Khanben: It seems you don't even remember the role players for most of these teams Warriors had Prime Iggy and DPY Draymond, Livingston, Javale and looney as a solid 8 player rotation with Zaza, West and being seasoned fillers The Spurs reign was so long, but they always had quality guys, Kwahi, Mills, Splitter, Boris Diaw, Danny Green all in their prime not old men on their last legs and for the older chips Steven Jackson, Bowen, Scola, Finley, Barry, Bris Diaw, Bonner, Horry. 2010 Celtics had Rondo, Rasheed Wallace, Perk, big Baby. Let's not even get to the Miami big 3 at all.
PS: like I said before if you're judging them based on their big 3, then that's more than fair, but saying Gasol, Ariza, Bazemore, Wellington and Howard are quality enough to fill spots 4 through 8 is disingenuous. Unless you are judging them on their names rather than what they are right now. There guys are in their career are where Matt Barnes was for the warriors old guys who should be the 8th, 9th man type. Finally I did not ignore the strength of their big 3, which is just as strong as what the warriors had with the warriors team being younger. The main issue with the Lakers is the level of drop-off after their big 3 is just too steep and that is what you are refusing to admit Small knife fight you don go carry bazooka come |

birdman: The wind blowing says derozan ends up in LA. Or is it just LA media hyping things?
If kawhi leaves, that would be evil. Clippers have moved mountains to please this guy. I cant see him on the Heat because they dont take kindly to load management excuses - Pat Riley no dey take nonsense. Either you can play, or get on the injured list. Kawhi didn't really do that load management thing last year. He played when available to play I don't think Lakers can pay Derozan. Except he wants to take the minimum to try and win a championship. But why would he do that when he's still near his peak? And he doesn't fit in that team, except coming off the bench. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 11:41pm On Aug 01, 2021 |
So apparently both Kawhi Leonard and Chris Paul have declined their player option and are becoming free agents. It's possible CP3 signs a 3 year deal with the Suns, but for Kawhi, try predicting what he does. But is it possible he goes to the Heat, and Dragic to the Clippers? Cos I'm hearing rumours of both Lowry and Derozan considering the Heat. They probably would want to join forces. Imagine Kawhi, Butler, Derozan and Lowry on one team. That's championship or bust |

Thank God say I no too raise my hopes for this Naija team . We never reach there first. Na small small. Make the core of this team remain together win FIBA Africa, them compete favourably in FIBA WC, then we can reevaluate them. This team is still very young. A good number of them are either rookies or sophomores, a few of them in their third year. Most of them are also not regular rotation pieces for their teams. So, while there was talent, it wasn't quite enough compared to these other teams. It would even have been much better for us if we brought along more guys who play in Europe who are regulars for their team, Guys like Michael Eric, Iroegbu, Stan Okoye etc. It is what it is though. We move. |

birdman: Thats the point my guy. What use is a PG that shoots more than he distributes, if he is shoots 43%, 35% from the 3. If you are the pg distribute. If that is not your strong suit, shoot lights out. Its the worst of both worlds if you cant do either. Just playing hard will not beat Bucks or Nets.
I want to see who else they bring on to fill the roster. Everyone is rightly concerned about getting shooters. But they also need to beef uo the defense, especially rim protection.
Is derozan still a possibility? That would be a killer starting 4 And who on earth says Westbrook can't distribute or won't distribute? Someone that averaged almost 12 assists last year playing with G leaguers. Someone that has led the league in assists 3 times and averaged double figures in assists 5 of the last 6 seasons. Guy, your fears are not built on evidence. Westbrook has never played with 2 superstars before, let alone two elite scorers. Why would Westbrook want to jack up shots unnecessarily? Westbrook that made Paul George an MVP candidate. Westbrook that made Beal almost win scoring title. I tire for you o |

birdman: Leave am. Can Westbrook help a team without being ball dominant? I didnt watch him much on the Wizards, but this is his perennial weakness. Of course he would be ball dominant. He's a PG for goodness sake. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 8:21pm On Jul 30, 2021 |
birdman: I worded it wrong. KCP is a better fit for this team than Russ. Way better fit. You need complementary pieces, not a ball dominant guard with a low FG%. KCP is a spot up sharp shooter. Exactly what you need with AD and Lebron on the floor.
If I was going after guards, I would look for a Conley or a Lowry. even a Lonzo Ball. And who says we won't play a 2 guard? Westbrook is basically replacing Schroder in this team. Unless you're trying to tell me that Westbrook is a downgrade on Schroder |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 5:09pm On Jul 30, 2021 |
birdman: Superstars with no bench equals no ring. I would take KCP over Westbrook any day. And AD will have his regular injury bug, which will leave the team depleted for stretches. Add to that, Lebron will not be carrying team load in his 18th year, unless he wants to be injured for good.
The team as constructed could have won a ring this year, they just needed to stay healthy. Well sha, lets see if Lebron can work his magic and make Westbrook fit This guy dey alright so?

The three ball is actually overrated in this league. For two straight years we've seen that you can actually dominate teams and win the chip by being dominant in the paint.

Unless they fill the bench out during the season, this will not work Lol. That's how you people worried about Giannis' shooting until he lifted the trophy, right in your faces. The Lakers got Westbrook. Great. I expect the Lakers to be top 3 in offensive rating next season. Now let's see how we fill out the roster. We need a centre that can spread the floor, plus a nice 2 guard (bye KCP ) Also, it looks like THT would have a more prominent role next year. Needs to work on his jumper, that's one drawback in his game. I'm already excited for next season. |

Valancuinas to New Orleans. Great move. A major upgrade on Adams. Valancuinas could easily have made all-star this year but for the plethora of good bigs in the league. Can spread the floor too, which is invaluable when playing with a guy like Zion. With a "big 3" of Zion, Ingram and Valancuinas, Pels should be able to make the play-in at least. |

I wish the NBA can adopt some of the FIBA rules. The NBA rules are designed to make scoring easy, which has helped in elevating their league commercially. While FIBA rules are designed to make defending easy. If the NBA can just find a middle ground I think it would be good. |

Durant needs to grow up. For real. Small issue on court e go dey tweet For real. First of all, I watched the video and it was hella childish. OK Bam supposedly rebounded your make and instead of throwing it to you he dribbles to the perimeter to try and shoot. Now you don get another ball, you come tell Bam make e give you that ball take the one wey you hold, talmbout "I made that one". PDPGuy: Women’s Olympics Tournament Fun facts:
- D’Tigress have more players who stand 6ft or taller (Nine), than the US Women’s Team (Seven). In fact, D’Tigress and Canada are the joint tallest teams at the Olympics as Canada also have 9 players who stand at 6ft or taller.
- Pallas Kunaiyi Akpannah, Aisha Mohammed, and Elizabeth Balogun are the only D’Tigress players born in Nigeria
- The three tallest D’Tigress players - Aisha Mohammed, Oderah Chidom, and Victoria Macaulay- all stand at 6’4”
- Standing at 6’9”, Brittney Griner (USA) and Han Xu (China PR) are the tallest players in the tournament
- D’Tigress are the only African team to have won a game at the Women’s Olympic event. Can we really say D'Tigress are the tallest team when their tallest players are just 6'4"? |
