena would have lined up at his dubious Town Hall meetings to “interrogate” Tinubu! Such shameless, unethical practice!

Further, while pontificating on public morality, Obaigbena conveniently ignored the perversity of collecting hundreds of millions as “media consultant” to Godwin Emefiele, the occupant of a critical public office from which utmost sobriety and non-partisanship is expected.

Through patronizing reportage in THISDAY/Arise, Emefiele was egged on to openly descend into the political arena and bid for the presidential ticket of APC in its last primaries in what is now commonly called the “Mefy racket”.

This has antecedents: Obaigbena was also “consultant” to President Jonathan as he was to Chief Ernest Shonekan. Whatever happened to journalism ethics?

6. The culture of media merchandising: In a futile attempt to burnish his image, Obaigbena resorted to dropping the names of U.S. and UK leaders who had attended events staged by him. Dropping the names and pictures of these former Western leaders who attended paid-for-appearance ThisDay events as if they attended when serving in office, is another Obaigbena's vainglorious clout chasing scheme to scam the public.

He failed to disclose that the high-profile personalities who delivered keynote addresses at such events were handsomely paid from money he collected through media blackmail from captains of industries notably bank chiefs. To con the outside world, Obaigbena had boasted in an interview with New York Times that he had corporate fortune of $100m accruing to his company annually.

But later, tax officials in Lagos could not reconcile those bogus claims with his tax records and non-remittance of taxes deducted from workers. It was so easy to expose his fake lifestyle.

7. Since Nduka Obaigbena introduced his blackmail and extortionist brand of journalism into Nigeria, generation of Bank CEOs, company Chief Executives, politicians and Governors from 1999 have suffered in silence, seeking liberation from oppressive journalism by intimidation.

In 2009, Nduka Obaigbena raided Niger Delta states with his Thisday Entertainment's packaged Niger-Delta Peace Concert. He coerced the Niger-Delta Governors then to contribute hundreds of millions of Naira with a promise to bring A-list pop stars such as Jay-Z and Beyonce to perform.

After collecting the money the promised superstars didn't show up. One of the governors was at the airport till almost midnight waiting to receive the superstars. These governors complained and suffered in silence because they were afraid of Nduka and his Thisday Newspaper which he has turned to instrument of oppression.

8. We took notice of Reuben Abati's ramblings on Arise TV on his Wednesday Morning Show where he laboured in vain to defend his despicable record and perversions.


Abati queried our statement that he is a registered member of PDP.


The query is rather for him. How did he become a Deputy Governorship candidate to Late Senator Buruji Kashamu in 2019 without a membership of PDP as required by law?


We really do not expect much from Abati. He is a known pathological liar, who has lived on lies and deceit all his professional life. While he has successfully created the image of a conscientious public intellectual over the years, the fact is that he is a morally bankrupt man who has no scruples in selling his soul to the devil as long as money is involved.

Abati has very odious reputation within the corporate and political circles as “anything goes newspaper columnist” as long as the money is right.

Mixed reactions trail the video of a heavily pregnant woman who underwent the procedure of a chemical bleaching despite her condition.

A video making rounds of social media captured the moment an expectant mother went through the rigorous process of having her skin toned to a lighter shade than it was.

The process said to be called ‘glow bath’ is done with alleged natural ingredients of different forms applied to the body at different stages which eventually produces a lighter skin on the spot.

The said pregnant woman, however, went through the process of having her skin bleached despite the delicate state of carrying a baby in her tummy.

A Zimbabwean Man, Arnold Masuka(40), has told the court he was no longer interested in his wife, Hilda Mleya (30), because she is too beautiful.

Arnold made this claim before the judge, Henry Chizvidzo. According to Zimbabwean Live, Arnold was divorcing his wife because of her beauty which was giving him sleepless nights.

Newspapers like The News, Tell Magazine,Tempo, The Masses, The Guardian were either proscribed or banned. People like Dare Babarinsa, Dapo Olorunyomi, Bayo Onanuga, Gani Fawehinmi, Femi Falana, Frank Kokori and other Human Rights activists had sore tastes of Abacha regime.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had his properties destroyed. He ran abroad along with Prof. Wole Soyinka, Kayode Fayemi to flout a Gorilla Radio Station named, RADIO KUDIRAT to fight Abacha Regime to a standstill.
Those who did not know how democracy was fought and won are the ones enjoying our democracy today. They are falling over one another to become President in 2023 after they have romanced with Abacha, adopting him to become our 'Life President.'

Remember that Mrs. Kudirat Abiola was shot in the head by Abacha's Pointsman led by Sergeant Kabila Rogers on June 4, 1994. Rogers confessed at the Oputa Panel that he was sent by Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Abacha, Hamza Al-Mustapha to kill Kudirat, the wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 election, MKO Abiola.

I remember that a veteran Journalist, Bagauda Kaltho, the Kano State Bureau to  Tempo, a weekly tabloid and The News magazine got missing, till today, dead or alive, no one knows.

The Mastermind to all the above atrocities were allegedly traced to Al-Mustapha who was once sent to death by a Lagos High Court over the death of Kudirat under the former President Olusegun Obasanjo regime but was later set free by a higher Court of jurisdiction.

He is seeking the votes of Nigerians to become Nigeria's President in 2023. He appeared at Berekete Abuja spilling the ills in Nigerian Oil Industry and others that has become a cankerworm beyond the control of Presidents of Nigeria.

Al-Mustapha was an intelligent insider whom I think knows it all.

GUNMEN are on rampage in Imo State and the Southeast killing and maiming innocent Nigerians in order to prevent the 2023 elections from being a success story.

In the video that went viral on social media, some faceless gunmen ambushed a car with the APC banner destroyed it while brandishing their guns daring anyone to challenge them.

A bloodthirsty man among the gunmen was heard saying, "Thunder fire APC, anybody who worked with Nigerian government must die."

Our correspondent saw a video footage where two young men were lying in the pool of their blood at Umuna.

An eyewitness said, ” They just killed these two men now at Umuna. This act was carried out by gunmen enforcing sit-at-home. This just happened now now. We are now afraid.”

Gunmen had also in the afternoon of Friday killed Prince Chidi Iheme, elder brother to Nollywood actor, Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw.

Iheme was killed at Ubomiri in the Mbaitoli LGA of the state while allegedly on transit to a campaign rally being organised by the All Progressives Congress candidate for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, Akarachi Amadi.

The State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Martin Eke, whom he was riding in the same vehicle with, was badly injured with machete.

Meanwhile, Akarachi has condemned the killing of Iheme, whom he described as one of his supporters.

The politician in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Darlington Irobi, on Friday night, also condemned the attack on the commissioner.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the politician prayed for the quick recovery of the injured commissioner.

The statement read, “It is with deepest knowledge of regrets, sense of personal loss and concern we write to condemn the ugly incident that occurred today at Amawuihe Autonomous community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

“The information of the sporadic shooting at Amawuihe Ubomiri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area that claimed the life of an APC strong supporter, Prince Chidi Iheme, while we were at Egbeada Community canvassing for votes, is quite regrettable.

“We also decry the deadly attack on the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Martin Eke, who was riding in the same vehicle with Prince Iheme.

“While condemning the act, we deeply sympathise with the Iheme family of the Amawuihe Autonomous Community and ask God to show them the mercy of comfort to bear this irreparable loss.

“We also wish Hon Eke speedy recovery as we will do everything possible to assist him comeback to his feet as quickly as possible.
  It will be recalled that many INEC offices have been set ablaze and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed.

REDWOOD Clinics Abeokuta has stated its roles in the story on allegation of harvesting of two teenage girl's organs in a rejoinder to media story carried two days ago.

In the story available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, the hospital said it conducted its role professionally according to the ethics of medical profession.

The statement said the two ladies are not underaged as being speculated and that they came to the hospital voluntarily for egg donation and not for organ harvesting as reported by the press.

This statement becomes necessary due to misleading information released to the general public by Vanguard Newspaper of December 7, 2022.

The two ladies in question, whose names we shall not be disclosing in the interest of patient confidentiality, came to the hospital for voluntary egg donation.
Egg donation is an integral part of in-vitro fertilization aimed at helping women with low egg reserve to achieve pregnancy through assisted reproductive technology.
Egg donor programmes include self-adminisitration of drugs by the participating donor. Eggs are microscopic and aspiration of eggs is through a tiny needle, not in any way an organ harvest. Eggs in the human body are similarly lost at menstrual cycles, which is what egg donor cycles partially mirror.
F.O. came to the clinic with B.A. who had participated in egg donation programme in the past, and was introduced as her cousin. F.O. expressed her desire to participate in the scheme and she later introduced P.I. who she claimed was her friend as a prospective donor.
Each of them was given a registration and data form to fill where they wrote down their relevant biodata, including date of birth and age. From the information, both of them were well above 18 years.

They were asked questions to ascertain that they qualified and were fit for the scheme and were further counselled on the treatment protocol. They reaffirmed their willingness to participate.
They were then physically examined, following which laboratory investigations were ordered.
It took six weeks, from the day of registration to the day of egg collection at PF Clinic in Surulere, Lagos, during which period they were injecting themselves at home with the prescribed medication for the purpose. During this period, they made a number of scheduled visits to our hospital. F.O. had no complaints whatsoever after her egg collection in Lagos while P.I. had complaints of abdominal discomfort and mild lower abdominal pain for which she came to our hospital three days after egg collection.
Her father followed her to the hospital and claimed that he did not know that the daughter had egg donation and that when the pain started they had taken her to another hospital in their neighbourhood where she was suspected to have appendicitis and planned for surgery. It was then that his daughter told him that she had egg donation and that she was told she might develop lower abdominal discomfort or pain. This made the father to bring her to our hospital.

We told them that the symptoms were not an unusual effect of the procedure, and they were reassured that she was not going to come to any harm. She was treated with pain killers and intravenous fluids, and was discharged home the following day in good health.
To the best of our knowledge, she has not had any complaints since then and both ladies have remained in good health.
However, about two weeks after P.I's discharge, we were informed that the father lodged a complaint at Meiran Police Station, claiming that his underaged daughter and secretary were involved in organ harvesting, and he was demanding a sum of two hundred million naira as damages.
The case was investigated by the police and we were found not to have committed any offence. At his instance, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti in Lagos and the findings were the same.

It is pertinent to mention that from our records, the ladies were adults, and they have come to no harm as a result of any medical intervention in our care. We state for the records that no organ in their bodies is missing or damaged. Redwood Clinics Abeokuta is a responsible organisation that will not commit any act of illegality in its dealings with the public.
We hold highly the ethics of medical practice and will continue to deliver health care to the best of our abilities.

An Epidemic: Nigerian Men Killing Their Nurse Wives In America “Yes, I have killed the woman that messed up my life; the woman that has destroyed me. I am at Shalom West. My name is David and I am all yours.” Those were David Ochola’s words during his 911 (U.S. Emergency Number) call to authorities after shooting dead, his 28 years old wife, Priscilla Ochola, in Hennepin, Minnesota.

The 50-years old, husband was tired of being “disrespected” by his wife, a Registered Nurse (RN) whom he had brought from Nigeria and sponsored through nursing school only to have her make much more than him in salary – a situation which led to Mrs. Ochola “coming and going as she chose without regard for her husband.”

The couple had two children – four years old boy and a three year old girl.

In Texas, Babajide Okeowo had been separated from his wife, Funke Okeowo, with whom he resided at their Dallas home. Upon the divorce, the husband lost the house to his wife, along with most of the contents therein, as is usually the tradition in the U.S. Divorces where the couple still has underage children.

Mr. Okeowo, 48, divorced his wife because not long after she became an RN and made more money than him, she “took control” of the family finances and “controlled” her husband’s expenditure and movement.

The husband could no longer make any meaningful contribution to his family back in Nigeria unless the wife “approved” it. He could not go out without her permission. Frustrated that his formerly malleable wife had suddenly become such a “terror” to him to the point of asking for in court and getting virtually everything for which he had worked since coming to the US thirty years prior, the husband got in his vehicle and drove a few hundred miles to Dallas to settle the scores.

He found her in her SUV, adorned in full Nigerian attire on her way to the birthday bash organized in her honor. She had turned 46 on that day. Mr. Okeowo fired several rounds into his wife’s torso while she sat at the steering wheel, mercilessly killing her in broad daylight.
Also in Dallas (they sure need anger management classes in Dallas), Moses Egharevba, 45, did not even bother to get a gun. The husband of Grace Egharevba, 35, bludgeoned her to death with a sledge hammer while their seven year old daughter watched and screamed for peace.

Mrs. Egharevba’s “sin” was that she became an RN and started to make more money than her husband. This led to her “financial liberation” from a supposedly tight-fisted husband who had not only brought her from Nigeria, but had also funded her nursing school education.

Like Moses Egharevba, Christopher Ndubuisi of Garland, Texas, (these Texas people!) also did not bother to get a gun. He crept into the bedroom where his wife, Christiana, was sleeping and, with several blows of the sledge hammer, crushed her head.

Two years before Christiana was killed, her mother, who had been visiting from Nigeria, was found dead in the bathtub under circumstances believed to be suspicious.

Of course, Christiana was a RN whose income dwarfed that of her husband as soon as she graduated from nursing school. The husband believed that his role as a husband and head of the household had been usurped by his wife.

Mr. Ndubuisi’s several entreaties to his wife’s family to intercede and bring Christiana back under his control had all failed.

If the circumstances surrounding the death of Christiana’s mother were suspicious, those surrounding the death of a Tennessee woman’s mother were not. Agnes Nwodo, an RN, lived in squalor before her husband, Godfrey Nwodo, rescued her and brought her to the US. He enrolled her in nursing school right away. Upon qualifying as a RN, Mrs. Nwodo assumed “full control” of the household. She brought her mother to live with them against her husband’s wishes. Mrs. Nwodo quickly familiarized herself with US Family Laws and took full advantage of them.

Each time the couple argued, the police forced the husband to leave the house whether he had a place to sleep or not. On many occasions, Mr. Nwodo spent days in police cells. Upon divorcing his wife, Mr. Nwodo lost to his wife, the house he had owned for almost 20 years before he married her.

He also lost custody of their three children to her, with the court awarding him only periodic visitation rights. Even seeing the children during visitation was always a hassle as the wife would “arrive late at the neutral meeting place and leave early with impunity.”
Mr. Nwodo endured so many embarrassing moments from his wife and her mother until he could take it no more. One day, he bought himself a shotgun and killed both his wife and her mother.

Caleb Onwudike’s wife, Chinyere Onwudike, 36, became a RN and no longer saw the need to be controlled by her husband. Mr. Onwudike, 41, worked two jobs to send his wife to her dream school upon bringing her to the US from Nigeria. After four years, she qualified as an RN. Once she started to make more money than her husband, she began to “call the shots” at home. She “overruled” her husband on the size and cost of the house they purchased in Burtonsville, Maryland. She began to build a house solely in her name in their native Umuahia town of Abia State, Nigeria, without her husband’s input whatsoever.

Mrs. Onwudike came and went “as she liked,” within the US and outside the US. In fact, she once travelled to Nigeria for three weeks “without her husband’s permission” to lavishly bury her father, despite her husband’s protestations that they had better things to do with the money.

Mrs. Onwudike let her husband know that this was mostly her money and she would spend it however she wanted. Through her hard work, she had risen to a managerial position at the medical center where she worked.

Upon her return from burying her father, her husband got one of her kitchen knives and carved her up like a Thanksgiving turkey inside their home on New Year’s Day.
Death is death, no matter how it comes. But the goriest of these maniacal killings is probably the one that happened here in Los Angeles, California.

Joseph Mbu, 50, was tired of his RN wife’s “serial disrespect” of him. The disrespect began as soon as she became a RN. Gloria Mbu, 40, had once told her husband he must be “smoking crack cocaine” if he thought he could tell her what to do with her money now that she made more money than him.

Before she became a RN, Mr. Mbu had been very strict with family finances and was borderline dictatorial in his dealings with Mrs. Mbu. However, Mrs. Mbu learned the American system and would no longer allow any man to “put her down.” When Joseph Mbu could not take it anymore, he subdued his wife one day, tied her to his vehicle and dragged her on paved roads all around Los Angeles until her head split.

HARD fighting Spain bowed to Morocco 3-0 on Tuesday to qualify for the Quarterfinals in the ongoing FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

FORMER Presidential Media Aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has said that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended and graduated from the Chicago State University, contrary to reports stating otherwise.

He said that upon a recent visit to the institution, it was confirmed to him that, contrary to claims in some quarters as well as from some personalities, that Tinubu was its student.

According to Reno, some documents obtained from the university confirmed that Tinubu graduated with honours from it’s Accounting Department where he majored.

This was in reaction to a statement in a recent ARISE TV interview where it was said that the University had denied having records of Tinubu ever being its student.

In the programme, Omokri said that he had visited the university to obtain evidence that confirmed that Tinubu did attend Chicago university from August 1977 through June 1979.

However, releasing the documents, Omokri said political candidates should be assessed based on what they can do and not based on lies. In the documents released by Omokri, the Chicago State University confirmed that Tinubu majored in Accounting and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with honours on June 22, 1979.

Also, Omokri further noted saying: “On September 19, 2022, I went to verify if Bola Tinubu attended the Chicago State University. I went there and there is video evidence that I went there. And, Chicago State University actually verified that Tinubu attended Chicago State university.

“I don’t like Tinubu. However, if I am going to criticize him, I am not going to criticize him based on lies.

“I was interviewed by Arise TV and one of the journalists told a lie that a subpoena was sent to the Chicago State University by a lawyer and that the Chicago State University responded to it to say that Tinubu did not attend the university. That is a lie.”

Omokri who shared the email address and phone number of the Chicago State University in a video urged everyone to go verify for themselves that Tinubu did attend the university and was a good student.

According to Omokri, journalists too should verify their claims properly before rushing to press.
