Olaolufred: Living in Lagos is by choice.
Living in Maiduguri is also by choice.
I think since Lagos is not making itself conducive to some people through its new laws, Another choice could be made.
How about Yobe, Taraba etc?

Clemzy16: She died of child birth!! Only in Nigeria would women still lose their lives to childbirth in the 21st century.
Brother it is disheartening that we still witness lose of life during childbirth. It shows the dearth in our health care system. This could happen to our wives or sisters. May God heal this Nation!

Maxymilliano: Sometimes we need to separate the message from the messenger... Ows you bro?
Bros na so. GEJ is wasting precious time in getting the Orosanye's report implemented. We would have solved a larger part of Sanusi's concern if the report had been implemented!
Politics › Re: NLC Urges FG To Sack Sanusi As CBN Governor. by takedat(m): 5:16pm On Nov 29, 2012
Maxymilliano: It is becoming clearer by the day that the present crop of NLC leaders only believes in making noise just to be noticed without taking a pause to consider if it is on the right path or not, this was the same dude who claimed the NLC will ground the whole economy if total subsidy removal is effected as if the country have any other choice.

What Sanusi said was the home truth and nothing but the truth, how can the country make appreciable progress when 70 per cent of its earnings is used in paying salaries and entitlements of civil servants? How can proceeds from our major source of revenue be used to service recurrent expenditure by paying salaries and allowances when the country should be thinking of enhancing its productivity base?

Is the NLC president blind not to know that the high number of political office holders in all tiers of governments and their counterparts in the civil service are just like drain pipes with next-to-nothing contribution to the economy? How then can we continue to spend on things that cannot create wealth?

This is the import of Sanusi's message but which seems to be lost on NLC, a compact and less expensive system of government that will greatly reduce overhead cost is what the country need, especially at this time.
You simply stated my mind!

Before nko, GEJ is stealing his own share and so he has to cover up for his predecessors so that anyone who comes after him will have no reason to look into his loot. He said a similar thing on the Halliburton bribe scandal that it happened before his time so its going to be difficult to bring the perpetrators to book! Funny almost all the past heads of state belong or have links to PDP! Phee Dee Phee.....Steal the money"!

Politics › Re: Between Jonathan And Nnpc’s Criminal Kerosene Racketeering by takedat(m): 2:05pm On Nov 29, 2012
PointB: What made you think getting rid of subsidy is easy. If it were why hasn't it been done?

Without any iota of doubt, over 80 pct of the corruption in Nigeria is associated with oil money - via various subsidy regime. This corruption has been well kept in the wraps by past government. It's is mainly due to relative transparency in the current government that these things are coming to fore. It is also my opinion that arrest and prosecution is not going to serve as enough deterrence, it will only help make the criminals more careful in covering their acts, or perhaps more vicious in eliminating those who seek to stop them.

To reduce the sleaze, remove the causal agent - subsidy on petroleum product - completely. Half hearted attempts (partial removal) has never solved the problem in the past. It will only exacerbate it.
Guy, while I agree with you that corruption in the upstream sector preceded this govt but that of the downstream reached astronomical height during this era of GEJ. The call for total removal of subsidies has been on for years so it isn't surprising that GEJ is towing the line of his predecessors. How can you ascribe a toga of transparency to this govt when in reality the sleaze blossomed to a new dimension during its time to the extent that key govt officials openly contradicted themselves as to the actual quantity of product consumed yet monies were paid?
If your argument that the causal agent should be removed cos govt has proven itself to be inefficient, then all institutions enmeshed in corruption can as well be abrogated since corruption abound almost everywhere even if it involves the presidency!
Politics › Re: Between Jonathan And Nnpc’s Criminal Kerosene Racketeering by takedat(m): 1:21pm On Nov 29, 2012
PointB: Get rid of fuel subsidy, or keep whining forever!
You only seek for the easy way out without condemning the activities of government agencies involved in this fraudulent exercise. If budgetary allocation has been provided for the 9million litres per day consumption, shouldnt it raise concerns why NNPC the major importer of the product sells to airlines as against the real consumers of the product? Why has DPR remained toothless inspite of the huge monies allocated to it as the regulator of the industry? It is an indictment on govt for dereliction of their duty cos the agencies involved are govt controlled.
Politics › Re: Between Jonathan And Nnpc’s Criminal Kerosene Racketeering by takedat(m): 12:53pm On Nov 29, 2012
Thought the Yaradua administration gave a directive to NNPC and PPPRA to stop subsidising Kerosine since the product does not get to the consumer at the govt approved subsidise rate? This revelation was made known during the House of Rep probe and Diezani gave no convincing reason why the GEJ govt keeps subsidising when the anomaly is yet to be corrected by empowering the Inefficient DPR. All i can say is that Nigeria is unfortunate to have insincere leaders, the corruption in the petroleum industry is alarming becos the leaders meant to find find solutions are the main culprits and beneficiaries of the rot!
Politics › Re: Federal Govt, Stopped World Bank From Given More Loan To Lagos State Govt.. by takedat(m): 11:55pm On Nov 28, 2012
Maxymilliano: Methink there's more to this issue than the usual bickering over party affliation, indiscriminate borrowings among state governments is becoming excessive, and the burgeon external debt stock ain't encouraging either.

I believe BRF was only trying to be modest in his response, he knows where the crux lies. The FG too can't be faulted in this case, there is every need for caution, especially when the State debt profile is being factored into consideration.

But there is always a mid-point, and that's why the government need to come out with concrete debt servicing and repayment plan (both short and long term), so as not to plung the State further into needless debt.
Reason why the FG needs to come out and state in clear terms why it is reneging as a guarantor. If Lagos has a solid arrangement in repaying the loan and FG'S fear is borne out of the burgeoning external debt profile incured by all states and their viability of repayment, a middle ground should be reached since Lagos has accessed a part of the loan. We need to have an Open govt!
Politics › Re: Federal Govt, Stopped World Bank From Given More Loan To Lagos State Govt.. by takedat(m): 10:19pm On Nov 28, 2012
Tusky44: Fashola knows all too well he has lost it and now desperately needs easy cash to complete the projects he can use to shine on TV. I trust my sister Ngozi and this time she no gree. Tinubu can help Fashola convince the world bank this time. If he can't, they should call Aregbe rascal or even invoke Ogedengbe to help. cool
Seems you see this fiasco as an avenue to score cheap political point. If the loan is going to be well utilised with supervision from the FG, we should encourage it. This is no time for petty bickering over party affiliation!
Politics › Re: Federal Govt, Stopped World Bank From Given More Loan To Lagos State Govt.. by takedat(m): 9:32pm On Nov 28, 2012
Prof Corruption: Going to House of Representative is counter productive. They don't formulate policies for GEJ. What's important is the real reason the guarantee is being denied. If there is a good reason, as in bad performing loans, then it's justified. But if Lagos has been servicing existing loans diligently, then it's bad politics.
I agree with you. Guess the FG needs to explain why its opting out now.

eGuerrilla: You certainly have a great deal more confidence in the much touted merger than I do.

So I ask; what informs your view that these opposition parties - whose upper ranks are staffed by disgruntled cash-n-carry politicians previously aligned with other parties - are significantly different? On good conscience, please tell me what distinguishing characteristics you see in a motley crew, who have clearly failed to distinguish themselves by articulating any defining policy to date?

Why should the average voter care for the manifestos of these parties, when, in truth, most have no coherent ideology to speak off?
If truth be told I am not all that enthusiastic about it because it is still "same same" as you rightly said. My interest in the planned merger is the need for us to have an alternative national party to the PDP as opposed to the present regional parties. The actors still remain the same but with time these political parties will evolve when you and I get involved. The truth is many of us are lackadaisical when it comes to active political participation, we need to take up the gauntlet and wrestle control from this set of politicians.
We do not have the right structures for now but this will be a good start!

The next thing is for NNPC to demand from the FG to pay N1.13trillion owed in fuel import subsidies. Its their usual way of playing ping pong with accusations and counter accusations. Nothing will come out of this cos the accuser is also the beneficiary!
“Evil spirits” is only a metaphor. She was refering to those persons that are bent to perpetuate the corruption in the power sector thereby preventing improvement. Lol, yes they are evil spirits!
Even if it was meant to be a metaphor, is it not outright foolishness to say such in the presence of the so called Foreign investors. Reasons why others don't take us serious!

DJTee: Plus you think they care about sharehold[s][/s]ing interests? Lebanese companies play ball by helping them transfer launder funds to the middle east in the name of equipment acquisition.

Smell the coffee guys
The Chagoury's are known criminals right from the Abacha days. The same thing can also be said of JB! They have all improvised in the act of laundering monies for politicians. The EFCC needs to look into the books of these companies!
Politics › Re: Viewpoint: How Tribalism Stunts African Democracy by takedat(m):
This is a source of concern, Nigeria is a major case study on how tribal politics and ethnic jingoism have led to suspicion, backwardness and mediocrity. I agree with the Op cos the only time Nigeria felt a sense of unity was during the botched third republic. Reasons why I am in support of the planned merger of CPC, ACN and ANPP. It will give room for healthy competition, sustenance of our nascent democracy with strong political values and with time we will attain the maturity where each party will be recognised with her own ideology!
Oga you need to take a basic course in Business Admin. Your ignorance in this matter is disgraceful.

@ Uncle Gbawe, why the vicious attack? Since you cannot prove that Tinubu is not a major shareholder in the said company, stop making a fool of yourself by claiming that the authors of the OP's article are wrong. You are beginning to sound like a Tinubu groupie. This is unlike the Gbawe of old. Abi you don get post for ACN ni?
Such a crass reasoning. What does mastering business admin got to do with you seeking for information from the CAC since you are trying to form an arbiter between Gbawe's and the Op over the ownership of Hitech.
People who cannot provide us with a list of the major shareholders of this Hitech company and are telling us with all their might that Tinubu is not one of them, are just as dishonest, to say the least, as the authors of this article.

This is a separate issue as to whether the contract followed due process or not.
Why not do us the favour by contacting the CAC, that way we will all be able to ascertain if Tinubu is a shareholder of HiTech or not. From @Gbawe's post it is obvious that the company was registered in 1988 when Tinubu had not sprang into prominence!
