He spent about two years with his uncle, during that period the reforming😉😉 he received. When he returned to the UK he was a completely changed being. Back when I was in secondary school (all boarders) we always had student who were Nigerians born in US and UK coming for their secondary school education I never saw the importance until years later. |

Hotels will squeeze the most out of rooms, just to accommodate as many guests wey possible.
The underground is just filled with grumpy-looking faces, and it doesn't feel like the UK I knew watching Mr Bean or James Bond.
Just go to a busy street and shout "Mohammed", maybe two people will turn and ask if you're calling their name
Now do the same with a typical British name like Connor, people will wonder if you're mad because no one bears Connor here
People are legitly broke. Not even those doing menial jobs, but white-collar folks. I can't believe that was the country that colonised almost half the world just a century ago.
Okay, I exaggerated, but you get the gist. The UK is very different than how the media project it. London is just one part of the uk tho plus some other cites accommodation in the UK are quite spacious with great condition for living. |

Tbh, I support this. People should at least be ready to complete their studies if they came in on a student Visa. I heard some were even abandoning their studies and switching from the first few days or weeks after arriving, thereby subjecting many universities to profit loss. Any reasonable person should support this 100% |

The essence of the black market abacha introduced was to give the central bank the leverage to make money off forex by selling dollar at high rate more of the reason why it's so difficult to get dollar or pounds from the bank. I only asked a question, to see if I'm missing anything. Cause I don't understand how having a 5 years US B1-B2 visa or a 1year Schengen multiple entry visa is a backup to UK residency visa incase the UK Bleep up. Even with a 5year US visa the maximum you can stay with each visit is 6months and for Schengen territory it's 3months, and you are not permitted to work or take up paid employment during the visit. To be realistic there is so much that should be left unsaid plus Immigration didn't start today and all. People who are hunting for a US visit visa know what they want and I think it's better we mind our businesses and let them make whatever decisions they want. All I'll say will be for everyone should keep hopes high be realistic and not too selfish. |

Having other visas (which in most cases are visit visa) will not save anyone from the UK immigration wahala if the time comes. You can't use those visas to immigrate or even work on those visas. I have a long-term US visa and Schegen visa (Swiss issued) yet they are absolutely useless for immigration
Except you plan to travel and then turn illegal immigrant. Not your decision to make for others choice. |

Dujardin: Based on the falacy OP of this thread shared https://www.nairaland.com/7738556/nigerians-uk-really-suffering
I'm forced to open this one.
I don't know the motive behind this guy's story, perhaps to discourage others from travelling or just for attention. But one thing is certain, they are not ready to come back home so there must be something they aren't telling you.
I don't care about my English or writing skill so if you can't read it please stop here.
I am also in the UK, I used to be a software developer in Nigeria, worked remotely for my company till I left last month, now I work as a stock controller in a factory till I can at least finish my MSc. in September and get back on my career, and what I observed will be listed here.
1. You work for every minute you're paid for - that's their system, it thrives on meritocracy bore out of talent and hard work. You want better life? up-skill, no other way. Nigerians who are used to the padi-padi work place style are the ones that complain the most.
2. You are limited to menial jobs as a student - Many Nigerians will say they are suffering because they used to have a white collar job before now they are care giver. If you had done your homework well before leaving Nigeria, you would have known what awaits you in the UK as a student, and settle without stress with it, or stay back. The day I started the factory job was the first day I ever stepped my foot into any kind of factory. The biggest factory I've been to in Nigeria was a bakery.
3. You are suffering but can afford a shelter of #400,000 per month, and you are eating what you want - Where I stay in UK is like a Taraba State to Nigeria, cost of living is way low compared to other cities, and cheapest rent in my area for a student is £300 per month. These people earn based on the city they live and pay more rent than this every month, can afford to eat good food, send their children to school free of charge, and they see it as suffering?
Do they do menial job? Yes, Are they getting enough money to go by? Yes. Why complain? Get the skill to switch career if you're tired.
My conclusion is, everyone in life is supposed to work and then enjoy their fruit, no one is supposed to live life consuming more than they earn or live off others, but when you're used to that life in Nigeria where you can get free money or borrow and not pay back, you see this Western culture as suffering.
In all don't let anyone discourage you from leaving Nigeria and explore life if you can.
EDIT The only set of people that are suffering are those staying illegally because their documents expired, but they can only blame themselves for still choosing to stay back, not condemn the whole travel thing. Na why corruption dy Nigeria people just want free money |

gforce5: OP, Nigerians have what is called a 'crabs in a bucket' syndrome. They don't want their fellow countrymen to succeed. They want to be the gate keepers to success. As Gerrard rightly said, majority of the Nigerian elite either have second passports or properties abroad. Most of their children don't go to school in Nigeria. The ones abroad who are discouraging Nigerians from coming over there are noise makers. They want to be seen as the only Nigerians abroad. 95% of them already have already acquired the citizenship of their host countries. Ask them to renounce their foreign citizenship and return home, they can't do it. A lot of them have nothing to show for all the years they were living abroad so their best bet is to de-market the country they are based in.
Staying in Nigeria is not an issue. The real problem is staying in the country without a plan B which is why it is imperative that Nigerians try to secure dual nationality by any means necessary. I lived in Europe for many years before relocating to Nigeria in 2014 with a second passport to boot butI would never discourage anyone from JAPAIing in order to create the same opportunities for themselves. Most of the elites don't believe in Nigeria and only see it as a cash out venture. It's the masses who are the most patriotic. 100% agree |

Loko40: @duchess90 and co guru
Please help diagnose this.
I got offer from Salford around March, I did my TB test around April 5th with the intention of processing my CAS but unfortunately my TB certificate was delayed for almost ten weeks because I was told to undergo sputum test. While waiting for sputum result, Salford withdrew my admission because I didn't pay the required deposit to secured my place. I subsequently applied into Ulster University which I was given offer.
Now, I am preparing to get my CAS from Ulster because I have gotten my TB certificate after my sputum test result indicate Negative.
My complain now is that my TB certificate has Salford University address which Ulster has already clarity that it's not a problem, but my wife is about doing her TB test.
Should she use the same Salford address as mine or use Ulster?
If she uses Ulster University address as my dependant which is different from mine, hope UKVI won't see this as a fault?
Thanks Don't stress it as the address doesn't matte. The result matter the most. |
