Dear bro,Isn't that obvious? In this life, some cannot do what they desire, at the time they desire, for one reason or the other. One is just a slave to his circumstance. "...Why did I not perish at birth, come forth from the womb and expire? Or why was I not buried away like an untimely birth, like babes that have never seen the light? Wherefore did the knees receive me? or why did I suck at the breasts? For then I should have lain down and been tranquil;had I slept, I should then have been at rest...." Job 3:1-3,11-17,20-23.

How many times have we felt like, "Ah, I cannot die now; God knows I am still building up this group, family, company, or... God cannot take me now; I am just entering the university and He knows papa and mama hopes on me, or... death cannot come now that I am preparing for my wedding, etc". In recent times, how many deaths around you could you say the people were ready for it, were they not people with unfinished business, unrealized dreams, unaccomplished visions? hmm...but they died all the same, and life goes on without them.

Death. The surest of all things, yet the least talked about. Why am I afraid of death, eh, why? This life where I hussle for pomo; when some others are feeding their dogs with turkey, I dreamed of studying nuclear physics; yet all i could get was industrial welding, my childhood friend is now a cardinal; yet I am still here in a local parish as a priest, From morning till night, through the year, I barely have time to say hi to my brethren in the catholic thread due to work, yet some others just have holidaying for a vocation. "How can a life be loved that is filled with so much bitterness, that is subject to so many calamities and miseries? How can it be called life when it gives birth to so many deadly and disastrous things"...Thomas a'kempis.

Why am I afraid of death? Uncertainty. What am I not certain of? That there is no heaven? No. I believe all that Jesus said. What am I not certain of then? That I will make heaven. Aha, so what am I doing about it, wishing the day never comes? Isn't that like drowning my problems in alcohol? The scripture assures us thus: “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord henceforth.Yeah, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours, for their deeds follow them’” (Rev 14:13). Isn't this what I really need, after this vale of tears...a well deserved rest. Shouldn't I be ready to "die in the lord" at all times? What is it that will prevent me from dying in the lord now? Is it worth the sacrifice of my eternal rest? "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword?" says St. Paul. Again I say who? A fiance/fiancee, a benefactor, a ward/child, a parent, a boy/girlfriend, are these worth the sacrifice of my eternal rest, who would go on living if i die now.

"The death of the just man is good because it brings him peace: it is better still for the new joy it gives to him, and best of all because the peace and joy that death brings are never-ending"...... St. Bernard

And I live in hope of so high a form of life, that I die because I do not die”.... St. Teresa of Avila

What will be my lot, If death comes today?

Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all

IFY124: Happy sunday friends. Happy new week too kiss . October is at the corner. Are we ready for october devotion?
You are right sis, especially to anyone who the words below speaks to:

"...The road from light into darkness begins slowly. It is like a twilight. The person still believes, still practices their faith, but in certain areas of life they begin to leave God’s law behind. Attractions grow that were never tolerated before. Religious practices become secondary and routine. The flower is cut off from its deep roots of faith and no longer draws nourishment from the soil.

The person can no longer fight the culture and soon becomes one with it. The joys found in religious practices fade and the heart is consumed with worldly goals. The soul becomes powerless in the face of temptations and more and more succumbs to a lifestyle that it would previously have rejected.

The soul has not yet fallen into darkness but it skirts the edges, stumbles often, rises slowly and is greatly weakened while Satan waits for his moment, ready to claim a soul that had lived in the light...".

Rich4god: Final day... Feast of St Vincent de Paul - Patron Saint of Charity...

Reflection from Matt 25:31-40
.

31 “But when the Son of Man comes in His
glory, and all the angels with Him, then He
will sit on His glorious throne.32 All the
nations will be gathered before Him; and He
will separate them from one another, as the
shepherd separates the sheep from the
goats;33 and He will put the sheep on His
right, and the goats on the left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on His
right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world.35
For I was hungry, and you gave Me
something to eat; I was thirsty, and you
gave Me something to drink; I was a
stranger, and you invited Me in;36 naked,
and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you
visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to
Me.’37 Then the righteous will answer Him,
‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and
feed You, or thirsty, and give You something
to drink?38 And when did we see You a
stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and
clothe You?39 When did we see You sick, or
in prison, and come to You?’ 40 The King
will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to
you, to the extent that you did it to one of
these brothers of Mine, even the least of
them, you did it to Me.
.

This passage is the summary of what we have been reflecting on in the last 9 days... Show love to your brothers and sisters... Show love to the needy... How can we prove our love towards God if we cant practice it on those we see around us... Christ said " I was hungry/naked/thirsty and you provided for me".... He didnt say that "you preached for me"... Again, He said "I was in prison/sick and you visited me"... He didnt say that " you remembered him in your prayers"...
Even though being spiritually strong and active is good, but there are things that require our physical actions other than trying to go spiritual about it. Just like I have learnt from the society... "the poor are too hungry to be preached to and they are too confused/disturbed to concentrate in prayers"... So if you want to truly help the needy, start by facing the physical challenge they have at that moment... Remember Christ's saying... "whatever you do to the least of my brother, that you do onto me"...
How joyful will it be for us to know that the person whom we gave N10 to buy pure water, was actually Christ himself...
We pray that God will help us to see Christ in the eyes of the needy...
For it is in Giving that we Recieve...
St Vincent de Paul...
We've got an "expo" on our hands, exam questions of the judgement day, Yet how often we behave like...well, some folks, who are bound to fail. Thanks Rich4God for taking us through this Novena, may it bear fruits in our lives a thousand fold. Happy feast day.

Rich4god: Day 8
Reflection from Luke 10:25-37...
.

25 Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus.
[a] “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to
inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him,
“What is written in the law? What do you
read there?”27 He answered, “You shall
love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your
strength, and with all your mind; and your
neighbor as yourself.”28 And he said to
him, “You have given the right answer; do
this, and you will live.”
29 But wanting to justify himself, he asked
Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus
replied, “A man was going down from
Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands
of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and
went away, leaving him half dead.31 Now
by chance a priest was going down that
road; and when he saw him, he passed by
on the other side.32 So likewise a Levite,
when he came to the place and saw him,
passed by on the other side.33 But a
Samaritan while traveling came near him;
and when he saw him, he was moved with
pity.34 He went to him and bandaged his
wounds, having poured oil and wine on
them. Then he put him on his own animal,
brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 The next day he took out two denarii,[b]
gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take
care of him; and when I come back, I will
repay you whatever more you spend.’36
Which of these three, do you think, was a
neighbor to the man who fell into the hands
of the robbers?”37 He said, “The one who
showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go
and do likewise.”
.
Who is your neighbour... Do you help only your relations, do you help only those you consider your neighbour/friends or do you help anyone that needs help. From the passage, we clearly saw who was the better neighbour. But there is something I would like to point out. The pharisee and the levite might have a reason for not wanting to help the wounded man. They may be feeling that going over to touch the man will make them unclean to perform their duties according to the law, therefore they decided to look the other way as they pass by. So many people are like this... We always allow one thing or the other to come between us and the needy. Most time we think because the person doesnt share our faith/tribe, so he is not worth helping... Sometimes, we feel because of who/what we are, we are not supposed to be seen among the needy/poor... In the real sence, there is nothing other than sin that is supposed to keep us away from helping the needy when we have the resource to do so.
If christ could keep aside His divine nature just for the sake of humanity, why cant we shake off our ego, position, personality so as to do the needful thing....
We pray for the grace to overcome what ever situation that we bar us from helping our neighbour....

Good morning...
Well done Rich4god, excuses excuses excuses, yet what is needed is left undone. Thanks for sharing, by His grace we will fare better.

Good morning, a splendid day ahead to all.

Rich4god: Day 6
Refelection from Mark 10:17-31
.

17 As Jesus was starting out on his way to
Jerusalem, a man came running up to him,
knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what
must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked.
“Only God is truly good. 19 But to answer
your question, you know the
commandments: ‘You must not murder. You
must not commit adultery. You must not
steal. You must not testify falsely. You must
not cheat anyone. Honor your father and
mother.’[a]”
20 “Teacher,” the man replied, “I’ve obeyed
all these commandments since I was
young.”
21 Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine
love for him. “There is still one thing you
haven’t done,” he told him. “Go and sell all
your possessions and give the money to the
poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.
Then come, follow me.”
22 At this the man’s face fell, and he went
away sad, for he had many possessions.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his
disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to
enter the Kingdom of God!”24 This amazed
them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it
is very hard[b] to enter the Kingdom of God.
25 In fact, it is easier for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle than for a rich
person to enter the Kingdom of God!”
26 The disciples were astounded. “Then
who in the world can be saved?” they asked.
27 Jesus looked at them intently and said,
“Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not
with God. Everything is possible with God.”
28 Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve
given up everything to follow you,” he said.
29 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you
that everyone who has given up house or
brothers or sisters or mother or father or
children or property, for my sake and for the
Good News,30 will receive now in return a
hundred times as many houses, brothers,
sisters, mothers, children, and property—
along with persecution. And in the world to
come that person will have eternal life.31
But many who are the greatest now will be
least important then, and those who seem
least important now will be the greatest
then.
.
Jesus said..."How hard is it for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God". He made this statement not just once but twice. Does it mean that its wrong for someone to be rich? Well, for me I dont think so. But Jesus is against the character and attitude that most rich man display. The past two days, our reflection have been about rich men... It means that, as a rich man there is more for you to do. From the passage, the rich man wasnt happy after Christ told him to sell his possession and give it to the poor. So many of us are like that. We find it difficult to use our wealth/resource to help and establish someone in need because we feel its not our duty. We so much portray the spirit of negligence mainly because we dont associate with the poor. As a rich person, we associate with people of our class, work with people of our class, leave in an area that harbours only people of our class, allow only those we know we have business with to visit us... When then will we have time to see and help the poor. Here, Christ just gave us the secret that the rich men of our previous reflection didnt know... "how to build up treasures in heaven"... The other rich men have the resource here on earth, but they couldnt use it to build up treasures in heaven, but here, Christ have given us the secret... By helping the needy with our wealth, we build up treasures in heaven that will be waiting for us on the last day. Just as we see it as a duty to deposit our money in banks, we should also see it as a duty to devout our time building up treasures in heaven...

We pray that God will help us to devout more of our time and resource in helping the needy... For its in given that we get to build up treasures...
God bless you bro.

A splendid day ahead to all.

Now about food sacrificed to idols.... Well then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: we know that idols do not really exist in the world and that there is no god but the ...One God, the Father, from whom all things come and for whom we exist; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things come and through whom we exist. Some people, however, do not have this knowledge. There are some who have been so long used to idols that they eat this food as though it really had been sacrificed to the idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled by it. In this way your knowledge could become the ruin of someone weak, of a brother for whom Christ died. By sinning in this way against your brothers, and injuring their weak consciences, it would be Christ against whom you sinned. That is why, since food can be the occasion of my brother’s downfall, I shall never eat meat again in case I am the cause of a brother’s downfall. 1 Corinthians 8:1-7,11-13

Love. A word that is small, but an emotion so powerful, that it lightens heavy loads. The sacrifices people make for love...look into your life, as I look into mine, what huge sacrifice have we made for the sake of love. Often times we only remember it as a "huge sacrifice" when there is a problem, never when the going is good. Its my right to discuss anything, its my right to dress any how, its my right to visit anywhere...yes as long as I am not infringing on anyone's right, but isn't that same with St. Paul? Yet he will not only give up sacrificed meat, but will give up meat entirely so as to keep a brother from commiting sin. Living in line with our rights is like obeying the letters of the law, it was what the pharisees did, but Christians go further, they look out for others even to giving up their rights. Debbie should mind the content of her jokes; because Ubenedictus may sin with it, SalC should be careful of her dressing because kamsified and Rich4God may be scandalized, Ify124 may forfeit jw watch towa magazine because mariagorreti may not have the knowledge to pick out the truth from the false, Italo should stop complaining about long sermon because francistony may stop going for mass. We've got a responsibilty of love, first to God and then to our fellow man.

Good morning all, a splendid day ahead.

babestell: SINGLE YEARS
"Are you free of a wife? If so, do not go in search of one." —1 Corinthians 7:27 smiley  1st reading
Those gifted to be single for the Lord do not commit sin if they marry (1 Cor 7:28). "But such people will have trials in this life, and these I should like to spare you" (1 Cor 7:28). All people have trials; so Paul must have been referring to unnecessary, additional trials. Moreover, it is sometimes good to undergo trials. However, Paul must not have been referring to "good" trials, or he would not have tried to spare anyone these trials. In summary, in the Scriptures the Lord indicates that those who marry but were called to be single will have unnecessary, additional trials, which it would have been better not to have undergone.

Is the Lord trying to show those who are single the way to the easiest, most comfortable life? No, He is trying to keep singles as free as possible to help them devote themselves entirely to Him (1 Cor 7:35). Some people in the Body of Christ need to be available for anything at any time to further God's kingdom. They must not be tied down by unnecessary trials. The exceptional freedom and availability of those single for the Lord is not for their ease and comfort; rather, it is for the good of the Body of Christ.

"The time is short" (1 Cor 7:29), and the times are stressful (1 Cor 7:26). Those of you called to the single life, the Body of Christ needs your gift now more than ever. Be single for the Lord and His kingdom.

Culled from Laudate app

"Make no mistake about it: if any one of you thinks of himself as wise, in the ordinary sense of the word, then he must learn to be a fool before he really can be wise. Why? Because the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God..." 1Cor3:18-23.

Catholics!!! A collection of fools, says the world. How else can one attempt an explanation for the faith in the Divinity of the Eucharist, nor can one explain the wisdom of the belief in the infallibility of the Pope. Haven't you marveled at the audacity of declaring someone a saint; and the church start to ask for the saint's intercession, or try to understand in the eyes of the world; the power of the confessional? Every body just de follow follow it seems. How many times have we heard certain people say "Am a Catholic but I don't believe in confession", or, "though I am a catholic, it's not everything the catholic church say that I agree", or again, " Even though the Church has said so and so, I am free to use my brain and have my own opinion about things". Oh you that thinketh thou art wise, see thou wisdom is foolishness before Wisdom himself.

Didn't peter have the knowledge of fishing? Didn't he work "hard all night long and caught nothing"? He would have said there's no need, but he became a fool and responded positively; when it was said to him '‘Put out into deep water and pay out your nets for a catch". Lk 5:1-11. Lo, he could not pull out the catch. When We hear "fishers of men", or the command "go...and make disciples of all nation", do we think of MOBJECTIVE dem, MariaGorreti dem, FrancisTony dem, bluerange dem, DeoGratias1 dem, frankysnow dem, etc, who rep Catholic everywhere, and never of ourselves? I am just a learner, a sinful one, you may say, but didn't peter say such thing..."Leave me, Lord; I am a sinful man" said he. Yet to him(peter) was said: "It was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you, but my father in heaven" Matt 16:17. God can work his miracle through you, that's why no matter how lowly you regard your self, some one may just be watching you. Therefore beware the way you live your life, you may be the only bible someone has the opportunity of reading in his lifetime.

"...On the contrary, we will have none of the reticence of those who are ashamed, no deceitfulness or watering down the word of God; but the way we commend ourselves to every human being with a conscience is by stating the truth openly in the sight of God..." 2Cor4:2

The Chameleon...it blends with it's environment...So are most of us these days, we blend with the world and no longer stand out. Isn't it funny how we just hide our light under the bed, just to "belong"? How many of us still associate ourselves with the blessed Crucifix, scapular, chaplet, Holy Pictures, etc, even the Sign of the cross. Hahahaha...we are more inclined now towards olive oil, for it makes us blend with others. The use of olive oil blessed by a priest is good, but that's not what we are talking about. What sources of grace we abandon just to blend with the world, yet when temptation calls, how easily do we fall. The ancient serpent...cunning from time immemorial, deceiving God's children from time.

Have we not stripped our walls of the holy pictures, while nudity continues to stay on them? Even in some churches, it's beginning to offend aesthetics to put up holy Images and Pictures. Limit it, limit it they cry...only if they knew.... We only live a lie; when we think these pornographic visuals do not corrupt the heart and mind...at least keep it from soaring high. In same way we live a lie; when we think the presence of holy pictures do not edify the heart and mind. Children are very receptive to pictures, adorn your homes with holy pictures and Images as a means of guiding them right "... when he grows old, he will not depart from it" Prov 22:6. From ages past to our present times, God has shown his willingness to assure of his presence via objects. From the wooden ark of the covenant to the bronze serpent, from the hem of His garment to the broken bread, from shadows of His apostles to the holy water of His priests, from the handkerchiefs that touched his servants to the relics of His saints, He has continued to assure of His presence.

A man was very fond of telling his friend, that giving any form of reverence to the image of the blessed virgin Mary or any of the saints, even the crucifix, was Idolatry and wrong. He said he'll destroy anyone he lays hands on. One day, he was visited by this his friend, who upon seeing in this man's album; a picture of his mother, brought it out. "Is this your mum", he said. "Yes", replied the man. "Is your mum still alive"? "No, she died when I was in school", he replied. His friend took a look at the picture, then coughed and spat on it. His friend's visit for that day, was terminated abruptly is all I can say, which of course was natural.

Lets pay no heed to the "reticence of those who are ashamed", that scapular on Stryktlimi's neck, that crucifix in kamsified's car, that alter in debbie's sitting room, that holy picture in Rich4God's bunk, and that holy water used by prettyspicey, must remain. For just like St. Gregory the great, who we remember today, let our lights shine in the midst of this darkness.

Mr. Aladin, I pray with you.

Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all.
