Politics / Re: Lagos is poverty-striken and compares with Aboki states by strangleyo: 4:05am On Jan 09, 2010
FCT seems to be the best of them all.

Lowest incidence of poverty and the lowest GINI.

Lagos isn't doing so great, but that maybe because Lagos is taking statistics.

I don't trust Nigerian statistics. We can't even get a census right.

The FG census of Lagos state said it was 7m people, when the state took its own census, lo and behold 15m people living there.
Politics / Re: This Is The Beginning Of Hell For Nigeria And Nigerians by strangleyo: 3:59am On Jan 09, 2010
The beginning of hell?

Nigeria wasn't too far off on December 23th 2009 to be quite honest.

Half dead president, broken roads, sprawling slums, grinding poverty, 70% adult illiteracy, corruption, no power, water, sanitation, Niger delta rebels, Boko Haram, environmental degradation even without any industrialization, filth, crime, kidnapping, tribalist bigotry, and most of all widespread acceptance of ignorance and stupidity.

No, this fella did not create hell for Nigeria.

He brought the hell known as Nigeria, out of its box.
Politics / Re: America Takes Over Nigeria (my Dream) by strangleyo: 3:52am On Jan 09, 2010
America had colonized the Phillipines in the past. Plenty of rape and murder.

I wouldn't be quite so open to colonial mis-adventures in Africa EVER again!!!
Politics / Re: Where Is The President Of Nigeria by strangleyo: 3:03am On Jan 02, 2010
Military intervention would destroy this country.
Politics / Re: Work Begins On $3bn Lagos Light Rail by strangleyo: 2:21am On Jan 02, 2010
Pifa:

No one makes coal-fired locomotives anymore. The trains will most likely have diesel engines. I say diesel because the other alternative is electrified rail lines (track or overhead cables). But given the electricity situation in Lagos, I am not sure the authorities would choose this mode.

Flintstones.

AfroCynic:

Fashola does not need to serve a second time as Governor. He is ripe for the job of president! Obama was only two years in the senate before he ran for POTUS. There is no other candidate that has got a track record like BRF. I will vote for him should he grow them to run!

Who says Obama will be a good president?
Politics / Re: Work Begins On $3bn Lagos Light Rail by strangleyo: 1:42am On Dec 28, 2009
About fking time, 20 years too late but whatever.

Hopefully when the PDP rig themselves into power in 2011 they won't cancel this or steal the funds.

Stop sending them aid. End of story.

Another failed African state with completely bleeped up priorities.

These are good times to be African.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by strangleyo: 3:35am On Dec 26, 2009
Just bring him back to Nigeria.

Dies in custody, mosque is bulldozed, and Soyonka talks about lack of jobs and prospects for our youth yadda yadda and everyone is happy.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by strangleyo: 3:15am On Dec 26, 2009
Please send him back to Nigeria so we can deal with him like we dealt with Boko haram.
Politics / Re: Breaking News: ''war'' In Central Nigeria by strangleyo: 9:38pm On Dec 21, 2009
The nomadic grazers must go.

Nigeria needs to transform into full industrial farming.

Herding goats doesn't feed a nation of 150m.
Politics / Re: How Would You Describe Yar'aduas Goverment? by strangleyo: 4:04am On Dec 19, 2009
missing, but not necessarily a bad thing considering the way most Africans govern.

Politics / Re: Fg To Site Gun Factory In Abia by strangleyo: 3:13pm On Dec 13, 2009
Nchara:

The makers are already private people, but it is rather unregulated and a reason the govt should step in.

Then I don't see what the problem is.

I am all pro guns making. I wish we made tanks, missiles and nukes too.

A healthy weapons industry is the backbone of every regional power.
Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Losing Its Importance In The World, US Envoys Warn by strangleyo: 4:01am On Dec 13, 2009
I'm not sure how Nigeria was important in the world other than exporting people and oil.
Politics / Re: Fg To Site Gun Factory In Abia by strangleyo: 4:00am On Dec 13, 2009
people being in factories is good, they work etc.

Making weapons is key. Importing weapons is bad.

But making them should be the job of private companies.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Common East African Market Protocal: Federation In 2015. Where Be West Africa? by strangleyo: 2:05am On Nov 22, 2009
I am delighted for them.

Let us congratulate our distant east African brothers on this massive achievement.

Some Nigerians actually think breaking up Nigeria into tiny kingdoms and caliphates will make their lives better. It's all misconceptions.
