I always tell people that if you understand the purpose of dating and what relationship is really about, you will know that a man paying for date isn't the golden rule.

If you leave a guy who has shown qualities of a good husband or father simply because he didn't pay for your date, then you are not ready for the relationship. If you can't pay for your meal then you should get a job not dating. If he insists that he wants to pay then allow him but try to insist once in a while.

If you want to capture a man with ease, go shopping with him to buy food ingredients, cook a nice meal and both of you eat. For security reasons, you can put the food in a flask and take the date somewhere else.

If you must go to a nice place for a date, then atleast buy him a small gift to show appreciation. It can be a keyholder or anything.

My now husband didn't pay when we go on dates/outings.
We used to foot our bills separately.
He never bought me any gift or gave me money and vice versa.
We dated for 8 months and got married .
It's been 7 years plus and we are cool.
He started buying me gifts after we got married but I still find it difficult to reciprocate

When I was dating my now husband, we both paid our bills. if I didn't have money to pay when I go out, I cancel the outing. This was because we agreed on "no sex, no spending".

We didn't wed in church.
We had court and traditional marriage ceremonies.
I stopped going to church when I got into the university. And for almost 18 years now, I haven't attended any church service.
We did not dedicate our children in any church or religious gathering and we are all doing well.

I'm not even arguing about that. It's the sad situation of no celebrating your husband once in a while with little gifts while he does it for you on occasions. It's just so sad.

It's not a matter of being a wife with kids , it's a matter of being selfishly self-centred. Start listening to his own complaints at least. Stop being rigid, you will not die if you gift him things once in a while. Try to care about his own happiness too .
