The loving father, Mr. Oladapo Ogundipe, CEO of Airwired Nigeria Limited, is now on a solemn quest for justice, driven by an unquenchable desire to unveil the painful truth behind the untimely death of his beloved daughter, Alanis.
Alanis, a bright star in the firmament of life, was a young woman with dreams and aspirations to toe the path of her grandfather, Mr. Samuel Olagunju Ogundipe a 1965 Gwyther Prize winner and the best student in Monetary Theory and Practice in the final part of the London Institute of bankers professional examinations. He was a model banker; the first Nigerian graduate to be employed by UBA and the first CEO of Nigerian Merchant bank and who later Co-Founded Prudent Merchant bank, the forerunner to Skye and Polaris bank. Alanis graduated from Manchester University with a stellar 2.1 degree in Accounting and Finance, she achieved the extraordinary feat of passing 14 out of 15 Associate Chartered Accountant (ACC) exams within a mere 10 months, a feat that usually takes the average person three to four years to accomplish. Her excellence was further validated through stringent background tests conducted by her employer, KPMG, which encompassed medical, financial, drug, mental, and psychological assessments.
Despite residing oceans apart, Alanis remained the apple of her father's eye, his pride and joy. She moved away from the family home when she gained admission to study for the Bachelor of Science degree in Management (Accounting and Finance) at the University of Manchester in 2016, and as her father's first and her parents' only daughter, the family cherished every moment they spent together.
However, a sinister cloud entered Alanis' life in July 2022, in the form of Ryan Legget, her boyfriend, who was introduced to her by one of her friends. A once vibrant, disciplined young woman began spiraling into the depths of despair, as a crypto gambler the boyfriend coerced her into reckless gambling using her own money to make money so they could pay for the things he planned for them to do, as someone who relied on her money, he coerced her into insurmountable debts to himself, by listening to the boyfriend and no longer taking her father's advice to heart as she once did. According to Alanis "the money problems started after she was introduced to Ryan". According to one of her best friends, "Alanis had always been so sensible with money". It was during her last birthday celebration in February 2023 that the depths of Ryan's manipulation became evident. He gifted her a trip to Italy, which she accepted against her dads wishes, only for the boyfriend to shockingly demand a full refund of her spending money upon their return to the UK.
In an attempt to bring happiness to his daughter, Mr. Ogundipe had promised her £100 000 on completion of her exams. Yet, on May 23, 2023, when Ryan discovered this gift, he pressured Alanis into revealing her bank statements and demanded the money. Her refusal triggered an alarming episode that revealed Ryan's dark side. In a surreptitious act of coercive control and invasion of privacy, after obtaining her password without her consent, on the 28th May 2023 he forcibly accessed her phone which contained company information of her father, extracting her bank statements and other sensitive data on her secret formula for staying awake at night for months on end so she could study and pass the 14 out of 15 exams on the ACA program whilst working at KPMG.
This coercive and controlling behavior in violation of section 76 of the Serious Crime Act 2015 and egregious violation of privacy under sections 1 and 2 of the computer misuse and other offenses Act 1990 both of the UK is not only morally reprehensible but also illegal, constituting a blatant infringement of privacy and computer misuse and domestic abuse laws. Armed with this sensitive information, Ryan subjected Alanis to physical, mental, and psychological torment, blackmailing and gaslighting her relentlessly using the data he had stolen from her phone and threatening to paint a false story of her. On May 29th, 2023, Miss Alanis tragically took her own life by jumping in front of a moving train 4 hours after agreeing to make payment. She was emotionally shattered, and her anguish was shared with her mother, making this an undeniable case of coerced suicide. Ryan showed no empathy and did not release her ID required to claim the £100,000 until after her death and after he had attempted to obtain payment from Mr Ogundipe using the stolen data. After failing in that attempt, he has sent abusive messages to Mr Ogundipe and the family. This is unbearable according to Mr Ogundipe.
Mr. Ogundipe, in his valiant pursuit of justice for his cherished daughter, filed a complaint with the United Kingdom Greater ManChester Police Department. The case is awaiting a review following the criming on the 26th July 2023 by the British Transport Police of the hacking allegation and Ryan Legget's uncoerced written admission that he broke into Alanis's phone without her consent and transferred her data using the i message app from her phone to his phone and used the information to gaslight and blackmail her until she agreed to commit to pay him 4 hours before she killed herself.
Now, Mr. Ogundipe is reaching out to both the British and Nigerian governments, imploring them for the uncoerced written confession by the suspect of violation of sections 1 and 2 of the UK Computer Misuse and other Offenses Act 1990 to be taken into account for the family’s healing and to secure justice for his beloved daughter, whose life was unjustly extinguished. Since Alanis's passing, the Ogundipe family has been plunged into profound despair, with Mr. Ogundipe ceasing to work, overwhelmed by grief for the loss of his only daughter. All he yearns for is justice. Mr Ogundipe is very concerned that Ryan(@ryanleggett_) is going around freely with the data he stole from Alanis phone which may include information on his company and business.
This heartrending saga is a testament to the urgent need for justice and the importance of exposing the dark shadows of manipulation and abuse. Some say he has not been fair, equitable and just; especially those who say that he has unduly favoured his Yoruba ethnic group. To buttress their point, they have listed some important and critical appointments which they say have gone the way of Tinubu’s Yoruba ethnic group. Let us take the appointments one after the other, beginning with the office of Chief of Staff, created in 1999 by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo. We have since then had the following as Chief of Staff. 1. Abdullahi Mohammed (Northerner), 29 May, 1999 – 2 June, 2008; 9 years. 2. Relatively-unknown Gbolade Osinowo (South-west), 2 June 2008 – 18 September, 2008; three-and-half months, after which the then President Umaru Yar’Ádua abolished the position. 3. Mike Oghiadomhe (South-South), 17 May, 2010 – 10 February 2014; about 4 years (after President Goodluck Jonathan reinstated the position). 4. Jones Arogbofa (Yoruba), 18 February 2014 – 29 May, 2015; one year, three months. 5. Abba Kyari (Northerner), 27 August 2015 – 17 April, 2022, almost seven years). 6. Ibrahim Gambari (Kwara state/North Central), 13 May, 2020 – 29 May, 2023, three years). So, the North has held the position for 16 years; South-South, 4 years; North-Central, 3 years; South-west, one-and-half years before the current holder of the post, Femi Gbajabiamila, who came into office on 14 June, 2023, less than 5 months ago. My verdict: This appointment by President Tinubu is justified.
Next is the position of the National Security Adviser; WIKIPEDIA described this position as “a senior official in the cabinet of the President of Nigeria who manages national security on behalf of the President and serves as his chief advisor on all matters that are vital to the very survival of the State. The position is a statutory member of the Presidency, National Security Council and the Federal Executive Council. The occupants since 1993 are: 1. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, 2 January 1993 – 30 August, 1993, eight months. 2. Ismaila Gwarzo, 30 August 1993 – 9 June, 1998, about 5 years. 3. Abdullahi Mohammed, 9 June 1998 – 29 May, 1999, 1 year. 4. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, 29 May, 1999 – 1 June, 2006, seven years. 5. Abdullahi Sarki Mukhtar 1 June, 2006 – 8 March, 2010, five years. 6. The North seized the position again with the appointment of Sambo Dasuki, 22 June, 2012 -13 July, 2015, three years. 10. Babagana Monguno, 13 July, 2015 – 26 June 2023, eight years. The current holder of the position, Nuhu Ribadu, appointed on 26 June, 2023, is also a Northerner. No person of South-west origin has held the position in a substantive position. If President Tinubu appoints a Yoruba man into the office today, there will be an outcry of “Yorubanization” but he will be justified.
Next is the Chief of Army Staff, the undisputed flagship of the Nigerian Armed Forces: The last time a Yoruba (South-west) was Chief of Army Staff (Lt. Gen. Ipoola Alani Akinrinade) was in 1979 – and for only six months! It has been Northerners all the way: Lt. Gen. Gibson Jalo; Lt. Gen. Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi; Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Babangida; Lt. Gen. Sani Abacha; Lt. Gen. Salihu Ibrahim; Lt. Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau; Maj. Gen. Chris Alli; Major-Gen. Alwali Kazir; Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi; Lt. Gen. Victor Malu; Lt. Gen. Alexander Ogomudia (South-South); Lt. Gen. Martin Luther Agwai; Lt. Gen. Owoye Andrew Azazi (South-South); Lt. Gen. Luka Yusuf; Addulrahman Bello Dambazzau; Lt. The incumbent Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is the first Yoruba (South-west) to head the organization in a substantive capacity since its inception despite that the chunk of its revenue comes from the region! The list of the Comptroller-Generals is dominated by Northerners: Shehu Ahmadu Musa; Gen. S. O. G. Ango (Sole Administrator); Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Mustapha; Jacob Gyang Buba; Hamman Bello Ahmed; Bernard-Shaw Nwadialo; Dikko Inde Abdullahi and retired Army Colonel Hammed Ali. Is Adeniyi’s appointment justified? It is! What of the Nigeria Immigration Service? The current acting Comptroller-General, Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, is the first Yoruba (South-west) to occupy the post, though still in an acting capacity. Is her appointment justified? Very, very!
What of the EFCC, founded in 1999 by President Olusegun Obasanjo? The list of appointees into the position of Executive Chairman as well as acting Chairman of the EFCC has been an exclusive preserve of the North: Ibrahim Lamorde (Adamawa), acting Chairman, 2008; Ibrahim Magu (Borno state), Acting Chairman, 2015 – 2020; Mohammed Umar Abba (Kano state), acting Chairman, 2020 – 2021; Abdulkarim Chukkol (from Borno state), acting Chairman (June 2023 – October, 2023). The substantive chairmen are: Nuhu Ribadu (from Adamawa, appointed in 2003 and re-appointed in 2007), Farida Waziri (Benue state), AbdulRasheed Bawa (Kebbi state). The incumbent, Olanipekun Olukoyede, is the first Southerner ever to occupy the position. Is the appointment justified? Super justified!
What of the position of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, which some people think is their birthright and exclusive preserve? The incumbent governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, was appointed by President Tinubu on 15 September, 2023. His predecessors are: Roy Pentelow Fenton (24 July, 1958 – 24 July, 1963); Aliyu Mai-Bornu (25 July, 1963 -22 June, 1967); Clement Nyong Isong (15 August, 1967 – 22 September, 1975); Adamu Ciroma (24 September, 1975 -28 June, 1977); Ola Vincent (28 June, 1982 – 30 September, 1993); Paul Agbai Ogwuma (1 October, 1993 – 29 May, 1999); Joseph Oladele Sanusi (29 May, 1999 – 29 May, 2004); Charles Chukwuma Soludo (29 May, 2004 – 29 May, 2009); Sanusi Lamido Aminu Sanusi (3 June, 2009 – 20 February, 2014); Sarah Alade (in acting capacity: 20 February 2014 – 3 June, 2014); Godwin Emefiele (3 June, 2014 – 9 June, 2023); Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi (in acting capacity: 9 June, 2023 – 15 September, 2023). As usual, the North has held the post for 22 years, far more than the other regions of the country. South-South (eight years) but if Emefiele is counted as South-South and you add his nine years, then, South-South shoots up to 17 years! South-west 10 years plus seven months in acting capacity and the South-East, 11 years; but if Emefiele is treated as Igbo and you add his nine years, then the South-east moves up to 20 years, next to the North! In view of these statistics, is Tinubu’s appointment of Cardoso as CBN governor justified? It is!
The Minister of Finance is another example of Yorubanization being pointed at. Let’s look at the statistics: Wale Edun is the incumbent, appointed by President Tinubu on 16 August, 2023. Since the Fourth Republic began in 1999, it has been Adamu Ciroma (Yobe State), 1999 -2003; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Delta State), 2003 – 2006; Nenadi Usman (Kaduna State), 2006 – 2007; Shamsuddeen Usman (Kano State), 2007 – 2009; Mansur Mukhtar (Borno State), 2009 – 2010; Olusegun Aganga (Ekiti State), 2010 – 2011); Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Delta State) 2011 -2015; Kemi Adeosun (Ogun State), 2015 – 2018; and Zainab Ahmed (Kaduna State) 2018 – 2023. Recall that Adeosun’s tenure was truncated as a result of the trumped-up controversy over her NYSC discharge certificate and as if Buhari and the cabals around him were waiting for that to happen, the position was quickly given to one of their own! It remains to be seen whether the Yoruba, who led the bandwagon of those who roasted Adeosun, have learnt any lesson! The South-west has done only about five years, less than what Okonjo-Iweala alone chalked up for Delta and Zainab Ahmed for the North! Is the appointment of Edun as Finance Minister justified? It is!
I can go on and on! For instance, no one from the South-west has been the INEC chairman since 1999. The list is: Ephraim Akpata (1998 – 2000); Abel Guobadia (2000 – 2005); Maurice Iwu (2005 – 2010); Atahiru Jega (2010 – 2015); and the incumbent, Mahmood Yakubu, in office since 2015. Is it not only just, fair and equitable for the next INEC chairman to come from Yoruba land? There are countless other important offices, agencies and parastatals of the Federal Government (Code of Conduct Bureau, Code of Conduct Tribunal, among others) where Southerners, and specifically the South-west/Yoruba, have been marginalized for ages.
Not only can we not wish away Prof. Richard Joseph’s theory of prebendal politics in Nigeria, a federal state such as Nigeria must also ensure that no section is marginalized to the point that succession becomes an enticing option. That is what the agitation for Biafra and Yoruba Nation tells us. Nigeria’s minority groups, too, have their grievances; one of which is the erroneous assumption, always, that only the major ethnic groups matter. Some of President Tinubu’s appointments have been sensitive to the need to change that narrative. A few examples: The Chief of Defence Staff is General Christopher Gwabin Musa, from the minority Zangon Kataf of southern Kaduna State. We have not forgotten the controversy generated when Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla was named the Chief of Naval Staff, with some Igbo leaders saying he did not come from “mainstream” Igbo! George Akume, appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation by President Tinubu, is a minority from Benue State. There are so many other such appointments which, in my mind, were directed at correcting the injustices of the past.
But all said and done, is the President infallible or can he please everyone? No mortal can! That is the wisdom in Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey’s evergreen song titled “Ketekete” (The Horse, The Man and The Son)!

There are over 7 million Muslims in the U.S. alone from many countries of the world including pure white European-American and African-American converts. So, it's gonna be tough to control these kinds of attacks on home soil. Eternal vigilance is key though.
The only extreme solution would be to expel all Muslims to their original homelands or other places like the combined indigenous Spanish and Portuguese military did in 1492 when Muslim Spain was finally defeated after over 800 years of Berber/Arab conquest of the Iberian Peninsula (Especially Spain). Many died and others crossed back into North Africa and ended up causing trouble (like the Almoravids did) by attacking existing Black West African Empires of Ghana, Songhai, etc).

You should visit the Seychelles Islands or Mauritius, which are creme-de-la-creme Africa destinations.

Some Nigerians are calling for the arrest of a content creator with the name SwizzyBellaNaija, after she uploaded a video of herself showing her n@ked body to a dispatch rider for content.
The Abuja-based content creator who is blessed with a huge bosom, said she did the ‘experiment’ to see the reaction of the dispatch rider to her endowment.
According to her, she ordered something online and when she sighted the male delivery man coming upstairs to her apartment, she arranged with her photographer to film him.
She announced that she would like viewers to see what his reaction would be to a ‘set up’.
Once the man was there, she told him she wanted to show him something and he should follow her.
When they descended to a landing on the staircase, she asked the man to stand away from her. She then opened her towel for the man.
“Why you come dey shake?” she can be heard asking the man.
“I’m not shaking anything” the man responded calmly, appearing unfazed.
But when the material got online, it did not receive the kind of reception Bella was expecting.
Many netizens thought it crossed the line, and was tantamount to s3xual harassment of the gentleman who was only there to do his job.

The University of Mpumalanga in South Africa is trending after videos of a class presentation on culture by topless students found their way to the internet.
The videos show various tribes of South Africa projecting their culture, including traditional attires, songs and dance.
The talking point is the projection of the Zulu culture by a group of female students who shocked their colleagues by stepping out completely topless, wearing only thick neck beads that did nothing to cover their bosoms.
They donned the traditional short skirts worn by Zulu maidens that just barely covered their modesty.
A video of the leader of the group, a young lady, delivering bold and energetic oral poetry and dance steps has gone viral.
She spoke their native language and attracted wild applause from her classmates many times, and was later joined by other equally topless mates to deliver a choreographed traditional dance.
The presentation has attracted mixed reactions online, with many wondering if South Africa needs to sustain the ‘naked’ culture that most other African countries have since left behind them in the 21st century.

Timagex: The reason you believed that it is a matter of choice is because, most people tilt it to the side that looks best on them. There are times I have also told my clients to tilt their FÌLÀ to another side during photoshoots because the correct side doesn't look good on them. Our culture is fading. Some of us are just trying to salvage the situation. 😎
The married men wear and tilt their FÌLÀ to the left side and the unmarried tilt theirs to the right. That's the traditionally correct way.

I will do more research as to why Yoruba culture entails wearing the tilted Gobi to the left for married men and vice versa. So, if a man has been married before and gets separated from his woman, he has to revert to tilting his Gobis to the right.

The existing believe is that, married men wear and tilt their FÌLÀ to the left, while single men tilt theirs to the right.

Today most languages are not widely spoken or accepted because a language become valued due to the commercial strength of the tribe or nation speaking it.
For instance, let me use Yorùbá language as a case study. Most Western Nigerians don't know that they're not Yorùbás because their ancestors were dominated by the Yorùbás under the Ọ̀yọ́ empire and they were forced to learn the language of their colonial masters. Only the Yorùbás had kings ruling over them the other tribes live in small communities and villages so it's family heads and most elderly in their community that always set standards for them until the Ọ̀yọ́ people (the real Yorùbás) began demanding taxes from them that all these tribes started coming together to form larger communities, install Kings and rebelling against the Ọ̀yọ́ empire.
So when the Whitemen arrived they discovered that the widely spoken tongue in the west that everyone could understand is the Yorùbá language, they called the Western Nigerians "Yorùbá speaking people"
But in reality there are countless languages in the west like Ànàgó, Ẹ̀gbá, Ìjẹ̀ṣà, Òndó, Èkìtì, Àkókó, Ọ̀wọ̀, Ìjẹ̀bú, Ifọ́n-òmìmà, Ìkálẹ̀, Ìlàjẹ and many others that when they speak even the one claiming Yorùbá man can't understand what they're saying!
So slavery has always been associated with widespread languages even before the English man came with his own language!
A quick correction here.
In England, we have different dialects of the English language that exist, but the English folks are related based on the fusion of the ancestral Germanic tribes who came in waves from mainland Europe called the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes. Then in 1066 BCE we had the Norman conquests of England by William of Normandy whose rule brought French as a court or Royal language in England.
My point is that many of the Yoruba subethnic groups you listed in your post have direct ancestral ties... meaning they are genetically related. The Egbas are a BRANCH of the Oyo people meaning they are directly related. The Egbas of Abeokuta used live in Ibadan but moved to Abeokuta in the 1840s after their Oyo cousins moved in large numbers into Ibadan as refugees and set it up fully as a military settlement under the leadership of competent warriors (due to the Civil Wars and upheavals in the Oyo Empire).
True the Yoruba indigenous folks of Western Nigeria, North Central Nigeria, Itsekiris of the Delta, Benin Republic, and those of the Atakpame region of Togo did not refer to themselves generically with the name Yoruba until the 1800s, but referred to themselves based on the names of their subgroups... Ekiti, Awori, Oyo, Egba, Ijebu, Igbomina, Okuns of Kogi State, Ikale, Ilaje, Ijesa, Ondo, Akure, Ketou, Anago, etc. Most of these dialects can easily be understood by folks from other Yoruba subgroups. I know though that Owo can sound like a completely different language perhaps because of the proximity to the Benin-Edo area.
The Oyo Empire was dominant and aside from the Oyos, the vast empire included other Yoruba subgroups in Nigeria, modern Benin Republic, Togo, some parts of the Nupe and Bariba area were conquered and colonized by Oyo and they paid tributes to Oyo.
The term Yoruba has come to be accepted as a generic means of identification of all the subgroups that are ancestrally related to one another and speak nearly the same language (although with different dialects).

The thread had a pic depicting a lady's social media post about getting an emergency US passport in a few hours, at a US embassy. In that thread, the overarching sentiment of posts was - that could never happen at a Nigerian embassy.
Well, the definitive answer is.. YES, it can and it does. I know this, because I did it only 3 months ago. A standard Nigerian passport renewal, not an emergency passport like thaty lady got. And no, I'm not talking about any "back doors" or "greasing" any palms.
I responded in that thread, but felt it's also relevant to emphasize it in detail in a new thread. Nigeria is incredibly incompetent at most things, but once in a while, something works. As they say, even a broken clock is correct once a day.
Just for context, I travel with a US passport, but use my Nigerian passport when going to Nigeria, or some African countries. I've renewed my US and Nigerian passports in multiple countries (as I travel quite a bit), so I've had some experience with both.
From the screenshot in that previous thread, it's clear the lady was NOT in the US when she got the emergency passport. In the US, we don't go to an "embassy" to get a passport, as "US embassies" don't exist in... the US. The emergency passport is no big deal and comes with only 5 or 6 pages, so you still need a standard renewal when you get home.
Also, the current estimated time for a US passport within the US is 11 weeks, and the "rush" service is 5-7 weeks. There has been a lot of passport backlog, similar to the situation in Nigeria, but it's a bit better now, I believe. I renewed my US passport in Argentina last year, and got it in about 2 weeks.
Anyway, I went to Brasilia, Brazil 3 months ago, to renew my Nigerian passport, as that was the only passport-issuing location in the region I was traveling. I first visited the Nigerian embassy in Argentina and was told they don't produce passports, but I could get it in Brazil on the same day. I was very skeptical of that information, because... Nigeria.
As it turns out, the entire process from getting there, to receiving my new passport was a few hours. It wasn't some emergency passport either. It was a standard passport. I paid online > booked an appointment > went there. Paid an administrative fee > did the capturing and walked out with my new passport all in 2-3 hours. I was literally the only person being attended to at the Nigerian embassy, though. It was empty, except about 4-6 embassy staff I saw. The guy who attended to me was also very polite and professional (something lacking in most Nigerian operations).
So, not only can you get your international passport at a Nigerian embassy in a few hours, it's a permanent passport - not an emergency one. Shout out to the Nigerian embassy in Brasilia, Brazil. The embassy in New York is a different story. Took me many months and headaches to renew there, in 2017.

Obviously the Nigerian Embassy in Brasilia didn't have much crowd waiting to get new passports, so issuing new travel passports was faster. The New York embassy has a deluge of Diapora Nigerians to deal with in the U.S. or North America, so, the waiting time would be a little longer. In any event, these man-made inefficiencies can be removed to enhance travel passports collections. There's NO rocket science here.
