thelastpope: How can banning of Okada change the mind of a determined killer or cultist? The guy who was killed at anthony recently was murdered by an assailant who simply shot him, crossed the road, entered his car and zoomed off! When has it ever required Okada to commit a murder? Murders and roberries have been commited from time immemorial! They were commited on foot, with horses, donkeys camels, cars, skates, boats, name it. 32,000 people were killed by guns in the US in 2012. It is only from Fashola's mouth you here such dumb stuff like this that Okada is responsible for crime.

The only way to reduce crime is to put necessary security structures on the ground and to improve standard of living in society. Not to ban things! Pwew!

Okada ban will reduce the success rate of criminal activity because dis criminal gain confidence wit each successful criminal act and okada get away comes wit some ease.

Bros, u gat dis wrong the guy dat shot d doctor used an okada he came wit 2 get away and it was pretty easy.

Part of d security measure needed in Lagos today is a total ban of okada.

It is unfortunate folks think d governor is crazy with dis ban of okada when it is clear he has nothing 2 benefit personally from banning them. Okada has done nothin 2 help d economic growth of dis nation and Lagos state but it has successfully killed creative minds.
Some have failed to realise dat the emergence of okada has brought with it a new and much easier means 4 petty criminals to commit crime and as such these criminals will build on the momentum dat comes with each successful crime they committ. With okada, criminals get away is made much easier and dis criminals who are mostly petty thieves will keep gaining momentum and with each successful get away they gather enuf confidence 2 improve on their crime agenda.
To think of it, dis okada crime rarely happen in places like Mushin and Isolo because boyz also on okada and some okada operators will chase and apprehend them same as criminals using cars. It is not easy 4 d police 2 chase okada thieves because d police operate wit vans. But places in lagos constituted of middle and top class people experience robbery associated with okada because there is nobody 2 chase them down. Damoche and the doctor killers were able 2 get away easily because okada is a easy get away means no hindrance in traffic, bad roads rarely affect them and if any damage is done to d okada they will get it fixed with a token.

First i have a problem with d show's name why OMOTOLA THE REAL ME... it sounds lame 2 me and uncreative. This is a so-claimed reality show even though 90 % was scripted so i am not expecting d fake u.
Then reality shows dat have got nothing with so dangerous adventure or talent hunt won't appeal 2 audience in naija. Forget d kimora, kardashian stuff in naija, nobody really watches them or keep date with it.

In terms of nairalanding translating 2 cash na petty petty cash me see. However, i did gain d following:
1. Enuf info when i was seeking admission into skol. I knew nairaland through googling my skol on google. I owe my admission 2 God then nairaland.
2. I hardly read newspapers nowadays. The news on nairaland is enuf 4 d day.
3. Sampling public opinion on this forum made me realise that IGBO people believes Fashola's govt is out 2 annihilate them in Lagos and so many guyz believe Tinubu is d most corrupt fellow in naija.
4. If nairalandeers only were 2 constitute d electorate in 2015, GEJ certainly will not retain that position.

2 all internet explorer is d way 2 go because mozilla and others won't permit submission. But 4 now eportal is down that shows d traffic on d site. Keep trying especially at nite and expect d same on friday so don't dull urself so u won't try hours later 2 discover dat bedspace has finished. 4 dos relayin on their fone use d browser that came with d fone not opera, bolt etc but a system is more effective.

Some guyz are still confused but relax once more.
4 clarification electives are of 3 categories namely SPECIAL ELECTIVE which doesn't add 2 ur cgpa and failing them are with minimal consequences except SER001(4 units ie 2 unit per semester) AND LIB 001(0 unit) but by d time u'r about 2 graduate u must have passed 12units of Special Elective which must include SER001 AND LIB001. Both SER001 & LIB001 are unlimited in supply 2 all category of students and u must pass this 2 b4 u can graduate. Also they are registered automatically same as ur core courses. Different department offers special electives 2 students but u can't take a special elective offered by ur department though ur department can say otherwise. Example, SEL 001 IS A SE FROM FACULTY OF LAW, LAW STUDENTS CAN'T SUBCRIBE FOR IT BUT ANYODA STUDENT CAN ALSO SOMETIMES THERE ARE EXEMPTION LIKE ECONOMICS STUDENTS TAKING SEO 003 WHICH IS A SE FROM D SAME DEPARTMENT. D problem with SE is d spaces 4 registration is limited, so within few hour d semester registration begins almost all d space 4 various electives are already subsribed for leaving u stranded.
RESTRICTED ELECTIVES is anoda category. They are like borrowed courses from other dept with and outside ur dept but d faculties are closely related such as social sciences and administration. They add 2 ur cgpa and very compulsory if u fail them, u don enter am be dat.

Sure if anoda powerful handheld console pop-up @ a reasonable cost then why wait 4 d vita. D vita is a wonderful game console no doubt, but it won't appeal 2 me @ dat price especially d games and memcard. Also d vita console itself has d followin shortcomings;
1. D vita's camera.
For d console's screen 2 be dat powerful, isn't it ridiculous its camera is 0.3megapixel.
2. D browser does not support flash content. Sony must be insane.
3. Why not d convention sony memcard (sony will neva show support 4 microSD cards) at least we can use our sony camera memcard or psp memcard wit d vita but no d vita has its own proprietary memcard. In dis age when most device uses d microSD card Sony chose 2 go d way of Apple. All their devices always coming with its exclusive peripherals.
4. From reviews, d battery life isn't dat great...estimated 3 hrs of gameplay. Since sony knows d battery won't last a long time why not make d it a detachable battery so fans can get an extra battery.
5. Merely lookin at d vita console, u will get d impression dat it is a gaming device capable of being an iphone,ipad,tablet,smartphone etc. but sony failed 2 leverage on dis unique look.

Hausa: is d elective really of use?

Bros, without 12 units of special electives [that is, 1 special elective accounts for 2 units exempting few which count for 4 units], a student on a cgpa of 5.0 will not graduate. The compulsory SER 001USE OF ENGLISH accounts for 4 units and u add another 8 units of SE of ur choice. It is easier 2 have all ur electives in ur part1 rain and harmattan semester thats way i'm emphazing u register for it. By part2, u won't have d time to attend SE classes and d attendance matters a lot but now u will have enuf time to attend d classes.
The good side of SE is that failing them comes without consequences with the exception of SER 001 but it adds nothing to ur cgpa. Fail USE OF ENGLISH and one will keep on retaking it till one passes.
Information is a necessary tool u need to equip ursef with 2 have a successful OAU experience.

Olastep: @my miss. From what i heard 4rm a reliable course. Agric students generally offer same courses for d 1st year. Year 2-4 wil be d same tin too with some differences. Only Year 5 will be ur dept gangan.
Thats why ur cert will be B. Agric(ur course) . Anyway, i stand 2 be corrected as usual

Bros, i am relating this from experience.
Let me set some things straight, once d portal opens 4 accommodation on friday and u secure ur bedspace, u will need to printout d bedspace clearance form. U will present d clearance form when u resume on sunday 2 d hall wardens and they will allow u into d halls of residence temporarily and on afterwards u proceed 2 d bank on monday 2 pay 4 d space and u'r secured 4 d session.
U can take any elective within and outside ur faculty but not an elective been handled by ur department.

Attention!!! I ave noticed from d posts that there is so much anxiety in d ouse but relax;
1. DO NOT PAY FOR ACCOMMODATION WHEN THE BEDSPACE HAS NOT BEEN SECURED (it starts on friday 4 freshmen) . Money paid isn't refunded by d skol and if it will be refunded, it takes a cumbersome process except giving d skol 3k doesn't count much 2 u. U only pay after e-portal might have allocated u a bedspace then u pay ur accommodation 2 redeem it. If u do it vice-versa u may end-up forfeiting ur cash 2 d skol only if u'r unlucky not 2 have been allocated a bedspace. Be warned b4 u come back 2 nairaland posting tales of how OAU chop ur money without giving u accommodation.
2. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT, REGISTRATION STARTS 2MARO BY 12NOON, MAKE SURE U REGISTER 4 SPECIAL ELECTIVES AS MANY AS POSSIBLE. UR CORE COURSES ARE REGISTERED AUTOMATICALLY but u ave 2 select d special electives urself. There are limited spaces 4 special electives and it is much easier executing SE in ur Part 1. Some nice electives are SEL 001, SED 001,SEA 001, SEH AND SO ON. Please once e-portal opens 2maro by noon, hit d portal and register those electives. Remember 2 create ur account on d portal by loggin in with ur utme reg numba and a password of ur choice 2 enable u do d above and so fone brower won't permit ur registration use a computer system internet explorer precisely.

Bros, i certainly luv d psvita than u do but d price can kill pesin. Though, i do not mind payin 4 d console itself 38k-50k wifi/3g but d console will be useless without its games and memcard except u wan use am surf d internet which also comes with d price of internet service provider. A good vita game would cost nothing less than 4k and a 16gig memcard as much as 12k. Isn't dat craze? I probably will wait 2 get mine in d next 2 years by then d vita would have been properly jailbroken 2 play homebrews then i can put games on d memcard 4 less than 200naira @ oshodi just has its done with d psp.

Acceptance is d lest of ur worries, u can pay it on campus when u resume. Quite sure it won't be more than 20k but failure 2 secure accommodation on campus is a partial recipe 4 failure 4 part1 students.

Try it now if possible or later. Not sure if eportal has been opened 4 2012/2013 but u can be sure u will be able 2 create an account 2 days b4 1st march or on d said date. As 4 dos waitin 4 payment of acceptance, it will be possible once notice 4 resumption is passed across 2 u thru eportal. Never pay 4 accommodation not secured because money paid is not refunded and oau doesn't collect cash 4rm anyone and make sure u pay into d skol's acct. Dont pay a dime 2 any1 claimin 2 be an officer of d skol.
