@Op, i share your concern but optimism have no real grounds in Nigeria. We need no report for us to measure the level of abject poverty in Nigeria, our deplorable state of roads, corruption and maladministration of our government. The pessimism you noticed in Nigerians is simply a general public perception of how bad things are in the country. The "E go Better" syndrome is fast wearing out! |

solomon111: proof of tinubu's corruption?Na word of mouth alone you go take prosecute am? Or you will take this publication from the Will to court as an evidence? If you have concrete evidence to prove his ownership of those companies why not petition the EFCC. I'll be a big fan of yours if you can do that |
solomon111: But you won't advise caution if it was ACN making the accusation.Guy dont be an Airhead. I have not said Tinubu isnt corrupt but shouldnt you back up your allegations with facts like proof of ownership, records from CAC that he owns those companies. PDP controls the anti graft agency and all the establishments where facts/proof can be obtained, its their duty to nail him if those allegations are true except if its all falsehood |
Maxymilliano: But why trying to bring PDP into the picture even when there was no mention of the party in the original post? This news was reported and published by The Will, and if you must know, it was this same media that first came out with a COUNTER report to PM News story on the alleged arrest of the wife of the Oyo State governor in the UK. This much can be confirmed from the thread, so rather than coming up with unfounded theories, the story should be treated on its merit.Guy, PDP is the opposition party in Lagos and its their duty to checkmate the excesses of ACN. If there are not doing that it means they are either in support of what is going on or they believe most of these allegations are unfounded. I have no problem with the Will, i only advised to be cautious when seeking for the truth from most of these soft sell magazines or blogs |
Tinubu is as corrupt as every other politician in Nigeria but some of these soft sell online publication cannot be trusted, they only deal on gossips. If this story is true then why has PDP not petitioned the EFCC? It is not enough for PDP Lagos state to be waging news paper and online war with him and claiming he owns all these establishment. Let them approach the anti graft agency if these stories are true |
@Gbawe, abeg just cool down for these guys. 30 days is not far from now, we await to see the outcome |
"He said the development had againexposed the injustice against Ndigbo and their economic interest". Ibo's and their claim of being"Victimised" all the time. |
@OAM4J, we have the first chance of amending the current constitution, but Tinubu and his peep have been unusually silent on pushing for rregionalsm through the democratic process of amending the said constitution. Lip service alone is unacceptable. I would have been impressed if these people spent as much financial, media, and human resources as they spent on Ondo election, towards the application of pressures on NASS to ensure that rregionalism and federalism are adequately addressed. Unfortunately, what have is a response which will ensure that the status quo is maintained. This sir, is unforgettable.
Guy, Tinubu is not the mouthpiece of the SW. There are traditional institutions and pan yoruba groups who equally have a say in the affairs of the SW. Do not associate the mindset of the Yorubas with that of the Talakawas. The SW have always been in the fore front of regionalism and it still stays the same |
Katsumoto: I actually believe that Nigeria should devolve power from the center towards the regions but some folks managed to turn this into a region vs region issue. With the current composition of the NA, it is unlikely that a call for regionalism will scale through considering that the so called amendment will not be put to a referendum. The same Igbos who are here championing the call for regionalism where those who were against state police. Devolution of power and fiscal federalism are the best we can strive to achieve for now. |
Katsumoto: Ndigbo Should Get New State & Fulfillment Of Jonathan’s Promises First, Or… – Dr Dozie Ikedife, Ohaneze ChiefBros, I'll advice you not to dissipate your energy on some good for nothing dregs of humanity whose obsession with their superiors will only lead them to self destruction |
This obsession from outsiders with how the SW manages its affair is becoming worrisome. The Op in outlining his points took the ACN and its leaders as the sole mouthpiece for the SW whereas there are traditional institutions, pan yoruba groups such as Afenifere who all have a say in how the region should control its affairs. Constitutional amendment hearing is an on going process, that the SW is yet to make its proposal does not mean it won't. |
It shows how unserious these people are and how inconsequential the office of the President is to his own team. The protocol officers in the presidency are bunch of useless clowns, why are they just waking up to their responsibility |
It seems you have a personal vendetta against the SW. The constitutional amendment hearing is still on and so its to early to call what the next line of action is. Moreover, the SW believe more in a Sovereign National Conference than patronising a jamboree in the name of constitutional amendment which will possibly not yield the required result. Is it not surprising that same SE proposing Regionalism is also clamouring for additional state creation in their region? The SW don't play to the gallery unlike others |
Why do we have leaders who only pay lip service to corruption? This guy is one of the subsidy thieves with his company Spog Petrochemicals and another of his company Seven Energy was allocated oil blocs whereas its signature bonus is missing. Corrupt politicians, pastors and dubious business men are now proud owners of private jets while the populace are in abject poverty. We need a radical overhaul of our current leaders |
they are not Lagos state Government pensioners, its the FG that does their verification exercise at the Old Secretariat. Its a shame to serve diligently for 30 years and all you get in return is this hardship. May God help this country |
There is more to OBJ's utterances in recent time than meets the eye. OBJ is secretly plotting something |
R.I.P |
Where is this country heading to? What sort of "discussion" can be going in between alleged thieves and an anti graft commission? Why do we give concessions(administrative bail, release of passport to travel out of the country during a period of trial) to Big thieves and sponsors of terrorism, while a petty thief is sent to a Remand centre? Nigeria needs a radical overhaul of its current leaders |
Its so sad, the report is unofficially dead |
Anyone have an update on the contract with China and what is a memorandum of understanding? China Signs $23 Billion Oil Deal (3 New Refineries) With Nigeria https://www.nairaland.com/456265/china-signs-23-billion-oil On Jun 03, 2010 Source - http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19390 China has signed a $23 billion deal with the new government of Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria to build three oil refineries and a petrochemical plant. Goodluck Jonathan came to power on May 6 after the death of the former president, Umaru Yar’Adua. The new government declared that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with China State Construction Engineering Corporation on May 13. The three refineries are to be built in Lagos, the commercial capital, in Kebbi state in the remote northeast, and Bayelsa, Jonathan’s home state within the Niger Delta. The refineries would have a combined capacity of 900,000 barrels per day (bpd), double the expected domestic demand of 450,000 bpd by the time they are due to be completed in five years.
The update is still on the paper where the Memorandum of Understanding or Agreement was signed A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is a document describing a bilateral or multilateral agreement between parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action. |
taharqa: I dont know, you tell or explain to me. I actuali hv an open mind on dis issue, and am only interestd in d solutn.... By d way, d reason mostly given for the private investors not been able to build refineries (including d IOCs) who hv bn given licenses for more than 8 yrs is cos of d regulatd environment. But i wud want to hear alternatives thoughI do not know that was why I asked you, no pun intended. Even if the refineries are fully deregulated, government will still have to subsidise in the short run considering that investors will yearn for quick returns and profit maximisation on their investment. If government can allow private investors operate just for exportation while government owned refineries deal with local consumption provided government can get them to operate optimally. The 445000bpd FG and OPEC agreement is for Nigerians to benefit from their God given resource and that amount is enough to satisfy our needs. This is IMO, I may not be right though |
Cash and Carry abi na Highest Bidder |
taharqa: The US has 1500 refineries you say, but do you know that the US downstream is fully deregulatd and hv been so for a looong time? Do you think they wud hv that sucessful if they didnt hv a deregulatd economy? Can we ever be as successful if we still hv a regulatd one? QUESTIONS needing answers.... Sm good points you made thoughWhat happened to those private firms including state government licensed to build and operate refineries? Where are the greenfield refineries Diezani promised? In the pipeline I guess? Yes, we can be successful with regulated refineries for "local consumption" and deregulate those for "exportation" |
Guy na war for you oh! You even dey call the guy fool sef... I thought Sani Kaita was the guy that won us a red card during one of our world cup games against Greece? Never knew he is a PDP stalwart too..lol For the records, it is Lawal Kaita also said around March this year that Nigeria will divide if power does not come back to the NORTH. His primary constituency has never been in doubt. He flaunts his North first philosophy is all his interviews and is not a new face.
|
taharqa: Plz @take dat, for God's sake stop inputting things that arent there just cos u want to push yr viewpoint or agenda. The committee neva said that sm of the data/info they usd were inconclusive/unverified cos sm govt agencies stalld d findings, but they stated unambigiously in dat 'Disclaimer' letter that they didnt hv enough time to do their work (which is curious cos in leaking d report they gave d impression that d report was 'final', which was also frankly d DECEPTIVE word Ribadu usd when submitting d report which we now know to be false). This report that is even not saying more than we already knew: the oil industry has been inefficient, wasteful and corrupt for decades, and making Recommendations which are mostly already in d critical PIB bill presently in d NA, has been shamelessly POLITICIZE; and it is such a shame that many ppl hv playd alone.... By d way, talking about Agbakoba plz go to Punchonline to read an article about his views on d committee he servd in and what he thinks of its current politisatn; also in d same Punch, try reading anoda article by d ACN on how they are changing their original tone on d report and really realising that the Propaganda they initially pushd is failing. Anoda article yterday on The Nation also showd that d report actuali exoneratd NNPC from under-reporting crude oil sales in at least recent yrs (even though they are oda infractures d NNPC has been involvd in). I will post these 3 articles once I get a hold of my laptop..... The point really is that if we left d silly urge to politicize d report and focusd on real issues like finding out what really went wrong with d sector for decades and then trying to find a SOLUTION to it, we may hv been doing d sensible thing; we may start d Solution making by resolving to push d PIB bill tru d NA this time aroundI believe that the reason we are all interested is because this issue is germane to us all. I have not added anything that is not in the report or in the news. I earlier referred @frank c to pg30 or 31 of the report where the committee stated that they circularised all the stakeholders including IOC's and government officials but some refused to honour their invitation. They is no such as "Disclaimer Letter" in the report, that was an ambiguous word used by Okupe to bad mouth the report, the committee only added a clause to state that they were unable to independently verify some data given to them by stakeholders so the government was advised to Re-verify before issuing a white paper on the report. So how is the report inconclusive? Did you expect the committee to muddle up figures? Agbakoba only resonated this point that the government should re-verify and he never disagreed with any findings of the committee. This report is generating furore because the President being unsatisfied with the report has not thought it wise for almost 10 days to recall the committee and give them more time and support this time around. The president's media consultants especially Okupe and his ambiguous qualification of the report brings suspicion. I have told you before that the onus is on GEJ to lobby for the expeditious passage of the PIB and not us. He will be the one to claim the glory if it is passed and not the NA |
nija80: This where i dont understand Nigeria and Nigerians.NNPC is a player in both the upstream and downstream sector and not a regulator.Your post says NNPC official and your write-up says PPRA.NNPC is different from PPRA and vice versa.so if you want to blame anyone about fuel availability it is PPRA and DPR and not NNPC.As per the PPRA official,if its ever true,he is on his own,the problems are being tackled.it easy for you guys to stay on your sytem and write all sort of rubish about why and what is the cause of fuel scarcity.people are working their life away under very terrible condition to make sure these things are sorted out.life are been lost on a daily basis to vandals and briefcase middle men by this same NNPC that Nigerians think are not doing anything.problem they this country, what is on ground is more than NNPC we are need to fight it together. |
citizenisb: Despite concerted efforts of the Federal Government, through the military operations of the Joint Task Force (JTF), otherwise known as “Operation Pulo Shield,” in the heart of the Niger Delta, influential multi-billionaires, who, for decades, have been funding illegal oil bunkering and local refineries are scaling up their cartel to steal the nation’s crude and refined oil in the creeks of the South-SouthThe Commander in chief should be held responsible for that. With all the JTF's, Tompolo's security outfit and the outrageous money paid to him, we are yet to curb this embarrassing oil theft. Well I don't blame them because na their "oyel" and the President na their "pikin". |
Tinubu may be dubious in character but one cannot challenge his intelligence. |
The Aig committee did not black list all the importers, so why is the NNPC the one doing all the importation? Was it not because NNPC proved to be inefficient that was why private importers were licensed? Are all the refineries now in comatose? Why is DPR not doing its role of monitoring and sealing up gas stations who sell above the right price? Government is trying to frustrate Nigerians into accepting the full deregulation of the downstream sector even when they are yet to provide palliatives |
@ Gbawe, the committee itself was set up for grandstanding. Ribadu's committee did not discover anything strange which is not known to the government. NEITI acknowledged that the report followed the trend of previous reports such as theirs and KPMG's that are with the government. Why hasn't he acted on those one? The President is well aware of all the mismanagement in the oil and gas industry, at least he has appointed three GMD's to NNPC in less than four years and every GMD reports to him directly. The president just like past leaders are accomplice to all that is bad in NNPC. Why is the president still battling with crude oil theft? Are the oil thieves ghost? And yet the country loses at least 250000barrels to these oil thieves daily! |
The messengers are inconsequential but the message is quite clear and resounding. Nigeria needs a revolution! |
