Offa Rerun: Documents Reveal PDP Chairman Lied On Candidate Who Rejected His Victory

September 5, 2013News059

When Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for Shawo South West ward during the rerun election in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, Afolabi Olawole, rejected the victory alloted to him by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), the PDP leadership in the area was quick to disown him.

According to Goke Rabiu, PDP Chairman in Offa Local Government, Olawole had been dropped as the party candidate well before the election because he (Olawole) was not part of those who secured a court judgment for the rerun.

However, fresh documents in possession of thegazellenews.com has revealed that Goke Rabiu, and in extension, his party are liars.

According to the scanned documents, Olawole’s name was displayed as the PDP’s candidate for the ward in question and put on notice by KWASIEC prior to the election. In fact, on the list displayed by KWASIEC, Olawole’s name was listed on number six.

Apart from this, another document, the scanned court paper in which Olawole challenged the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Adefioye Kayode, in the previous election.

It was on the basis of this particular court case that Adefioye’s victory was nullified and a rerun was ordered.

In essence, the lies by Goke Rabiu that Olawole’s was not the party’s candidate and that he was not part of the group that challenged the victory of APC in law court fell flat in his face.

Nigerians in general and Kwarans in particular are waiting for more lies from the PDP leadership in Offa and Kwara State as a whole.
Individuals don't run for elections in Nigeria. Political parties does. If ALL legal requirements were fulfilled and PDP won the election, he can decide to repudiate his party's victory and refuse to be sworn in. His party will immediately shop for his replacement and nothing changes.
Guess you overlooked where the Chairman stated that "because he was not part of those who secured a court judgment for a rerun". He represented the party in the nullified election, so if he wasn't part of those who secured a court judgment for a rerun, it means PDP shouldn't have been included in the rerun.

Those huge Offshore/Onshore fields are exactly want previous leadas used to cully PATRONAGE from very powerful peeps like sm of those fighting d President. The kind of award that wud SHUT those thieves up and get them to 'cooperate' with him. GEJ has NOT given any of such to anybody, Nor has he revoked any such licence from those giving him lots of political troubles today like 'strong' OBJ did to Theophilus Danjuma. Got it??...... By d way, hope you know that the President by law have d Discretionary Powers. But then, that and d other things you raised, are not want am was focusing on
My good friend, some of those licenses issued were prospecting licenses(OPL) and the other OML not marginal fields farmed out or those operated and divested by IOC's except the case of Atlantic Energy Drilling and NDPC. It is OPL that becomes OML. I am sure you know what it takes to be awarded a prospecting license. The discretionary allocation of those licenses in Nigeria comes in form of patronage(cronies, political associates etc). I do know that the law gives the President discretionary powers to award oil licenses, but he personally said it will be done in a globally accepted standard, open and transparent way but most have been done secretly.
PoliticsRe: Offa LG Poll:olawole Was Not Our Candidate For The Rerun -PDP by takedat(m):
More lies and Moronic claims.

A) If he was not part of those who secured court judgment for a rerun, being the PDP candidate in the nullified election, why was PDP included in the ballot papers?

B) It is not unlawful to substitute the name of a candidate in a rerun election when he or she has not publicly renounced his membership of the party, suspended or expelled from the party. To claim that he wasn't PDP's candidate for the rerun is inadmissible. For the mere fact that the Chairman PDP Offa failed to give the name of the candidate who replaced him for that ward election is evident that it is a brazen-faced lie cool.

C) If we are to buy the empty excuse given by the Chairman PDP Offa, meaning that PDP did not contest for the councillorship election in that ward. So where did KWASIEC manufacture the votes recorded for PDP from huh?

D) Why did the State Electoral Commission claim that PDP won in that particular ward when the court did not include the PDP's candidate for the rerun election in that ward? Institutional incompetence huh?

Verdict: PDP in cahoot with KWASIEC rigged the elections cool.

I am definitely sure that you know this is untrue.

1) What of Iyabo Obasanjo's All Grace Energy? She got the juicy oil license in a discretional process without competitive bidding.

2) According to the Ribadu Report, 3 discretionary oil prospecting licenses were said to have been issued by Diezani with missing signature bonuses.

This administration is very far from being transparent and accountable in the case of the oil and gas sector.

A) Malabu oil controversy
B) Crude oil theft
C) Fuel subsidy scam
D) Atlantic Energy Drilling/Shell/NPDC versus Delta State host communities.
E) Lots of sweetheart oil deals to mention a few.

PoliticsRe: Lawyer Petitions INEC Over Ngige by takedat(m): 10:39am On Sep 04, 2013
eldoradoxx: The lawyer is actually right. APC is a new party and has no structure yet. Who is state party chairman and Exco of APC in Anambra? Who are the delegates that voted in the purported APC primaries? Who registered them as party members, when and how? Who determined how they became delegates? Where is the APC membership register? What of their membership cards? Did APC hold any ward/local government delegate election to select those to vote in the primary? Who are APC LG chairmen in Anambra ? What constitution guided the election? Was it approved by INEC ? These are questions that will determine whether Ngige was validly elected as APC candidate and not whether he won with over 60 thousand votes. How come a convention to elect Governorship candidate had up to about 65 thousand delegates? If the law requires the doing of a thing in a particular way, the procedure must strictly be followed as any derogation eventhough same purpose is achieved is still null and void and in this case, the mere fact that APC held what it called convention in which over 60 thousand persons voted Ngige does not cure the defect if all or majority of them ought not to be there or have no APC membership card nor even proper delegates to the election.
Hogwash! Are you trying to tell us that INEC did not observe the primary conducted by APC Anambra State Chapter or that the primary did not conform with the electoral guidelines? INEC observes party primaries, and INEC has not come to state that APC violated the electoral guidelines.

In the full report, it was stated clearly that APC did conduct primary in which Ngige won. The lawyer threatened to petition INEC on monday and a primary election duly observed by INEC was conducted that particular day.

PoliticsRe: Is The PDP Certificate Of Registration With Obasanjo, Atiku Or Lamido? by takedat(m): 7:56am On Sep 04, 2013
chukwudi44: Likewise PDP was formed by the G-34 led by Dr Alex Ekwueme,Solomon Lar was later to become the first National chairman. If the certificate has to be anywhere else other than the party heardquarters then it has to be withem and not Atiku who was merely gunning for the Adamawa Governorship.
I am less concerned with PDP's COR whereabouts. I am only interested in separating facts from fiction. Atiku-led PDM was an integral part and a power bloc in the G-34. I am yet to read any post on this board with proof to disprove that it wasn't Atiku who paid for the party's registration and headquarters.
PoliticsRe: Is The PDP Certificate Of Registration With Obasanjo, Atiku Or Lamido? by takedat(m): 7:28am On Sep 04, 2013
Maxymilliano: Junk journalism! PDP was formed by different political support and pressure groups across the length and breath of country, hence the party certificate cannot be said to be in the custody of individuals.

The party is not a one man show and that's why Almighty Obasanjo could not hold the party to ransome in his quest for third term.

The only certificate in Atiku's custody is that of the Action Congress (AC) which he bankrolled. His decision to hold on to the certificate as a bargaining chip was what necessitated the birth of ACN, and which signaled the end of his political romance with Tinubu ...
Bruv, I disagree with you. Even though the PDP was formed by different interest groups, OBJ ran the party like it was his fiefdom. It took the spirited efforts of certain individuals including Atiku to abort OBJ's self-serving third term ambition.

If the certificate of registration is not with an individual(s), should we then assume it is in the custody of some alien(s)?

If you find it plausible to believe that the certificate of registration of the then AC was with Atiku because he bankrolled the registration, why do you find it difficult to believe that PDP's certificate of registration is not with Atiku since you have nothing to disprove the claims that he paid for the registration and also the party's headquarters? If your argument is that there are other money bags in the PDP when the party was birthed, so were they in AC when it was formed.

So if a domestic aide of Jonathan suddey bolts with is INEC certificate of return for the presidential elections ,he suddenly becomes our president because of the possession of that document?
Certificate of Registration has only the party name on it, while a Certificate of Return has name of the party, name of the elected candidate and title/office.

chukwudi44: Bros the koko is to get recogniosed by INEC which Tukur has everyother thing is gilberish
Its hard to make sense of this. Is Tukur INEC, or does he possess the certificate of registration? Atiku was granted a waiver to contest the 2011 PDP primary few weeks to the scheduled primary election, that INEC had to request for a three months postponement for the election.

Short memory or limited attention span? Did Atiku not contest in the 2011 PDP Presidential primary? Atiku was granted waiver to contest against all odds and hurdles placed by OBJ, Nyako and other PDP bigwigs. Being able to get the waiver confirms that Atiku understands PDP and has leveraged on his political sagacity to win battles within the party.

This report was published on Sunday 21 July 2013, with the same headline: Arms stockpile: North prepares for war over 2015

It is likely @Op was one of those who called El-Rufai names when he claimed the Presidency's cavalier attitude towards crude oil theft was because NDeltans were exchanging crude oil for arms ahead of 2015 elections.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians May Kiss Goodbye To Free And Fair Elections by takedat(m): 1:48pm On Sep 03, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: Just to burst your bubble, when OBJ massively rigged elections between 1999 and 2007, what did you and your fellow noise maker do? You only made noise as usual and later sought refuge in the courts. When Yar Adua shamelessly rigged the Ekiti re-run in 2009 or so, what did you and your fellow noise makers do? Make noise as usual and sought refuge in the courts. When Lagos ACN massively rigged the 2011 Lagos local council polls, what the PDP do? Nothing besides going to court. PDP recently rigged the Kwara local council polls, what did APC do? Nothing, except noise and going to court.
The effective resolution of electoral disputes is central to the integrity of any electoral process. The right to challenge election results, or validity thereof, before a tribunal or the Regular courts is a remedy at law and part of the electoral process, so 'going to court' is no big deal. Even with your so-called 'Free and Fair elections' conducted by GEJ/JEGA, has it stopped the complaints of electoral malpractices and disputes?
