Politics › Re: Wike To FG: Stop Deceiving Endsars Protesters…you’re Not Being Sincere by sonofthunder: 7:00am On Oct 17, 2020 |
princechina: Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has asked the federal government to stop pretending that it was sincere about meeting the demands of EndSARS protesters to end police brutality in the country.
Governor Wike accused the federal government of paying lip service to the demands of the #EndSARS protesters by directing state governors to set up judicial panels of enquiry to investigate and identify erring police officers for prosecution.
The governor spoke in a live interview that was aired by AIT from Port Harcourt, the rivers state capital, on Friday.
The National Executive Council (NEC), which issued the directive to state governors, had said the that panels were expected to conclude the investigation within six months and report back to the federal government.
“What judicial panel of enquiry are you talking about?” Wike had said when asked to speak on it.
The governor recalled that a panel he set up two years ago to investigate SARS in Rivers State had allegedly indicted several operatives of the defunct police unit, but that the police and federal government failed to act on it because they were “playing politics”.
Wike said, “The Rivers State Government had set up a judicial panel of enquiry…most officers of SARS were indicted. We sent it to the police. Have they implemented it?
“Why? Because they were playing politics with it. Now you’re directing me again to go and set up judicial enquiry. Who is going to pay for that? Go and implement the one that was set up before…tell your police to implement the one that was set up before that indicted some of these officers.
“I don’t need to be directed. I know my job and I’ve done it two years ago, but you refused to implement it simply because you believed that SARS was working for you.”
Wike also dismissed NEC’s directive that state governors should supervise the new tactical squad that is being set up by the police to replace the defunct SARS.
He said, “You’re telling me now that governors should supervise the tactical units. When did governors become so powerful to control the police? To now begin to supervise the tactical units?
“Is it not the same governors you said would use [them] for politics that you are now telling to supervise? I did not appoint the people; the Commissioner of Police is not under me. How do I supervise.”
Wike further called on the federal government to be sincere with Nigerians if truly wants to solve the complaints about police brutality in the country.
He said, “Don’t make the public believe that you’re trying to solve the problem when you know sincerely that you’re not solving any problem. So, I cannot begin to jump up as a state governor because we have been told to do so when we know it would not work.”

Sonfethopia: The delta state governor Senator doctor Ifeanyi Okowa has swiftly created an eight man committee which will be inagurated on Monday.
The commitee which consist of notable persons from different sectors of the economy will take charge of complains and review all cases of SARS illegal killings/touture in the state.
The chairman of the commitee is Hon. Celestina Ogosi, the committee also consist of human right activist Harrison Gwannishu and Instagram influnfer Mr jolof.
This is a good development, I urge all other states to be swift in their response also so that the victims can get justice.
If you reside in delta state and you're a victim of SARS or police brutality, this is the time to speak up.

Monchadam: Hi.
My friend died around June this year and she was buried quickly. Before that, we were close pals, we weren't dating, but she was my friend, and I loved her, she loved me too. When I went through hard times she was with me. In her absence and in her presence, she sent me messages daily on how I should own the day and make it fruitful, we created memories together.
Even in my anger, she would hold me in silence, I've never experienced that kind of love from anyone, never before.
I honestly would have married her, when the time was right, I'm sure of that. The purest soul I've met. She shared everything with me, as I did with her. And always wanted to know what went through my mind.
To the problems she couldn't solve, she held me and stayed silent.
I'm still broken till date, I cant move on, I just cant. I still call her number to see if it would go.
How do I move on guys? It still hurts, that the only person who really loved and cared decided to leave this world.
I need your advice on how to move on. Thank you Count your blessings sir, count your blessings..... You can ask yourself if she'll want your to be sad, sorrowful, depressed or to pick yourself up? You may need to fight through the emotions daily.p, and the best way is to simply "count your blessings". |

I thought those lectures think but no, all they do is sit back and stick to the same old methods even in their academic works. 9jatriot: LOL @the bolded. So that we are on the same page, let me paint a scenario for you. Assuming you own a big company that has branches in 10 states, and each of these states have at least 2 branches in them. You noticed that you cannot be in all those places at the same time. Once in a while you discover that you pay a staff salary twice in various branches. You also discover that the bill the branches are bringing each month for salary is increasing yet you cannot remember employing any extra person since the last time you did recruitment, what would you do in this situation.
I can bet you, you will try to find a system that will not make you run mad. Assuming I come to you with a system that gives a unique number to each staff and I promise you that with this system, the era of paying one staff more than once would be gone, would you not happily embrace it?
Now assuming you tell management to implement it across all the branches, would you not be suspicious if those staff start giving excuses why they cannot use that system and instead come up with their own so called system. Now, tell me, as the owner of this big business, would you decide to use their own system or be extra motivated to use your own system? You keep missing the point. ASUU has no problem with fishing out ghost workers or staff earning multiple salaries. Maybe you should tell me, why is ASUU against joining ippis? If all you have to say is already in the post mentioned then I don't think we have anything to discuss anymore. |

9jatriot: It is probably not fair, ,but how does that relate to registering on IPPIS is what I do not understand. The combination of CBN, FIRS and NNPC cannot absorb the number of employees that universities in Nigeria employ, every body cannot be in those companies. An issue lead to me making this point. It is wrong of you to dismiss it casually. Ask your self the payment system proposed by ASUU, does it negate genuine FG concerns ! |

I remember being invited for CBN test many years ago, this I know as much. I believe they tend to take their staffs from bank staffs now a days Only one CBN recruitment in the last 10+ years. NNPC has advertised recruitment twice in the last 13 years. Till date those two recruitments has not been completed but strange people are resuming work and receiving appointment letters...... I don't think ASUU is saying an outright NO to IPPIS but that it should include their core areas of interest which is presently absent.
ASUU proposed an integrated payment platform that will take care of this problem but FG insists it must be IPPIS as it is or nothing.
I work in a FG research organisation and I can tell you authoritatively that we have not been able to employ staff on sabbatical or on research visits since the inception of IPPIS. To me, this is one of the things that make a university a UNIVERSITY! Spot on boss. Most people just judge an issue without even understanding what is going on. |

Nazgul: That's because we're in rainy season...there's enough water in the dam. Once dry season approaches we'd begin to experience epilithic power supply Not really true..... With the new electricity tarrifs coming into place, they cannot charge you higher if you don't use up to a certain amount of electricity per month. Also, power generation did not really go up. These companies just used to reject power from the generation companies, give you 2-4hrs power per day and charge you estimated billing. Water has never finished in the dams and has nothing to do with dry or raining season. |

They are busy sleeping with students. The same machines oyinbo installed in higher institutions in 19gbogbo is what they are still using, no invention. Students who fail under your watch are the best abroad. The same certificate they give us and they are so proud is not employabl in any developed country (except individual outstandin skills). ASUP extended retirement age to 65 years for non teaching staff and 70 years forteaching staff, they want to die there. They are fighting for us yet they can't leave the job. ASUP is using us to expand their CV, tthey collect PTFund to study abroad, if the school they so much work on is soo good, why go abroad for MSc and PhD, do it here.
