Whoever think yorubas should be friends to igbos because we are both down here in the south is out of his or her brain. They are worst than fulanis.

Such person should go and read about how azikiwe frustrated awo while he partner with the fulanis. I wonder if we were not in same south then. Nonsense and igbo.

All they want are people to surpress and dominate, once you don't give them that chance you are automatically an enemy who hates them. Nonsensical people.
@ bolded.......................GBOSA!!!

These mischievous souls will termed you an enemy and tribal bigot if you refused their juvenile attempt to lord it over you in your own region. They will claim you hate them and envious of their phantom achievements just 'cause you don't want them to pollute your land with their barbaric behaviour and uncouth mannerism.

This was the reason why they had the Sardunna killed in their Jan 15th coup simply 'cause the man was looking out for the interest of his people which of course, is inimical to their nefarious ambition and objective in the new nation.

Ditto Akintola, who exposed their hegemonic ambition on our region in his 1965 campaign speech to his people.

@ bolded.........that's their stock in trade! Greedy and covetous lot!!

Someone mentioned earlier about free education which awo provided for his region which sadly their own leader (Zik) could not afford them in their enclave. They all ran down to the west chanting "one Nigeria" but guess what? Barely a decade later & these guys dare to dominate us in our own region so much so that all our school of higher institutions were VCed by ibos and consequently staffed, too! Even the northerners that were educationally-challenged had a northerner VCing their region's uni.

They said it was all based on merit!!! At a time when the yorubas were very educationally competitive ( thanks to Awo's free education) and rumoured that almost every ekiti household holds at least, one Professor!

Even my ordinary Ijebu family already had 2 london trained lawyers, a civil Engineer and 2 medical doctors- all alumin of King's & Queen's College.

All these transpired in the 1st republic when the ibos were happily asslicking the fulanis backside despite the way the latter killed the former in 1945 and '53.

His ilk (unfortunately most of them are), were "classically conditioned" on a cocktail of bold-faced lies and misinformations by their morally-bankrupt, duplictious, cunny, covetous & greedy elders to mask their failure and in the process, heap all their woes on the yoruba-their nemesis.

One of them even opined that he prefers the fulanis (despite the way and manner these guy have always loved to slaughter them at the drop of a hat or a koran) to the yorubas "cause, according to the clone, the yorubas are not trustworthy!

You will be amazed at the number of "Likes" he got!!

Actually, i derive joy when i know that at the mere mention of Yoruba that these baboons are ready to run into the market raving and ranting like the little bitchees they are.
Abi o jare!!!

Imagine they even possess the temerity to keep wailing an' ballin', over half a century after the act, that the yorubas didn't allow them to impose their rule over them. They call it tribalism. But we all are aware that they wouldn't dare brooch the concept with the northerners probably 'cause they know from experience that the northerners would just be to happy to slaughter them with gusto.

Why would an ibo man-president of the first tribal organisation in the country, the Ibo State Union-want to be placed in charge of the affairs of the yorubas-his adversaries? Isn't that in itself, tribalism?

As for the election in question, Ojukwu lied as NCNC didn't win it, well not on paper, anyway. So there was no carpet-crossing, just the usual dirty propaganda employed by our ibo brothers to discredit and denigrate us.

However, the slimy mofo couldn't wait for the grass of biafra to join the war before hightailing it off, in the middle of the night-like a thief- with his favourite merc car and a ton weight of suitcases, presumably stuffed with remants of BOB-Bank of biafra- to slay oloshos in Abidjan whilst his hoodwinked "freedom fighters" and emotionally flawed folks are left to their fate.l

What do you mean? It's been a century since the first world war but it is still a very tropical and historical event amongst those it affected.

So is the second world war where over 50 million lives were lost by the allies in the quest for freedom.

As an Igbo man, I would rather fight for my freedom and sovereignty, even at the cost of 3 million lives, than to willingly become a educationy. In other words, you must defeat an Igbo man before making him a slave

But in the case of Yorubas, because everybody already knows they can never lift a finger to fight for their sovereignty, they are already slaves without a fight.
Ok, so you fought for your freedom, was soundly beaten, lost 3million souls and still remains a slave.

In a way, we did fought for our freedom at Ore- would rather stay as a part of Nigeria (with all its imperfection) than became a vassal state to Ojukwu's rag-tag secessionists-cum-landgrabbing forces.

There is nothing like preventing war when it comes to freedom. Its either you fight for your freedom and hope for the best or you become someone's slave.
Geez! Do you even read the BS , you wrote? Somehow i don't think so!

How the hell is it better for you ibos to fight for freedom, lose 3 million souls and still remain "someone's slave?

Half a century after the war, you guys still haven't fully recovered from its aftemath, phychologically, economically, culturally, emotionally and yet are still a slave!

For starters, ibos would be persona- no- grata in those regions.

Alo all your myriad phantom wealth in those regions will go up in smokeand you lot will have no choice than to carry whatever you can salvage ( a definite enactment of the prelude to the Biafran/civil/oil war) back to your improverished homeland- the same one you miserable souls ran away from to seek a better Social evonomic status (which is obviously unobtainable in your hamlets) among those you just love to hate.

Bottomline is, if the Yorubas and the North does go to war, you folks will be the greater losers but i reckon the bile you lot were infested with by your slimy elders wouldn't allow you to see the bigger picture.

you are absolutely right man. This was why they(azikiwe and bello) both rejected the secession clause. They saw the new nation as a way forward from their backwardness while awolowo who knew yorubas are already far ahead fear they might use their numbers to take over what the yorubas have built over time.

You are totally on point. They both have so much to gain with the new country as at then while yorubas have little or nothing to gain from it cuz everything was already in order buh look how we living now, those that wanted it so badly then now doesn't want anymore cuz it eventually didn't favour them while those that never care now doesn't still care till date. Let's just for the sake of argument assume that Zik and the Igbos wanted one united Nigeria and Awo and the Sarduana did not want this. Why then did they join Igbos in one united Nigeria? Why was it that Awo and Sarduana were against one Nigeria yet Awo led the Western Region delegates while Sarduana led the Northern delegation to London for the 1958 constitutional conference that ushered in independence in 1960? Or did Zik put a gun to their head and force them to be part of Nigeria?
Na who born zik to force the Sardunna into One Nigeria ? In fact, the deal was as long as the Sardunna gets the jltimate power rlse he was not prepated to be one with southern infidels. This was the reason why Dr. Zik willingly went into coalition euith the north only to be seconded to mete Grade II tea cher- the sardunna couldn't give a rat"s a.r.$e about nigeria hence why he sent his monion to lagos whilst he stayed behind to see to the interest of his people.

All of this is the nonsense the Lagos/Ibadan 'kpako' media have been spewing for years and has long been done away with. Every military regime in the world rules by decree, that's how they roll, Ironsi no exception. No matter how obnoxious anyone thinks decree 34 was, it was always a temporary thing that would have been jettisoned when democracy returned.

It is however amazing that people were angry and rioting because of decree 34 but when subsequent military governments, such as that of Gowon, enacted far worse decrees that balkanized Nigeria into 12 states, took away resource control and fiscal federation, the same people were very welcoming.

It then shows that decree 34 was not the problem, the problem was that it was an Igbo man who enacted it. Had Ironsi been a Northerner, they would not have found decree 34 so obnoxious.

Ojukwu was a long time firm believer in 'one Nigeria'. Despite the wholesale senseless killings of his people, Ojukwu still went to Aburi to discuss keeping Nigeria one. It was when the federal government of Gowon reneged on that agreement that Ojukwu realised that there was a blatant attempt by the Northerners to dominate everyone and declared Biafra to protect his people from 'Islamisation and Fulanization'

Point of correction, it was the federal government that fought Isaac Boro, not the government of Eastern Nigeria. The Nigerian military is under the control of the federal government.
Were we ever One? Hell no! Both Sardunna and Awo were vehemently against one Nigeria except you covetous folks. Zik and his people were the only ones singing the discordant song of "One Nigeria, One Africa. See ibo logic,,,,you went in there and murdered other regional leaders in the middle of the night, not sparing their wives as well then turned round and say we MUST be united ‘cause you guys have finally taken over the govt with guns we purchased for you to protect us from external forces. After killing our fathers, uncles and brothers you want to be in charge of our future.

Of course, northerners (most especially) rioted as they have made it known unequivocally that they do not want one Nigeria with you greedy folks but Ironsi went ahead regardless.

The north would not promulgate decree 34 as they were against the notion of one united nigeria.

The federal govt that fought Ojukwu was headed and controlled by northerners whilst the federal govt that fought Adaka boro was headed and also controlled by the ibos.

Stop talking nonsense. When Ironsi was in power there was no wholesale killing of people. The circumstances that informed Ojukwu's decision to declare the independence of his people were not manifest in 6 months Ironsi was in power

Your statement about Isaac Boro is hypocritical. There are many people who think that the federal government was right to fight Ojukwu for declaring secession. The same people now find issue with the federal Government fighting Adaka Boro for declaring the same thing! Why the hypocrisy? So it is Ojukwu that is good to fight but not Adaka Boro?

Get sense man nobody is a fool here
Of course, there was no killings when your homie was in power......yeye dey smell. When your homeboy unilaterally promulgate the obnoxious and gratuitous unification decree, there was riots in the north whereby many of kinsmen were slaughtered in protest.
Ojukwu didn't conceive biafra then o rather he was still a great believer in One nigeria however few months later oncw ironsi has been depatched to the great beyond, viola Ojukwu start seeing visions of biafra.

Abeg STFU! If it was okay for the federal govt of (eastern) nigeria to fight adaka boro for declaring secession THEN it ought to equally okay for the same federal govt of (Northern) Nigeria to squash Ojukwu's intransigence.
