georgeakins: Ibos staged the coup of Jan 1966 out of greed and desperation to produce the head of states. Ibos realised that Azikwe had lost out in power sharing because the office of the ceremonial president he occupied had no constitutional power.
It is strange how Ibos gloss over the evil that took place in Jan 1966, but will be eager to talk about how Ironsi was murdered. Without the coup of Jan 1966, there wouldn't be counter coup about 6 months after, and that civil war would have been avoided.
Once Ibos cannot defeat you in an election, the next thing is to wish you dead. They did to it Buhari . At a time when buhari refused to die, they started lying to themselves and spreading rumour that Buhari was dead. Since Tinubu won, Ibos have been praying for his death. It is what Ibos did in Jan1966 that they're repeating today. The only difference is that they they lack the military power to execute their evil plans. Deep. |

Athena6: Last week I created a thread talking about how my japa plans have been crushed due to the increase in dollar.
Many adviced me to invest in dollar, this was the advice they gave me months ago but I did follow through because I wasn't sure. My last thread hit front page and 90% of the comments were advising me to invest in dollars, one even quoted that in the past 10 years, the dollar haven't fallen but it increases every year.
One even called me a weak minded person and I am scared to take risks. After everything I thought to myself, since so many people felt this dollar will keep on rising, maybe I should invest afterall life is all about risks.
Well guess what, dollar have decreased, I invested 3M in buying dollars and now in today exchange rate. I have 2.6M now and I either cash out now or hope it will increase.
Right now, I am very angry. Those giving me advice should come and contribute the 400k for me o
Another thing, do you think the dollar will increase or should I just cut my loses. I am so tired 😫
Cc Nlfpmod I'm one of the 2 or 3 men on that thread who told you NOT to buy large amounts of USD and/or USDT because the Naira would appreciate as a result of many fast unfolding economic variables. Better to cut your losses and run now because many people will go into systemic shock when they lose their money big time because they have engaged in hoarding or unsustainable market speculations. CNG as part of the energy mix, will become the norm down the road, and the immediate one is that Dangote Refinery in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, is due to start producing at the end of November 2023. The PH refinery too will commence production from the first quarter of 2024. A refinery is being built by BUA in Akwa Ibom State which is the largest producer of crude oil in Nigeria. So, the Naira would appreciate and the demand for imported refined fuel would drop... hence the conservation of a whooping $10 billion that is spent annually on fuel importation. The CBN would also get USD from the refineries' transactions when they start working at near-capacity. Just as I said, better to invest part of the money you have inherited in capacity building, and get involved in cross-border investments that will generate hard currency for you while still in Nigeria. Be wise. Period. |

I now hate guns🤣. Just watched a video where neighbour argument over noise ended up in a man and his step son getting killed. That near-nationwide gun violence is making folks to develop extra sensitivity tbh. |

Kenn55: Moving out of Canada to where? This should be the question. Immigrants are moving out of Canada but not back to the shithole or third world country they came from.
They are moving mostly to the US and the reason is obvious. You make more money in the US than Canada and the cost of living is slightly lower in the US than Canada. So once they get the Canadian passport which allows them to work in the US, they move to the US to earn better money. So Canada is losing a lot of talents to the US and unfortunately for Canada they can't compete with the US.
In my own circle of Nigerian professionals, 5 people I know have relocated to the US from Canada to get better money. I have been tempted to move to the US lately. In fact, 2 weeks ago, I turned down an offer to move at the dieing minute as my liver failed me. The reason why I don't want to live in the US is due to gun violence and their toxic politics in the age of Trump otherwise I would have joined that movement. I prefer Canada due to those reasons.
So when they say immigrants are leaving, they are leaving to the US using their Canadian citizenship. Canada bothering the US is both good and bad for them. The good thing is that because of trade with the US, they are 8th world largest economy despite being a country of 39million people but the bad thing is that Canadian citizens being able to work in the US means they will continue to lose talents to the US as the US presents a better option economically for immigrants True that. |

Ilekokonit: After using MC Oluomo and his boys for "special" election duties, Tinubu will give them more than 8 million each to beat any visa requirement and they are all riff raffs.
Britain made a mistake by their non appearance / no interview visa scheme of circa 2005 as it allowed a lot of Nigerian hard core touts and criminals (and possibly armed robbers) to enter the UK and they are not in a hurry to leave and even when they eventually find a way to get papers, they will never stop committing crime as not having 5 O'levels, they can't get admin work and they still don't want to do menial jobs and they want to wear expensive clothes and jewellery and throw lavish parties and the regular handouts the govt gives unemployed people for feeding and accommodation is not enough to fund their lavish lifestyles. Some of them have 2 or 3 wives in London and live a 24/7 life dedicated to alcohol, weed, clubs, parties, thuggery and occasional fights.
Some of then even go to rob people at cash machines in Woolwich, London or rob themselves at home when dem hear say somebody just hammer.
So some Nigerians have exported their criminality to Western countries.
London wey be say Cele pastor dey wey dey pray for yahoo boys to be successful or evade prison sentence when caught !!!!
I even heard a case many years ago where a lady took her huge British Telecom phone bill she had run up over time to a Cele pastor in London for prayers in the hope that British telecom will either write off or forget the bill ?
Our boys for London don nearly spoil our name finish.
If not that the UK has an ageing population who needs an army of carers to clean their behinds after dem shit finish (a job disguised under the name of care workers) and Nigerians especially our women (including graduates with papers) rush after this kind of degrading job which an oyinbo graduate will NEVER do,) maybe UK for don stop to dey give Nigerians visa.
Although the majority of Nigerians in the UK are hard workers but even at that, the hard working ones still one way or the other is looking for a way to bend the rules or beat the system somewhere. True that. |

benuejosh: NLC at this point has outlived its purpose and has turned to a political party. Acting on proxy for Peter Obi and Labour Party.
Why are you going to protest in a state where the members of your union said they don't have an issue with the Government? And holding a protest few days to elections. What is your plan? Can't he go to Bayelsa where the civil servants are not being paid up to N30,000 minimum wage and are grieving and crying out?
APC has come to stay in the South East and nobody is going to take them out.
I have not hidden it here and i will keep saying it that NLC is acting on behalf of Labour Party. The party they endorsed during the last general election. A Labour union that is taking political side.
NLC has no value again. They have shown themselves that they are political. ● ● NLC Chairman: "them beat me oh" Me: na testing the microphone and gates of beating just got opened.
Modified: For people quoting me, let me make it clear that I have no single pity for his predicaments and beatings. He caused it himself. He learnt the hard way.. He should have gone to other states that are crying for help where their state governors have failed to implement the minimum wage. But he choose Imo State that doesn't have a problem with the government to protest few days to election.
Them do am well. Very deep! |

Science/Technology › Re: Japan Planning To Build Houses Hanging On Air by Swiftgrp: 9:38pm On Nov 03, 2023 |
Domistar5: Several Japanese companies are currently working on innovative technology designed to elevate homes above ground during earthquakes. Among these companies, Air Danshin stands out, as they have unveiled conceptual images of a house floating above the ground, supported by balloon-like structures beneath it.
These homes are equipped with built-in sensors that continuously monitor seismic activity and tremors. When these sensors detect any earthquake activity, they send a signal to an external air compressor located outside the house. This compressor then pumps compressed air into an earthquake-resistant foundation installed beneath the house, raising it above the ground and providing protection.
In more recent developments, architects have been exploring the potential of magnetic levitation technology for use in construction. While this technology is already in use for Japan's high-speed bullet trains, it has yet to be applied to buildings. Although the concept of floating homes remains in the realm of ideas for now, Japan's history of innovation suggests that they could be at the forefront of pioneering this trend. An impressive idea. Magnetic levitation for houses in earthquake situations is doable. |
