Happiness87: did fashola deport anyone under his tenure, hahaha Yes Fashola reunited destitutes with their states of origin whether Yoruba or Igbo. Lagos tax payers money is not for the upkeep of destitutes. Let their states which they recently departed take care of their needs. They were picked from the streets without any home address nor legitimate economic occupation. Tax paying residents of Lagos were saved the trouble of the nuisance such destitutes could constitute in the future. They are all now enjoying a simple life in their respective states, no longer a threat to Lagosians and they are certainly living a life better than that on the violent streets of Lagos. |

Happiness87: i see all Yorubas own lagos, no wonder tinubu is calling the shots while The original inhabitants are damfo drivers But you still haven't admitted your characteristic folly by claiming that Lagos was originally inhabited by the Benins, when your own post as the OP stated clearly that the Benin king sent an expedition to the Yoruba dwellers there? |

Happiness87: with the level of tribalism in this country So what exactly is your problem with the Lagos model. Do you prefer a state where non indigenes are slaughtered just for the fun of it? Or why do you find it abnormal that a state within a unified country can practise some measure of coexistence? Is your own state hostile to other Nigerians who are not indigenous? Or does the recent appointment of Yorubas in Kaduna state make the state less Northern owned? |

Happiness87: what of the Igbos in govt Are you admitting that Nigeria is not ripe for the inclusive government that Lagos tries to practise with all of its Nigerian inhabitants? Are you suggesting we practice the Abia State model where you even sack fellow tribesmen, who are non indigenes, from their lawful employment in the state service? What century of civilization did you just crawl out from? |

dejavski: Benins r the real owners of Lagos. I know of this history from waybacK I guess the Roman Empire extending to Britain and North Africa means the Romans are the real owners of Britain and North Africa? That a Benin immigrant ruled over the Yoruba natives also means the Yorubas were the fake owners? I guess the British colonialists are still the real owners of Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya,Zimbabwe. |
Politics › Re: LAGOS STATE GOVT - Lagos Is No Man's Land by StOla: 11:15pm On Aug 18, 2015 |
Happiness87: According to the history, the land had no dwellers, Benins were the first to inhabit the land
Benins are not yorubas. It will then be right to say that the real owners of Eko are Benin ALL OTHERS ARE MIGRANTS Do you have to lie on your own post? Did you not post the information below yourself? History has it that the Oba of Bini sent various trade expeditions to Ghana where spices were traded and one of his traders complained about the way she was being treated by the Awori's. The Oba of Bini then sent a trade expedition by sea. Ironically, the leader of the expedition arrived in the evening at a time when the people who were predominantly fishermen were either wading into the water or getting into their boats to gather their catch. He declined to engage them further and returned to what is now called Benin City where he reported to the Oba of Bini that they were attacked. This prompted the Oba of Bini to constitute a war expedition led by Ado, a Bini Prince to go to Lagos and demand an explanation. This was over 650 years ago. However, on getting there, they were well received. The people were so enamored with Ado they asked him to stay and lead them. |

A South West without Lagos was the pace setter region of pre-independent Nigeria.
No need for imagination, consult your history books because it already happened.
It had the 1st university in Nigeria located in Ibadan because the British located where it was needed and where the people demanded for such higher education.
It built the tallest building in West Africa.
It established the 1st television station in all of Africa.
It enforced free and compulsory education for all. Even if there were naked kids, that should not hinder the education of the mind, thus building the human capital that will keep it ahead and worth catching up to by the other regions.
It established industrial estates all over and incorporated an investment company that would ensure the harnessing of its resources to ensure regional sustainability. |

As long as structural reforms are effected, redundant personnel must be sacked. I can tell you that majority of applicants to NNPC do so because it is a haven for the lazy who want to make lots of money with little or no input. No more food for lazy man.

It has to be systematic or it backfires badly. As usual, the typical region is begging for corruption to be pardoned and extinguished slowly. And you still wonder why the committee is composed as it is? |

Flets: As already informed by the die-hard tribalist president, the 5% SE are not represented in an endemically tribalized committee.
Unfortunately, not carrying everyone along will be Buhari's undoing. It will bite him so hard in due time because every move henceforth will be tribally interpreted and shall inspire various reactions. They are not known to have a great anti-corruption trait. Instead they are always challenging any legal effort by whipping up the "my brother" defence. A very bad reputation that has become an ignoble identity. Good effort once again by the president. Nigeria must seize this opportunity to kill the disease called kwarruption. |

BMZK: I may not know the difference between the two policies but if they are the same, it shows how weak the previous administration was for a president to issue an order and such instruction was not carried out accordingly despite a clear dead line. All the same it is a welcome development. God bless Nigeria! God bless those who are striving to see Nigeria is back on track. To the enemies of progress, May God grant them wisdom to repent and join the common goal fight for a better Nigeria. Till now boys are still waiting for the N1000 GEJ ordered Abba Moro to return to applicants for the botched NIS recruitment. Jonathan was a weakling and his staff did not regard him nor acknowledged his authority. Even he made policies and pronouncements for political tokenism. He promised the injured victims jobs with NIS, but no jobs since 2013, not until he extended election dates by 6weeks and quickly arranged a photo op in February 2015 to present appointment letters to these victims - he still lost the election. |

They say "when the head is rotten, the body suffers", they are indeed right!
I can wager my last breath the story would have been different had we re-elected the guy who claims "corruption is exaggerated in Nigeria", or "stealing is not corruption", or absolve someone of corruption simply because the money he stole can barely buy a Peugeot!! The money would have simply vanished and the story would have fizzled into nothingness with the passage of time.
Thank God those days are far behind us. That guy was a dunce who was only acting as a circus clown. He shouldn't have been allowed to even contest for local government councillor. |
