There are other ways to discipline a child than beating him/her all of the time.

In school the way a child is disciplined now consist of these options.

1. Preventing them from playing at recess.

2. Making them stay after school to do more school work.

3. Not allowing them to participate in school activities.

4. Giving them extra homework.

5. Suspending them from school for a few days, which means a good old fashioned ass whooping from mom or dad.

This is Nigeria not USA. All those punishment you mentioned are not easily obtainable. Well, in the school I handled last, we the teachers even protect students from being beaten to coma by their parents in the school compound out of anger .
