^^^^^^'Small minority' is wrong in any form. Read an earlier post of mine to see why. |

Vivly: I just saw one of your post and honestly, you have no right to say I'm being pedantic. Goodnight!Errm, I know that wasn't meant for me, but I apologize if you found the term 'pedantic' offensive. It was written without malicious intent ma'am. |
Education / Re: Common Grammatical Tautologies by tdade(m): 10:09pm On Nov 23, 2013 |
'Small minority' is not a tautology, but it is still wrong. 'Smaller minority' is no exception either( take note OP). Small and smaller are both adjectives, and small is greater than smaller. 'Why is it wrong?' You ask. Well simple. By saying 'small minority,' you are implying that there's such a thing as 'big minority,' and by saying 'smaller minority,' you're also implying that there's such a thing as 'small minority.' A more appropriate term would be ' a minority inside what is already a minority.' There is either a majority or a minority - no such thing as 'big majority' or 'small minority.' So in a minority, you could have a majority and another minority, not a small minority - just as you do in a majority. This is exactly why I think the OP was being a tad pedantic, and that became justified the moment she said it should be 'smaller minority,' instead of 'small minority,' when in truth, it should be neither. Its just outright crap (sorry)! |
Education / Re: Common Grammatical Tautologies by tdade(m): 9:31pm On Nov 23, 2013 |
Inasmuch as the OP made some valid observations, I'm of the opinion that some points were borne out of pedantry on the OP's part. Can't be bothered to start disputing, cause I see some people have rightly done that. Having said that, I'd like to re-emphasize that the OP did make 'some' valid observations. |

Malcom represented the black race as they felt, and his eloquence was sublime. MLK believed there could be equality between both races, while Malcom wasn't bothered about that - he wanted out! The true difference is that Malcom saw himself as 'black' first, while MLK believed he(MLK) was an 'American black' - note: not 'black American' - hence, his believe that there should've been equal rights. One thing I believe though is that NOI was Malcom's major problem. The NOI of those days was extremely radical and only after he left there was he truly at his peak. |

Japan Belgium Australia Seems logical enough. I expect Belgium and Japan to give us a run for our money, though. so it'll be like a three-legged horse race for two positions. |
Politics / Re: Nigeria Does Not Have 100m Destitute – Presidency by tdade(m): 10:42am On Nov 18, 2013 |
While I do doubt the 100million people claim - mainly because I believe Nigeria's population figure is highly exaggerated - I'm very sure that those who do live in poverty, live in it extremely - and its certainly almost 3/4 of the country. The presidency can refute claims all they like, but in my opinion, there hasn't really been anything done about poverty, but lots have been done in making the thieving elites richer. Last bullet: am I the only one who feels the Anambra election is a taste of what we'll see in 2015? 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: US Senator Insults Nigeria In A bid To Mock Obama. by tdade(m): 8:16am On Oct 23, 2013 |
To those of you saying 'he's saying the truth,' take a good look at yourself. That 'joke,' I believe, had racial connotations. Truth or not, who the F is he to mention Nigeria, with xenophobic intent, in an American affair? WTF is Nigeria's business in his spat with Obama? Some Nigerians are just classic. They readily overlook his stupidity, all in their haste to point out 'he's saying the truth.' Your inferiority complex sha - or is it victim-complex? |
Politics / Re: US Senator Insults Nigeria In A bid To Mock Obama. by tdade(m): 12:06am On Oct 23, 2013 |
This is just Classic! How many times have we been insulted on a national scale? So these guys have such international recognition. The one thing that a black man has been able to master perfectly. Best of all, they are above all other races, and you can tell by this dude's comment that he's been duped a good 20grand. Well I for one love the global recognition, I just hate what's associated with it, albeit to an extent. If he and his people weren't so gullible, would they have been scammed? Even the Oslo shooter got duped by a Nigerian before he went kuukuu. It seems Cruz is also going kuukuu, no? |

Teminio: Thank you so much.Read the posts above. Your question has been answered. Yes, college is a secondary institution in Nigeria, just as it is a post secondary institution in UK(A levels, IB, Cambridge pre-u). Differs from place to place. |

adebayor1490: What about 666 in Americapeople take this thing very seriously o! Two weeks ago, my mum told a friend of my sis that he should try US and he foolishly said 'I've hated that place cause of 666, I like south Africa instead.' Old woman was livid. Look pal, just face what you are there for and leave '666' to worry about itself. |

Babyosisi, well done on this thread ma'am, you're doing a good job. Now, unto 'me'. I'm trying to convince my old man to let me study in US, but he's a bit hesitant. I need advice on schools. I'm thinking of going the CC route and then transfer to a uni owing to the cost. I've checked san jacinto and HCC and they seem to fit. My only fear is that, although my dad won't want me to work and can pay all through, I like being independent, but I'm not sure I can work with an F-1 visa - I'd like your input on this ma'am. And yes, I can try the SAT and hope for a good offer, but I'm pretty made up about the Community College - partly cause of the opportunity to join PTK if I'm very good(which I am) and the fact that its very flexible. Thanks in advance. |

0monnakoda:Psst! Read the modified post again and admit that you're wrong - on everything! The SW comparison to Japan, China buying Jaguar, amongst other things. I see you you've failed to take my advice, too. I obviously won't stoop low to your level of insults. 1 Like |

0monnakoda: How did it bite the dust? What is this thread about? Is it about who has the biggest dick in the land?Your snide comments make you seem infantile and petulant. I said if the US govt. defaults, China would be at a loss, and 'albeit temporarily.' Where did I claim 'this has more than that?' I stand on what I said on Japan, and I still say if China isn't careful, they'd go down that route. BTW, Tata of INDIA bought Jaguar, not China. Before you give replies marred with snide comments, read properly. You'd see I also said the world must do away with the dollar in an earlier post. And when did a 145000 sq mi Japan become equivalent to the SW of Nigeria? Do you know how small SW is in comparison? To further disprove your theory, why not compare 30000 sq mi England with a GDP of $2.5 trillion plus to Japan(145000sq mi) with a $4.7 trillion GDP. You do the math. If you'd be petulant and uncivilized, don't reply - simple! 1 Like |

0monnakoda: You are living in the past today the reality is America is a debtor and China is its biggest creditor. Yesterday the British Chancellor turned into a praise singer ala Obesere whilst in China begging for Chinese Investement. Offering to change Visa rules for Chinese whilst they are asking Nigerians to pay a bondWasn't Japan considered the next big thing in the eighties? Didn't that dream bite the dust? The harsh reality is, with all China's potential, if US goes the 'default' route, they'd be burnt - badly, albeit temporarily. Leaves one wondering maybe those at capitol hill are doing this purposely to wipe off their debt, but ultimately, stunt China's growth. 1 Like |

Dare I say, a US 'default' could cause military action. Maybe a bit far-fetched, but still plausible. |

Foreign Affairs / Re: China Blasts US Shutdown, Calls For A ‘de-americanized’ World by tdade(m): 2:00pm On Oct 16, 2013 |
The only solution is for Obama and co to raise the debt ceiling - and quick! After that, the whole world can start the debate on what would be best to replace the dollar. One thing is certain though - it cannot be another currency. There really is no alternative currency-wise. China employs deceptive tactics with its currency, the euro isn't stable enough, and the GBP would portend the exact same problem we encounter with the dollar - too much debt! One thing is certain though: if they choose to default, China, Japan, et al will suffer huge losses - and that has its disadvantages. 2 Likes |

samdior: ASUU has made a demand that seems unrealistic. 3tr. Naira should be in phases of more than d number of years mentioned, i think Ten years is more ideal. This economy is too fragile fr this outrageous demand. Education in Naija is deteriorating daily. In God we trust.$5billion[N800billion] per year is not unrealistic. That's the amount spent on research and grants alone in other counties. |

Isn't this meant to be in the education section? I've created one there without realizing this has already been created, and I recommended it for FP. Try recommending this one for FP too, seeing as you created it first, just in case. I expect MODs to look at the time both were created. @topic: this strike will go on till next year, if not longer. |
