there is more to this news than meets the eye don't be deceived bro
Soludo's only saving grace is for his supporters in the party to protest, and that is if he has trusted allies amongst the party's leadership together with grassroot support. Obi and the leadership of APGA already have a game plan which is to pick/select Obi's anointed successor as the party's flagbearer. Soludo is not Obi's preferred candidate, Obi has his own person who have worked for him and has proven his competency. Another thing is that Obi would be afraid of losing his grip and influence on the party, he knows an independent-minded character like Soludo will hijack the party and wane his influence. |
If Anambrans stand by and allow this world class technocrat to be 'tricked' out of the APGA primaries (at the very least), then they shouldn't be surprised when they're eventually faced with mediocre visionless leadership and empty slogans of laying of solid foundations for the next incoming leadership......i can assure you that by then it would be too late, and other regions would have left us far behind!
Same world class technocrat was a candidate in the last election, with the backing of the former president he came a distant third. Academic excellence does not make one a good political administrator. All that is needed is one who is intelligent enough to govern, has the political will, and his disposition to the welfare of the people and the management of the resources to achieve that. People like that are many in numbers, its myopic to place the hopes and fate of Anambrarians on just one man. |
Eeya, what a shame. ![]() I give credit to the leadership of APGA. It is not wise to allow Soludo who just picked up the party's membership card less than two months ago, become the party's flagbearer when there are other qualified party members who have worked with Obi, persevered and helped to build the party to what it is are also jostling for the ticket. Secondly, Obi would prefer his loyalist, a stooge. Its all about the politics of self-preservation and relevance after office. A popular and independent-minded Soludo cannot guarantee him those. Soludo can pick up PDM's ticket since it is a new party. |

Shine u Eye: You're easily manipulated maybe you're naive. Lets assume you can use the internet, the least you could do would be to google this story to see how old/new it actually is.See who is calling another a schmuck. Below thread was created on the 19th of March. You are few months late. www.nairaland.com/1230600/bakare-speaks-apc-merger-party |
Obiagelli: You they mind them, expect more of these stories till 2015 and beyond. Thanks for pointing out thoughNa so sis. Thanks. |
Another proof that this government is unserious. The Ribadu Presidential Task Force report recommended that 'Automated Meters be fixed at oil terminals and wellheads'. The committee even took the initiative of contacting Schlumberger to install automated metering system in the Niger Delta, but we all know how government undermined and denigrated the report. Why because some top government officials are also involved in this 'organized, coordinated and systemic stealing of our natural resources'. |
This profligate, money-grubbing and hardly-literate woman is very much entrenching her influence way beyond moral and sensible standards. Those I pity the most are her praise-singers loaded like cattle in improvised tipper trucks and buses, who have sold their conscience yet live in penury. |
Recycling an old interview(21st March 2013), right? If anyone is confused, it is Pastor Tunde Bakare. After granting the interview, he was the one who moved the motion during CPC's national convention(10th May 2013), that CPC be formally dissolved and incorporated into APC. CPC dissolves into merger APC Festus Owete - 3 months agoNATIONAL, NEWS The Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, have formally been dissolved, and incorporated into the merger All Progressives Congress. The party was dissolved in a motion by 'TUNDE BAKARE' and seconded by Malami Abubakar, the party’s national legal adviser. The subsequent motion to incorporate CPC into APC was moved by Yahaya Ahman. It was seconded by Oscar Udoji and adopted. http://premiumtimesng.com/news/133745-cpc-dissolves-into-merger-apc.html Not forgetting that Pastor Tunde Bakare also said, Jonathan's destiny is to 'Bankrupt and Balkanize Nigeria'. www.nairaland.com/968457/jonathans-destiny-bankrupt-nigeria-bakare |
Why are my SE and SS brothers so angry. An overblown performance does not mean he isn't performing. Most state governors are non-performing governors. |
Her Holiness, Patience Jonathan, the Jesus Christ of Okrika is the de-facto Commander-in-Chief hence her over-indulgences and excesses in politics and State matters. The Armed forces have always had this sense of regime protection and has morphed into a desperate form of pocket protection, as against the protection of the people. The Armed Forces are political tools in the hands of desperate politicians. GEJ is merely deploying the same boring approach that was used by late Abacha. The latest charade and jamboree bears all the hallmarks of Abacha's self-succession drive. GEJ had better not wallow in self-deception and praises from self-seeking praise singers. |
taharqa: What d helll are you blabbling about, @take dat??Bruva mi, na wetin I do ![]() |
eGuerrilla: Political season of anomy.I dey tell you. ![]() |
Goddex: Are these CACOL people learners? How many years would it take to pay off the debts incurred by the PDP? 200 years? 'Blessed are the young, for they shall inherit the National Debt.' |
I respect 'Debo Adeniran's brand of activism, but if he feels the performance of LASG is overblown and sustained on propaganda that is his personal opinion. Lagosians are not diminished minds and airheads. If Fashola is overhyped, then the FG and other state governors are gross failures. |
This profligate, money-grubbing and hardly-literate woman is very much entrenching her influence way beyond moral and sensible standards. Those I pity the most are her praise-singers loaded like cattle in improvised tipper trucks and buses, who have sold their conscience, yet live in penury. "For the rest, since beneath the surface of the most Nigerian conflicts will be found inordinate greed for public resources, it is pertinent to remind ourselves that Oil is not the only marvel to emerge from the Delta swamps. There are also exotic creatures- mermaids, manatees, even mammy watas and hippopotami. However unlike crude oil which can be refined, you can extract a hippopotamus from the swamps, but you cannot take the swamp out of the hippopotamus."- Wole Soyinka |
Do not worry yourself ma. Majority of Nigerians deserve the leadership they get. The 'Confederacy of Dunces' motivated by clannish allegiance, tribal obsessions, myopic narrow-mindedness and culture of concordance will insist on the status quo even though many of them are disillusioned and despondent, groaning under the strangulating jackboots of poverty. They will come on this thread to castigate this woman, at the same time plastering a veneer of saintly infallibility and indispensability on GEJ. |
taharqa: And anybody is surprised by this?? For Goodness sake ACN and CPC, d 2 main parties of d Merger, are both COMMAND parties. ACN has Never (let me repeat- NEVER) conducted any Primary in its life- candidates are just IMPOSED from d top by Tinubu and a few Old men. Same thing with CPC, where General Buhari is Alpha and Omega. Top-Bottom Command Centre Approach all the way. Anybody that then believes that these same persons wud support decentralisation of Power from d 'Centre', from their Control is honestly Crazi. Shikena..Is the PDP in support of local government autonomy? Because majority of the party's senators kicked against granting financial autonomy to local government. |
Lugano: Nyako replied saying “you are saying Jang should step down, step down for what? Did he win the election? The Bone of Contention. |
mikeansy: The idea that folks are campaigning for a dysfunctional LGA is the guy of ridiculous political view you can only hear in Nigeria. The LGA is the closest government to the people for God's sake!Is the Presidency/FG ready to shed some of its powers? NO. The Senate voted against granting of financial autonomy to local councils, and the PDP controls the majority. The problem is with the general political class, fake federalism, imposed constitution and our diseased democracy. |
Its not just the APC Governors, almost all the Governors and the Senate have raised concerns against the granting of financial autonomy to local councils. I support local government autonomy and the cancellation of joint account. Their joint accounts have been an opportunity for state governors to hijack the fund belonging to local government. The disadvantage of granting local councils financial autonomy is that it will increase corruption at the grassroot level. I have no confidence in the ability of heads of local government councils to judiciously manage the funds that would be appropriated to them. Many of them, with the little fund at their disposal have proven to be inefficient and very corrupt. Many local councils will be teetering on the verge of near bankruptcy without the state government support. Some will cease to exist. Already, the National Union of Teachers(NUT) have rejected the calls for local government autonomy because teachers at the primary level would no longer be assured their salaries as at when due. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/appointments/129076-nut-threatens-strike-over-local-councils-autonomy- Nigeria is one of the very countries with 3 federating units. |
Even if the 2013 capital expenditure is jacked up to 50% of the entire budget, for as long as we keep having a below the par performance of the capital vote, the nations infrastructural deficit will continue to widen. The 2012 capital expenditure vote was 28.5% of the National budget, yet only 40% of the capital vote was utilized and out of the 40%, some would have gone into the private pocket of politicians, top civil servants and their cronies. Whereas recurrent budget which encompasses the overheads, payment of salaries and allied matters was implemented 100%. That means if N1trillion was appropriated for capital expenditure in the 2012 budget, only N400billion was spent/cash backed. How then do we expect any meaningful development? Few months to the end of the year, the 2013 budget implementation is still mired in crisis. |
PDP Will Rule Nigeria for 60years. The party has only expended 14 out of the 60years it planned to rule Nigeria. ![]() |
They should all take a hike to the Island of irrelevance. Failed political kleptocrats who did not offer Nigeria any tonic for greatness in their various stewardships in the past are resurfacing as Champions of democracy. |
OBJ bearing a placard of questionable patriotism. Is he not part of the unscrupulous elements and inglorious characters who ensured Nigeria's admittance into the halls of hardship. |
Afam4eva: I think this is in order since Obadare was also the former governor of Osun state before becoming a pastor? I'm i right? You have no idea who he is, yet you rushed to comment... Bebesco!!! |
No resources to meet the union demands, but resources are available to satisfy the greed and maintain the outrageous lifestyle of the ruling class. |
Maxymilliano: This are mere allegations that is yet to be proven, the onus is on the plaintiffs to prove the veracity of the claims as stated in the petition but seem some persons are hell bent on convicting the minister even before the probe commence ...Has the allegations of graft sponsored against Tinubu been proven? Yet, many on this forum through virtual trial have sentenced him to a life of public opprobrium. Who will sanction the charade, a red herring investigation if not her ever-protective corruption friendly boss? |
naijaking1: The minister of petroleum, like minister for FCT is reserved for those with born-to-rule mentality, not to talk of a southern woman. We all know there's a lot of raw cash to be made from oil, that's why 90% of billionares from Katsina thank the former chairman(Gen Buhari) of PTF for their wealth. Oh, this position belongs to Rilwanu Lukman? One of Diezani's paid griots and praise singers. You think your ethnic-orchestrated sugar coated demagoguery will make us overlook the several allegations of reckless roguery and monumental thievery leveled against her ? Has she ever been investigated and declared not guilty? You want to use the divisive North versus South dichotomy as your get out of jail free card? |
