taharqa: This is mighty wondaful of you, the way you just put common sense and logic on their heads. Dieziani was right- this was not a final report but a draft as dis letter from the same Ribadu shows since SOME of d data used were not reconciled nor independent verified. Here is what happend in terms of d problem: Ribadu (or someone from the committee) leaked the report to the press to give the impression that the Minister was sitting on the report and wanting to distort it, when the same Ribadu already askd the Minister to independently verify and reconcile the data and when people started to bad mouth the Minister on delaying the report for 2 weeks, the same Ribadu did not openly say that they were d people that askd her to so; this is for what of a stronger word plainly Deceitful. The link in the 2nd comment on this thread also suggests that d committee just usd the cost of the raw feed of gas stock as price at which NLNG sold gas oversees instead of the the cost of processd and transportd gas, and then simply passd d difference as part of d monies the country lost from NLNG (assuming this info from NLNG is correct).... By d way, could you point out where in d report that people where specifically indictd instead of just reinterating what we already knew: that the Oil industry has for decades been inefficiently and opaquely ran, thereby spuring corruptn and waste. Frankly, many of u guys didnt look at the recommendations of the committee (most of which are in d PIB bill currently in d National Assembly) but chose to just point fingers at people in a bid to somehow get at GEJ when d report findings has very little to do with himGuy this purported letter is the handiwork of some Government officials conspiring with their spin doctors in the media. I wonder why Diezani would have kept quiet all along even with the barrage of insults and some calling for her head if the content of the purported letter was true. This attempt is an after thought or some damage control. I asked why should a "Presidential Task Force" constituted to investigate the industry submit its findings to a ministry under investigation? Why did the Government set up a task force if its findings will have to be doctored and reconciled by the ministry? On the NLNG part you weren't expecting them to accept their wrongdoings. They will always come up with excuses. Lastly, if you have read the full report you will know that the report recommended reprimand for Government officials past and present who conspired with IOC's, traders etc to short change Nigeria. This last part was what caused the disaffection among the committee members. In a just society those people responsible for this colossal fraud(16 trillion) either past heads of state, ministers,GMD ought to be brought to book then I'll know GEJ intends to tackle corruption. |
I think some of you guys should just accept that you are not really after a corrupt free Nigeria or even a better Nigeria. You are just after President Jonathan for some reasons. Before now, you and Gbawe has posited that Orosanye and every other person calling for sanity has been compromised, including DAM just because they opined that process be followed. Now, a letter from the same Ribadu to the Minister has even recommended reconciliation and independent verification of the figures, the very same thing that DAM said that nearly got her crucified by you people. I agree with you anyway, that the petroleum sector should be restructured, but not to the advantage of the very people presently championing this anti Madueke/GEJ campaign. If you have really worked in a sensitive committee before, you will know that there are stages and independent verification of figures from the very people you are meant to reform is a key part. What Ribadu's report did from my understanding was just to gather inputs of NNPC, PPMC, etc and compile it and forward it to the Ministry while urging the Ministry headed by the same Mmadueke that you guys hated to conduct independent verification. How is that a report to be relied upon? Now you see why Orosanye said that the process is flawed. And also, if we trusted the Ribadus of this world to perform such a sensitive task and they omit the very heart of their assignment which is independent figure verification, I am afraid i have to agree with Orosanye that they should be man enough to tell the President that they are not ready with the report and the process as it were was flawed!! I strongly feel that if we have half as much information as most of our leaders have on their tables and desire to move this country forward, we will not be behaving differently from President Jonathan and his team. It takes maturity for DAM not to release this letter to the press when the campaign of calumny against her was at its peak.
I'll give no credence to the purported letter written by Ribadu to the minister unless Ribadu himself admits to it. Why should I trust a Diezani who earlier claimed that the report submitted to her a month before public knowledge was just a "Mere Draft" and the ministry would have to reconcile it only for us to know that the draft she claimed was the final report. This singular act of hers show she was trying to cover up something Why should a Presidential task force submit its findings to a ministry under investigation to verify and reconcile? Someone is being economical with the truth here. The deceptive motive of Orosanye and Otti together with their collaborators in govt is there for all to see. Is it with the nollywood script that was played out on friday where GEJ took part in the scenes when ordinarily protocol officers ought to have called Orosanye and Otti to order ? I an not against GEJ or whoever but its time we put a halt to grandstanding by a government who is aware of the rot and also benefiting from the rot in the oil and gas industry. If this is a lie, then I dare GEJ to prosecute those indicted for dereliction of their duty. Just like Ribadu said, the ball is now in his court. |
This is disheartening. May God help us in this country. |
No matter the excuses given by the ministry and nlng, Ribadu's report has come to stay. The inefficiencies and maladministration in the oil and gas industry was common knowledge to all even before the Ribadu committee was constituted. The report only gave us figures and how to plug the leakages in the industry and recommended reprimands to those who have benefited or stunted the growth of the industry. The reprimand is the reason why some are hell bent on frustrating his effort |
thelastPope: You people are not civilized i swear. You are thinking in reverse! Taking us back to the days of racial segregation. This is the height of backwardness. No one does ethnic profiling in civilized countries of the world again. Only in places like somalia and afghan will you see such things. Very sad!Its either you are being mischievous or ignorant cos his speech wasn't directed at any ethnic group neither was he segregating. Any who is not ready to conform with the law should stay back in his village. |
thelastPope: The stup1dity of the Fashola talk is that cities of the world are no longer developed along tribal lines and will never be anymore. Even the most conservative countries like china and iran are begining to open their borders to foreigners from all over the world to interact and participate in building those cities. No one is spewing this kind of tribal drivel anymore in the world. Fashola sounds like a guy from 1945. Tribal or racial profiling is in the dumps of history and am amazed that a so called enlithened lawyer is deep in it in 2012. How does he know which ethnic group is making lagos dirty or bad. Is he going to pursue the many Lagos indigenes in Mushin, Igando, Yaba, Ikorodu, Badagry and other places that are as dirty as can be? Where did he carry out the survey to find out if Lagos is being messed up by non lagos indigenes?Did Fashola mention any tribe? His statement was directed at all tribes including the Yoruba's. Should Fashola bear the burden of other state governments who has failed to develop their states? Quit being a jester |
thelastPope: GEJ makes a profound statement and all the ACN and CPC supporters flock on the thread to insult him and you wonder why Nigeria is really messed up? All you funny peeps posting on this thread and insulting GEJ are far worse than any elite out there. You have just shown that you are easy tools in the hands of these elites. You are the foot soldiers that the elite use to carry out their activitiesWhy do you always feel victimised whenever others have a contrary opinion to yours. How many Nigerians are card carrying members of political parties? Is GEJ not an elite so why should his foot soldier like yourself castigate others for saying the obvious truth |
shymexx: Old Lagos - keep my city clean!!Please keep posting those pictures. Those high rises weren't from proceeds of crude oil and look at how beautiful Lagos was then |
I actually think the migration of people from the East, South West and North to Lagos should be banned .... Stay in your villages, Lagos is teeming with all sorts already!!!!
Its funny why people assume if they don't get to Lagos their fortune won't change. This drift to Lagos is alarming. Just remember that Owo eko, eko lon gbe! |
Way to go Gov Fash. Nna's should find their bearing back to their villages. Please arrange BOLE KAJA's for them |
thelastPope: Keep defending evil. Their blood is on your heads. You are now enforcing okada ban with live ammunition and cold blooded murders. I can see that human life and human blood means nothing to you peeps. You feel you are killing chickens. You know absolutely nothing about life. You keep talking arrogantly like you can create or take life at will. You forget you are just a man. Just a man. Even the chest you are beating is not your own. Keep at it. The day of reckoning is coming!@losthope, I truly sympathise with the Okada rider but Did Fashola tell the police to shoot at Okada riders? Are the police answerable to him? Why not blame GEJ for all the accidental discharge and the extra judicial killings of the police since the IGP is answerable to him. Quit dishing out this your crass reasoning |
5columnist: if this is not an imaginative writing, then the country is turning into something else. How did the researcher get info off NNPC like it is a toilet paper. Quoting what a consultant is earning. I smell a northern agendaAre you trying to say that Southerners comfortable with Diezani's maladministration? |
formular123triol: Fashola @work....for crying out loud y must he ban dem when he didn't make alternative provision.I bet u,where dis issue is headin to,him power sef no go fit carry am.Quote:ACN is loosingout in d nxt barr election, jst keep ur fingers-XDon't be swayed by your weak emotion. Did anyone blame GEJ when an overzealous policeman shot a guy at Agege during the fuel subsidy protest? There is a law on ground either good or bad and the job of the police is to enforce it. Your blame should be directed to the IGP |
I believe the best way to judge the guys performance will be during the next election. The guy has still got time to prove cynics wrong and those claiming that Akala did a good job as the governor are being untruthful |
The IG and Commissioner of Police should call these overzealous police men to order. |
GEJ would never see anything wrong with this woman but competent hands like Nnaji are quickly disposed off. Maybe the rumour of her dalliance with GEJ is true then |
Nice move. Import waivers have been fraudulently abused in Nigeria. Government gives waiver to their cronies who will end up importing other things they didn't apply for |
Kola Aluko is a front for Diezani while Jide Omokore is a big crook and a kingpin amongst the cabal in the oil and gas industry |
If this materialise, it will be a dream come true. The SW needs a clear vision that will make us distinct from others. The focal point should be on Agriculture and Industrialisation of the region. Let's see more industrial avenues in states like Ekiti, Osun and Ondo state. This should be more than political party affiliation but a collective thing. God bless the people of O'dua |
pDude:Just felt if you had a contrary opinion you could have stated it nicely. Its all good bro! |
pDude:You must be crazy cos I don't see what my opinion has got to do with yours. Miserable opinionated bum |
jigawatts: RIBADU/FASHOLA ............ I've always said this and It wont changefew Nigerians will be offered a bribe of $15million and will reject it, for that is Ribadu for you and hardly will you come across a stickler for discipline like Fashola |
ochukoccna: ACN got it right regarding the intent of the PDP,Ebele and their probes this time[like many other times]Expect the Spin doctors (Okupe and Abati) to berate ACN on this. They will claim ACN is politicising the issue. |
He mostly stays in Kano where his new wife resides |
Billyonaire: Its time for technocrats to vie for Presidency. GEJ has set the stage and now we need technocrats to continue from where GEJ will stop. Boko Haram just confirmed that Buhari is their master terrorist. Tinubu is now hated on the street for his selfishness and greed. Atiku Abubakar is one hypocritic that 21st politics has exposed. Ribadu is dancing Azonto on the PDP dancehall. Who again ? Hell-Rufai, nah..He is mad on twitter. Oh, Bakare, how can I forget, he is a divine politician who has soiled his name for mixing religion and politics. As at this moment, there is no contender to GEJ. And how can I forget ? Aso Rock will never be vacant till 2019.And GEJ is despised for being a Wimp and lacking the gutsy to lead Nigeria to a glorious height |
Ole no go catch ole. |
akpumping7720: So should we now split or what? No. but since a lot of people have resigned to fate based on crass sentiment, it is safe to say that PDP will rule Nigeria for 60 years just like the former chairman of the party said. With the loot available at PDP's disposal one shouldn't be surprised if Nigeria ends up with a one party system except if the youths take up the gauntlet and wrestle Nigeria from them |
juman: There is credible opposition. That is the truth but Nigerians are so feeble in reasoning and blinded by sectional and religious bias. Guess its still the same game no team! |
The greatest enemy of Nigeria are Nigerians themselves. They is no dearth of capable and disciplined personalities in Nigeria but will we rally round such persons even if they contest on the platform of a weak or relatively unknown political party? |
gunuvi: After watching this video, I became so angry with who we elected as our President. If an ordinary civil servant can disrespect him like this, any minister can ask him to kneel down and put up his two hands tommorrow. Nigeria is irreparable.Don't be angry with GEJ. Orosanye acted in that manner in connivance with GEJ and Diezani. If Orosanye felt left out and that due process wasn't followed he would have voiced out his dissent to the President and in the media earlier before friday or would have waited till after the submission of the report. He practically chose to throw decorum to the dogs being aware that the press was present at the presentation. What is so special about Orosanye that he will be appointed on the Board of NNPC while still on the Board of CBN? Who's interest is Orosanye serving? GEJ's. |
Its a shame the way some people are celebrating corruption. This house was said to be a gift from setraco for helping them secure a contract. So much for bribery. |
GEJ is either a Wimp or a Schemer. Orosanye's reaction was clearly premedidated or else how will one describe his outburst in front of the President. His effrontery made it suspicious that he was planted on the committee to rubbish its report. Critics have always held the view that govt decided to set up the committee for grandstanding.Past and present govt have all benefited from this rot in the industry. That is where their slush fund comes from |
