The National Assembly really working for their own pocket. Be joking with the national security of the nation.

Why not make use of Veto power on actualizing state police? Why another para military outfit which will be under FG control.

Money truly does all things.

They have boxed in from every corner already !

Okay is it until they docked a Carrier in the Gulf of Guinea ?

Maybe we also should start romancing Mexico and Canada undecided

Military relationship with countries tend to dictate alot of things which are
How other countries will treat you.
Your gain / benefit ( aides) etc
Your country's economy (sanctions) etc.

If I'm to be the Nigerian president, I'm sure I'll most likely double as the defense minister too. shocked

Godamnit !
These yankees have us surrounded !

They can't just trust this largest Black nation on earth, can they undecided

They don't trust a more capable military and the most populated nation in the world so why us?

IMO, all these shiits about French / American military presence in west Africa means nothing. They're of no threat to us for now and all we have to do is to develop our own military. Equip our military to the best possible best. China just increased it's defence budget by sweet 8% .

What's the most populous Black nation doing?

ugv for ordinance disposal

On this UGV, I have a guy working with me. His R&grin is on UGV but the guy is trying to make use of artificial intelligence in the detection of IED.

Here is how it is. He's trying to make the UGV a technological demonstrator in which military vehicles can identify IED before stepping on them.

I dint know much about the research but the little information I have about it is that he's trying to make use of ground penetrating radar systems to filter temperature and ground pattern using artificial intelligence to detect an IED few meters away.

It's not about being a copycat. That's how nations protect their president.

That has been one of the duty of the Nigerian airforce since. The Nigerian Airforce also fly the vehicles in the Chief of Air Staff convoy.

Nigeria also airlift military vehicles too. E.G During the Gambia crisis.

u see this type of situations r very fluid , small factors small decisions can make the whole thing go well or go south

only those on the ground most of the time bear responsibility for their actions , its part of the game.

fact remains that they totally failed on the intelligence aspect, they had no idea that they were going to face these no of enemies in their area of interest.

due to that they did not have alternatives for escape or additional fire support both ground or air based

sum zero here lack of intelligence input failed them , and they paid the price.

Exactly, bad Intel caused the whole thing. I thought US has a drone base in Niger and Chad.

this is exactly what i had said previously

So what's the Americans doing there when they can't provide air support for their own guys?

I haven't heard of a fatal ambush on French Forces in Africa. They know how to play their game well while the Americans are trying to send a carrier to the Vietnam as a signal to China.

there is no hard and fast rule , becz the enemy will themselves use them to lure ur evacuation support assets into their killzone .

the color for the smoke grenade for every specific task is decided before commencing the mission

A disturbing new video released by ISIS shows thedramatic militant ambush in Niger last October that left four US special forces soldiers dead.

Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, Sgt. La David Johnson and Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright were killed as they returned from a low-risk patrol in Tongo Tongo with 30 Nigerian and up to 11 American soldiers,CBS News reported.

The more than nine-minute video was taken with a helmet camera worn by Johnson, according to the Daily Mail, which viewed the video. It was released by ISIS Sunday.

The graphic footage begins with the Green Berets trying to take cover behind an SUV as ISIS militants surround them. [i]The soldiers fire colored smoke grenades in hopes of alerting friendly aircraft overhead before running for cover – but it’d be another two hours before French aircraft would arrive.
]

One of the soldiers is struck by a bullet and dragged by another behind the SUV.

At one point, Johnson goes down screaming as armed ISIS fighters come into view. One last shot apparently fired at point-blank range then fills the screen. The camera cuts off.

The video also shows still photos of the bodies of the slain American soldiers and evidence that their bodies were mutilated, the Mail reported.

The Pentagon is expected to release findings from its investigation into the Niger attack later this week, CBS said. It has not yet commented on the new video.

President Trump sparked outrage after telling Johnson’s widow that the Green Beret “knew what he signed up for … but when it happens, it hurts anyway.”

ru sure , the red smoke was out before the guys walked into it with the car. these were popped before

it was a marker for air evacuation or maybe support .

if it was for cover they would have used it while retreating.

and personally never heard of using red smoke for cover

Air support came from the French. The French SF came in to push back the terrorist.

Quick question: when you know that you can't provide a rapid response, why send them out?

The soldiers from Niger that were there with them all fled the scene, leaving the Green Berets to their fate.

I would like to ask a question, do Bulletproof vests actually work, and how does a standard ballistic vest worn by soldiers work?

@Nemesis4u

looks like a tactical gear they had on with a radio pack.

Seems their vehicle got disabled. Plus, it was an open field and the guys had limited cover. The war here in Africa is different when compared with the middle east. Nothing stops them from leaving the area with the troops from Niger and call in air strike on the terrorist position.

If they had to fight, they'll exhaust their ammo as I'm sure only a large fighting force can inflict such damage.

Who has seen the video of the US green Berets being killed in Niger? Their video in action against the terrorist. ISIS released videos from the Green berets officers Cam.

Truly the war here in Africa is different from Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq. I wonder how it's going to be if the terrorist here have weapons possessed by the ones in the middle east. With what I saw in that video, I'm sure if there was presence of foreign SF in Nigeria, they would be having much casualties too.

RIP to the heroes.

Plus, the Yahbon 20 seems different in terms of design so I think it's probably another UAV entirely.

#BokoHaram video of execution of 'drug dealers' in Borno notable for many reasons. Depicts Boko Haram still exerting governance in certain areas; if it is indeed Shekau faction, seems he is now using ISIS production channel again. Split over?

It is real. If it was fake, the website will be opening but it is no longer opening. In the press statement released by this agency, the only claimed they were not recruiting

The website
dsa.mil.ng is not the real website of the Nigerian defence space agency.

The real website is http://defencespaceagency.mil.ng/ . The website was shut down after being brought to the awareness of the government.

Exclusive: Nigeria interested in acquiring Russian S-400 ground-to-air missile system.

The Nigerian defence minister confirmed the interest in buying S-400 missiles from Russia, the same missile defence system was recently sold to its allies, Iran and Turkey. Nigeria interest in this air defence systems will make her the first user in Africa with Algeria operating older versions.

Nigeria is interested in purchasing the same Russian missile defence system recently sold to Iran and Turkey, Nigeria's defence minister revealed.

Nigerian military authorities have voiced an official interest in buying advanced S-400 air and missile defence systems from the Russian Federation. Nigeria's efforts to enhance its defensive strategic military capabilities is necessary as the country do not posses a strategic missile defence system. For some years now it has sought to have a long-range missile defence system of its own, as it is currently relying on old Roland air defense systems.
