Good point, who would you expect to decline more at that age, Olajuwon or Pierce. Again you confirmed my point strengths are not evenly distributed. Meanwhile Paul pierce played with Garnett and Ray Allen at a point, so he didn't have ot carry a lot of load for lon periods either.
There's no parameter to determine who should decline faster.

And Jordan had Pippen and co so he didn't do it alone as well, as you saw that he couldn't do it all alone in Washington. Likewise LeBron. He did it with the Heat and Cave because he had support, but he couldn't do it with the Lakers because he lacked support.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 1:40pm On May 25, 2019
benji93:
No i am not, Olajuwon played till 2002, when he was 39, do you know how many points he averaged that year? In fact his decline became more drastic after 1997, when he was 34. Perhaps his body could no longer hold the weight of carrying a team. So you can play till 50, but how impactful can you be be at 50. Do you know how long Lebron has been in his prime? that is unlike most other superstars, he is probably in his own category on that note. Kareem's longevity was particularly enhanced by the fact that he played with some other beasts, one superstar comes to mind, so he didn't have to carry much load, he got carried sometimes.
Paul Pierce averaged 19 points at age 34, 35 and 36, which is not exactly a steep decline

That is the thing, life is not fair. If you don't understand that, then you have a lot to learn. The distribution of strengths in nature is not exactly fair, or perhaps, they are just enhancements. It's not about rights, "human rights no dey share talent" grin . It is what it is.
You're making this claim just to favour your argument. You were not in their bodies to know that they weren't athletic after the age of 34. How can somebody be thrash at 34 and still play till he is 41? That doesn't make sense. Even Jordan didn't play till 41. Not to talk about all the years he missed in between.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 1:01pm On May 25, 2019
benji93:
Are you kidding me, it's like saying we all have the same level of intelligence or we all have the same level of athletism. We can all be athletic, but some are definitely more athletic than others, and in terms of durability, longevity and an extension of superstardom, a lot of factors come into play, including previous injuries, personal care(Lebron can give you some advice, if he is not taking steroids). So i am afraid, if jason Kidd was a farmer, then there were better farmers.
Like I said, all these players in question are hall of famers. Or are you telling me that only MJ and LeBron have the right to be athletic at 34. Like they have some sort of super powers that the rest of the NBA players don't have?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 7:06am On May 25, 2019
benji93:
You do't get it, this was a match up against Lebron, making the all star team does not mean you are capable of driving a team to later stages of the play offs. A lot of stuffs drives the selection, making the all-star team does not mean you are still as impactful.
You didn't get the part where I said Jordan was MVP at 35, and still was finals MVP and won the ring.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 7:02am On May 25, 2019
benji93:
Are you comparing Kidd to Jordan or Lebron. You don't get it bro. Players are different. Kidd at 34 is not the same as Jordan at 34. Some players fade away earlier than others, it usually becomes obvious as their careers unfold. So when he says Kidd at 34, he meant Kidd didn't have much left in his tank at 34.
Invalid point. Are they not all athletes? Or was Jason Kidd a farmer? Jason Kidd is a hall of famer for crying out loud. So as KG and PP. Jason Kidd played till he was 41, he couldn't have been washed up at 34.

That's the friggin point!!!!

Nobody was fighting fair!! Now you understand

One-legged Wade outplayed LeNomad in an NBA Finals. Put some respeck on his name

Chauncey Billups was 34 when he joined the Knicks. Leeemaoo. Try another example

Nobody expected dominance from Melo and Amare alone. We saw how injuries wrecked Amare and he was cooked after that season

Because Wade's second best player was Mario goddamn Chalmers

Jefferson not an all-star. Kidd was 34

Kevin Love was a matchup issue with Draymond Green. He played well the entire season so don't come here and rubbish his contributions. He made arguably the most important stop despite having an average series by his standards. If 16-10 with his usage is playing horribly then I wonder who is playing exceptionally
LeBron is 34, Jordan was 35 when he won his 5th MVP, so quit all these age excuses.

I'll take Paul George. He has the better all round game of the three
Another perspective. But you can't have an unprecedented season like Harden and not be MVP. Take Curry's 2nd MVP season and Westbrook's triple double season, those were marvelous individual achievements, and it would be hypocritical of the NBA not to continue with that trend.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 9:52pm On May 24, 2019
A40:
Why would LeNomad join an old Celtics team?As a 26 year old where is the sense in joining teammates 7+ years your senior? Number 1 they could not afford him. The Cap situation back then did not allow it.

Secondly. Bosh and Wade not getting to the Finals was the function of being in average to mediocre teams. KG, PP and Allen had gone to 0 NBA Finals before they teamed up. Yet we knew that getting there was a foregone conclusion the day they joined

Now for you to sit and tell me that three all-time greats would form a team and not have an unfairly enhanced chance of getting to an NBA Finals is being intellectually dishonest never mind 3 young players just reaching their primes.
Thus LeBron joining them to help them. You're proving my point.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:37pm On May 24, 2019
I don't agree with Kellerman saying Harden doesn't deserve to be on all NBA first team. In fact, I think Harden should be MVP too.

Did I say they were not potent? You would rather rush to type instead of paying attention. They averaged those numbers in their 30's, LeNomad did it in their 20's. The Heat had more time to expect more elite production the Celtics didn't

LeNomad gathered players that averaged this
Chris Bosh - 24-10-2
Dwyane Wade - 26-4-6

To fight 35 and 36 year olds that were averaging
Paul Pierce - 18-4-3
Kevin Garnett - 14-7
Ray Allen - 16-3

That is the crux of this present matter. Don't moonwalk to old arguments

They were in their athletic primes. Stop comparing their title window to that of the Celtics.

Everybody expected the Celtics and Heatles to steamroll the league. Some of us are very long in the tooth and actively followed basketball back then so don't come and revise history for us. The Celtics had just one major threat which was Kobe and the Lakers

If bringing 3 All-stars did not guarantee domination then the Celtics would not have gone from a 24-58 team to a 66-16 team in one season, neither would the Heat jump from not making the playoffs to 4 straight Finals.

Imagine someone telling me 27 year olds averaging these numbers would not dominate the league

Chris Bosh - 24-10-2
Dwyane Wade - 26-4-6
LeNomad James - 29-7-8

Sakamanje

A 16-10 and 17-8 bum. If that's what it takes to be a bum I'd hate to know what you need to do to be an all-star

I no just wan hear any excuses next season
You're just changing the argument to run away from the original topic. Even though Bosh and Wade were averaging those high numbers, they hadn't gone to the Eastern conference finals let alone the NBA finals in the last 4 years before LeBron joined them. Whereas KG and PP, even though they averaged those low numbers, they had gone to the NBA finals in 2 of the previous 4 years. If LeBron chose to join the Celtics then, that would have been considered a weak move. But no, he decided to join the team who needed help.

Which kin yeye prime. KG and Ray Allen were in their 12th and 13th season in the league. Even Paul Pierce the youngest of the bunch was in his 10th season.

Are you asking me if the Celtics didn't become the best team in the league? They literally vaulted from 24-58 to the best record in the league.

If there were no guarantees that they were the best team then that is an even bigger indictment on your LeNomad who ran to Miami because he couldn't beat them and ran after his second attempt so make up your mind.

How often has anyone beaten two three all-star teams in one postseason with just one all-star? Not even your LeNomad did it so take several seats

They humiliated him but came crying to him literally to come and save them. He saved them and led them to two more rings. Shikena
LeBron is entering his 16th season and he's still in his prime, so what's your point?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:51pm On May 23, 2019
A40:
They both took shortcuts to rings. Whoever took the shorter cut is not really my concern. A short cut is a short cut
The difference is KD left Russ who was an Allstar, to go team up with 3 allstars. LeBron didn't have anyone in Cleveland when he left. He was the one who needed help, not KD who reached the Conference final the year before he left. I mean, that is flat out weakness.

I agree, Lebron empowered free agents to make their decisions. KD corrupted it. Like WTF? Just because i know i can get away with poisoning a pond does that mean i should do iT? Another reason KD is so sensitive to these things is because deep down he knows its true. Theres no way about it, he may have done whats "best" for him but that move was hella weak. The weakest move in NBA history.
The weakest move in the history of sports.

You dey alright. Unanimously kini, you no wetin that word mean sa. I am not particularly a fan of KD self, but honestly, he learnt form the trail blazer, Lebron. I cna argue that if Lebron had not tried it, he might not have made that. He probably told himself, "If Lebron can do it, i can do it too"
Seriously, it's on this thread that I began to see people who don't think KD's move was a weak one.

Was it his job recruit free agents? Didn't he make the playoffs on the Cavs on several occasions like KD did in OKC? He left the Cavs because he couldn't win and then went to the Heat whose front office job was to bring Bosh and Allen with prime D Wade so he can win and he did. KD went because he couldn't win after 9yrs so that excuse about Bron leaving because he couldn't recruit is weak. What happens when he had 2 all stars on the Cavs and couldn't win? He bolts again to the Lakers where they are chasing Anthony Davis and other stars. If he can't win, he leaves but KD does it once and he's the bad guy. LeBron and KD were free agents. They didn't do any wrong however don't give LeBron a pass and criticize KD for wanting to win just like Bron.
Clap for yourself. You're trying so hard to defend KD's move and I can't blame you, you're doing what every GS fan would do.

This is why some of us are so happy when we see LeNomad and his teams fail.

Kevin Love averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in that series. Kevin Love outscored the best player on the Raptors FFS

4 other Cavs scored in double digits. 4!!

I swear there are no perks to playing with LeNomad. If you win no credit, if you lose all the blame. No self respecting star ought to play with him walahi

I just reminded you of their age. Don't be defensive. Paul Pierce made all-star team

My point exactly. If what LeNomad did was perfect nobody would bash him at all.

I am not here to justify what KD did same way I didn't antagonize LeNomad when he bolted to Miami. I don't care. Domination is the name of the game not parity

Blame it on geography and the terrain at the time. Big player movements were not as frequent then as it is now.

That's my point. Why should LeNomad be the only one entitled to leave their undesirable situations. Don't tell me LeNomad's reason to leave was righteous. I'm not trying to hear that

You have been warned

A Laker team of LeNomad, Kyrie and AD would not get past this present Warriors team.

The Knicks are a mess. would rather go the Clippers or the Nets than that overrated franchise the Knicks
How do you blame someone who has no flaws? Someone who's excellent in the game of basketball.
