Being convicted as a cultist in Bayelsa state carries a 10 years imprisonment sentence although a competent lawyer can get them off the hook under wrongful accusation, the most they should have been charged with is disturbing the peace. I have always said that our educational system is flawed and there is too much emphasis on paper qualifications, how many people can a state or the fg realistically absorb into its workforce ? Small and medium scale industries are the way to go in serious minded countries. If you think I'm lying, ask Japan & China how they made it. The simple truth is aside from your degrees and other qualification, technical & vocational training should be the next and most important item on the agenda. |
donsax: Lazy beyesian, all they want is free money and recognition.....now they will be added to ex militant for amnesty...you're just a tiny fo0l |

Many Nigerians especially on nairaland think that access to the internet automatically make them expert Naija political analysts. Unfortunately, most of you guys are operating under "herd mentality" and therefore you see those with different views as targets to be insulted both tribal and intellectually. |
Pa Adesanya insisted that one of us who suffered should be governor so that he could rehabilitate others. Now this is a classic, Tinubu was "selected" as governorship aspirant in 1999 to REHABILITATE his friends with STATE resources. The ideal mark of a "progressive" No be me talk am o |
Instead of you id/ots to find out what your state governors/lg chairmen & assembly members are doing with the monthly allocation collected from the federation accounts + IGR, your here blaming the president because you have toothache. Nigerians are really funny people sha, make una dey there dey wait for impeachment till you grow beards on your teeth. |
Is it the LASG deporting them or the Lagos state command of the Nigerian immigration service ? There should be a clarification of roles. By the way I thought these BH thugs were commiting only "minor" offences and therefore deserved "amnesty". Why our govt dey deport them na ? |
Nigerians are generally a sad lot, they'll only be happy when negative news is written. Or generates from the country. If una like, no go hustle. |
lorretta u: and because of that,it should continue?pls don't speak what u don't knw.in rivers state where I am,there r no toilets.ppl go to the river side,u have no idea hw polluted this place is.plust the refinery waste surrounding us every inch, the air is thick with nauseating odor.so goodluck be him the first or last should take care of it.PRESIDENT that's what he is.what r u defending?mtcheeeeeeeewis it port harcourt in Rivers state that doesn't have toilets or your village ? Don't come here lying about something you know aboslutely nothing about. If you have no toilet in your house then go to UST round about at mile 3 to buy toilet materials, there are different types there. LIEnus |
I find it hard to take a two bit journalist seriously but no one can deny the fact that things are difficult in the country right now. Its extremely unfair to blame a relatively new administration for over 40 yrs of misrule and mismanagement but does that completely absolve this administration of blame ? I wouldn't say so but at the same time we should realize who to actually hold responsible. I believe and I have always said that it is the job of the central govt to formulate and implement policies for the betterment of a country. These policies are to boil down to the constituent states/regions & lg's but what do we have in Nigeria ? Most state governors refuse to discharge their duties, many so called "working" governors award contracts to their cronies and we are therefore left with substandard projects if at all completed like the airforce junction bridge in ph which collapsed after barely 7 years of construction, state govs stifling the funds of lg chairmen and thereby stunting the growth of lga's across the country. We should ask ourselves who is really guilty of ineptitude ? Is it the president whose job is just to formulate policies or the governors/lg chairmen/councillors whose job it is to implement these policies so they impact directly on the ordinary Nigerian ? We are now in a dire strait where 8 and possibly more of the corrupt PDP governors are plotting to decamp to the only viable option we could have had in the APC one of their reasons being that the EFCC has their case files. The CIA said some years back that Nigeria would/might disintegrate before 2015, its possible this reporter was planted to sow a seed of discord into the mindset of Nigerians with his article but I urge everyone to pray and work hard for our country to reach the great height we are destined to attain. PEACE |
This is great news, I always find it funny when otherwise educated people complain that the govt hasn't provided jobs for them. The fed govt can only employ a certain amount of people in its civil service which is already over bloated in Nigeria. The job of any responsible govt is to make the business environment friendly/conducive for investors both foreign and local. When the investors come in, then surely the multiplier effects will trickle down to the masses in the form of jobs both directly and indirectly. We have to understand one thing though, a country that imports things as ordinary as matches and toothpicks is sure to have a disturbing unemployment problem. We have to learn to manufacture goods for ourselves which will boost the economy and not depend or call on the govt to provide jobs. |
By the way, how can I take these people seriously if one of their grieviances is that they are about to be hounded by the efcc ? If u no thief public money, stay and defend yourselves you asz#olez. APC ko, AQZ ni |
If a carpenter relocates from another village, will he start work in the new village as a welder ? I laugh at the ignorant naivety of some respondents on this thread but it is really quite sad and there is absolutely no justification for the progressives to be tainted with the bad blood of scoundrels. Common logic if its applied will not allow me or anybody who uses his brains to take these APC dudes seriously especially if they allow these governors into their fold. Its just the same old s#it with a different name. |
Hehehhe I dey laff, APC absorbing PDP s#it all their crimes forgiven, looted funds overlooked. Politicians can never deceive me no matter if they paint the word "progressives" on their forehead. A rogue will always be a rogue. Oya carry go, 2015 we dey wait. |
olufunmibi: Well for me it just happened that I've never read any of Chinua Achebe's books, my elderly sibblings did, because it was the fad in their days, but history effectively told us that he is a great literary icon,he was a strategist during the biafran war, he received national honours and turned some down, and he wrote a book "there was a country" at age 81 or so which reignited generation old animosity, hatred, and disaffection between the Yorubas and the Igbos.the book is a time bomb, it has a potential to cause carnage and bloodshed in the future, if the wound of ethnic hatred remained festering and fungating. For me, I regret that that book was written in the twilight of his life, it has not helped national unity, it has made us hate ourselves more. I read with disgust what people, the Igbos, write on this forum about my Patriach,Obafemi Awolowo. Never mind. It is what it is. You, your children, your Grand children will spend Naira, that name Naira, our Collective Monetary Identity as Nigerian was coined by Obafemi Awolowo, and please always remember to collect your N100 Change, that is Awo in your pocket. It is what it is! Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, best University in Nigeria, is Awo's Brainchild, he was the Chancellor, it is what it is. If you are great, You are Great, it is just what it is! By the way I commiserate with you my Igbo compatriots on your loss, may God keep raising great men and men who foster peace and not divison among you. And may you one day again have a great leader, who you can all rally around, who can be your guiding light and lead your race to the greatness you always aspire to, not just people writing books causing fight among children on the internet. Accept my condolences.as you were reading with disgust what the igbo people wrote about the late chief Awolowo, did you by any chance notice that it was your yoruba compatriots who started the tribal mudslingings on this thread ? Let's call a spade a spade & I would like you to go to the first page of this thread and see who started these tribal rantings then immediately the igbos respond, they are instantly called bigots. I'm neither yoruba or igbo but na wetin I see I dey yarn. ![]() |
thelastPope: You are very funny. His hatred for GEJ is because of GEJ's tribe. You still dont get it. The whole hatred is because the north wants the power back, nothing else. GEJ is very very far from being incompetent. Can you name any past president in Nigeria that made the progress GEJ has made in their first 2 years? Power, Rails, Airport, Elections, FOI, Agriculture, Almajiri schools? I challenge you. Not even their much worshiped Fashola can come close. Their godfather Buhari did nothing in 20months as president. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Gradually, they are showing their real frustrations. Didnt you hear Tinubu calling terrorism of BH a minor crime? Open your ears and mind broI was only taking him up according to his post but sometimes I laugh at Nigerians although in sadness. This is a country where at every given opportunity, everyone is automatically a doctor, pharmacist, football coach, professor etc but yet people still fail to use their brains. A president's job I believe is to lay out policies for the entire nation, what the ordinary masses have to do including our resident nairaland gangsters is to make sure the governance closer to them is working effectively and by this I mean their respective state governors, assembly members and local govt representatives. Once the governance is felt closer to home, then the people will definitely be happy. How does a president force state governors to utilize funds disbursed to them from the federation account as allocation ? The problem now is at the state and local govt levels not at the federal level as people think. |
I believe all religeons and tribes preach respect for the dead, but its quite unfortunate that people who claim to be adequately trained at home by their parents do not have even a bit of respect for a dead man or his legacy despite the obvious fact that no one in their lineage both past and future will ever be as legendary as the late prof Achebe. Its also very obvious that many of the commentators here haven't read most of the late prof's books talk less of his last one "There was a country". If relevant social critics with emphasis on those from Nigeria have applauded the genius of this man, who are these nairaland gangsters to insult this great man ? As a social critic, it is/was up to the govt of the day to take him/her (Achebe in this case) up on thetopics touched, the job of a social critic is to cause soul searching amongst a government/people in other to engender change. The relevant question should have been what have succesive governments done with the criticisms and advices given by Achebe and the present set of social critics like Dele Momodu (his column Pendulum in ThisDay newspapers) ? |
John Pepper Clark, Chinua Achebe & Wole Soyinka in 1986. All literary icons devoid of tribalism unlike some people here on this thread. |
We all know the most tribalistic and bigoted group in this country but they are the ones who blame others the most for these same things. I dey laff dem |
I can understand the hatred shymexx has for GEJ but to insult an entire tribe is entirely unpardonable. Please @ OP, focus your rantings at the president and leave innocent people who are still suffering deprivation and underdevelopment under this administration out of your unwarranted hatred. I guess you'll get hopping mad if someone wishes total anihilation of your ethnic group and you should know by now that you or your tribe does not have any monopoly on the entity called Nigeria, everybody is hurting not only you. |
ichidodo: Occupational hazard of being a phsycophant. RIP.you're just a razz fo0l |
eggheaders: has much as I agree with your submission. the c-in-c still has loads of questions to answer has we both agree.the eye brow anyone will be raising in the covert killing of bh sponsors can easily be that dealt with since there ain't prove of government involvement.in all this the president just really need to grow some balls and stop turning up our military personnel as body bags.but irrespective the carrot and sword method is still the best bet for now.since most prominent northerns are coming up for the dialouge thing.i just pray the carnage stops in earnest.my brother we all pray for peace, let's just hope these politicians decide to grow a concience before the elections come up and the ones in power learn to lead us aright. |
tomakint: Wao your mastery of activities in the espionage world is very rich and insightful, I have to agree with you that events happening on the pages of our dailies and other news media are totally diffferent from what goes on within the government cycle! At leisure you may consider buying and reading this book, you gonna love it; Conspiracy: Plots, Lies and Cover Ups by Richard M. Bennettthanx for the compliments bro, I'll be sure to look for the book on my way back from work |
in other news, R.I.P Prof Chinua Achebe... |
$m$ eggheaders: so he is cool with innocent people been killed for political reasons.why can't he use the yassar arafat method in taking out this sponsors covertly without anyone noticing.since from your submission the boko thing is a pdp thing why can't he as the party leader put his people in order.and seek the help of somebody like obj that knows how to cut deal with Northerners.then he can still work with the traditional rulers instead of calling their bluff.I can't honestly know if he's cool with the deaths of innocent Nigerians or not, the mind set of the average Nigerian politician is different from that of an average Nigerian, they quarrel and hurl insults at each other in the open then wine and dine together in private. The Yasser Arafat method has been in use by succesive regimes in Nigeria, the most notable being the murder of Chief M.K.O Abiola which doctors attributed to cardiac arrest but nobody was fooled by that diagnosis and al Mustapha later confirmed during the Oputa panel report or one of his court cases that Abiola was actually poisoned. One thing I want you to understand is these BH sponsors are very heavy weights in Nigerias political landscape and they are not just tied to the PDP, they are across all political parties, the first one dropped might not cause any upheaval but by the time it gets to the second and third, the backlash is better imagined than experienced. There are people who openly promised to make this country ungovernable for GEJ and they are only playing out their script. This morning on AIT during their newspaper review, it was said 9 BH members were arrested in Lagos with various arms and ammunition. If 9 were caught, how many are still out there and how fast can they be rounded up before they unleash mayhem ? When these sponsors are arrested, are we sure there won't be violent riots ? The British & Greek govt acknowledged the killing of the 7 setraco staff by BH, this proves that there are sattelite images with pinpointed locations of these terror camps, can our govt muster the will to send air raids to these locations ? There's a lot of questions that need to be answered but unfortunately I am not GEJ since he is in the best position to answer these questions. |
eggheaders: thanks for the info.don't you gej is to be blame.arrest all the sponsors take our fighter jets to their hideouts and level the place.why do you think the bh thing will backfire next year.since gej is not ready to act as a man the crisis will still lingers on.I see this problem in two ways, either GEJ can't arrest the sponsors because of the ethnic and religeous backlash that will fall out bearing in mind that the sponsors are very important & influential members of the northern society. Arresting them now could just spark off another civil war which Nigeria will not survive because there will be retaliatory killings and it won't just stop at the ibos who are the usual victims but can extend to the yorubas & other ethnic groups. Once it affects the yorubas, you can be sure they will retaliate no questions asked thereby encouraging other tribes to do the same. The second scenario that could be playing out is that he's just containing the BH wahala now, taking out the foot soldiers with the aid of the JTF while biding his time against 2015 elections when he will play his joker & start arresting the sponsors who mostly happen to be his main opposition especially within the PDP and the BH will be the ones to cause their problems because I predict a carnage worse than the Kano bombings which will generate outrage across the nation, spurring the president seemingly into action thereby leading to the arrest of these sponsors and henchmen, I said this with the niger delta militants and I'll say it again, BH can be wiped out within a fortnight. The president and all the affected governors know these people and when the president solves this BH wahala within a year, you will see that people will swing their votes towards him out of sympathy because of the obvious bullying he has been receiving from northern political heavyweights. |
eggheaders: since you know better you can help us with what we don't know.how has there infiltration reduce the attack??just please shar more light on your claims.infiltration by secret service personel has 2 main purposes, to gather information about the targets and to co ordinate strikes from within. I can authoritatively tell you that GEJ has the names of all BH sponsors & most if not all their main camps & training grounds. We should stop under rating our security operatives especially because of the shenanigans of some of our corrupt police officers. I've met an SS officer who had undergone foreign training working as a shoe shiner in the course of his duty. This is aside the topic, GEJ has said BH is even within his cabinet, he knows them, the question we should ask is why isn't he working on the intelligence gathered by our security operatives ? We also can't say the JTF isn't working because there are many things they can't explain/expose about their operations to ordinary civilians except those at the theatre of war who witness the carnage first hand. My deduction ? This BH wahala will turn round to bite their sponsors next year giving GEJ a smooth sailing to Aso Rock come 2015, a pity innocent blood is being spilled in the name of politics. |
acidtalk: Oh no! What has this Charly boy don to his entire family?chukwudelu or Chukwudifu ? Please stop destroying peoples name because you have access to cheap internet. |
Fvckheads saying they don't need David Mark for president because he was once a soldier but they believe Buhari is the best option for Naija. I wonder if Buhari was a carpenter or brick layer before. Silly people think they can deceive us with their own ideology claiming they are the only saints in this country. |
eggheaders: in saner climes.terrorism is countered by infiltrating the ranks of the terrorist and other professional counter insurgenency moves.like Britain for example moderates are empowered to counter the inbreeding of terrorist idealogy and giving information on suspicious member of the muslim community. but here Nigeria we tag all northern and Muslims boko haram.even government is not ready to listen the elders of the north.you have to get there cooperation and trust if you are really serious in tackling this issue.but here you have a government that uses only the sword method.whereas countering them involves using the sword and the carrot. you may ask why usa still remains a pal of Pakistan even when they know they harbour Osama and covertly empowers terrorist .cause they need a friend to clamp down on peeps in wazaristan and Afghanistan.you will just sit down in one cornertyping anything that enters your minute brain. Who told you our sss & dmi haven't infiltrated the boko haram & ansaru terror networks ? You just like scratching your balls and pointing out that our security network is failing. The question you should ask is if GEJ is implementing the advice of our security agencies and if not why ? |
Dee60: Is anyone still agitating for 'resource control' in Niger-Delta since the amnesty? Who really does not want to be educated? Sanusi, our current CBN Governor is from an islamic background, and is even an islamic scholar, yet he has all his degrees. FG has to find a way to reach out to the down-trodden in the north, who are so prone to joining BH. Of course, they have to work with the 'educated leaders' of the north who will act as models for change. Go to Saudi, Iran, UAE and see how islamists are embracing change. Government people should stop stealing money and start to mobilise funds for mass education of all Nigerians. That is the long term solution.and who told you niger deltans have stopped agitating for resource control just because of amnesty ? Pls stop coming to nairaland chating what you know exactly nothing about, better stick to the "innocent" boko haram members you seem to know a lot about. |
“For the innocent ones among them, there must be amnesty." Mr Bola Tinubu How can you possibly forgive innocent people or grant them amnesty for crimes they did not commit ? This issue of amnesty is quite relative, some people come on here comparing the niger delta militants with these BH extremists when they can't even point a niger delta state on the map and many so called activists (internet) have never been to a Niger delta state. The militants down south never blew up bus stations or randomly killed innocent people on the streets of yenagoa or port harcourt, they stated their problems with the federal govt and oil co's, targeting mostly oil instalations and workers to press home their demands. If you go to 8/10 niger delta interior villages, you will weep and understand why these boys took up arms. When you feed a nation almost single handedly, you definitely deserve a better deal. The BH on the other hand have never come out with a clear cut reason for their grievance. We have heard them say GEJ should convert to islam and resign before the carnage will stop, we have also heard them say the entire northern Nigeria should be converted to an islamic state not considering the christian "minorities" in that region. We have heard them complain that their reason for fighting is because their ex leader was killed while in police custody (during the regime of the late Yar'Adua). And just last week in the news Shekau their new leader was complaining about the unjustified killing of their "armed" followers by the JTF. It is pertinent for the BH extremists to come out with one voice and say THIS is why we are fighting and THIS is what will make us stop, I earlier said the issue of amnesty is quite relative. The niger delta militants know there's crude oil in their domain and know that in saner climes, crude oil brings development to any region where it is found (eg Dubai). There is no niger delta capital talk less of state that is as beautiful as Abuja but the money used to build that city came from down south. So I can say the nd militants had a right to fight and had to be forgiven by the fg before another Ken Saro-Wiwa springs up and causes another problem/embarrasment to the FG. It is only left now for the people to fight their governors/LG chairmen to implement dev elopmental projects instead of being the criminals they (political leaders) are. Which money does the BH want the FG to use in paying them amnesty assuming the FG agrees to that demand ? Is it the already over stretched budget being already spent on fuel subsidy payment and the frivolous lifestyles of our lawmakers ? Or is it the oil found in the niger delta that will fund this new wahala ? GEJ knows the solution to this problem, the question is does he have the balls to solve it before it envelopes this nation ? The SSS has given him a detailed list of BH sponsors, let him order their arrest and detailed strikes on training camps and I promise you within a week, highest 2 wks and BH will be history. I have a reason why I didn't vote for him in 2011 and it has manifested. PEACE |
