@olabowale, I was expecting you to furnish us with information about this 12th Imam, but you have gone off on a tangent. Please share this knoweldge about the Imam that you are told to seek always. |
My advice. If you are planning any financial investment in any business in the U.S., check the business out first at better Business Bureau www.bbb.com. Chances are that a reputable company will be registered with them, and if there are any complaints about the company, you will likely find details on the website as well. You will even find info about Nigerian 419ers on the site. |
@hnd_holder, Don't you feel you are making an accusation that you cannot back up with proofs? Or do you feel that what you say is right irrepsective if you are accurate about it or not. You have accused me of something I deny and you are telling me to prove to you that I am guilty. Doesn't that put a strain on logic to you? |
So are you saying the virgins too are a part of it? |
@TV01, It is by way of compromise that I even mentioned that EFCC should be allowed to spread its tentacles to the church. Really, the only way they should be allowed in is if a prior investigation leads them to a particular church. They should not be allowed in to start such investigation from the church. For instance, it was recently discovered that a big Hotel lost some money to an accountant who happens to have given a huge chunk of that money to Christ Embassy. Such a discovery could rightly bring EFCC into Christ Embassy to find out what exactly is going on. While you have quoted legitimate scriptures with respect to the Church being subject to the laws of the State, may I also bring to your remembrance that Paul frowned at the church going to the State (judge) for the purpose of judging between right and wrong. So where is the balance? Let's discuss this as we go along. |
What about the virgins? Where do they come in? |
@Hnd_holder, Can you show me where I initiated the name-calling? |
Talking about the bar-beach. The last time I was there, I noticed Julius Berger was dredging sand from the bottom of the beach to be dumped at the shore. I want to believe that was a temporary measure before a real solution is put in place. But for this overflowing to have re-occured, it appears that what should have been a temporary palliative was left permanently. The Lagos beach is one of the most active in the world. This is in the sense that the undercurrents are very fierce and turbulent. This is why the sand is easily eroded back into the sea. What needs to be done, is put up a barrier (a levee) that cannot be easily eroded by the under-current. Natural stones and boulders readily come to mind. A lot of these should be placed at the shore and spread out deep into the sea. Once this is done, we can then fill up the crevices and the top with sand to make the beach a good place for past-time and tourists-friendly. This is an expensive proposition, but with the income potential that the beach is capable off, I should think it is the only viable alternative for the Government. Besides, lives are at stake, and we just have to do something about it. Is anyone aware what the outcome is of the muscle-flexing between the Lagos and Federal Govevernment over who should be responsible for the Beach? |
Well, I know the area well because I used to work with AIM Consultants. Now does cool link own cool fm or vice versa? Anyway, the same guy - Amin Mousalli owns AIM Consultants. Are you in touch with any of the Architects or Engineers with AIM. I might still have some Paddies there. Looks like a small world doesnt it? |
@yemmidavid, You must be kidding. Etim Inyang Crescent is way off the Bar Beach. Cool fm is on Etime Inyang Crescent and I just can't imagine the beach overflowing to that point without an attendant loss of lives. You are kidding right? |
yemmydavid, Hope the bar beach gist is no rumour too. |
@babadee, Plan to be on iya oshoronga's next menu? ![]() |
@babyosisi, I have been quite busy my sister. My office is usually very busy at this time of year preparing for field work the following year. Also, I think I have spent more time in the politics section recently. Thanks for asking. I miss you too. |
@princezino, Thanks for your input which is quite productive. In one of my transportation classes back in the days, I remember the introduction to a textbook which I read. The author began by saying that engineers have come to design roadways in such a way as to eliminate accidents totally. He however said one major factor still remains which can make all other factors of non effect - MAN. In other words, man is unpredictable and no matter what you do to prevent accidents, the factor called MAN will find away to beat you at your scholarship. While we expect the Government to ensure a regular maintenace to prevent compromising the structural integrity of the bridge, I find it difficult to believe that the present dredging of the river poses an immediate threat to its structural stability. The bridge by all indication is supported on piles which could go up to 100m or more in depth depending on the nature of the bedrock. The only way this could fail now is if it is exposed enough for it to be either hit my a vessel or perhaps buckle over its unsupported length. In the latter case, I doubt if the dredging has been that bad to make this situation a possible reality. |
@babyosisi, For your information, they have started having crusades as well. What do you think they do now on Lagos-Ibadan Express way? Like Martin Luther King said: "Satan is an ape of God". In other words, all he does is imitate what God has done. We see examples of this throughout the scriptures. For example, the anti-christ will rise up from the dead on the third day, he will disguise himself as a man of peace and will attempt to rule all nations as Jesus will. I also remember a long time ago while still back in Naija, I happened to tune the T.V to a channel showing a muslim programme. The programme got under way by an attempt to eulogise the "glorious koran", and you wont believe they copied word for word the introduction to the Bible printed on the front pages of the Gideon Bible. That just made me puke. |
What will they be probing for? Money laundering, corruption ? This needs to be defined first. |
Hey guys & girls,av gone tru al your replies, that of an engineer and those of other occupation.Wel my question for the engineers is that Did those who built the 3rd mainland take into consideration that cars of such immense weigh wil stand stil on it at the same time?Note the brigde was built on a principle cald upthrust which means nt al d bars are torchn d ground. For d vibration no big deal al brigdes are built to vibrate but when the upthrust is exceeded please imagine(am not trying to scare here)I suppose you are talking about uplift and not upthrust! Upthrust (as I believe you mean) can not happen in Naija because we do not have a freezing ground condition caused by very low temperature (i.e. ice/snow). I can assure you that the structural integrity of that bridge cannot be compromised the way you fear it will. All loading conditions must have been taken into consideration during the design. Besides, a huge factor of safety must have been used as in all construction. I suppose a compounding of the factors on the loads and the structural capacity of the materials used will surely make the bridge more than structurally sound for many years to come. My fear however is not on the superstructure but on the foundation. If indeed the foundation is being eroded away, then we might have a problem indeed. However, failure of a foundation will cause a load redistribution to other foundations till a structural member is either overloaded or the entire foundation fails. If that happens, we will not witness the entire brifge falling down. Only the overstressed section will collapse. Engineers are smart enough to design the structure in sections independent of each other. That way if a section fails, it will not bring the others down. |
@Hugoboi, You need to bring your proofs and stop jumping to conslusions that we see no basis for. The only proof binding on anyone on this thread must be based solely on biblical authority. Remeber, this is not a science fiction section. |
I am really interested in hearing more about this topic. I have heard about this 12 Imam thing before but I do not have enough information on it. Anyone out there with more information should please share it. In addition to coolstuff4real's submission, the president of iran's final statement at the speech delivered at the UN goes something like this: "Dear Friends and Colleagues, From the beginning of time, humanity has longed for the day when justice, peace, equality and compassion envelop the world. All of us can contribute to the establishment of such a world. When that day comes, the ultimate promise of all Divine religions will be fulfilled with the emergence of a perfect human being who is heir to all prophets and pious men. He will lead the world to justice and absolute peace. "O mighty Lord, I pray to you to hasten the emergence of your last repository, the promised one, that perfect and pure human being, the one that will fill this world with justice and peace." Seeing stuffs like this makes me think a lot of folks are just so naive when they say that the middle-eastern problems is caused solely by injustice and not deep-seated in religion. |
@winteric, There are also some pertinent verses in other Epistles, and the message of Scripture to Christians is that because of the finished work of Jesus Christ, we do not live under the Mosaic Law, during which tithing was instituted and commanded as part of the Law. Therefore, tithing as a commandment of God has no relevance to believers today. You just don't get it do you? Tithing predates the law. It was brought into the law to keep alive a practice of faith that we first witnessed in the father of faith - Abraham. Abraham wasn't under the law but knew he should pay his tithe once he saw a priest - melchizedek. I chose to rest on this topic since babyosisi made an excellent input, but it seems some will not just let it rest. Please note that I never insulted anyone on this thread. The one who first came on board with sarcasm was Hnd_holder, whom I have discovered from other threads as well isn't so much bothered with what the Bible says, but would rather go by tradition. Then you came on board with a total declaration of war against my person for choosing to stand in opposition to others with respect to the payment of tithe. Anyway, since you are the one who declared war, I am glad you have also chosen to end this one-sided assault. By the way, I am not a Pastor and I do not have a calling into any of the five-fold ministry. I am one who believes in the Bible and tries with the strength of God's Spirit in me to live by faith founded on the scriptures. There is nothing I have said here that I do not practice, and I have being immensely blessed through it. Much of what I have shared are not things I learnt from anyone, but what I have come to understand form my personal study. I do not disregard other's points, but I just feel that they have been narrow minded. I am aware of all they say and have learnt from their inputs, but it still does not annul the revelation about tithing. That is my take. |
Some other evidence that the earth was not created the way we find it revealed in Genesis 1 can be found in Isaiah 45:18: For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. The Hebrew word translated VAIN here in Isaiah is the same word used in Genesis 1:2 as WITHOUT FORM. The Hebrew word is transliterated as TOHUW. The word expresses a chaotic state, a state of emptiness, nothiness, wasteland or wilderness. In other words, God did not create the earth to be what we first see it to be in Genesis chapter 1. The earth became TOHUW, and it was in this state that the Spirit of God entered into the scene as revealed in Genesis Chapter 1. So how did the earth get to this state? We'll find answers to that in the Book of Ezekiel and Isaiah. I'll delve into this subsequently. |
@Hugoboi, I do not know how you come about your conclusion that the pre-adamic earth was called Atlantis. Neither do I understand how all these is tied to re-incarnation. Infact, the Bible is clear to the fact that there is no such thing as re-incarnation. @lafile, The fallen angels are not the ones I refer to as the inhabitants of the earth. The fallen angels were free to roam the earth until the times of Noah when God now had to bind them up in chains of darkness (under the earth) in a place called Tatarus. This became necessary because they were trying to disrupt God's plan of salvation by sleeping with women and producing a half-angel, half-humanity race contrary to God's plan. Angels cannot be saved, but man can be saved. Producing these mixed race was contrary to God's plan and the children produced through these union are the ones the Bible refered to as Giants who were said to roam the earth during the times of Noah. This explains why God just had to destroy the world as we know it then, and spare the family of Noah to begin the work of salvation all over again. To avoid the angel-man pollution from ever happening again, God had to tie up the other angels (except Lucifer himself) in Tatarus. You will find the references to these in Genesis 6, 2 Peter 2:4-5 and Jude 1:6 |
There was indeed a pre-adamic world, and the evidence is available in the Bible. Personally, I believe the beings we know as demons today were the inhabitants of the earth in that period. I think I can point out evidences that point to this conclusion from the scriptures. |
@Flex06, I think we need the best and the most honest and people-loving hands to take over the administration of Nigeria. It doesn't matter if such hands are Christian or Muslim clerics. As someone have rightly said before, you only need to have watched the last presidential debate to appreciate the worth and ability of Okotie. IBB, though an evil genius, acknowledges that Okotie is the best amongst the new breed of politicians he sees around. He acknowledges the guy's astute knowledge and leadership skills, and he believes people like Okotie are necessary to move Nigeira forward, without neglecting the experiences of the old guards like himself. Clergy or not, Okotie has proved his worth, and my money and vote will go to him ahead of any of the people vying for that office right now. All we need now is a compassionate leader of human and material resources and our nation will be on the road to greatness again. |
@Flex06, You have not answered my question. But in any case, how did you come to the conclusion that faith and politics do not mix? Do you know Jesus is coming back on His second advent to become both a Political and Spiritual Leader in Jerusalem? |
@flex06, What is politcs, and why should a Man of God be exempted from practicing politics? |
@Revolution, Try not to take things too seriously. And did I tell you that the generators refused to work one of the nights I was there? We had to stay out and start a bonfire to while away the time. And are you aware that the Ranch is run on Generators 24/7? Though this may have changed but there is always a rationing of power because of limited gas to run the Gens. Now I'm not trying to paint the place black, because it is indeed a lovely place that'll encourage people to visit, but the reality is that in Naija, anything can happen. About the flying of Airplane, believe me, I do not intend to step into any Airplane in Naija ever again. I lost a family member in one of the recent plane crashes and I remember my experiences in some of the planes. Because there are different operators does not mean that it is not run by a Nigerian mangagement and staff. Expatriates are not there 24/7 to run their business, it is run solely and mangaged by Nigerians. Don't let your zeal overide your sense of judgemnet my friend. |
Kai! God forbid bad thing. You will not find me inside that cable car! Coming down from Obudu Ranch after my 1 week vacation, the "new" bus that conveyed us to the air-field suddenly had a flat tire on our way down the hill. Guess what happened next? There was no spare tire and a jack in the bus to change out the flat one. Just assume that kind of error in a cable car, mid-air ![]() |
So was that the truth? If not, what is it? |
@Odeku et al, What does it take to rule Nigeria? |
@Afam, You have shown you have absolutely nothing to contribute on this forum. I have said before, and I say again that you are nothing but a hypocritical low-lifer. Davidylan accepted the fact that he made a mistake (on another thread by the way), and all you can do is gloat about it. That shows how immature you are in your thinking and mannerism. As for my academic credentials, you can only dream about it. I had the third best result in the federation at my first and only sitting of SSCE. Another student from my school was second. This should tell you the quality of the school. But of course, what would I expect someone like you to know. These are the kind of results you get in your dreams. I will not even bother bickering with you anymore about your glaring stupidity on the world wide web. It will be a waste of time and energy. It's been said before, others on your side of the fence are able to disagree without being disagreable, but that is just too much for you to do. A man who lacks character and has no principles to live by cannot be expected to behave in a civil manner even on the world wide web. Your hypocrisy just screams through all your posts, and I have being too magnanimous to expect something better from you. You have not tabled any reasonable points to address the issues raised on this thread, but true to your character, you have embarked on a quest to bash the U.S. and everyone who points out your folly. Your ignorance sure matches your pride. |
@Nutter, I hope it is not the price of gari that is getting you worked up so. An hungry man they say, ![]() |
