titoetal: I remember coming across a document about the German priest Martin Luther who started the first break away from the Catholic Church said this before his death and I quote "If I have served the Church the way I served the King (Henry VIII), I would have died a happy man"
I was discussing with one Pentecostal lady some years back and was surprised to note that many did not know the root of their church. They mistook the priest Martin Luther to the American crusader Martin Luther King Junior as being the founder of protestant.

My take is that most of this young commenters were born into the church they find themselves including novice Catholics and these groups failed to ask the question, where is the truth? and getting authentic answer.
Let the Love of God bind us together through Jesus Christ our Lord - Amen.

Happy weekend to all.
That statement though wasn't made by martin luther, but by Archbishop Wosley who helped king Henry VIII in forming the anglican church, but later lost favor in his sight. I however agree with the point you raised about our separated brethren. Amen to your prayers.

SalC: What is the significance of John living or preaching in the wilderness?

Prophet Isaiah foretold the forerunner of the messiah "as a voice crying in the wilderness" Isa 40:3

When John came, he made it clear: he was the voice of someone shouting in the wilderness. John 1:23

The scriptures also made it clear he preached in the desert of Judea. Matt 3:1-3

1)The question now is, why would John preach in the wilderness instead of doing so at the city gate or midst of people.

2)What is the significance of the food he eats in the wilderness . John 3:4

3)How can we as christians emulate John
1. Apart from fulfilling scriptures Is40:3, The wilderness to me may signify the state in which mankind found herself after the fall of adam to his time, just like the wilderness is in need of water to sustain life "Life will flourish wherever this water flows. ..." Ez47:9 , mankind was in need of Jesus who is life, "I am the way, the truth and the life" Jn14:6. Man away from his creator is in a wilderness, where he seeks to quench his thirst which God alone can quench.

2. Apart from being the type of food available to him in the wilderness, locusts could signify famine / hardship, associated in the old testament with God's punishment Ex10:14, while honey could signify plenty which is associated with God's blessing as said of the land of Israel in Deut31:20 . At a glance, the two states of bondage and deliverance.

As christians, I believe we could learn to do just what God has revealed through the church, christianity is not a place for experiment, John lived by the prophecy and focused on his mission, we should live by the church's teaching and focus on our mission, which is to know God, love Him, serve Him in this world, so as to be with Him in the next.

God bless you all, a splendid weekend to all.

vislabraye: My mother is alive so I can ask her to pray for me. If she were dead, I won't ask her to pray for me. Same as my pastor. Or abi do you ask your dead pastor or father (not necessarily biological father) to pray for you huh
Really?

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and
the life. He who believes in Me, though he
may die, he shall live. Jn 11:25

'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob.' So he is the God of
the living , not the dead." Matt 22:32

If Jesus said these people are living, why do you say they are dead, is Jesus lying?

booqee: Holy God forgive those sinners who blaspheme against You by calling Mary's name 100 times more than yours and even WORSHIP HER.

This is saddd.
Seriously, so God is now counting how many times we call his name in relation to another name, even his beloved handmaid? And where did you even get this number from sef, abi na lie you de lie.

Meanwhile, don't be sad dear, rejoice with us, its a day of joy and hope for us.

MrAladin: He wasn't sir.
He was advising the galatians to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in their way that are contrary to the teaching they have learned. So he was like telling them to keep away from such prophets.
When priests tell you same about these false preachers, they are doing same as st. Paul.

SeaGold: This is what I read;
According to Mathew: "is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? are not all his sisters with us? (Matthew 13:55-56) RSV

What happened at the crucifixion is confusing as there were several Marys present.

Do you still believe this bible was not doctored?
Now you read only a passage and get confused in the others abi?

There is nothing doctored in it. It is as clear as crystal. Jn19:25 actually called that mary "his mother's sister". See Matt 27:56. This makes those people Jesus cousins, little wonder they were referred to as his brothers in the passage you read, as they would have done in my own language.

kingphemy: Hi room.

Ain't a Catholic but in a serious relationship with one.

Are Catholics allowed to marry non Catholics?

What are the potential issues that can arise in such marriage?
Yes they are allowed under some conditions that will be agreed upon by the non catholic party.

1. The catholic must be allowed to practice his/her faith freely in the marriage.

2. The children from that union must be baptised and allowed to practise the catholic faith.

MrAladin: why did GOD created us and made himself to be complex? Why can't we see or touch himhuh?? why can't we understand his wayshuh or why is it that our pastors/priest always condemn other churches during their sermonhuh Remember the bible says "judge not so that we will not be judged" and whatsoever we bind on earth is bound in heaven but in our society today there is prejudice between our christians brothers and sisters because of difference in denomination. obviously this generation is going contrary to the teaching of christ
"I say again what we have said before: If
anyone preaches any other Good News ...
any other gospel unto you than what ye have
received, let him be anathema". Gal 1:9. Do you think Paul was judging?
