A lot happens . I have exported all manner of things from Nigeria. And below are my observations :

1. Exports from nigeria are more expensive than other countries. If you try to export soyabeans, palm oil and ginger you will be discouraged by the prices the buyer gives you because there are other countries that sell cheaper .
2. Most export materials are gotten from the villages so you have to transport to a state with port. A lot of export expenses goes into road expenses( each checkpoint has a fixed amount , plus the touts on the road collecting produce tax) ,
3. Community taxes also makes things expensive: you will settle king, youth , elders etc
4. If you do your export on a large scale , you will attract state and local government officials who will tax you without pity.

At the end of all these the international buyer still expects your price to be same as other west African Nations .

Basically, the slave trade in the Bini Empire was seen as taboo and merchants caught practicing in the illegal trade were severely punished by decree of Oba Adolo. Also, only criminals were sacrificed. The British didn't invade Bini because of "slavery" it banned centuries ago but to gain control of the Palm Oil industry.

Most people In Africa and especially the ones from the SW are not bright. You are not asking yourself questions. What is the German Chancellor doing in Nigeria? The man came to negotiate a deal for his country because of the effects of tension between the West and Russia. I don't see his visit to the cultural centre a big deal. After all most of these Europeans would praise you to high heavens when they feel that their is something of immense importance that they want to benefit from you. These is how they deceived their forefathers with mirror and gun powder and took Africans as slaves. How and why alot of people feel that a German coming to see old relics of no economic value is an achievement.

These people have been exploiting us for decades and people who have been commenting are just showing off their low self esteem. If you want the outside world to appreciate your culture upgrade your start to attract tourist and make more money. I don't see the celebration where a German Chancellor who needs us more than we need them is supposed to have swollen heads for. It only shows that alot of people from that region still have slave mentality and believe the white man is god.
