CareerRe: What Do You Really Love to Do? by syren: 8:55pm On Jul 27, 2008
I LOVE MUSIC, c'est ma passion. Nothing in this world compares to it. I don't see it as a profession, something I do freely, I play instruments, sing, write/record songs as I please.
My career is the complete opposite which is why I need the balance. grin

It's a gift. . . . . . . You don't need to know what he is giving you.
The surprise effect has to be there.
But atleast he should know what I like, that makes the gift even more special it'll show me that he's attentive. I mean anyone can give random gifts to you.

Put your self in a woman's shoes, she may get many gifts from admirers, but if you take time to find out what she likes, her favourite colour, brand/designer then that says a lot about you.

Hannibal:
Already??

You are more likely to love expensive things than cheap stuffs. . . . FACT!!! wink wink wink
FACT! As long as I actually want those things. I don't want expensive clothes that I wont wear, when there are things that i'd prefer. He's got to know what I like.

You spoilt our moment Hannibal angry

That's a big if but  undecided  agreed  grin

The gifts can be a bit of a distraction and you lose focus on the things that matter.

Nella:
like u said "little" gifts. -- ny guy can afford a small gift once in a while, whether broke or not. Besides wht matters is wht is behind d gift and not the gift it self.
So true, there are some gifts that are priceless but cost very little.

maybe your girls do. undecided  I've known guys that are broke and have made wonderful partners (not to me) only problem is the stress that comes with lack of finance, it eats away at the relationship  undecided

You know there is this line i constantly hear about good girls. That they always turn out to be the wildest once they first taste it.
I think we all have a wild side, some suppress it while others let is loose, it'll all come out eventually wink

Depends who is answering the question. Some say it is the girl who is reserved and doesn't associate herself with activities deemed as "wild"
I see, she's sensible cool

It works both ways. . . . .
I don't want to go out with a social butterfly with a heap of previous records too.
Can't stand it when everyone knows who and who and who a girl had been with in the last 12 months.
It can be very uncomfy. tongue

P.S. Bad boys don't like Bad girls. . . . .we want the good girls. wink wink
So your one of them, that's even worse, stick to your kind abeg  tongue

A girl with a backgroud/reputation and being social are two different things. we're not talking about previous relationships, I mean getting along with people. Think bigger.

Popular and reserved?? Are u sure?
Being popular means u are social with loads of friends and the out-going type. . .
Are u sure any sane man wants such a woman as his partner??
Very sure  grin I've been described as such. Popular may mean that to you, but it generally means well liked by people, loads of friends, perhaps undecided but you don't have to be a party animal, more like a social butterfly.  wink

It's a huge turn off. . . . .
Men prefer girls that are laid back, reserved and reticent.
She has to be reluctant to draw unnecessary attention to herself.
Really? I think that's your preference because that's not what I've seen. I don't mean the loud, attention seekers, I mean friendly, social. You can be popular and reserved at the same time. Trust me  wink

onyinye2:
don't mind these men. they don't know what they want.
Lol I can never understand them, myself  grin
RomanceRe: Why Do Girls Always Go For Bad Boys? by syren: 7:02pm On Jul 26, 2008
@ Hannibal

how is a woman being popular a turn off? I'm confused. If she gets on well with people surely that's better than a social outcast right?
RomanceRe: Why Do Girls Always Go For Bad Boys? by syren: 9:53am On Jul 26, 2008
I don't think you can categorize people this way. There are "bad guys" that are pretenders because they think it's what women want and there are "good guys" that aren't weak and boring, so you can't put them all in a box and say their all the same.

Bad guys are usually tough, dominating, protective, and, i must admit, more exciting, etc and women like those qualities, only problem is with those qualities often comes a disrespectful attitude and heartbreak which some (women) tend to ignore or believe they can avoid.

For me personally, it's all about being the alpha male or female. Girls like guys that are strong, masculine, popular, witty not the type to sit in a corner taking orders and can't be a leader. Same goes for guys they like the girl that's confident, popular, attractive, intelligent perhaps, and the list goes on but not the timid type with low self esteem. Now, having all the positive qualities doesn't mean you have to be "bad" whatever your definition of "bad" is.
I think there can be a balance.

THATS WHY EVERY SINGLE ONE OWE IT A DUTY TO THEIR CHILDREN UNBORN TO MAKE THE RIGHT MARRIAGE DECISIONS TO SAVE THE INNOCENT KIDS THE STIGMA AND THE MENTAL TORTURE THAT GOES WITH THIS KIND OF SITUATION
Very true, a lot of parents don't think about that, don't even care at times all they think about is how much they can't stand their partners and how to get as far away from them as possible. undecided Not only in marriage but outside of it too.

Really I was chatting up a lady and she was telling me she wanted to be this, that and that before she settles and It struck me that at 21 in Nigeria before u sort of attain all that dream many water would have passed under her bridge and I mercifully analyzed for her what she was trying to do for her future! i.e Marry Late if she gets to marry at all, a lot of heart break for duping boyfriends, and then get tabooed as being a sugar daddy's plaything!

Anyway I advised her to get a Man who will be in support of her dreams and aspirations now so she doesn't lose both ways i.e She gets 2 marry soon and still pursue her career!

I'd like to hear opinions in this line of reasoning

P.S
I'm totally for Women emancipation!
There's no reason why she can't have both I don't think she should put marriage on hold for a career. Maybe she isn't that keen to get married early. undecided

Always nice to hear from you tho, hope all is well  grin

@ topic
Come to think of it, the term "broken home" can be very disheartening for children to hear. It has a very nagative stigma and they know they're looked down on at times and automatically seen as dysfunctional and problematic, so they feel ashamed and negative emotions arise from that so I'd say it's both internal and external factors from the home and outside world.
