budaatum: You don't understand what I am posting here, May. You are limiting yourself to what is written in only one book, and you think I am limited too.
The New Testament clearly states that “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
The question to ponder would then be, what exactly is "my son", along with who the "I" doing the calling was, and what exactly Egypt has to do with anything, and is where I'd expect Sonmvayina to come explain what this allegory means. Out of Egypt I called my son(jacob) The son is Israel/Jacob.. You don't understand as much as you think you do... |

The stories are not only allegories, son, they are also mythology.
Please post the meaning of mythology so I know what you understand. You wish, They are allegorical and myth.. Then why single out Jesus like he actually existed ? |

budaatum: This will require multiple answers as it is multiple questions.
1. buda is not a believer. I choose to understand.
2. I am still an atheist (and a Bible reader, and a Quran reader, to name a few). Gods are the figment of the imaginations of those in whom gods have been created. My Lord and Happy prove that fact. They believed what they did not understand. One shouldn't read Things Fall Apart, for instance, and start believing an Okonkwo killed an actual Ikemefuna, so why read a book and start believing in gods?
3. I never had anything against Jesus (the Logos). That would imply a refusal or an inability to read and reason - as in, ask and seek and knock - with one's own senses. I'd call my self a word worshipper. Worship, as in, read and endeavour to understand.
My first God book was Homer's Odyseus, followed by Egyptian gods. One didn't believe in those gods so it would be absurd to believe in gods one reads elsewhere instead of try to understand what one reads.
NB. I feel I haven't answered you, and just remedied your assumptions. Apologies. You are just confused... In one breath you talk about reading and understanding In another you talk about actual people in the stories.. Why is it hard to know the stories are allegories? And understood as such. |

Some ancient Hebrews told their people not to make image or likeness of anything and call it god. How is that “God’s law”? Are the Hebrew scribes “God”? How does it apply to people who don’t venerate the Hebrews? It's all about knowledge of self...the Hebrew Scriptures makes perfect sense to me, because it is based on logic... Worshiping anything outside of yourself is idolatry.. |

haekymbahd: John 17 4 I have glorified You down here on the earth by completing the work that You gave Me to do.
Jesus said he had completed the assignment given to him on earth by God. He did send his disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel.
Why did Jesus need to appear to Paul or come to establish Jehova witness in 1914 after he was through with his mission and had sent his disciples already?
Why do trinitarians disbelieve in 1914 Jesus but beleived in the bright light that appeared to Paul?
Matthew 24:23-28 New International Version 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
Jesus came and the whole world didn't know is that a true or false Jesus? The whole idea of Jesus is all based on lies and fabrication.. Just learn God's laws and obey them. It includes not making the image or likeness of anything on earth, heaven and under the waters below the earth...it prohibits creating a god in the image of a man..desist from it. Don't be deceived. |

Christianity Etc › Re: The Essence Of Christ's Death For Us by sonmvayina(m): 2:35pm On Apr 19, 2022 |
Jesus wasn’t a sin offering. The entire scope of christology is based on the idea that Jesus was the ultimate Yom Kippur sin sacrifice. Yom Kippur was the time when the priests made atonement for the entire nation of Israel. Jesus, it is claimed, came to save and atone the entire nation of Israel. Such an atonement would take place on Yom Kippur, not Passover, when no sin sacrifice was made. Such an atonement would involve a goat, not a lamb. Numbers 29, Leviticus 16. Jesus is portrayed as a lamb of God, not a goat. He was not sacrificed on an altar, or by any Jewish priest. There is no possibility in God’s highly-structured system for sacrifice and forgiveness in which a group of non-Jews could sacrifice on behalf of the Jewish People, could use a non-goat for the sin sacrifice, or atonement could be obtained on a cross. Christians can believe that a Roman execution is a sacrifice, but that doesn’t make it so any more than I can say that a pancake is the US Constitution. During this holy time of year for Jews, Christians want very much to insert Jesus into the mix, but to be honest, he’s meaningless in the context of the Passover holiday and devoid of symbolism in the context of our redemption by God from slavery. The grand opus that constitutes our salvation from Egypt and journey to freedom has no room for the theology of Christianity or the mythology of one Jew whose claim to fame is that he (allegedly) died for everyone’s sins, past, present and future. |

Acehart: You seem to be new to the Bible. You seem never to have read it through. You are like a man taking a trip to Abuja and says he knows Ondo State just because his vehicle took him through that state? You have done a lazy man’s work.
Ezekiel 20 shows even a child that Israel broke the sabbaths not God. Even babies know that the ordinances were for the children of Israel (Exodus 18) and their teacher was Moses.
For the Christian, their teacher is Christ alone. Even God says to Prophet Jeremiah and Ezekiel that the Law of Moses will be done away with. Maybe you still use a Nokia 3310 and an Android or an iOS device is of no use to you. Christians don’t use the Law because it has been abolished by God himself, He has finished its production. I want to see the passages or the prophesies... |

haekymbahd: God made a covenant with the isrealite concerning keeping of the sabbath
Exodus 31 16 Wherefore the Israelites shall keep the Sabbath to observe it throughout their generations, a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between Me and the Israelites forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and earth, and on the seventh day He ceased and was refreshed.
Now christians don't keep sabbath because it has been abolished.
Why did God breaks his own law of sabbath after saying it was a sign with isrealites forever did God intentionally made the Jews go against Jesus or there is a hole in the narration because I dont see any reason why Jews should beleive Jesus with that Statement does it make sense to you? No it doesn't.. Jesus was neither a jew or god. He is a creation of the Roman/ Greek elites.. Why they added it at the back of the Jewish scriptures which ended in Malachi is well beyond me. I did ask the jews. And the answer I got was THERE IS NO JESUS IN THE JEWISH SCRIPTURES

Christianity Etc › Re: What Is God? by sonmvayina(m): 2:01pm On Apr 19, 2022 |
budaatum: I'll put this down to your inability to understand the use of the word. In truth, gods only live in the minds of people, and once the minds stop accomodating the gods and worshipping them stops they die off. You don't read to understand do you? All you want to do is respond without thinking. I said gods are the personification of the principle of life. Whether people worship them or not. They are always there. The only difference now is that we understand that they are within us rather than outside of us. For example Ekwensu is the God of cross roads, rather than go and meet an Ekwensu priest you weigh all your options within and take your decision. I really don't know how else to stress it.. [qoute] God too never existed, sonm. Yet here are we discussing and learning regardless. There is a reason "a thriving Cult, in Egypt and around the Roman empire" survives till this day.
You are not showing sign you understand anything. I have shouted at the top of my voice that the universe is what is called God. We are part of it and it is part of us. Anything within it is important. gods are simply laws and principles within the universe.. Understand what I have written, if you don't ask me based on the point you are not clear. I will clarify for you... |

@op, you must understand that this life of yours is 100% your responsibility, nobody is coming from anywhere to save or rapture you. Our ancestors understand that every human is unique and has a destiny to fulfil. They usually consult their ancestors to give them direction when they loose their way. We are all Gods having a human experience... What they normally do is sit down at evening time and tell stories with messages to learn from it..
