Why is common sense not common? Nigeria is becoming the largest hub for private jets in africa and they want to spoil that trend which might someday promp boeing to build one of their assembly plants here thereby creating jobs and revenue for the nation. If something must be done it should be the FAA taxing this jets and using the money to maintain our airports.

you're right on one point. Rivers state like lagos is growing rapidly and no matter how sorphisticated the road networks are, there are bound to be traffic gridlocks. There's this lie i see on nairaland always about port harcourt having "aba road" as it's only major road well it has olu obasanjo road, stadium road, peter odili road, airport road, eneka/iguruta road, rumuola road, infact i can't mention all, just bear in mind we're making progree but ameachi is getting silghtly lazy.

i find your comment most offensive as port harcourt is the most purpose built city in nigeria. Now don't confuse things port harcourt metropolis is from borokiri down to azikiwe road. Use google earth and search this area and you'll see a city built by the british where the queen and prince phillip stayed while visiting nigeria after her coronation. I admit the outskirts of port harcourt have building and road problems. Steps are being taken to straighten them out cause unlike lagos, the abnormalities is in it's infancy and can be reversed.

For GOD's sake why is nothing happening in Rivers in the area of road (re)construction presently? The state is presently standing still. Amechi must be snoring now. Most roads are bad with traffic jam every where. Go to okporo rd and you will weep. That road when completed will not survive this rainny season unless the old one is scrapped to a good depth and corrected.

I heard that the civil servants were not paid in december. Only Akpabio is trying presently.

you're right on the road construction front. Since ameachi was made chairman of the governours forum, he has been alof and out of touch with the state in some mediums. But i'm really proud of the roads he has done and the once currently under construction. As for the monorail, i always knew it would fail so i never belived in it. In summary i really do belive ameachi's position as governours forum chairman has really shifted his attention from his primary duty as rivers state governour.

Some time ago pres. Jonathan commissioned a newly built estate for the military, police and immigration personels. The scale of this estate was so large, camera crews used helicopters to get an ariel view but i realise that this momentus feat was'nt reported by media like channels and others. You won't blame the president for feeling victimized rather apprecaite the fact your president is not alof and a snub. He saw a problem and acted promptly.

Rivers state is the only country in nigeria that prosecute parents who don't send their kids to school. Schools in rivers state provide bags, uniforms, books, sandals and even lunch to students. Their are state of the art health centres in every part of the state. The rssda scholarship is the largest overseas scholarship scheme in nigeria. Rssda also encourages small scale buisness. The rivers state government is the largest investor in fishery. Bonny island is the only place in nigeria that enjoys uninterrupted power supply and rivers state has enough power to feed the state, it's just waiting for federal permission to supply. The list is endless.
