No one lands without tower permission.

It's a Nigerian thing. Taking risks and putting passengers life at risk. Actually, pilots are trained to be able to handle such instance. The pilot should have requested for a diversion.

Airforce base can also be used for such instance if they were low on fuel.

Government messed up and pilot did not act in a professional manner. Ethics says find another airport to land.

Here's a clearer picture. Cc:nemesis4u

The company below is also the one developing the GCS as said. The Chinese military currently make use of their GCS for some of their UCAV.

@abiodunalasa, that my typical Nigerian comment is nothing o. Just trying to explain that I'm not trying to defend the country's defect as it must be acknowledged. I'm aware of the pride that comes with us Nigerian but if we want development, we need to acknowledge we're no where where our counterparts are.

Wait bros what do you mean "typical Nigerian" ? undecided

Ok bros I grab ya point.
But atleast we can have 500 guided shells and guided Air-to-Surface payloads for some specific occasions.

Look at that day that our Birds had to run away from that crash sight when BHT were advancing on us.

Do you think our Birds will stay make that "tactical withdrawal" if we have air-to-surface guided payloads at that particular instance?

Bro, if we had guided air to surface missiles / bombs BHT would have been Dealt with that day. Plus, they could have dropped dumb bombs too but that was danger close hence why I suggested that our guys should have moved back to create a distance between them and the BHT so that the MI-35m can strike from their position. The mi-35 fires guided atgm.

We having guided bombs will be more useful than guided artillery shells.

Sex is originated by God and if so how can it be that it brings so much stress if not achieved or done? now the only way of relief if one is not married is said to be sinful so why did God initiate a stressful activity?

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
James 1:14‭-‬15

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
Galatians 5:16

Here's it, you don't masturbate without being tempted. You don't masturbate without lusting at someone / something or having a lustful thinking. When you masturbate, you defile the body.

Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.

Egbon stop defending our defect.

Typical Nigerian. No one here is defending the Nigerian defect. I'm simply giving out an opinion on how both unguided and guided artillery works which you've not been able to counter with a point or fact but instead slam the 3rd world Bullshit.

It's very simple. A guided artillery will not follow a moving target to where so ever it's going but exact coordinates will get hit due to the GPS / inertial /laser guidance systems being employed. An unguided arty will have a + or - .

Same as rockets. You've seen our MRLS, unguided MRLS hitting bokoharam positions effectively.

There are some guided shells for about $75,000 which we can get. We can easily add that to our inventory. No one is saying Nigeria shouldn't posses such requirements. Imagine spending $50M on 500 guided shells when we can do what we want effectively with unguided shells at cheaper price.

What if its a mobile base... Like a ship ? undecided
Or one of those 21st century Battle Mobile Strongholds BMS ?

Intel are being performed before launching an artillery.

If you have the position of a mobile air defence systems, do you think after lauching a cruise missile with sophisticated guidance systems, the missile will keep following the platform to wherever location it's going? Hell no. Guidance system is just for precision since you have nothing to "home" om. Or an aircraft to update coordinates into the missile / artillery.

In essence, a guided artillery will also miss a moving target except if coordinate is been updated regularly through an aircraft or whatever. Advantage of a guided artillery is precision. andrewza already mentioned it that you can fire more shells to effect accuracy from unguided arty.

Egbon... this fighting style is so 16th century cheesy
What about in a CQB where lota variables are involved and not just feeding coordinates to a dumb gun ?
What if at the time of feeding coordinates to the big guns, then the target gets on its move ?

Compromising all these clinical for cost is what makes us a third world sh*thole wink

Senior man...
Yes, war is not soap opera, but neither is it a mad man's game.

Yes We need to fight according to our bank account... this not withstanding we cannot compromise on fighting good, fighting right and fighting clean.

Artillery are being used on enemy position / strong hold to dismantle them here giving ground troops an easy way to get in. Even guided artillery will miss a target which would be out of positions in few minutes.

@ andrewza and nemesis4u.

fair enough regarding your points.

Here's an interesting pdf about the topic. Posed the question just in the event a very precise hit is needed to avoid collateral damage especially in urban environments. Take out a dug in building, cqb or an attacking force further away with a drone above providing overview.
Regarding costs, a guidance kit (The Orbital ATK Armament Systems M1156 PGK) fitted to 155 mm shells costs about $120,000.000 for 12000 units which is about $10,000 each?

I am talking of shells similar to The American Excalibur rounds. We do not have the type unless you want to furnish us with proof.

You know how many shells are being fired per day in the north east? Firing millions of dollars in the war against BHT won't be a good idea since we can easily get coordinates with ISR and fire unguided shells.

in my own opinion, now that the state governments and even the fg are crying for state police, why don't they simply convert this peace corps to that? sincerely, we don't need a new security outfit at the federal level, the existing ones are already being abused

NSCDC should be put under state Governors command if the Nigerian government isn't willing to give out the Nigerian police force.

Peace corps isn't advisable. Enough of paramilitary already.
