Please i would like to know if it's okay to book Guest House in London, UK instead of Hotel?
Please advice because im trying to cut the expenses
Thanks It does not matter if it is a Guest house, hotel or short stay apartments, the most important thing is to get a VERIFIABLE booking confirmation, just in case the High Commission chooses to verify |

segzy0: Thanks @Solatium, Is shopping a must or how much can I spare for that?
Pls advice It all depends on your account balance, some spend more than that, some less than that, but if your account balance is not solid enough, earmarking £400 for shopping will sound outrageous and look unrealistic |

phemy1230: Good morning everyone in the forum, I have few questions to ask, and I will be happy if any experts gives me a reply soon.
1) I heard passengers on South African airways are always treated well to other airlines, I.e they don't scrutinize much on BTA with them?
2) what is the official BTA minimum to take over there?
3) what is the official dollar rate to naira now if anyone has an idea?
The BTA issues is been make difficult by naija security agencies who tends to profiteer from it,the scare people and makes it look as if heaven will fall, where as the Immigration at the point of entry in SA rarely ask for your BTA,chances are they will ask for your Accommodation confirmation and Yellow card 10x before asking you for your BTA,.....Just look for like 3k rands or more depending on your stay period,no point in lookibg for scarce and highly priced dollars since you need rands and you are still gonna change dollars to rands Thanks for the response. |

yinksob002: Hello guys, i intend renewing my SA visa to attend my grad ceremony and would like to clarify: 1) If i can still use the same yellow card I have been using since Nov 2013. The last time i used it to apply was for study in 2014 and the visa recently expired. 2) The process for accessing forex for intending travellers via travelex at the airport. 3) Can savings account be used in isolation or it has to be current acct.
Thank you. [Qquote author=samuelUMOH post=50125417]Yes you can use bank statement of someone in SA living legally. The person passport date page ,proof of residence ,letter of sponsor and bank statements will be required .( all certified and scan to you ) . Yellow card has 10yrs validity if i have not mistaken so is still reusable up to that period. Savings or Current account are admissible/acceptable for visa application in all the embassy of all countries. |

Damien34: Hello all. For the sake of anonymity, I created a new nairaland account, Please I want you to read this, might be long, but I really need you to read this. Ok, I'm 23 yes old, currently in Nigeria and I have a younger brother who is 19yrs old.. Last year January, he successfully crossed the sea to Italy, Where he was taken to the camp in Italy (cara mineo) He spent some months there, and the living condition was very terrible.. He doesn't know anyone in Europe, but after some months, he left Italy before he thumb printed.. This he did so that he would be able to seek asylum in a stronger European country, thumb printing in Italy would make it hard to seek asylum else where because of the Dublin regulation that requires European countries to send back asylum seekers back to the first EU country of entry.. He left Italy through train and tried to enter Germany but he was turned back at the boarders, he went further to Austria where he was accepted and taken to a camp there.. Life there was somehow better than in Italy, as they were given little stipends, and little food.. He got a small job there where he was earning little, but unfortunately, work control cracked down on him and stopped him, and also slammed him with a fine.. After sometime, asylum seekers where transferred to the Bush.. no lies here, no food was provided for them, and he survived on bananas for days.. He begged on the streets, and he was able to survive.. After a few months, he was victimized and unjustly punished.. He was sent to prison.. He was alleged that he physically assaulted a white man, which wasn't true.. The white man himself confirmed my bro wasn't the offender, but the Austrian officials had already cancelled his Aduro.. He was deported back to Italy where he is back to square 1.. 5days upon arrival, no food no water, no where to sleep except the ground, no where to beg because of the massive population of asylum seekers begging.. His health is deteriorating sharply, and he can hardly speak.. When we chat on WhatsApp, I'm almost in tears hearing his voice.. I really don't know where to look for help except this forum.. If I remember how he crossed the desert and the sea to get to Europe, I weep.. Now getting to Europe, he's realised things r not actually greener there.. Just 19, and the trauma he has passed through, and the trauma he is passing through can never be wished to one's enemy.. I have adviced him to be patient.. Please house, I really need advice here, Even the Italy, ppl with documents are still in the streets, no job, no where to sleep, what to eat uncertain. I have advice him to join the French foreign legion army, but I don't know if they accept asylum seekers.. Please, if you know any advice you can give to me that will save my lil bro, please help me, we have told him to come home, but he will be taken to deportation camp where he will spend 1yr there with more terrible living conditions.. Any nairalander currently in Europe that wants to help my lil bro with garri or food please I will really appreciate please, I m not asking for money, please, if it is just food that can get to his side, I will be able to sleep at night.. Please let's help our fellow Nigerian.. some ppl have made it in Europe and in the rest part of the world, while some r struggling very hard.. Please ppl, I type in tears, If anybody can help my lil bro in Milan? please ;(.. lalasticlala justwise pls help me carry to FP abeg. Look for a way to raise money for his ticket back home,at 19 and with his experience he will surely make it back at home, most people think living abroad is like Nigeria where you can go to any relative of yours and you will be sorted out in minutes, bring him back in peace now before is too late.....i pray you don't lose him |

I am a student who will be traveling to Oyo in the coming months. Some advice i was given was to know the area you will be in and how to get help if you are ever lost or in trouble. I know the emergency contact number is 112, but i have been told there are some states where it does not work as well. As i say, i will be in Oyo, Oyo park, and villages to the west such as Ago Amadu and Shaki. Are there any special considerations? Just wanting to be prepared as per my school instructions. Nothing to worry about, those areas are peaceful, the people are welcoming and friendly ,no molestation or whatsoever, just integrate yourself into the local system once.you are there....but don't venture out in the dark, except you have a well trusted chaperone....Enjoy your stay |

Travel › Re: My Visa Was Denied At The Italian Consulate Lagos by Solatium(m): 7:17pm On Oct 01, 2016 |
icehood: Italian embassy is the most corrupt in Nigeria, am not saying this cause I was denied visa but rather with what i saw after spending 3weeks going to the embassy everyday makes me feel Nigeria has lost it all.
People pay money to get to get declaration of value, some even use fake account just to turn the surname to be same with theirs yet they re granted visa, once you re from Benin you get Visa automatically.
I graduated among top in my department and I will say my application was among the best if I had apply to embassy like Canada they would have appreciated it cause I added everything humanly possible including a well written statement of purpose but the visa officer keep complaining on my statement of account cause my uncle name differ my own surname was that really fair.
Though I can't sue the embassy for wasting my time after 1month if applying for visa, and the visa officer keep postponing the date for collection without even considering the money being spent for transportation, it was really a shame.
I witness people who collect visa and shouted Germany here I come instead of them going for study at Italy... Most granted visa keep saying Italy na country, I felt bad cause I really wanted to study and yet I wasn't considered.
Untill the Italian consulate start to interview student, I won't apply again, if there was to be an interview I would have been granted cause I know what am going there for..... Today I felt betrayed by my country for not creating an avenue where first class student can study for MSC rather than going to other country for study. God have a way of speaking to us,but we hardly hear his voice.Visa rejection is not God denial,i see it as God redirection towards something better,...let me use my own life as an illustration,i was asked to pay a repatriation fee of #60k at SA embassy in 2004,i couldn't raise the money and i stayed back,i applied for UK visa in 2005 i got my visa after the appeal process, ever since i have visited Uk twice,Kenyan once, and recently came back from the same SA i was refused their visa in August,am on the verge of going to Europe in November/December,though the refusal could be painful,it could look like the end of the world,i have felt the same way before.but guess what? i thank God i.did not make to SA then,am happy here at home though life not perfect but i can still stand tall and be counted among my mates.....wipe your tears and think of other countries you can apply to,your breakthrough is just round the corner..i wish you well |

JADESOLA15: Hi everyone, thanks all for sharing your experiences, I'm most grateful. pls I need clarification on something that is bothering me, I want to renew now, my initial was business visa through my employer. This is the challenge, I have a coy I registered in 2013, but I started using in 2015 after I got my visa, it was not mentioned in my initial application. The business is now functioning well now and I want to use the coy as part of ties to Nigeria and to show where some of my income comes from. I hope this won't create a problem for me? Considering that it was not included in my first app knowing fully well it was existing before o filed my application. I will appreciate your contribution. If you are still at the same job that gave you the initial visa the most appropriate thing is to continue on that trend, but if you have left the job you can renew using your own business details and documents....Combination of the two could spell a doom..Best of luck |

Georgiedey: Great job your doing here.i would head straight to the point i was issued a 6 months visa in April 2016.i traveled that same month and used 2 months and a week. I applied to attend my sisters burial so i got invite and other documents from my brother who is also resident in the uk,my sister death certificate and burial estimates and plans from the funeral company. i am married with kids and work in the family business i do not earn much and my account wasn't very busy although i heard a balance of around 400,000 when i applied. Now my visa would expire mid October I heard intended traveling to see my sisters kids sometime these month so i was advised to extend the visa by reapplying since my visa expiry date is close and so i don't encounter issues at the point of entry, please is it possible i reapply on a valid visa? Should i have any cause to worry? Thanks Since you have been to UK once.on the same visa, gaining entry at the bother won't be an issue provided you exit the country before your visa expires, but where you might have a lot of explanation to do is your stayed 10 weeks when you first visited....They might want to know what.you were doing up till that period, who was responsible for.your living expenses and all that. |

justwise: Of course i was waiting for you to come up this that line because you know too well that nobody can verify that.
Been refused a visa or deported from a country does not mean that you will never get a visa to another country but lying about it is my argument here.
Even when you lied and got the visa that is not the end of the story because it will still catch up with you in future application.
Of course you are encouraging people to be dishonest and you have stated here many times and still denying it.
Being honest in your application will make a difference between getting that visa and a refusal even a ban. You can infer what.ever you.chooses to from any of those comments,i have made my clarification on the said topic.QED |
