kaynine59: VO say I neva satisfy am I'd leave Canada at d end of my studies... The reasons are thus;
*Travel History
*Lenght of proposed stay in canada
*Purpose of visit (I wan go farm whale from mosquito mouth for one village in vancouver)
*Your current employment situation
*Your personal assets and financial status
These were dia reasons for refusal... Only me all dis many tins.. I got confused about this SOP of a thing cos I dnt think I wrote a separate letter. I only joined this forum afta I submitted my docs (which I gravely regret). There was a form like a questionnaire that was what I thought was the SOP and I filled it well... Stating reason I wanna go for my course in Canada and how I'd come back and input all av learnt in Canada to Nigeria and I mentioned global warming this that that Nigerian tertiary institutions don't have what it takes to broaden our scope as regards that. It was when I joined this forum I realized one has to draft an SOP and SOP is different from the questionnaire. I am a very careful and efficient guy... I know I studied that checklist for 2weeks before I applied and provided all docs. But I guess the checklist isn't sh*t.
These are d docs I submitted.
*sponsors proof of financial commitment to me (sponsor is a blood bro who earns well in an oil firm in the USA. He's a citizen too)
*SOA of $29'000 from sponsor (closing balance for last 6months afta all expenses)
*sponsors US passport data page
*sponsors work ID
*sponsors tax receipts from 2013 and 2014
*acceptance letter and estimated study expense list from Niagara College. Fee expense for a year is $23k (accommodation tuition and all) tuition is 14k. Paid 7k afta I submitted so ddnt include d receipt.
*all docs (application forms, nysc cert, transcripts, WAEC result, uni result, uni certificate, police report,)
*my final year dissertation (summary) on pollution from agro based insecticides, how it affects man and the environment. From consumption and etc
*I studied Marine science. Going for environmental management and Assessment. I work in a real. Estate firm.
I ddnt include land docs (which my late dad has I ddnt see it important to add my mistake)
I ddnt include employment letter and study leave. I filled in d cic form that I work tho.
I have been to Ghana and 2 oda African countries. Passport no de carry dose si I guess de ddnt believe but I filled all dat in d form
House pls added inputs in refiring would help. Thanks We dey The Same boat bro, its called Bewilderment |

justwise: You are being unnecessarily defensive for nothing, you still don't get it.
You did not answer the question.....is the 25m her business profit or her business capital? Did you include her tax certificate? How many people did she employ in her business? E.g tax certificate will give an idea how well the business is doing. Your sister can only sponsor you with her net profit and not the gross.
Having 25m in her account as a business woman does not mean that she can afford to sponsor you.
The most important thing is cash availability for you throughout the duration of your study. Bro no defense here, trying to ascertain my loophole simple Just wonder who is that person liking your post without putting his/her own input. There was no tax certificate, have no idea where to get that, i also had a co-sponsor, care to through light on that too? |

If yes, the fixed deposit and treasury bills are ok, let her just have some liquid cash in her account. You can list them on your SOP in your conclusion i.e items attached are as follows:Treasury bill certificate worth........,FD certificate of...... Yes it was the only thing ticked. I can only assume that they needed to see huge physical cash in the SOAs, that all i can think for now. Will re-apply with same docs, the SOAs should be much liquid now. My headache is that May doesn't have related programs, and most schools don't have either. |

Sodikworld: i'll like bring your awareness to something about fixed deposit because i also used fixed in application of my TRV: what i did was: telling my account officer to issue me something like fixed deposit cert with bank letter head paper and stating on it that after maturity the fixed cash should be roll over for the next three months, because VO are wise: so they'll the understand the availability of the cash for my studies That is exactly the same thing i was issued bro. |

Of course i indicated that on my app and SOP, working in my sisters company, which she also indicated in her letter of support. Even though i didn't put a letter of employment (which i will do in my re-application). But the truth of it is no job will be waiting for anyone for 2yrs while you are away for post graduate, less of it in a country like Naija. |

justwise: 1. If she earns 8m a year and her account is running low what does that tell you?
2. If a business person has 25m in the account, how much of that money is actual profit? 1. I provided a treasury bill of 10m that was due to mature in a week bought through her bank and certificate issued. 2. 25m was fixed deposit also due to mature in a week as at the time of my application. You probably didn't read details of my app sha, I provide both account SOA and fixed deposits of both sponsor and co sponsor. Unless you are telling me that fixed deposit are not valid. |

redribs: @pchax I understand your concern and the idea you are proposing. Using PMs (and emails) still can work...and is safer too. Using a cloud method simply brings back same issue you are trying to address; the problem of having so many advises and not knowing which is best to choose. I am of the school of thought that "you are the best composer of your SOP" because... well, it's your purpose and not anyone else's... only thing one could need help with is how to use the words technically and properly (punctuation and grammar edits, basically) and this can be gotten from friends, family and even anonymous friends here on the forum (using PMs and email).
I have also been analysing this rampant refusals because really, it is getting worrisome ... but contrary to your idea, addressing the SOP was not even on my list (maybe I'm missing something). First thing we should understand, is that, simply listing out docs submitted does not give a true and exact picture of our file. It only gives hints and ideas. Having said that, I prefer to play within the stated reason for refusal because... well, at least it points me in a direction to start with my analysis. The only reason I suspect that can emanate from an incoherent SOP will be "purpose of visit"...and that's not as common as the baba of all the reasons; "insufficient funds". Ok, maybe the letter of explanation might explain the financial docs to a clear perspective but if anything, I think being able to display sufficient funds from a reasonable sponsor can even be self-explanatory... as per u know? MONEY TALKS na.
Been trying really hard not to drop long posts these days because I dread my medicals not coming in this part 6 but since I've started lemme just kuku finish. Pardon my long talk, I'm a very expressive guy . Besides it might give good insight to people that have plans to apply.
So as I was saying, financial statements, as simple as they might seem, they can tell a lot about a person's financial behaviour. (Especially for the fact that the one CIC requires is over a stretch of 6 months). People are highly trained to be able to analyse these docs. I can imagine that these VOs are ACCA professionals and stuff. I'm just trying to point out that it's possible that these VOs actually do immerse themselves in these financial docs to the extent of getting really personal. Like they can use the financial docs submitted to make out a story that they think you are trying to portray and if a confusing part of the story can not be explained, they tell you they are "not convinced". That's what I suspect really happens. I even heard (but don't quote me o) that they also contact the banks during the processing time to verify the authenticity of the financial statement and as well as the funds/balance at different times because they are legally bound. It's a plausible thought because really, why else will it take so many weeks to process an application?
In summary sha, applicants should ensure a good bidirectional flow, a reasonable balance, a reasonable sponsor, an authentic sponsor's consent and lastly, ensure that the balance remains reasonable throughout the application process ... and this is where I think most people need to address. Also, if you are using a sponsor that you are not a direct dependant of, I suggest you try to pay your full tuition for a year and have some reasonable funds in your personal account to cover living expenses for the first few weeks/months.
Just my thoughts sha, cos really, I don't know sh*t. Mr redribs Nice insight but let me tell you why my app was a shock to everyone. My sponsor is a senior banking offical with annual package of more than 8m, still single and blood siblibing, though balance was low, it was actually her salary account. co sponsor was a business owner with a very high volume of transaction in her business account and a fdp of 25m, Still blood sibling and single. I am the last sibling and every other person in the family has a permanent good job including my bro who just finished his pdg has a good offical job in canny. So insufficient funds was the last excuse anyone expected to be the reason for refusal. My SOP i consider very brilliant because I addressed every aspect of my life and benefits of the program. I read this thread everyday and i have reasons to believe that between sept and November the VOS got really harsh. Which makes me beat myself why I didn't apply really early as i had my admission since may-june, i was waiting for a program from another school but when it wasn't forth coming,i decided to use what I already have. Plus I felt I should let them treat sept applicants, now I know better. I will give it one more try adding a few more things to my app and my sure there is liquid cash in the SOA. We can only do what we can and hope for on God for the best. |

redribs: @standupguy sorry about the refusal. I'm really shaken by the development cos trust me, watching an applicant right in front of you get hammered out is a really scary and discouraging sight...but God dey. Just like someone suggested already, you could reapply with the same docs (which btw I think were not bad) and your application will be approved. What to do now is to contact your school about the refusal and ask if you can be considered for the next available semester. You might need to pay a new application fee and fill a fresh app form but they will most likely still have your transcript so a decision will be reached in a few days or weeks. If that happens, I guess you can just wait it out will till then. Might seem like a long wait but you shouldn't let it bother u. Good things take time. Thanks bro, honestly I felt the weight of it this morning. After going through all my docs sha and considering that my older bro used only one of my sponsors for his, i could only conclude that the VO that handled my app is nut job. My main headache now is getting a program, the one I applied with has only one intake per session and nothing closely related for May. The school has already offered to refund the tuition I paid. |

Tsola6: Hi, I think the issue is with ur SOA. I might be wrong tho. ow long is d fixed deposit for? Asin wen is it suppose to mature? I think d problm myt b dere. If it wont mature b4 january, dey wud wonder.expecially as dere isnt dat much cash available. As for ur oda sponsor, u cant sponsor sum1 with a balance of 0.85naira. Evn if d credit debit is 80million, d available cash matters too. Like i said, i might b wrong. The fixed was just for 3 months i guess and it was set to be mature by the end of last October. The Treasury bills were also ready to be mature the end of last October The SOA was actually stupid in my own view but then when you work with difficult people its hard to make them understand. We argued and quarreled over that balance but she reminded me of how she has been to many countries and how many years she has worked in a bank and that only the cash flow matters. Wetin man go do when na beg you dey beg to documents. |

Very bleak day as CIC did not grant my application. I am thrown into absolute confusion as to why i was refused even though the only reasons highlighted was insufficient funds. These documents listed was used my older brother who graduated 4 months ago and now has a job.
Sponsors Certificate of incorporation Sponsor SOA Bal. 1.5m, Fixed deposit 25m, Total debt and credit over 108m. Sponsor Passport (Blood Sister). Sponsor baptismal certificate (birth certificate eaten by rats). Sponsor letter of support Sponsor affidavit of support
Co Sponsor (Blood Sister) Co Sponsor Letter of Intro. (Head of Operations leading Nigerian bank) Co Sponsor Property doc. Co Sponsor SOA 85 Naira Total credit/debit 22M (very funny she didn't want to give me her main account. she said all they needed was to see the cash flow, we argued the thing tire) Co Sponsor Certificate of treasury bill 10M Co Sponsor baptismal certificate (birth certificate eaten by rats). Co Sponsor letter of support Co Sponsor affidavit of support Co sponsor Passport My Passport Police report Nysc discharge Family I.Ds School fees receipt (7000k) Paid Beautiful Statement of Purpose

An abstract question, does having a blood brother in Canada who finished PGD and works in canada now an advantage or disadvantage to one's application? |
