immortalcrown: That border closure helped Nigeria even if it had its negative impacts. It's many failures can't be attributed to the federal executive but rather the agencies and people who ought to be responsible for implementing the border restrictions who took bribes are were complicit in the lapses. It was to enforce sovereign policy to our neighbours |

Moyinoluwa35: It's the economic failures of Goodluck compounded by the misgivings of Buhari that has us in this conditions. That is why economic policies and long term planning is important because the effects at the micro and macro levels are felt long after the actors have departed the stage. We first went into a recession that consumed the bulk of our foreign reserve as Jonathan exited the stage when NOI had publicly declared just before the electiond that Nigeria had two quarters of negative growth as buhari took office we entered a recession, it was buhari lack of understanding of basic economics and his dependence on people like Emefiele that lead us into having to defend the Naira using out foreign reserve abd we entered a rollet coaster ee ate syill yet to disembark. Buhari had two nasty recession to battle and he turned both around but at a cost which we are now getting to know due to the detention of Emefiele. Once Kemi Adeosun was out of the picture there were no brakes in place, no checks and balancing. |

Ozommadu: Jonathan wrecked the economy with his policies and NOI's IMF style policies without restraint. Buhari reversed it recklessly without restraint too thanks to Emefiele, Adiza & all his phsycophantic advisers. I'll wait and see where Tinubu wants to place his policies but to suggest that the slide has only been since this new administration is totally deceitful. Jonathan removed the subsidy on new year's day without prior adequate notification most people. That January was the first time 98% of the population knew that there was something called subsidy or that Nigeria even paid a subsidy on PMS and Diesel, since then diesel subsidy was removed before this recent PMS removal |

Politics / Re: Lagos State Safety Commission Seals 19 Event Centres For Safety Infractions by sweetgala(m): 10:11am On Dec 08, 2023 |
jaxxy: Most government offices don't accommodate over 1000 people who are halfway intoxicated, some with mobility issues, with many tables and chairs present acting as obstruction. The only one building run by government I can think of that may have an issue would be an hospital and they do have a dedicated safety officer whose responsibility "should be" conducting a survey and making plans. I think there was an incident recently at a federal government hospital where the fire hydrant didn't work because the officer in charge had failed to conduct maintenance. |

Decarbonisation: In this part of the world if you don't go to work because of illness, your employer is only obligated to cover a certain number of if sick days as stipulated in your contract. If the injury was sustained at work they may cover some of your wages if you'll be on an extended period off more than 3 months, the rest is covered either by your income protection insurance, health insurance or the social welfare office. But if you opt not to work none of the above can cover your wages not even social welfare office. Many companies don't even offer maternity pay in these so called "developed" countries, no be even that US where employment laws are so weak and do next to nothing to protect the employee. |

Politics / Re: Lagos State Safety Commission Seals 19 Event Centres For Safety Infractions by sweetgala(m): 9:53am On Dec 08, 2023 |
jaxxy: Lagos state has a fire safety inspection agency that I know. In Nigeria many people do things without proper order, many event centres don't even have adequate insurance, that's why it's such a money spinner because the overheads are small, the only major overhead is diesel for the generator. Rowe wait till a major fire incident happens and over 500 people perish because there is no adequate evacuation plan, and that can happen and how it is yet to happen does bewilder me atimes. |

tesppidd: That can't be proven and it has never been mentioned, however of what we know is true is that Southern governors across party devife meet twice between 2018 and 2021 and put out a public communiqué which stated an agreement of southern presidency. Wike lost the PDP ticket under dubious circumstances to Atiku and felt cheated, the G5 fallout is as a consequence of that. Wike was not offered the VP slot that is a fact but not once did he ever state publicly that such influenced his struggle, of what we know that has been said publicly - Wike was angered at the loss of the PDP ticket - Wike had 4 supporting governors including Ortom was oversaw that nonsense shoddy committee on zoning which permitted Atiku to contest and others like Fayose, Odili, Duke etc - G5 Stance was Southern presidency and this was made known in multiple media communications Wike even granted a seat down with journalist it was over 1hr long. - Wike wanted PDP chairman to step down - Ortom and SE G5, Bode George etc supported Obi publicly and advocated for him. - Wike, Fayose, Makinde etc supported Tinubu, while he didn't declare his intention before election day it was evident, he had meet Tinubu a few times and must have come to an agreement with him, and he put a plan in place which he actualised on election day. It's politics and those are some of the intrigues involved, it's neither the first time in history nor is it particularly sinister of events |

jaxxy: You read safety s d you're asking if it's covid. Many of those event centre don't have adequate emergency exit or fire control mechanism. By standard all should have a sprinkler system installed, must have periodic safety checks and have an emergency exit plan in place for all events with more than 250 guests |

SALLYBERRY01: Of the G5 himself, Makinde and their clique supported Tinubu while the rest like Ortom.supported Obi openly as was agreed. The principle of the G5 was Southern presidency. Both Makinde and Wike have been rewarded for that loyalty, Makinde got second term in a landslide at the expense of the APC candidate likewise Wike with FCT minister and a lot of his loyalist are getting federal appointment 1 Like |

We've been buying at ridiculous prices before he came unless you want him to enter the five fields in the north strike the ground with a staff like Moses and command rice to grow within one week then command it to reach the market magic. The isries behind food production and high prices is beyond inflation or FX it has element of logistics, security, financing etc CBN has come out of the latter after many years of anchor borrowers thankfully 1 Like 1 Share |
