Foreign Affairs / Re: US Government Imposes Sanctions On Israeli Settlers Accused Of West Bank Violenc by sweetgala(m): 10:07pm On Feb 02 |
Fineman2: This would change a lot, most of the funding for the illegal settlement programmes come from US donors, this criminalises the act and people can go to jail for a long time of they are found to be funding violence even by proxy. The assets seized must also be quantifiable for the Fed Gov to freeze them, the settlement drive is a well oiled system based on judicial corruption, international funding and support from US based lobby groups. 1 Like 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Surulere Bye-election: Otti To Lead 30-man Campaign Team For LP by sweetgala(m): 8:39am On Feb 01 |
Sensiblerealist: So the LP gang think they can take Fashola and Gbaja in their domain. Best of luck to them. Fashola and Gbaja don't suffer from the same indifference many lagosians have for Tinubu which cost him the state in the presidential elections. There are many who don't necessarily like Tinubu in Lagos who have nothing against Sanwo, Fashola or Gbaja 1 Like 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Ruth Ogunleye: COAS Lagbaja Warns Personnel To Desist Making Comments by sweetgala(m): 8:37am On Feb 01 |
Elibaba1: I can assure you that while she was still under the command of the same people she accused any attempt to report would have been circumvented. Didn't she say she was remanded in a psych ward and her pay retained. Now she's out of their sight and grasp Many don't even understand the structure of the army globally and the reporting system, the Irish army is currently dealing with allegations of sexual harassment going back over 2 decades, the British army had some major allegations last year and the Americas too, those are the ones I can speak of that I know of publicly which have had a public enquiry done. |
Politics / Re: Ruth Ogunleye: COAS Lagbaja Warns Personnel To Desist Making Comments by sweetgala(m): 8:31am On Feb 01 |
jmoore: This is the army not civies. They would conduct an investigation, given she made claims her safety can't be guaranteed what had been don by the COAS is the best because now she can't be harassed by the individual she has accused while under the protection of the COAS. Nothing new here it's standard operation. |

post=128223843: Stop saying nonsense you don't know about this "saner climes" I've lived in Europe for most of my life and I don't see these sanity you keep banging on about. The only sanity I see is from citizens in their interactions with each other and less the insanity of the government which is no different to what is available in Nigeria of any other democratic countries where politicians run the show. |

TopBanter: The Fulani and Igbo are alike 1 - one is descended from semitic tribes from North Africa ( Berber/ touaregs) the other claims to be descended from Jews who left Egypt 2 - They both preach a dangerous form of exceptionalism which tends to lead them to falsely believe they have the God given right through might or intellect to "rule" Nigeria. We saw it in the first republic, their desire to sideline the SW lead them into an alliance of two cunning entities Ahmadu Bello and Zik we saw how they attempted to abort the Midwest state, It was this same attitude of being superior that influenced the 5 majors into the January 66 coup in all their books and interviews they've not denied this, from the day they went to the military board to join the army they all felt they were better than the rest. Till today when these two ethnic nations are spoken of by the rest it is done with an element of disdain, from the northern tribes to the people of the old Bendel state they see these two expansionist elements who by nature have a small land mass bequeathed to them by their ancestors ever eager to cheat their way through life. If Nigeria does break it would be because of the excesses of the Igbo and Fulani. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Larryndelaw: If it was one of 3 senate seats it'll be fine, it's an house of reps seat, even though it's a super- important one. Being the seat of the current chief of staff and former speaker. But given what gbaja has done in the part few years I doubt they'll unseat APC there. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

It's a fruit bat which are endemic to this part of Africa. Our people are so ignorant or the local wildlife. Imagine that many don't even know that the name "Aluko" in Yoruba refers to a peculiar west African bird with distinct plumage. As we've become more "educated" and western we've lost our "knowledge" of who we are and where we're from. |

mcobinad: Aina, Zaidu and Bassey have been the best players today, Ekong was very good too. Then you have the keeper who was very solid and confident. Osimhen wasn't serviced today, while Lookman did decently chukwueze was just poor and the midfield failed to build play and create something, but the midfield was solid defensively 3 Likes 2 Shares |

sherylbaky: It's not a black thing it's a global reality of hyper-capitalism. If you're familiar with Australia, some parts of Canada, you'll discover so many countries around this world where minerals cause corruption and this manifests as conflict in parts of African because of the lack of governance in remote areas, moral poverty and greed. 1 Like |

NzogbuNzogbu: Because it is, the same issue is happening in Ilesha/Ife axis of osun state, in kogi, Benue and plateau. Some of the land the actors of the plateau massacre are fighting over has large deposits of various minerals. In Zamfara the issue is very desperate and there are big name politicians involved |

Cruise777: Fair play to Seyi Makinde for completing this project but this was started by Ajimobi. The project had really been far too long to complete, if I'm right this extends all the way to and past bashorun market till about General gas. It's a major arterial road serving many major residential and commercial sections. |

Bellotelli: I'm pretty certain the civil service rules and CBN TSA rules Jonathan drafted which Buhari implemented in his first term forbid opening of accounts outside the CBN for government transactions. All MDAs and ministries must use CBN accounts for all transactions and complete frequent audits. It is evident that the civil servants are in collusion with Betta Edu as they did with the previous minister. |
