Now let's drill down since we are now using North and South. I keep telling you people from the North got it good. 1. Head of Police force - North 2. Head of Army - North 3. Navy - North 4, Air Force - North 5. Supreme Court - North 6, NNPC Board - North 7 Custom North I guess only the North has a monopoly on competent people |

Even when Shagari was elected in the 80s his VP was Ekwueme from South East. You parsing words jeez!!! Lumping South East, South-South with the South appears like you are dealing the cards underhanded. Different ethnicities. |

Ezeama400: At the bolded...I hate lies..
Your lies and propaganda can never be true despite repeating it million times..
Before Gowon became head of state in August 1966, Nigeria was a federation of
1) 4 semi-autonomous Regions 2) Each Region had resource control 3)Each Region kept 50% of whatever accrued within it, paid the Federal Government 25% and the rest 25% went into a General account that all the Regions including the Federal Government could use for developmental purpose. 4)Because the 4 Regions were semi-autonomous, it made the centre week and prevented any Region from dominating another
Today, we have
1)36 states that have little or no resource control 2) A powerful Federal government that now pays the states 3)Fiscal federalism is dead
How did we get here? It was Gowons promulgation of Decree 14 on the 27th of May 1967 that caused it all. It was this same decree that forced Ojukwu to declare the Eastern Region a seperate country called Biafra 3 days later and this led to the war. It should also be added that decree 14 was a violation of the Aburi agreement that both Gowon and Ojukwu signed in Ghana.
Decree 14, abolished the 4 Regions, replaced them with 12 states, took away resource control, reversed fiscal responsibility and made the federal government all powerful
It was seen for what it was by Ojukwu and the Eastern Region, a calculated attempt by Gowon and his Northern cohorts to dominate everyone.
Suddenly, the North that was one Region, had 6 states while the South that was 3 Regions had to share 6 states between them. This effectively made the North the dominant partner
Subsequent military administration's led by Northerners subdivided the 12 states Gowon created, and gave the North more states and local governments than the south
Today, the North that was one Region has overwhelming advantage over the South that was 3 Regions
1) The North has 19 states while the south has 17
2)Of the 109 Senators in Nigeria, the North has 59 while the south has 50
3) Of the 360 house of rep members, the North has 191 while the South has 169
4) Of the 774 Local Governments in Nigeria, the North has 419 while the South has 355
This undue advantage given to the North, starting with Gowons decree 14 which changed the structure of Nigeria, is what led to war and created the mess Nigeria is in today
Know your history.. Since the country divides up the revenue per local government, the North will always get the lion's share of the loot. The system has been rigged even Stevie Wonder can see through it |

How come chad or niger doesn't have the same population The North has been using those bogus POPULATION arguments for ages. That is why there are more local governments in the combined Kaduna and Kano states than the whole Six states in the South East combined. Since federal revenue gets divided based on the number of local governments you do the math. The Abokis got it good. |

Hightser: You want to learn Aws without knowing programming? Which company will employ you? Who will write the Json queries and functions to deploy the apps? Maybe there is another Aws or Gcp I don’t know.
Your problem is, you give excuse to suit your inability to focus, Just like every other profession, flutter and dart can’t be learned in a day, when you started, you should have given your self time, say six months, download courses on udemy and complement what your teacher is teacher you.
When I started learning, I used udemy and downloaded courses, I found it difficult to follow some tutors like max, l left his course and downloaded Angela yu, at some point during learning I paused and asked myself if I was really intelligent like I have always believed, I spent 2 weeks learning how to use row and column in same screen, but today, I look back and smile, those are really little things and not anywhere as complex and difficult as I thought, all I needed was time to grasp the concepts, syntax and all.
Get hold of your self and start now, stop procrastinating and jumping from one place to another. I discovered Json five years ago. It had made my life , and my web service calls better. I will never go back to XML wsdl. |

Be an expert on all facets of SQL language. That way if you decided you don't want to be a Programmer you can branch off into Database Administrator. SQL doesn't change much from one system to another. It's a 4 generation language, and easier to learn |

Baabu320: Good day Nairalanders
I am having career conflict and I need the guru on the platform to help me with their experience.
I tried learning python for data science in 2020 but on getting to machine learning I stopped because I hate calculation….
In January 2022, I enroll for flutter programming, but I couldn’t cope with the class cuz the teacher were teaching as if we are expert tho all other student are familiar with programming and has a solid background in JavaScript and other languages compare to me that I am totally new to programming, so I didn’t find it interesting.
Lately, I realize that I have interest in something physical that doesn’t involve programming, like networking (I am a cctv engineer) and hoping to take aws in the future. So I want to ask these in network field their experience, how easy is it in getting a job here in Nigeria and abroad?
What does the future and the market look like?
Comparing flutter programming (mobile app dev) to Network which one is better?
I have read enough on google but I want these in the field to give me hint from experience in any of the field
Thanks Personally to answer your question Programming. Software development is applicable across multiple platforms and industries. Instead of AWS why don't just take a course in web services. AWS methodology is proprietory focusing strictly on Amazon. Networking is fluid, getting a certificate on one domain of enterprises either Microsoft or Cisco. I have been a software developer for over 20 years and this pandemic has been a blessing for all independent consultants. Opportunities to work from home, and hourly rates are fantastic. The minimum you can make is six figures trust me. |

Jonathan figurehead? Go and find out those that dominated his government. Or may be he was figure head of Edwin Clarke, Tompolo, Oritsejafor, CAN, etc.
Chief of Army Staff Chief of Defence Staff CBN governor Minister of Finance Minister of Petroleum Head of Service SGF Etc Etc. Etc Etc.
But to pretend that Obj and Jonathan were not also mean is to be hypocritical. It's just so sad that Buhari is also being equally (or slightly less) mean in this regards because some of us had thought that he'll come and unite everyone.
But even the Obj that seems nationalistic, go and checkbhis service chiefs. Then come and post it here. By the way, you have deviated from proving that ONLY NORTHERNERS want the status quo, and you are on your own in the deviation. I'm not fooled with this deviation.
Which useless Navy command centre is in the north? Provide the address?
Go and find out if some major countries have not changed their capitals before. Find out their justification, then come back here and talk. Not this bear parlour assertions that you are making without any evidence beyond your own unwarranted suspicion
Again address the issue one by one, and not do into another new tangent like you have been doing, by introducing a fresh topic without finishing the one that you have opened. That is just abcheap dodging technique that is common with people who first make up their own conclusion before searching for evidence, rather than search for evidence to help them make up their minds objectively.
You think say na only small children dey nairaland abi? Never knew those people in BOLD were in Jonathan's administration? Let's compare apples to apples. Those people you mentioned were mere indigenes that just happened to be from the Johnathan geopolitical area. I wonder why only the SE region has never produced a President for Nigeria? Maybe that was by design or just a coincidence. Until you Northerners are made to see the light nothing will ever change in that country. |

MoIbrahim: You should first ask yourself, "why is it that it is only people from the south who think that only people from the North are happy with the way the country is constituted?" "Are they so dumb that they cannot remember that their heros Obasanjo and Jonathan happily retained the same status quo?" "Are they too dumb to realise that Obasanjo and Jonathan who maintained the same status quo are southerners like them?" "Then why are they dumb enough to keep thinking it is a North vs south thing?"
First ask yourself the above questions and answer yourself honestly. The answers will guide you, if you don't lie to yourself or try to systematically change the topic. By status quo you mean the followings 1. Head of Police force - North 2. Head of Army - North 3. Navy - North 4, Air Force - North 5. Supreme Court - North 6, NNPC Board - North 7 Custom North I think you getting my drift. Just that you are aware Obasanjo or Jonathan were mere figureheads. The real power in that country had always been in the North. When all the command centers for the army, air force, police, and Navy (Imagine navy in the North) are all in the North. I am still waiting for the justifications or rationale for moving the capitals from Lagos and spending billions of dollars to Abuja. The only rationale I have been able to come up with was to be closer to the North. You Northerners ain't that stupid, so long as the people in the south are always fighting among themselves why not exploit the division. |
