This was the submission of the indigenous Moslem community in old Jos Division to the Prince Bola Ajibola Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating the causes of the crisis, which claimed hundreds of lives and property.

The community, which has its members drawn from six local council areas of the present Plateau North Senatorial District, further alleged that their members have never been recognised as Moslems by the Hausas in the state.

Speaking under cross-examination before the six-member commission, the spokesperson of the indigenous Moslem community, Alhaji Umaru Miango, noted that the November 28 mayhem was "carefully planned and executed by people who do not want peace in Plateau State."

While responding to a question from Charles Obishai, the commission's counsel, he said for long, there have been agitations by the Hausas particularly, who want to be recognised as indigenes of Jos North at all costs.

He regretted that recommendations by past probe panels of 1994, 1997 and 2001, all of which he claimed had indicted certain highly-placed persons, have been ignored by the powers-that-be.

According to him, the indigenous Moslems have continued to bear the brunt whenever a crisis erupted because they have always been treated as betrayers by their Moslem Hausas and no longer trusted by their Christian native brothers and sisters, all of whom allegedly attack them in an event of violent crisis.

He said as indigenous Moslems, they have no other home than Plateau State and when their places of abode are destroyed, they have no where to run to unlike the Hausas who usually relocate to their various states during such incidents.

He then suggested that to remedy the situation, there was need for the creation of additional three council areas out of the present Jos North, because the natives were against the 1991 creation which was purely against the aspirations of the natives.

As such, he insisted that those anomalies should be corrected in the interest of peace.

Also speaking, the spokesperson of the Berom Community in Jos North, Associate Professor, Thomas Baba Bingel, said when the Jos council area was split in 2001, the native Afizere, Anaguta and Beroms cried out because it was aimed at dividing them to the advantage of the Hausas.

The history lecturer of the University of Jos added that the use of religion and politics as major causes of conflicts was a camouflage used by the Hausas to divert attention and cover up their agenda to acquire the area at all costs.

Jos North, he maintained, belongs to Afizere, Anaguta and the Beroms, all of whom he stressed have various names to identify the area, even as he regretted that the colonial laws deprived the tribes the ownership of the area during the mining periods.

He said it would be unfair for anyone to say the Plateau people are not hospitable people because both Nakande and Hon. Mohammed are beneficiaries of the hospitality of the people who have considered them for election as members of House of Representatives and minister.

To alarmed members of the Blackburn Labour Party who received the email, it seemed strangely out of character for their globetrotting MP to be in sudden and urgent need of a cash bailout.

And so it was.

For Straw, who during his tenure as Home Secretary pioneered a special unit to crack down on internet fraud, had become the latest victim of an online scam.

Straw's constituency Hotmail account was soiled into by what are thought to be Nigerian criminals who bombarded hundreds of his friends, colleagues and constituents with begging messages claiming he was stranded in Nigeria after losing his wallet.

The email, marked The Rt Hon Jack Straw MP, was sent to 200 contacts asking them to help the beleaguered minister. It claimed he had become separated from his wallet while attending a summit called Empowering Youth to Fight Racism.

"I misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where my money and other valuable things were kept," pleaded the message. "I would like you to assist me with a soft loan urgently to settle my hotel bills and get myself back home."

One constituent replied, but is believed not to have offered the money.

Straw, who insists he was actually hard at work in Whitehall and oblivious to the demands made in his name, confirmed the emails had been sent to a "significant number of people" in his address book. He denied any security risk.

"I started getting phone calls from various constituents asking if I was really in Nigeria needing US$3000," Straw explained yesterday. "The internet is wonderful in many ways, but these gangs put a lot of effort in because they make money from it. In a lot of cases they do get people to cough up."

This is getting interestiner. Thanks Debosky and Ibime. You two are very knowledgeable. As for studying overseas, it is difficult to point at any tribe as dominating. However, the Yoruba and Igbo are far ahead of others in oversea university attendance. I did my second and third degrees in two different European countries, and it is  usually a preponderant of Igbo and Yoruba, and a sprinkling of Edo, Delta and Akwa Ibom sudents that you find around. I am not conversant with the scenario in US and Canada, but I doubt it will be any different.

Because their population are higher compared to others you mentioned. If you take samples and compare them accordingly, you may be surprised they are not lower than you. Again, hausas prefer universities in the middle east to western universities so, don't count them out.

It's very painful!  I am a participant on an Hausa forum site and trust me, I battle with them on a daily basis. . . but you can never break through the membrane of their unity, muslim or christian they band together strongly.  

That's why the Yoruba ethnic group is more successful than the Hausas because they don't tell each other the truth about themselves and their current state because banding together is more paramount to them. Even in America, they love their nation so much but have different political ideologies, argue, disagree and look for the best option even if didn't go down well with some of them.God gave us brain so we can use it and not waste it acting like malu.
