Misogynist quotes
1 Timothy 2:12 - "I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet."
Leviticus 15:20 : "And everything on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean. Everything also on which she sits shall be unclean
Exodus 21:7-11 7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do.
Nowhere in the Bible was slavery condemned. None. Pro slavery quotes Exodus 21:20-21 20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property
1 Timothy 6:1-2 1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare of their slaves. These are the things you are to teach and insist on
Titus 2:9-10 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive
Ephesians 6:5 5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ
Colossians 3:22 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord
1 Timothy 6:1 1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered
1 Peter 2:18 18 Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
Your Bible even said to kill homosexuals. In as much as I dislike homosexuality, I won't let hands on them. But your all loving god, said to kill them.
I could go on all day, but if we were to abide by your Bible, we would be homophobic murderers Like I told you, slavery was a universal practice at the time. There was nothing wrong with it. God reveals himself to men according to the times. If you have read these verses a thousand years ago, they would have been perfectly ok to you. Why would you use the same measure to judge people who existed thousands of years ago. The commandments and revelations of God have always met the needs of the times. |

litigator: I have often wondered if forgiveness is real.
I am not unmindful of the New Testament injunction that asked that we forgive our offenders 70 x 70 times.
I am also not unmindful of the passage wherein we were admonished to ensure we don’t harbor unforgiveness in our heart when approaching the alter for prayers, thanksgiving and supplications.
Thus bringing me to understand that we must learn to forgive no matter what and regardless of the circumstances cos we are all sinners.
But I do not seem to understand why Apostle Peter was forgiven for denying Jesus Christ three time and Judas Iscariot wasn’t forgiven for leading the mob to arrest Jesus in the garden.
Weren’t they all fulfilling the scriptures as it was foretold?
Why did the Apostle decide not to forgive Judas but replace him.
Do you think was against the teachings on forgiveness?
Kindly educate my ignorance.
Shalom A few things here, how did you come about the fact that he was not forgiven? Do you forget that he killed himself? Again if you assume that he was not forgiven because he was replaced, that means you don't understand the meaning of forgiveness and where it comes in. So if you have 3 daughters and you notice that one does not cook tasty soups, would you still keep her as the house cook or would you give the position to the better cook? This has nothing to do with forgiveness |

Homosexuality is a sin so even if it's becoming trending does not make it right. Again God made man the head of the family and Gave women their roles. I understand this is no longer trendy but it is still right. Also, slavery was practiced in bible times all over the world. Yet, it was bible believing Christians that challenged and ultimately ended slavery. The bible is about progress. We learn that God does not reveal all his truths at once. So don't expect the bible to cover all topics. The works and revelations of God continues even after the bible. |

So why are churches getting bad rep? No be by force to give, if you do not want to give, then do not give. After all, na your own money, so it is up to you to give or not to give. If you feel pressure or you are reluctant to give, please do not give at all.
If they talk sow a seed of 10,0000 naira or 50 naira, and you do not have or you do not want to give, do not stress yourself at all. Give what you can give easily and cheerful and if you do not want to, then don't.
Pastor can use words to persuade someone to give. At the end of the day, it is up to individuals to decide to give or not. So leave the Pastors and let them be.
If Pastor fly private jet, well good for him. If he use body guards, good for him. The body guards are getting paid and the private jet is not free. Since I was born, I have never seen a 419 carry a gun and force people to give them money. So why are 419 guys getting bad rep? |

We can argue that it reduces the amount of information that would otherwise be available to us. But the central message remains. Let's look at it like a biology textbook. If God demands perfection before approving people's worship how come He gave holy spirit to imperfect humans like Jesus' apostles? Perhaps you think they're perfect after their baptism by holy spirit. Well they were never perfect that's why Paul later counsel Peter! Galatians 2:11-14First I don't want to argue. If you notice, I agree with you when what you say is in line with the scriptures. I don't understand what you mean by, " If God demands perfection before approving people's worship." What do you mean by approving people's worship. Again did God demand that we become perfect? Yes Was Peter or Paul perfect at the time of their confrontation? Most likely not. That they were not perfect does not mean it is not demanded by God. "He said, be ye perfect." How else could he demand it? Arrogance can! If you're not humble you can never see the good in your imperfect neighbor and that's what will isolate you from the congregation of the holy ones. Note that God declared those baptized in the spirit "HOLY" yet they weren't perfect. Does God demand perfection? Again no. Would baptism make you automatically perfect? No To be perfect, you have to overcome like Jesus Christ. Hebrews 5:8-9 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Even Jesus Christ needed experiences to master perfection. So yes God wants us to become like him. He wants us to be perfect and without it, we can't receive his greatest blessings. |
Let's not go far. The God of Israel is perfect but He is not demanding perfection from imperfect humans rather He want us to know that before we can gain everlasting life we must be perfect {Matthew 5:48 compare to Leviticus 19:2} that's why He will give imperfect humans 1,000 years training under Jesus' rule {Revelations 20:4} for us to attain perfection. Your very first sentence is conflicted. If God does not demand perfection from us, then why is he demanding perfection before we can obtain eternal life? He clearly demands perfection and that is why we were commanded by Jesus Christ to be perfect.
Satan will still be released again to test the survivors and whatever any of them do at that time the blood of Jesus can't save them anymore so they will be utterly destroyed! Revelations 20:11-15 The bible never taught that the blood of Jesus Christ would no longer save after the 1000 years of his reign. Rather, the bible taught that nothing can separate us from his love through Jesus Christ.
As for the Love Jesus has its the same with his father! I agree with this 100% |

MaxInDHouse: You got me wrong!
By the time the God of Israel issued that decree the people were His slaves that He rescued out of the hands of the king of Egypt so He has every right to tell them what to and what not to do. But by the time Jesus walked the earth the Israelites were no longer under God's arrangement it was Rome that's ruling them. So blasphemy against any God shouldn't be a law after all the Romans revere several deities. That's why Jesus never commanded that his disciples should attack anyone over whatever they say, the only thing they could do is turn away from blasphemers. You claim God had slaves and yet you say he gives freedoms. If the Jews did not have freedom of speech and if they were God's slaves, that destroys your entire interpretation of God's love. If God's love means freedom of expression according to you, he won't keep slaves. Again, All through the old testament, God called Israel his children not his slaves. Exodus 4:22, “Israel is My son, my firstborn.” Jeremiah 31:20 “Is Ephraim My dear son? Is he a delightful child? Indeed, as often as I have spoken against him, I certainly still remember him; Therefore My heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him,” declares the Lord Deuteronomy 14:1 “You are the sons of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead Psalm 82:6 I said, “You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High Jeremiah 3:19 “Then I said, ‘How I would set you among My sons And give you a pleasant land, The most beautiful inheritance of the nations!’ And I said, ‘You shall call Me, My Father, And not turn away from following Me Take note. |

There is freedom of speech, expression, worship and association today that's why God said what is written in the Bible book of Revelation 22:11, 18-19
Otherwise there won't be any reason to wait for God to come and judge them just as it was in ancient Israel.
Meanwhile Jesus the founder of Christianity was accused of BLASPHEMY and that's what caused his death. So after Christianity there has been freedom of speech, expression, worship and association until God's Kingdom comes! You mean the God of Israel was not perfect for killing people for blasphemy. |

MaxInDHouse: Jesus is like a carbon copy of his father so whatever or whoever his father loves Jesus will equally love and whatever or whoever his father hates Jesus will hate. John 10:30
As for Jesus' sermon regarding perfection he wasn't talking about eternal love rather he was talking about the love to permit everyone express themselves. Just as there is freedom of speech, expression, worship and association God has allowed imperfect descendants of Adam to express themselves freely and as they do this He doesn't show favoritism towards anyone so whatever nature brings will be made accessible to both the righteous and unrighteous descendants of Adam for now {Matthew 5:45} but when it comes to loyal or eternal love only those adhering to the counsel of God that will be rescued in times when His judgment comes against evildoers! Genesis 18:25 This is why evildoers don't feel remorseful each time they see the righteous suffering due to righteousness they think there's nothing or any kind of reward from God for those striving to remain righteous! Psalms 14:1 He was talking about love. It's not up to you to redefine God's love. I prefer we don't add to the bible. I hope you know that Jesus Christ knows the difference between freedom and love. If he meant freedom as you say, he wouldn't need you to say it for him. He is much more intelligent and a far better speaker than you are. Again, it could not have been talking about freedom because God did not give the Children of Israel the freedom of expression. Blasphemy was a sin punishable by death Leviticus 24:15–16. |

The topic above is the opinion of a popular Nairalander in the religion space.
I am creating this post because I find his opinion interesting but false.
Now let me quote him word for word:
According to Jesus Christ, His friends are those who do what He says implying that those who do not do as He says are His enemies - John 15 vs 14 - and He spoke at length about having enemies.
Also, the same Jesus Christ also said the Father is greater than He, Jesus Christ, is, so, isn't it a leap to assume Jesus Christ must love all of those that the Father loves? Clearly, He tells you that His love is left only for those who obey His teachings and His commandments. So do you ignore the Truth as declared by Him so you can hold on to your ideas instead.. undecided
I disagree because I don't think Jesus is a hypocrite who can't practice what he teaches.
Below are the teachings of Christ in Matthew 5 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
What are your opinions? Is Christ not capable of loving everyone just like his Father? |
