Nobody can do any work to earn salvation.

That thief said:

“Jesus, remember me when you get into your Kingdom.” Luke 23:42

The one and only prophet foretold to die alongside criminals {Isaiah 53:12} is the Christ whose rulership will last forever {Isaiah 9:6-7} so that thief is reminding his cohort to think of what the prophets said about Christ since they both recognize Jesus as a powerful prophet of God who has saved many in the past but is now dying like a common criminal.

Each believer must preach this same thing about Jesus of Nazareth, that's the WORK of faith Jesus assigned to anyone who wants to be his disciple. Remember the other rich Jew who also believe in Jesus but his problem was to humbly become a disciple whose life doesn't depend on material possessions {Luke 18:18-23} do you think that man didn't believe in Jesus yet called him "Lord" ?
Of course he believed!
The only thing he couldn't do is throwing away everything he had and become a preacher for Jesus Christ. Well that's exactly what that thief has become on the day he was executed.
So immediately he declared Jesus as "King" who has a Kingdom Jesus had no option than to count him in as one of his disciples! Luke 23:22-23 smiley
you are funny,
Was the thieves salvation a gift or not a gift?
Besisde that you have not answered my question, where did you read that he said all that to earn salvation?

Do you know this fact? You who have put your faith in Jesus christ already have eternal life?

1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

The difference between Christianity and all other false religion, whether Roman catholicism, Jehovah witness, Islam, Buddhism, etc is that they have no assurance of salvation.
But a Christian have full assurance because his salvation is based on his faith in Jesus.
The moment he realises whom Jesus is and put his faith in christ he immediately possess eternal life.

What type of righteousness?
Righteousness through faith or through works?

Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

The righteousness through works is not true righteousness.

Guess what the righteousness of God comes by the faith of Jesus christ.
Anyone who believes on Jesus gets this righteousness irrespective of whether you have good works or not, because from God's stand point all have sinned.

Jesus parable of the publican and the pharisee.
The pahrisee had good works to boast of, The publican had nothing to boast of.

Luke 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

God doesn't give grace to the proud, you may be a good man and done every good but you should realize that your righteousness cannot save you.

When the jailor asked Paul and silas what he should do to be saved what was Paul's reply?

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

They simply said he should believe on Jesus, this is the simple gospel.

Other times the apostles preached repentance, because repentance means to have a change of heart towards God.

Always understand that the Grace emanating from Jesus' sacrifice on the cross of Calvary is the fundamental and most important part of salvation. In short, without it, there will be no salvation. However, that doesn't mean we must just sit aloof without doing anything towards embracing that precious gift of God's grace. In this regard, we must all work out our own salvation with fear and trembling -> Philippians 2:12

Salvation in Christ is a doctrine of Christian Faith, but still: Faith without work is dead. 'For as the body is dead without the spirit, so also is faith dead without works -> James 2:26'

Therefore, the penitent thief (whose name is Dismas) did not just tap into the Grace of Jesus' death. He also worked towards it by preaching before the large crowd of people (including the pharisees) the very essence of Jesus' death through his brief but powerful words on his cross. Through his words, he accepted his sinful state and the deserved punishment he suffered. He further denounced evil and sin, while also embracing Jesus as his King by telling Him to remember him in His Kingdom.
I am sorry to say, if you working for your salvation that means you are not yet saved. To be working for something it means you don't have it yet.

Where did you read, that the theif said that to earn salvation?

Please go back and read what transpired between the two thieves and Jesus because one raised the subject that he knew Jesus very well saving others which means he didn't just believe but knows Jesus has the power.
The only problem with that first thief is that he didn't think about what the prophecies said about the Christ. According to the prophecies the Christ will suffer and be executed along with criminals! Isaiah 53:12
That's what the second thief WORKED on and declared Jesus as King reminding his friend that Jesus committed no wrong meaning if this man has done no wrong and is been executed with them that shows he is the true Christ.
So both of them believe in Jesus' power but only one spoke with conviction that even if Jesus dies with them he is surely the Christ who is King of all those having faith in God!
See how you are contradicting yourself, if the first theif did not think about the prophecies of Jesus how did you know say he believed in Jesus.
Faith comes through hearing the word of God, obviously, the second theif knew that Jesus is the Son of God and can save him but the other doubted.

the first theif had no repentance while the second theif had repentance.
Reread ip again, I said faith and repentance are together. You can't have faith without repentance.

Luke 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

Guy both thieves BELIEVED in Jesus' ability to save them so how come only one was given a Visa to Paradise?

So it's the WORKS of FAITH and nothing more.
What you people think is that once you believe that Jesus can save you it's enough but demons also believe that only Jesus can save {James 2:19 compare to Luke 4:41} yet they're not saved. WHY?
Because they're not ready to follow the orders Jesus gave his disciples for salvation! John 15:4
That thief WORKED for his salvation by telling Jesus to remember him when the dying Jesus is enthroned. Ọmọ that's the greatest work of faith that Jesus himself has never seen before that time!
Because both Jesus and the thief are facing agonizing torture and about to die yet he is begging Jesus for his salvation. Surely if that man has the opportunity to go out there and preach nothing can stop him from proving that Jesus is the Christ.

That's what WORKS of FAITH entails not just believing without doing nothing! James 2:26 smiley
Max stop adding to the word of God, The other theif didn't believe in Jesus, he mocked Jesus to save himself if Jesus is the Son of God.

Demons don't believe in Jesus, they know Jesus is the Son of God, they believe there is God, they have no part in God's salvation plan.

The other theif believe in Jesus as the messiah who has the power to forgive his sins and take him in into paradise. This is the gospel, Jesus has the power to forgive all sins freely.

The scrupture is clear, Isaiah said below

Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

What is the money and price for the waters? Good works,
Inother, words Isaiah is saying people who have no good works or anything could come and buy which is faith.

Works of faith are not works to earn Salvation but are works after Salvation.

Romans 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

No he asked for it.

But wait a minute.confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the first step.walking in him is another.

Jesus christ said in his word in The bible in John 14:6 " I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me."

Jesus Christ is the way to the father not the end to the father, so accepting Him and confessing Him is not enough, you have to walk in Him.
Confessing is not the first step but believing the step to be saved.
The scriptures said with the heart man believes. Confessing is the evidence of believing.
A man who believes confesses, but however the reverse is not necessarily true. There are people who confesses but do not believe.

Accepting Jesus is enough to be saved.
"Walking" comes after salvation, which is necessary in other to learn and enjoy the new life in Christ.

YES, He worked for his salvation!

As a condemned criminal dying on the stake alongside Jesus he didn't know what to do but his cohort started mocking Jesus saying this guy had powers yet he couldn't save himself with them.
This thief stepped in right away, he spoke in Jesus' behalf and began preaching about Jesus Christ! Luke 23:40-41

That's just what Jesus taught his disciples to do in favorable or unfavorable season.

So my friend don't let anyone deceive you that thief WORKED for his salvation as the last thing he could do that's why Jesus granted the man's wish immediately he begged Jesus to count him in as a disciple who is now prepared to preach and teach about God's Kingdom which will be made possible through the selfless sacrifice Jesus offered on the torture stake! Luke 23:41-43

However, the word of God contradicts you.

Christianity Etc › Was The Theif On The Cross Saved Because He Worked For It? by Steep(op): 9:26pm On Apr 07, 2023
First, the Bible is clear that salvation is by grace through faith and not of the individual.
God does it so that no man can boast.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Some attributes repentance to be works that are necessary to be saved, however, repentance is necessary but it is not work,. Repentance simply means a change of heart.

If you wanted to do something, and later decide not to do it, you have just repented.

For a man to have accepted the salvation of Jesus Christ he had already repented.

The gospel is clear and simple, we all have all sinned and can do nothing at to save our self from damnation but God has given us Jesus who died for us, so our sins can be written off and we should have eternal life.

If we acknowledge that truly we have sinned and are condemned through it and that only the Lord Jesus can save us, we have just repented.
Then if we believe in Jesus as our saviour this is faith in Jesus.

You see that repentance and faith goes together and that repentance is not not work at all just the acknowledgment of one's sinfulness and turning to the saviour.

The theif on the cross acknowledge the truth about his sinfulness, he realised that his only hope was Jesus, psalm 51.

eternal life is a gift but people must know why they need this gift, they must realise the truth about themselves in the eyes of God, so that they can genuinely accept the saviour.

False teachers either try to prevent people to know their sinful state before God or they try to make people believe there is something they can do for themselves rather than faith only in Christ.
The result of this is that people do not put their trust in christ and remain condemned.

Good works comes as a result of salvation not the other way round.
Because salvation is so easy, everyone could be saved, it is not by confession of sins, not by penance, not by restitution, nor by alms giving or any other works, it simply faith in Jesus, the dumb can be saved, the deaf could be saved, the old could be saved, the children could be saved, the educated, uneducated, rich, poor everyone could be saved thanks to the simplicity of the gospel.

.Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Please let's read with an open and unbiased mind

1. He is not the God
According to the Koran Jesus is word from allah, Is allah's word not part of allah?

2. He is not a part of the Trinity. (Islam utterly and unequivocally rejects the doctrine of the Trinity.)
Koran don't even know what Trinity means, so how can it reject what it does not know?

3. He is a prophet
Jesus is more than a prophet, for example he is also the messiah.

4. He is one of the most important prophets
Jesus is more than a prophet.

5. He came to warn about the overly legalistic understanding of the religion by the Jews
In what way?

6. He is the Word of the God (the relevant verses: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him" and "We breathed into her (body) Our Spirit
Is Allah's word not eternal like himself or was it ceeated? So Allah has spirit right? Is Allah's spirit part of Allah or was it created?

7. He is born of Virgin Mary, who is considered the most holy woman among the mankind.
Jesus was born by virgin without intercourse, how come the Koran Saif allah said Jesus was created by his word "be"?

8. He was a carpenter or handyman
This shows Jesus was humble, however Mohammad was a robber and terrorist.

8b. He performed miracles (speaking as an infant, making a clay bird come alive, healing the blind and the lepers, etc.)
If Jesus can give life to brid that makes him God because only God can give life to things.

9. He was betrayed by one of his disciples

10. He was sentenced to death for his alleged crimes

11. He was not crucified in actuality. It was made to appear that he was crucified.
So allah made jews and christians believe Jesus died howbeit Jesus did not die meaning allah, is a deceiver.
According to the Jewish scripture the messiah will become a sacrifice for sin. The Koran is a stupid book.

11b. He did not die (in the usual sense). Thus, he did not atone for our sins.
The jews Torah require shedding of blood for the remission of sins, meaning that you can't get forgiven of sins without shedding of blood.
This shows allah is not the God of Moses who was given the Torah.

[
11c. There are also alternative exegeses of the related verses in the Quran about Jesus’ death, for they are open to different interpretations.
How can be certain of what you are not even sure of?

12. He was raised up to a heavenly realm
So Jesus is in heaven, where is Mohammad?

12b. He was not resurrected, because he did not die. However, he was raised up
In the bible to raise up means resurrection, it means Jesus was raised meaning he died and came back.

13. He is still alive in some sense in that heavenly realm
of course Jesus is still alive, he is infinitely greater than Mohammad and allah.

14. He was/is the (promised) messiah
messiah is an Hebrew word what is an Hebrew word doing in supposed book that was only written in Arabic.
According to the Jewish scripture, the messiah is going to be the king of Israel, how come Muslims say Jews is just a prophet when he is more.
And also according to the Jewish scripture the messiah is also going to be the light of the Gentiles whom the gentiles would trust.

14b. He did not consider himself divine in the commonly understood sense, nor did his disciples.
Jesus clearly said he is "I AM" which is Hebrew description of God in exodus.
His disciples called him God.

14c. Early Christian theology (when Christianity movement is headed by James) and Islamic theology are more in common. Islam rejects the Pauline affirmations.
The letters of Paul is the oldest Christian scripture for your info much older than the Gospels. Early Christian theology teaches Trinity, or else how did the Koran know of the Trinity?

15. He will return back from the heavenly realm to ours at the end times

16. There will a fierce competition between the believers and the non-believers. In this struggle, non-believers, headed by the anti-Christ (Masih ad-Dajjal), will make significant headway initially. However, Mahdi, supported and strengthened by Jesus, will defeat the non-believers in this struggle.

17. Having been on the same side in the above struggle, Muslims and Christians will unite and have friendly relations. Good times will follow briefly on Earth before the end
This is not the Jesus of Christians,m but rather the false christ you Muslims are expecting.

18. Jesus will correct the errors in current Christian understandings of him or his nature. Christianity will become similar to Islam. Both will unite in the sentence "There is no God but The God"

19. Jesus will die naturally (in his second coming), just like any other prophet of the God.

Thank you
The Koran is a stupid book, so allah, means "The God" not God. The God of what? Stupidity?
why does your God uses "us" to refer to himself" Don't mention royal we because royal we means the king and his nobles, does Allah have nobles?
The Koran is a failed attempt to copy the bible. What a joke of false deity, allah, Mohamad and Koran.

3. Don't obey him.
4. Are living in sin.

Islam is a pure religion, but religious spirits, false prophets and fanatics have misinterpreted and distorted the teachings of the Koran so much, that the religion is almost always seem in a bad light. We have same in Christianity: teachers and prophets who twist and distort the teachings of the Bible.
Islam shares so much similarities with Christianity in the writing of their Holy books. If the Koran can contain the name of Jesus Christ, then it's not false, like one misguided American author, Jonathan Timmons claimed.Because even our Bible points out that any religion that acknowledges Christ Jesus as the son of God isn't false.
And in John 10:16 Jesus Christ said that there were others of His sheep that are not of this fold, that must be brought together with others as one .
Who are those sheep not belonging to the immediate fold?
They include true Muslims.
you are an ignorant man, Islam is an antichrist religion, it denies Jesus as the Son of God. In Islam allah does not have any Son, it is haram to say so.
Islam reject the sacrifice of Jesus.
Islam teaches a work base salvation
Islam command Muslim to kill Christians and jews.
The list goes on and on.
Islam is from the devil to fight against Christianity directly and Mohammed is Satan's (allah) messenger.

Salvation only comes through the gospel of Christianity.
Only through the faith of Jesus christ can any man be saved, not Mohammed or allah, or any other religion.
The reason why Christianity is being fought hard is because only Christianity has the truth.

Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

This is no doubt the third person of the Trinity,

The holy Spirit is the power of God, he enables and cause things to be.

1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

I believe one person of God spoke while another person of God acted on it.

1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

I believe this remark is given by yet another person of God, he gives remark on what was created.

The father is the authority of God, he ordains, establish and plans.
The word is the reveals what is in the mind of God.
The Holy Spirit act or enable what has being revealed.

We see this same pattern throughout creation,
This pattern is
1. God speaks

2 God responds to what was spoken by carrying it out.

3 God gives a remark, name it and gives his blessing on what has being created.

This is a clear evidence of the Trinity right there in the first book of the bible.

Shalom.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Trinity In Genesis Chapter 1 by Steep(op): 12:04am On Mar 26, 2023
Here is Gensis chapter 1.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
This is a summarized statement, no detail is given, God here is the triune God elohim.

The heaven or heavens includes the spiritual realms and angelic host also called hosts of heaven.
Christianity Etc › The Trinity In Genesis Chapter 1 by Steep(op):
Here is what I think of in Genesis chapter 1.
First I believe all three persons of the Trinity were present during creation and there are evidence for this.

So, I am going to bold a sentence and comment on which person of the Trinity is being referred to.

First the 'trinity' means the unity of three persons in one God. There is one God yes but this one God exist in three persons (center of consciousness).

A person is a self aware being, not every being is a person for example a tree is not a person but it is a being, a human being is a person because he has self awareness.

So when we say God is a Trinity of persons it means, God has three center of self consciousness that coexist in perfect unity.

In other words God is a 3 fold individualized being, or we can simply say God's being a 3 fold person is the way God's being interact within, himself and the way he is and since God is eternal and unchangeable, the three persons of God's being has always being and will always be, and they retain their individualism and yet in perfect unity without switching from one person to another, for example Jesus is not the Father neither is he the holy spirit and vice versa neither has/will Jesus change to the Father or the holy Spirit. The father has always be who he is and will always be so also is the holy Spirit and the Word. The word has always being the word and was with the father and the Spirit from eternity and will be so throughout all eternity.

Ok Notice, it is this one God not two or three just one, and thus is different from omnipresence, which simply means God unrestricted presence everywhere.

And those other religions are not complaining of bring criticized even if they do as other false religions are afraid of the light, if you don't want to be criticize don't criticize others.

And for a religion that claims to be the only true true religion, yet afraid of her teachings being questioned.
Only those whose works are bad are afraid of the light because they would be exposed

Dude there are over 41,000 different sects all claiming denominations in Christendom with contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines, they often condemn one another so for you to single out just one out of the 41,000 saying they speak against Christendom shows you don't know what you're saying.
Two Churches in Christendom don't agree as regards doctrines so if you call out just one what about Deeperlife, RCCG, MFM, Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian, Celestial, C & S, Christ Embassy, Lord Chosen, KICC, Salvation Ministry, Dominion City, Harvesters and many more like that. All these different religions answer "Christendom" and none agree with another that's why each is standing on its own. So calling out a religion saying they contradicts Christendom when there is no agreement in the Christendom regarding doctrines sounds really stupid to me! undecided
Why are you criticizing their teachings if you don't want yours criticized simple

Don't bother yourself over what another religion teaches intensify in your own since you believe what your own religion teaches then go out there and make disciples baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit teaching them to observe all the things Jesus commanded {Matthew 28:19-20} JWs are doing just that and members across the globe have become zealous preachers and industrious teachers of God's word. Act 1:8
So instead of giving yourself a headache over what JWs teaches their members to remove the making buying selling and using of weapons in their hearts {Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3} why not work hard to achieve something worthwhile so observers can see the WORKS of your Faith! James 2:18-26 smiley
Why does watch tower bother about what Christiendom teaches?

Hebrews 10:10, Jehovah's witnesses stick to the scriptures, not the FALSE claim you have made here.
Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

It didn't say Jesus body was destroyed

Jesus resurrected body a spirit body or a spiritual body?

First understand what the word spiritual means.
It is used quite a number of times in the bible.

It is used to describe the law.
Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

The law is "spiritual" as against "carnal" meaning the law does not follow man's natural desire, carnal means what human beings naturally wants.

Paul said the Jews ate spiritual food and drink from a spiritual rock.
Did he mean me they ate spirit food and drank from spirit rock, no!

1 Corinthians 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

We know that the jews ate physical food and the rock was physical.
But the food was not produced by man or natural process neither did the rock produce water by natural process. But by the power of God, and christ was the actual rock that gave them that water.
in 1 Corinthians 15, the distinction was between natural and spiritual.

1 Corinthians 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The natural body is is one that is subject to nature but the spiritual body is not.

The spiritual body does not age nor decay.

Jesus body was not destroyed but was raised to be to be spiritual.
