I understand me very well, grannie is getting influenced by hanging around people like almondjoy.

Go through her (almond) post and you see nothing but an unpatriotic anti-Nigerian dispostion coupled with her hatred for the predominant male gene. . . is that the X genes again?

When the power hungry band wagon is championed by an angry anti-Nigerian anti male biased sexist, what do you expect?

Granted, Nairaland has to be cleaned up but - cracking jokes with a friend does not equate with going offtopic and telling someone to get a coke does not equate with an insultive post. Do our moderators need re-education and possible an understanding of the rules of engagement? Possibly.

I'm not excited about the liverpool encounter. They have a lot of pedigree in this competition and have what it takes to go all the way.

We have exactly the same team they beat the last time . . . well only Anelka would be different. Now Essien is out of the first leg. I guess having a different manager may be a plus, well that's if the players really believe in him.

With a full squad and the right mentality, we should have a good game.

I hope Grant is already watching their games in the CL. We need a decisive win at home and they must not score. So extra defensive lessons with kuyt and torres in mind. Also we need to work on our defense of set pieces as they may bring on crouch at the later part of the game.

We need to score early and play it tight 4-5-1 Ballack, Lampard and Makalele/Obi.

Fast wingers - I would have called on SWP but Kalou is playing better than he is. We need fighters in all departments.

Talking too much, lets get your response on this guys.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by somze(f): 8:26pm On Apr 09, 2008
Roma is the most useless side to grace the CL.

I've said it before, they should be banned.

Did you guys bribe them? How can you play a penalty like that? I'm going back to work jare.

This is madness!

I've had my post that merely states - you and get a bottle of coke deleted on the pretext of being insultive while someone can call me stupid and nothing is done about it.

I would have preferred Arsenal o, this liverpool get too much wahala for Champions League  undecided

Anyway we are at the Semi's once again and Grant can count himself lucky. We are the 2nd in the league with 3 points in between and for the 3rd time 4 years we are at the semi's in the CL, who says Chelsea lacks class?

nateevs:
I really supported Arsenal. . . I did not want Liverpool for any reason. . . Jose found it difficult. . . Grant can't even talk of tactics with Benitez. .
I dey fear no be small

I warned some Arsenal folks about pool and they would not listen

Lampard scored? Great . . . It's over then.

I'm on the Arsenal's match, you wont believe what just happened.

Theo worked out a beautiful goal and Liverpool replied with a well deserved penalty. Very open game too. Liverpool takes out Torres for Riise . . . na defense o grin

I would think Seun acts on the suggestion of his moderators when it comes to their threads

A simple position can go a long way in exposing the power hungry demon we have in our internal parts.

While Mukina uses offtopic as an excuse to delete every christian post on the religion section, we have iice banning ibkaye for going offtopic.

As much as we have complained about Seun's autocratic style of administration, I'm starting to realise that he had far better sense of judgement and administration than his two appointees.

I've had my posts deleted on the sports thread when I did not engage in a word of insult - the most annoying was when I asked someone to get a coke.

Now we have iice banning users for jokes offtopic in the romance section - Here

We are gradually slipping into the dark waters and it is highly dissapointing to note that it came from the most unlikely of sources.

It is obvious that the loss of JM has really affected his game . . . wink

Anyways concerning our CL game,

I'd like to see a courageous Grant put out a straight attacking side.

Our opponents are fast, good at crosses and can play at the sides and through the middle.

I want Essien as the holding midfielder because Maka would lose steam and pace . . . though he seems to better in vision and has experience.

I want Anelka playing behind Drogba, Joe Cole and Kalou at the sides. Lampard in the centre.

Behind we have Belleti at right back - Where's Ben Haim anyways?

Drogba
Anelka
Kalou / Malouda Lampard Joe Cole
Essien
Cole Terry Carlvalho (is he injured?) Belleti

4play
14 starts, injuries (for about more than a month), absence due to ACN, loss of mentor etc . . . put those into consideration and you'd get to understand those stats.

Adebayor and Ronaldo are this season's best strikers and Drogba who they've both doubled in appearances can be compared to them even using average minutes played per goals.

Get it?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by somze(f): 5:11pm On Apr 08, 2008
Drogba is one of the best strikers in the premiership. Look at some stats I got from another forum -

Name Didier Drogba
Team Chelsea
Total Appearances 16
Starts 14
Substituted 4
Total Minutes Played 1278
Avg Minutes Played Per Start 91.29
Goals 8
Avg Goal Mins When Starting 26.6
Avg Mins Played/Goal Scored 160
Goals Scored As Sub 0

Compared against say, The top scoring striker in the league:

Name Manuel Adebayor
Team Arsenal
Total Appearances 30
Starts 28
Substituted 6
Total Minutes Played 2513
Avg Minutes Played Per Start 89.75
Goals 19
Avg Goal Mins When Starting 30.6
Avg Mins Played/Goal Scored 132
Goals Scored As Sub 1

Let's go the whole hog,

Name Cristiano Ronaldo
Team Manchester United
Total Appearances 28
Starts 26
Substituted 3
Total Minutes Played 2302
Avg Minutes Played Per Start 88.54
Goals 26
Avg Goal Mins When Starting 49.4
Avg Mins Played/Goal Scored 89
Goals Scored As Sub 0

The stats hold up.
On League goals per minute Drogba beats Ronaldo AND Adebayor.

I also reckon he's doing okay on the assists front as well.
Oh I'd also bet he's got more 'in his own box' clearances than any Forward too.

Drogba isn't just about goals, but if he was he'd be good enough for any team in any league

IMHO.
Personally I wouldn't look at replacing him just yet.

It totally makes sense from that angle, who would criticize a player even before he has kicked a ball in the year? Makes no sense.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by somze(f): 7:13pm On Apr 07, 2008
Cech and Ballack? Are they even senior players? This would have been worthwhile if it was Lampard or Terry.

I guess we should depend on Anelka that is under a curse to miss even at close range. Anelka is getting close to Kezman with respect to goals scored in the EPL in his Chelsea career.

We should be concentrating on news concerning our CL quarters. Can maka or ballack or Cech play centre forward and score the goals we need to win the match and advance to the semis? I think this news source is just trying to unsettle our players with this cheap shot.

The fact that anyone questioned Drogba's contribution even before the Carling Cup (his first match for Chelsea this year, just after ACN) exposes the lack of credibility of this source.

This story is baseless.

hmm .thank you for confirming for us what we already know - political posts are for the rich and connected - never mind if they have no skills character or morals.

the purpose of this thread was to highlight the 'leadership material' convenant university is producing. the lumin would have us believe that it is the harvard/yale of nigeria . as a school grounded in 'moral tenets, etal,' its alumni would have us believe that it represnets the solutions to nigeria's problems, problems that the poor graduates of the lesser universities have been unable to solve.
Only those wealthy ones can be appointed when they are off in youth camp without due process or screening by the house of assembly.
Another avenue created for money laundering, looting and corruption.

oyb:
never mind that so many of the students there are children of corrupt politicains.

shebi it was gamine that said that the imo state governor( of woman beating fame)'s son is in CU? what can we really expect from this institution?
A whole group of corrupt politicians, appointed as soon as they possess their worthless paper certificate.

Use your head, this in Nigeria,
How can some one in youth camp (just starting service) be appointed commissioner? What was the criteria for choosing him?
Say hello to Godfatherism, political maneuvering and corruption.

people can beef especially the poor ones. Anyway thats by the way.

Just because he has been made a commissioner, he must be corrupt abi. If the good ones shy away from political appointment, how will Nigeria change.
Poor ones? lol wealthy one
Nairaland wont kill me.

Can you explain how a graduate without experience was made a commissioner while he was away at NYSC camp. That alone is illegitimate, as you must have completed your youth service or possess an exemption certificate before you are even considered as a candidate for public office.

Again explain the due process involved that makes this graduate a suitable and qualified candidate for commissioner.

This is an open display of Obasanjo's styled corruption and if you think we'd applaud and celebrate this malfeasance you'd best think again.

In a month we'd probably get a millionaire out of our new graduate and have another reason to hypocritically celebrate achievement,

Drinks anyone?
