OP, let me give you a very good advice,

Never never go to NOUN if you are a young, intelligent and healthy person. You will always be treated as inferior for the rest of your life with a certificate from NOUN wherever you present your certificate because NOUN is not considered a true university in real life.
NOUN certificates are worthless when you present them to large corporations and multinational companies.

NOUN is usually for old and tired parents who do not have the energy and vigour that is required in regular universities.
NOUN does not even offer good courses that you can study and the courses they offer are mostly not accredited by the NUC.
Run through both the university website and NUC website to clear your doubt, the problem with most of Nigerians is that they can't research about a topic ,they are too lazy to find to go on fact finding mission, even with.the help of internet some of you still can't make use of it to make an informed decision.

Happy Sunday my people. Straight to my question, I want to know how relevant is a certificate in National Open University of Nigeria in our society? I am about to enroll for a programme but want to be sure before I do. Can her(NOUN) certificate be compared to other higher institution's? How is it rated?
God bless you all for your candid contributions.
If you are serious about studying at open university I will readily recommend it to you,the CERTIFICATE IS HIGHLY RECOGNIZE being a federal.institution,to further support my assertion check the website of Nigeria university commission for it's accredited courses,at a point this institution was among the TOP 20 UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA in 2014 or 2015,the only thing that makes it different from the conventional university is just the mode of lecture delivery where you are expected to do all by yourself (independent learner ) .......Do not listen to those dream killers who discourage with their words, remember the same argument about neco & waec, hnd & Bsc, are those with same certification not been employed? ....I have been to both side of the divide,I have certificate from both conventional university and Open university and.I can tell you ODL is one of the best.thing to have happen to education development...so many conventional university are buying into that idea of ODL,watch out LASU will launch it's own ODL very soon you can take my word to the bank on that......But to familiarize yourself with the mode of study why not TAKE A TRIP TO THEIR VICTORIA ISLAND CENTER and make enquiries from both students and staff..I wish u best if luck in whatever decisions you opt to take

Good afternoon justwise & co. Please I have a question to ask. My brother is having his convocation soon in the UK. He married a briton and both of them are living in 1-bedroom flat. Can he give me accommodation document. I mean can he send me his tenancy agreement and utility bills that am going to stay with them and be responsible for feeding and my accommodation? I was once a student in the UK and working in Nigeria now with net pay of 150k monthly. Thanks.
Look elsewhere for your documents,if he offer you his tenancy agreement base ob the fact that he stays with his fiancee/wife in that single room apartment ,your application won't fly.....Try the hotel route or reach out to someone who is in better conditions to give those documents.

Well no need to trade words with you. It's a faceless forum and getting on the Internet is very cheap nowadays so every tom, dick and harry will always want to proove their worth. If actually you're knowledgeable enough you would know that he's B.sc certificate qualifies to apply as a skilled worker in certain countries. But due to the fact that you're naive and full of negativity that's why you wished the op bad and all you could think of was getting a visit visa with the hope of staying behind with it. Get a life dude. Shalom
So a Bsc Certification is a guarantee of a migrant visa? You keep sounding pathetic in a bid to justify your unsound logic.I also note you are not verse in comprehension,if you have taken note of the guy's answers you could have known that a Bsc Certification is not sufficient for his choice of countries (US,Canada and Australia) but since you have chose to wallow in ignorance I leave you to your Predetermined position...QED

Actually, my current visa is 5 years. What actually helped my application was in the last 5 years that I have been visiting the UK, I have never stayed more than 10 days per visit. Last year alone, I went in and out of the UK 4 times, and I did not spend up to 10 days cumulatively. My first UK visit application in 2007 was refused and the reason was not due to insufficient balance but that I did not provide sufficient documentation to support the bank balance. My second refusal in 2011 was that I did not provide evidence that my trip was been sponsored. So what matter most is to show that you have sufficient fund to cover your visit and that these funds are available to you (even if you are not sponsoring yourself). If you read the refusal letters posted on naira land that are due to bank statements balances. The ECO will say 'I am not convinced that this funds will be available to you'. Most first timers are likely to be refused as they failed to go through this wonderful thread on naira land for tips, and believed, that, what the ECO is more interested in is seeing a big bank account balance, rather than proving a strong social and economic ties to home country.
We are both saying the same thing in a different way and manner, but to convice you of the above statement I will quote a line from your latest response which goes "So what matter most is to show that you have sufficient fund to cover your visit and that these funds are available to you" .....We all know what is sufficient for a UK travel and it is expected that you have enough money to live on once you are back from your holiday..........I appreciate the justice you have been doing to people's enquiries as well as other contibutors,we are all just crossfertillizing ideas to get things right.kudos bro/sis

@Solatium. You're wrong. I secured my last UK visa with just N219K closing bank balance in March 2017. This was my fifth successful application. Likewise, my brother and his family were denied in 2016 with a closing bank balance of N4m in their account. Applicants are judged on their social and economic ties to Nigeria and the assurances that they will return back to Nigeria after their visit. If the ECO is not convinced that you will return back and not overstay or elope, even if you have 100m in your bank account will not secure you a UK visit visa.
You just said it that your application was the fifth, probably you are now holding a 10yrs visa, the success of your last application was hinged on the strength of your previous immigration record...but a first timer with such an account balance WILL COME WITH OUTRIGHT REFUSAL, most of those asking this question here are usually first timer who do not want to put a foot wrong,we have read about people whose only reason for refusal was insufficient balance. abi no be so?

There is no minimum or maximum amount. What matters is your home ties and sufficient funds to cover your trip without stress.
Saying there is no minimum is like we are not being honest with this question,I have asked this same question here and no one seems to provide a definite answer, same answer you gave was what some of the respondent gave.....But we all know that an account balance.of #500k WILL NEVER SECURE YOU A UK VISA,NO MATTER HOW STRONG YOUR HOME TIES IS.However going by what.I have read here from those who made a successful application I will say a closing balance.of #1.2million with genuine documents and strong reasons/ties makes.you stand a better chance

Hi everyone. I applied for a UK visa 2 weeks ago and I was denied. I have my own fashion boutique. In the form I stated that I earn N6,000,000 in a year. But in the refusal letter it was stated that I earn that in a month which I didn't state In my form. I'm confused at the moment. I submitted 3 different account statements with close to about 4million in the accounts. I've attatched the refusal letter and also the part of the form where I wrote the amount I earn in a year. Please what necessary steps do I need to take when reapplying? Thank you
The ECO erred in his/her judgement of your application, you were judged based on the assumption that you earn #60m a months which contradicts what you filled in the form that it is per annum, base on this you can write a strong worded letter to BDHC in lagos, copying their Sheffield office and asking for a review of your case.it is obvious that you are judged wrongly....but where you might suffer a defeat is the reference to not stating the source of your income.but in the real sense of it ,it has nothing to do with them, they are just looking for a way to deny you

Sorry justwise and other gurus as this is going to be a long read

So yesterday I was refused a UK Visa (first time applicant) and reasons give as below:

While I do not intend to re-apply anytime soon because I can’t be spending money anyhow on visa applications but I will like some professional advise on the above reasons for refusal.

My Questions
1. My UBA account is the salary Account with Closing Balance of about 6M and continuous inflow and outflow of over 30M for the six month period. However my company pays salary twice, 50% to the bank at month end and 50% by cash every half month. So the salary inflow from my company is just half of the N175,000 which I have stated above. And I did attach a letter to explain this. So I’m wondering If the VO don’t consider LOE?. Secondly, I did not attach a payslip to my application, as my company don’t give same, except you have to keep disturbing the account guys. But I attached my Employment letter which states my annual income, Leave letter from the office and also a recent letter of salary review.

2. In additional to the UBA account, I attached a Dollar account of about 4k USD, and two confirmations of fix deposit from my Banks, with amount in Millions. So, I’m wondering if the VO is suspicious that I showed too much money for a salary of N175k per month?. Please note that I did state in my application that I get additional income of about N70K commission from the office, avg. N200k monthly interest from my fixed account investment, about 300K from property rent. All these were also explained in the LOE.

Any professional advise will be helpful for future applications.
You killed your application yourself, you earn #175k a month after tax and you have presented an account balance of close to #10million or over and you expect such an application to fly? Sincerely I don't know who can turn this in your favor, probably you wait for some time before making another application, you can as well go to other places in between the wait

The only travel that will help is to go and return from countries like USA. UK. or Shengen.
Everyone is judged on ties to prove return to home and robust finances.
Even people with running American are denied, nothing is cast in concrete, you just have to do your home work well and ready to challenge them if you think they err in their judgment

Hi everyone, please i need help with planning on ny mother's visit to the Uk. I need her here after my child delivery by March next year. She is currently not working, supported by family. My father is not working either. We are just an average income family. Only landed property is village house and a couple of lands in town (family resides in rented flat). My husband (british citizen) and I are the sponsors for her but I'm worried cos we dont exactly have a tangible account balance. Hubby earns about 2k pounds after taxes per month but account balance is usually wiped by month end. And i earn about 1k.We are definitely able to sponsor the trip and all her maintenance but i'm concerned about looking good on paper. We are looking for how to best prove she has ties and would not resort to working. And by the way, she has not travelled before. Some years back she was rejected uk visa on grounds of insufficient finances when she had a business. But the business is shut down now. We have considered
1) a short trip to dubai
2) paying in significant sum of money each month
3) get her employed
Just in totally clueless. Please help!!! cry huh
I don't think you should worry yourself over this most especially if your mother is over 60, beside she is coming in as a trusted hand to babysit for you while you are away,....You finance's is in good order if you ask me,how many households takes home £3K a month ?.Begin the application any moment from now and put her travel date to that period you will put to bed, explain all that needed to be known....Wish you best of luck

Just wait for their response and if none comes through you can renew your visa while you are still there, visit the application page and read about conditions for renewal while in UK,do not forget to include all your correspondence with them when asking for renewal.

. It will be advisable if you include that source of other income since it's a registered partnership ' it improves you chances of getting your application approve

Hello @ Justwise

Kindly help look at these

1) In view of the accommodation issue, My Cousin in the UK booked hotel reservation (£650) and wants us to share 50:50 says he will write the embassy and send his pay slips insisting he wants to share part of the cost since i insist i cant stay in his one bed flat with madam

2) I have series of lump sums in my account lately though naratted as investments and i intend liquidating an investment of 1.4M before printing my statements. Hope it wont amount to 'lodgement'. My balance will just be 1.9M afterwards. (i'm earn 420k monthly) and i hope to spend only £2,200 only Oanda Conv is 860K as at date. Why don't you wait til probably end of February or march to apply since your travel date is in April 2017? This would have allowed all those perceived lump
Sums to stay longer in your account and give a better view of your financial statement to the ECO, this fire bridged attitude will throw up so many errors in your application.... Relax

3)my proposed travel time is April 2017. Hope its not too far?

4) Please any advise on how to make visa payments in view of card restrictions.

I will appreciate your assistance.

[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]It's been heard that a Nigerian citizen lost is life at kenya deportation camp... source of death is still unknown. Almost 200 Nigerians have been arrested in Nairobi, kenya and they were been locked up at the deporting camp. It was well known before that any illegal foreigner arrested should be deported which i think its the normal procedure to every country. But the current issue here in kenya is other way round. Kenya immigration have seen these as an avenue to exploit more money from the people arrested. Before, when any arrest is made, they will be instantly deported...but right now, they arrest them and ask them to pay KSH70,000 each before they can be given a "DEPORTATION VISA".... yet, the foreigners are the one to pay for their flight back to their countries. This is really making me sick... the only thing i can see from all this is that "KENYAN GOVERNMENT ARE BREEDING THEIR CITIZEN FOR ANOTHER XENOPHOBIC ATTACK". It has gotten to the point that the Immigration are asking their citizens to give out the info and locations of any foreigner living around them. Lots of my friends have been deported unfairly, a friend of mine was recently deported because MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE. Hes already a father to a Kenyan woman. Now, this issue is getting out of hand, Right now, its not about the illegal staying of the foreigners alone...its about hatred towards Nigerians, if any Kenyan is telling you guys that their country is not corrupt, That's a lie....the biggest truth is their they are the smartest thieves ever liveth in Africa. Their immigration sucks, when coming in to Kenya, after paying the sum of $50 for their visa, their police will threaten you bcoz u are a nigerian..and asked u to give them money...i pay up to $500 before they let me in. I was even accompany to use the ATM to withdraw from my Domiciliary account. It sucks to see Nigerians ranting with Kenyans on Nairaland ... Forget about the economy and forget about which country is beautiful or not.. Though our country economy sucks at the moment, but i know Nigeria will spring up again and we will see what will happen. It has become so obvious that even Kenyan ladies and some reasonable men are complaining on twitter about the mass arrest of Nigerians. Now, Many Nigerians are fleeing away...why? They will say Their life matters!!!!!!!!! This is what i know, we are all AFRICANS AND WE HAVE OUR BUT. we all struggling to make things better, What Nigerian is facing today, if Kenyan government should face it, your economy will grow bald bcoz you wont be able to survive it. We Nigerians will all stay strong and go through it all together. RIP TO A DEAR FRIEND AND A GOOD GUY THAT LOST HIS LIFE... LOVE U BLOOD.

THIS ARE THE FEW TWEETS ON TWITTER.
OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE PROBLEM,WHY SHOULD YOU PAY $500 TO THE POLICE IF YOU HAVE GENUINE MOTIVE?...Oga your ways are not clear, why come here and rant? Sort your problems with them

I want to find out the reason why because I was only doing a renewal? Can i appeal? Can i apply immediately? No reason was stated in my packet and the agent was speechless.

Please someone with experience help as i plan to go back very soon.

Are you sure of the documents put together by your agent? Nothing wrong with using an agent, but everything is wrong when your agent became secretive about your application,Your agent should tell you what and what you should bring and discuss your application with you and what you should do in absence of some documents
