godG: Benefit of being a member of OBS?

1. You won't be posted to rural areas because most members of OBS end up in the Editorial/Publicity CDS and you can't do that in any place.

2. Depending on camp, you have license to run from parade by just staying in the studio.

3. With your tag, you walk in and out of lectures with ease. They will think you are on duty.

4. You learn some basic things about broadcasting.

These are all I can remember for now. I was in OBS too but my platoon activities couldn't let me function very well.

I was a Platoon Leader in camp.

Demanding. Because:
You might not really enjoy your camping being a
leader. E dey pain me say I no get time for 'package'. I was always exhausted. You have to attend to so MANY things. You coordinate your platoon activities. Your phone rings at leat 15 times daily. You get to work with the Platoon Officer and/or Commander whenever s/he calls. You are like the father of the platoon members. Then, you will know that Nigerian graduates are really unemployable. You take excuse for them.
You make announcements in OBS, etc.

Benefits:
You get posted to wherever you want if you did well. Without a dime. My officials actually asked me where I wanted because they loved the job I did. Likewise, you get access to firsthand info.

Another is that you might be licensed to go to mammi anytime if you have a good relationship with your Commander. Going out from the boring SAED lectures too won't be an issue for you. Just tell anybody that asks you that you are Officer Lagbaja's Platoon Leader. For me, almost all those soldiers knew me. Whenever them see me, dem go say:"Platoon 4 leader, how you dey?" My reply: "I'm good, sir." I go just waka like a boss.

Also, you will never get punished with your colleagues by your Commander. You choose what you want to do and what you don't want, because nobody expects you to kill yourself with all the demands that come with being the leader.

But please, don't mess with your colleagues' money. Be faithful, dedicated, listening, etc. and you would love the experience, because many people will look up to you - even after camp. Right now, they still call me Platoon Leader wherever they see me.

But I no get time for package. Any avenue wey I see, na soso sleep. Are you ready for this?

ebdib: Don't look at average scores of the university
They're highly deceptive.
You should be more interested in the departmental scores.
Princeton has an average verbal score of 166 for example. But this is deceptive because many engineering and math majors don't even crack 161.
But many guys in the arts get 170 in Verbal. So if you take the average verbal you might develop BP thinking you're not good enough for the school. Meanwhile all that matters is what your department thinks is OK.

MsNas: No, University of Florida isn't Ivy League. Most of the Ivy League schools are concentrated in New England. But the University is a competitive school to get in based on the sheer volume of applications they receive yearly. Also you should take into account the location of the school and also its reputation. As per their admission processing, You should know that Mechanical Engineering is a competitive course. Most of the time, all the student in the masters program are always on tuition waiver (at least for the A-rated schools)

My room-mate is a Mechanical Engineering student and while me as an IT student have like 18 students in my class(90% Indians), they are just 3-4 in their class. Lol . And their admission requirements is also set higher than the baseline admission requirements set by the graduate college. My advise to you is that while you apply to The University of Florida, try and apply to some B-ranked schools too as a safety net in case its doesn't pan out with UofF.

Msc Mechanical Engineering and MEng Mechanical Engineering: I really don't think there's much of a difference, except for the fast that maybe with the Msc route, you don get to concentrate too much on the architecture of Mechanical Engineering but rather the science that is used for the application of the course. MEng, most likely is gonna be much more technical than the Msc, as you're almost assured of doing all the grime work associated with the course.

I know in Naija it means literally nothing though. I graduated with a B.Tech Pure and Applied Physics just because I went to a University of Technology and spent 5 years doing it. It doesn't mean I'm better than those people who spent 4 years doing the same course. I definitely know employers of labor don't care.

I don't av problems with both parents being goal oriented, driven and the likes... But most times from experience from a lot of my parents friends the homefront suffers... And I mean the kids... We have a very close family friend whose wife is a director in an international bank, the husband is a regional manager... Very beautiful careers.. But they don't know their kids.. Dat family bond is not there... I tink its best when opposite gets married... Weda its d man dat get d family together or the woman so far its done...

bros, Been friends with ladies is gud u just treat them like ur normal friend u don't go the extra mile... Had dis friend in skool who zoned me, I liked her and I didn't want to blow the whole friendship thingy by asking her out, she had a bf who treated her badly, disvirgined her self .. So I was the consoler and emotional spare tyre among other things.. A friend gingered me told me to ask her out. I did,she was like temi.. U can't ask me out, it was ur friend dat told u to ask me out.. I made it clear it was out of my free will I did dat.. To cut the long story short d friend dat ginger me to ask her out started straffing the helll of her I didn't know until abt 4 mnths later thru anoda friend... And u no d funny thing is me, ma gingering friend and d babe wuld prepare for exams in his room and I didn't know dai were doing it... When I asked her she said she tot I knew.. It became very clear when dai started living couples life in school and I was back to square one... Hard lesson learnt... Friendzone is a disease worse dan AIDS bro.. It diminishes u.. I still tried been friend with her still until recently I joke with her to come flex since she has started working and she told me sowi ma money get plans... Dis was someone dat chop ma money to the fullest in skool.. Den I looked back and told maself never in my life wuld I let that happen to me...
