oga try to read before you comment
I said immigration will never give u your old passport once u do correction or change of data in the passport.
u can ask anybody if u re not sure or convinced.
the best u can do is to get a police report and affidavit of a missing passport because even immigration wont give u any letter to that effect.
Renewal of expired passport and
change of data page in a passport is two different thing oga.
Since you know that why come up here for an advice? sometimes some of you just come here to test people's knowledge by saying all sorts of things forgetting that people have passed through the same route you are claiming to have passed and get stocked....You don't need to bugg us down since u know tge answer, explain the same to them.Period

exactly wat I told you, I didn't ask them for the old passport the day I went for collection, I just collected my new one and left and moreover I saw the old one I. the file they open for me while applying for the new one and change of data..my mistake is I didn't ask them for it wen I collected the new one.
Your old passport was just for the sighting of the Head of that passport office/issuing center to secure his signature for a re_issue of a new passport, they shouldn't have collected as I said earlier,it means there is something sinister on that old passport.....in order to clear this,go get a valid letter from them since explaining why they withheld it.a police report and sworn affidavits means it was lost or destroyed which run foul of your initial assertion that it was held by immigration

hello everyone I was denied SA tourist visa today, with the reason that I didn't attached my previous international passport.
my previous passport expired 2015 and I renew it last year, but I did correction of my name while renewing it because the previous one was carrying the abbreviation of my last name..After the correction of name, immigration didn't give me back the old passport again.
Though I later got an affidavit and police report declaring it missing but I didn't attached the affidavit and police report to my SA visa application because I never knew it was that important.
I actually applied for the SA tourist visa because I got admission in Lithuania and since they is no Lithuania embassy in Nigeria, the school ask me to go to the Lithuania embassy in SA and apply.
I submitted my admission letter and other necessary documents during my application too.

my question now is, I have asked my school to defer my admission to next session (January) and I still intend to use the SA route meaning I have to apply for SA visa either in November or December..but in the bottom of the rejection letter, they wrote that I can't apply till after 6 months...and November is just 3 ,months from now...
please I need ur advise urgently pls
How can immigration withheld your passport after renewal? I have never heard of such, all they could have done was to stsp it with CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE and return it back to you,it is still your property provided you have not done anything criminal to warrant the withdrawal, even the old one won't be withraw but the new one... You need to come clean on why you can't provide your old passport

I just want to thank you all for helping me by advice on my Visa application! Today I collected my passport and I have been issued a VISA of 8 months as Tier 5 TW(Charity)! Here are summary;

Visa application : 31 July
Biometrics taken: 2nd Aug
Decision made: 16 Aug
Passport collection : 24 Aug

I juss want to ask one question because I am a first timer, I am on progress of booking Airline ticket. Will I face any obstacles at the Airport if I book One way ticket? Because my sponsor told me they will offer me a return ticket! I will appreciate your answers!
One way ticket ke? Instant deportation on the next available flight niyen....When your sponsor said return ticket it means a ticket to take from Lagos to Uk and back to Lagos..Inform your sponsor through the same medium of communication u have been using in the past that your VISA has been granted, they can then forward you your ticket as agreed

Dear Ekpotek and Justwise,

Thank you once again for all the three Uk visas I applied for in the past and all the three were successful. Please I need your help for one of my good friends she contacted me that her mum's visa has been denied 3 different times. Her husband is British and she is on spouse visa too. Could you please kindly advise us on what to do. Please find the three refusal letters attached. I would be awaiting your response and other people can contribute too. We are hoping to apply for her Mum by the end of the year and we don't want to make the same mistake again. Thank you all.
I strongly suspect this applications are packaged by Different agents or same agent who thinks the computing systems forgets.

This is going to be a tough one to address,3 refusals all within months I guess.....The ECO knew there had been some figure falsification just like the first respondent pointed out,and they will hold on to that till eternity, another thing that might have counted against is the response that there is no dependant(which is like a home tie) as it was quoted in the second refusal letter,it simply indicates she can choose not to come home again.I will advise the applicant to forget about UK visa application for at least a year to build a solid account turn over and healthy balance,if truly she trades, she should make sure she gathered invoices and receipts from where she buys her supplies (Reputable shops and suppliers) she can then give it a go after a year....but for now nothing will change

Hello all,

Please, I am new on this forum. I applied for a 6months visitng visa to the UK and submitted since AuG 27th. This is my first application. I applied with my mum and sister who are frequent UK travellers. Altho their application was renewal, while mine is a first time. I am a trader with my business certificates, also married with kids and have landed properties. I make a profit of about 300-400k in my business monthly and it is reflected in myaccount. My account balance was over 4M. what is battling me is that yesteday, I received a mail from the ukvisa centre that my application is not straitforward, so they can not make a decision now....under consideration...... or something like that. I called my younger sister if she got the same mail, but said no she did not and neither my mum. We applied and submitted togethter o.
today, my account manager called me that they received a call from UK embassy asking about my date of birth. My 2nd concern is my mum's bank was not called, and my younger sister is always sponsored by my mum even tho she is working but she used to submit account balance of even less than 30k, and visa will be issued to her.
Please who can tell me, why their is difference in my application, why did they send me that email, and not send my sister, and why did they call my bank and not call my mum's bank. why are they asking my bank for my date of birth, and what does that email about my application not been straightforward implies? Does it mean my application will be refused?
What they did was just a quick check on you, they have noticed that people go around to source for statement of account that Carrie's name related to them,in other to burst that trick they will only ask for your DOB and if it does not merge with the one on your passport you are fried....but if you have submitted a genuine documents, you should go to sleep as you have nothing to fear

Hello house
Please I'll like to get answers as regards my visa application
I and my friend applied 3days ago but we are yet to go for our appointment.
I'll like to know what type of documents to include.
I just got employed in April this year, my friend is /has been a civil servant for 1 year.
We are both using the same invite letter because my friends cousin is the one inviting us.
Will our appointment letters and leave letters suffice as evidence to show that we just want to visit the UK for a few days?
Or is there any other document we'll be needing?
And will an account balance of 700k as shown in our statement of account suffice seeing that my friends cousin is the one hosting us both?
I need urgent answers and contributions
Thanks
You put in an application before knowing what to submit, why the hurry? what of if you can't come up with tge vital documents, will you falsify or cancel out your appointment? Gathering pf documents and all other things should come before scheduling appointment and submission

No one is discouraging the applicant. If you say everyone should resort to the ECO's judgment, why then do we have this forum? This forum is to guide people, based on peoples' tangible experiences, so every applicant makes informed decisions. It's up to the applicant to weigh their options and decide for themselves. A lot of people that have been refused were not adequately informed on how to come close to the mind of the ECO.
That is why is not one size fits all,the advise that worked for A does work against B sometimes,I still believe she a chance of securing a visa now or at a later application, all she need to do is to come clean which she has been able to do in her Question

Inasmuch as you could be right in your arguments, it does not particularly help the case concerned. If we look closely at the concerns of the person who asked the initial question, you would see the cousin was mentioned earlier who is now an overstayer. Now an uncle is to be mentioned which was not mentioned previously. The real issue to deal with is whether or not the cousin would be mentioned again given it was originally. Any family you mention would prompt you to give their passport numbers. Why does UKVI ask for this info? Think about it. No two passport numbers are the same. Whether or not UKVI would search out the overstayer or not, chances are that the visa applicant could be seen as a potential overstayer given their family member did.
It is not mandatory you give the passport number of all tge people you mentioned on your application,it is not mandatory you give their current address as they might have changed address or you might have lost contact with them.
the only time you are compel to give the full details is when the invites originate from any of the mentioned person.....Probability are that she might not have established a contact with the uncle until recently,it does not stop her from getting an invite from the same uncle..she should go ahead and get her invite from the said uncle and disclose that her brother is also in UK based on her previous application.getting a visa for her on this occasion is then left for the ECO and if she is refused again, she can always reapply having set the record straight
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Solatium(m): 9:15pm On Aug 10, 2017
justwise:
Trade carefully with such advise you called 'helpful'

Her first application which was refused was to visit a brother who is now an overstayer and this one is to visit an uncle that was not disclosed before hence the problem..her brother's immigration status will be brought up because he is on their file already and because he overstayed the suspicion will be that she is likely to overstay as well.

Homeoffice knows who has left the country because airlines or other border posts has the list of people going in and out of the country.

The only way you can leave the UK without the authority somehow knowing is when you get smuggled and the car or truck was not searched at the border.
So are we saying here that if the Sister should not apply if she has a genuine reasons and strong documents that will secure her a visa?

Are we saying application will be judge base on her brother antecedent?

Tge system with these people does not workike you view it,the sister is an individual and the brother is another individual, for the fact the brother commits a crime does not affect the Sister in anyway.
what you could have advised was to simply declared the past contact with her brother on her new application, the decision to issue her a visa is at the ECO discretion

Yes the explanation will be tenable. When my wife applied for a renewal sometime ago she included a letter of promotion which was back dated to before her previous application, she stated that she did not include the promotion in the previous application because she had not received the promotion letter by then though the promotion had been in effect before then and her renewal was approved.
Two different scenarios, Promotions can be back dated, from the date it was due and all arrears duly paid, things like that could be view as administrative lapses.....But like I said she has choices to choose from, but if I was her,I will include only my leave letter and letter of introduction to safe my self from any unnecessary explanation

Hello everyone, good job you are doing here. God bless you all.
1. I want to apply for my mum in law to visit us in uk, however the only assest she has in Nigeria is an hotel which is close for now for renovation( she has letter of registration, c of o etc), can we include that in the application and state that's its closed for now.

2. Is it necessary to get letter from the landlord because we can't assess him and all we plan to do is to add bills and d tenancy agreement to proof accomodation . Since she is staying for 2 weeks

Lastly, do I need to get letter from my employer because we plan to do full sponsorship but we will state dt she will provide her transportation. I will include my pay slips, bank statement and work I'd.

I will appreciate if I get enough responses quickly cos we plan to apply this week.

Thanks
1, You do not need to tell in your letter that the place is close for renovations, the standard is you provide verifiable documentation and once that requirements is met you are good to go,except she is trying to use the business statement of account in her application which will indicate insufficient inflow of cash into the accounts

2, Your bill and Tenancy agreement is all you need, you do not need any letter of authorisation from your landlord, your monthly rent is the authority you have over property while still in occupation by you.

3, You do not need letter from your employer to host anyone,as at the last check your immigrational status evidence,Evidence of employment which is in form of payslip and your bank or card statements is the basic requirements.

Applying for a visa does not mean one have to tell all the stories of one's life as I have read on this forum where people advises applicants to tell the history of their lives to ECO, People are entitled to their private life most especially when it has no direct or remote bearing about the issue at hand

She needs letter from her office to explain the reason why her employment was backdated and that she only resumed on the day she did and was paid the entitlement for the period she was waiting for the letter due to administrative issues or internal organizational restructuring.
I have registered my observations, she is free to take any of the choices that suits her.

Then I take it that you do not know that it is the norm of Civil Service in Nigeria to back date document and it is totally legal even in business.
Have you not heard of pay rises that were decided in July of 2017 for year 2016 and letter was issued in July but stated pay rise takes effect from January 2017.
All you need to is get a letter from your office explaining reason for back dating if it has not been explained in the original letter. Also if you were paid for the back dated years please show evidence in payslip and bank statement.
Have it at the back of your mind that you are dealing with people from different clime, for the fact we do it here does not make it legal except there is another court documents to back it up,not even when she has stated that she had no job at that period only to turn up again and said she had a job as at the time she claimed not to have had one......You should also note that the High commission is NOT WILLING TO ISSUE VISAS TO ANYONE and they will look for perfect excuses like this one to deny her and even ban her or blacklist here for forgery and it will take a competent law court judgement to free her from such.she is not any under obligation to include her appointment since there is an inconsistencies in it,her lettterof introduction and leave letter is enough for her application

Hi guys! I applied for UK visa in 2013, as housewife, was refused visa because I was not working; fortunately for me, i got a FG job that same year. I know i will need to submit my documents from office, hope there won't be any trouble as per me getting the visa?
If you do not have a legal documents to back up that backdating of documents do not try it,it is criminal and will earn you a ling term ban or even blacklist......You do not need to tender your appointment letter, just go there with introduction letter from your organization and your leave letter, some things are better dealt with with tact and wisdom

And you think the explanation will be tenable? that backdating of a documents without another legal documents to back it up is criminal on it's own and if care is not taken it will earn her a ban.explanation is not enough in this matter expect there is a legal documents to it

This issue of travelling everywhere before applying for a UK visa is quite interesting, cos if your application is convincing you need not have travelled anywhere before and you will be issued your Visa. Talking from experience.
My first visa ever was a UK visa, after which I had gone to few other places too,but visa application is not what it use to be where you are purely judge on merit of your documents or words spoken at interviews,it is now base on Documents merits/interview plus a solid financial base, travel history and other assumption by the ECO,at least we can read that from those who had been a victim

My point is that getting a UAE visa is not as strenuous as that of UK, USA, Canada, Australia and other countries with immigration control issues. So the ECO may not view a visit to UAE as a strong travel history since anyone with enough cash can easily get a UAE visa and visit. The truth is that many Nigerian tourist visa applicants uses UAE or SA to 'disvirgin' their passport to accumulate travel history before applying for either a UK, USA, Schengen countries visa or after been refused. The ECO are quite aware of this trick!
Do you blame anyone who go to UAE,SA even Kenya to gather a travel history? The ECO started this discriminatory acts of no travel history to deny applicants and since people knows that they have resorted to all sorts of visa application

UEA entry stamp does not really matter as anyone can visit Dubai if they can afford! The cost of your trip will include air ticket, accommodation, local transport event tickets etc. Since you plan to stay with your cousin, establishing this relationship will be the key to your success. So focus on that aspect.
But the refusal at the point of entry or deportation stamp count? if any of those aforementioned counts, the entry stamps also do count, may be all you could have said was it is not as strong as sone countries visa, the cost of holidaying in UAE is at par or a bit more expensive compare going to uk

Cheap flight is just a website that pulls data from travel agencies and airline worldwide and display their price for you to choose from. When you make your choice you will be redirected to travel agencies or airline websites. I will avoid Quatar airways because of their problem with some Arab countries.
Qatar international routes are not affected in anyway as they operate normally,it is only advisable for those traveling to any of those middle east countries as their final destination not to go on Qatar, but going beyond Middle east? your connection is assured

A bad Review on Qatar Airways? I strongly doubt it,that airline remain one of the very best,I have used them once and I recommend to friends who are frequent travelers and they have never complained for once

As for cheap flight website,I advise you use it for guidance only,if you book through them your payment has to be routed through Europe or North America payment platform, should the payment ran into dispute the implications is that you might not have your tickets issued until the payment is resolved which might be cumbersome...Your local card might not even work on that platform due to restrictions on international payment, just look for local travrl agents you can easily use,so many of them on Google

I will stay at his place so accomodation is settled , so is transportation , feeding but I will pay for the ticket and communication.

Ticket is 250k to-and -fro
It is still expected that you have substantial amount of money left in your account to fall back on after your holiday just to resist that urge of taking up an employment during your stay.

Most people always present conservative budget of around 400-500k for their trip,if you take that of the suggested #1miliion you will discover you are left with just half of your balance, which is fair and reasonable,....main reason that figure is always suggested, but like I pointed earlier, someone from this forum with 820k balance and 5 months statement risked it and go his visa

Am about applying for UK visitor visa ,my brother is sending invitation/payslip/British passport copy to me,my question is,what is minimum amount must I have in my salary account as balance that can guarantee my visa?I will provide my payslip and other documents required.

I would be staying for two weeks although the visa should last for 6 months

Thank you
I remember someone wrote he risked submitting 820k as closing balance and got his visa, but to be on the safe side #1m upward but that alone won't guarantee visa issuance and don't go dumping money desperately into your account thinking it will work.
