Onlytruth: S-South monarchs demand resource control
By Tony Nyong Uyo—Monarchs in the South South region ended their two days retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, stressing the need for the issues of fiscal federalism and resource control to be resolved as recommended by the Technical Committee on the Niger Delta.
The royal fathers according to a communique, read by the chairman of the South-South Monarchs’ Forum, HRM King Edmund Dr. M. Daukoru, Mingi XII , observed that the nmnesty initiative of the Federal Government was a welcome development that had helped to restore peace to the Niger Delta.
“Beyond the amnesty, the fundamental issues of fiscal federalism/resource control should be resolved through the upward review of the derivation principle as recommended by the Technical Committee on the Niger Delta.”
They further observed that the Goodluck Jonathan and Mohammed Sambo presidency was acceptable, as they are capable of steering the ship of the nation to change the plight of the citizenry and that they should freely exercise their fundamental rights to contest in the next election to sustain and consolidate the progress made so far in their service to the fatherland.
They noted that for there to be a free and fair elections, the election should be based on the principle of one man one vote, free of violence, intimidation or rigging.
Other points of the communiqué were as follows: that traditional rulers should, without being partisan, sensitize their subjects about the forthcoming registration exercise and the elections. That traditional rulers should be empowered through the constitutionalisation of their specific roles; and that in order to achieve their aspiration for constitutional empowerment, the South-south Monarchs’ Forum should network with the organizations of monarchs of the other geo=political zones in the country.
The theme of the retreat was “Strengthening Security & Co-operation for peace and Development in the Niger Delta Region.” There were four sub-themes with the discussion sessions being chaired differently by HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I- Ovie of Uwie, HRM King Prof. T. J. T Princewill Amachree XI – Amanyanabo of Kalabari, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V- Obong of Calabar and HRE King Alfred Diete Spiff-Seriyali II- Amanyanabo of Twon Brass. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/09/s-south-monarchs-demand-resource-control/ What was the point of this article? |

Onlytruth: I keep telling you that you are a kid. 1990s is not today. If you are intelligent enough, you would notice that IBB's top priority is to finally heal the civil war wounds. I know that in your extremely selfish world, you can't see that. Not to worry, the rest of us see. The only reason IBB would have wanted to assuage the Yoruba in 1990s was because Ndigbo could not be counted to stand with the North in case of trouble.
If IBB finally heals that wound and integrate Ndigbo into Nigerian mainstream (which will happen irrespective of what your people do), then, I can assure you that you cannot threaten Nigeria in any way.
This is the point I want Igbo readers to understand too.
IBB wants to build a nation out of Ngieria. hahahhaha, you are now peddling your shit to Igbo's. IBB couldnt trust Igbo's then, so why trust them now? Northerner's were never interested in the civil war or cared. Remember Yoruba's helped to end the war. Northerner's were ready to ethnically cleanse the Igbo's. And all of a sudden they care about civil war? You are a big disgrace to your tribe. You will lick the ground for a few handouts and sellout your people. What a big shame. |

Why can't you people focus on the failures of your own people than trying to lynch a man who actually empowered you in Nigeria. If IBB did not support power shift to the west, do you think it would have happened?
Why do you enjoy stabbing people in the back. Na wa. IBB obviously knows something you dont. You are a retard once again. Shonekan could have done some thing if he had the balls. That is part of why I am opposed to a lot of contestants today, because they lack the balls for leadership. Did shonekan stand a chance against IBB and Abacha? A common civilian? Shonekan was only there to pacify Nigerian's because chaos was about to erupt, and once they achieved that Abacha was conveniently put in. Onlytruth: Question for you toomuchnyash, Why didn't he pick Prof Maurice Iwu then? Since he is a terrible leader.
Do you think he couldn't have killed all his opponents then and remained in office and nothing would have happened?
You are not giving this man credit.
He discovered and employed the genius called Nwosu and allowed him to operate Option A4 until Abiola's enemies caught up with Abiola and ruined the transition program. Is that what they told you at your camp? Maurice Iwu was nobody of significance in Nigeria of that time. He was forced to accept NWOSU!!! by the people, never his own choice. Stop lying there. You are damn right, he could have killed his opponents, but the opposition against him and the need for democratic government was greater than IBB. So as the usual coward, he pretended he was handing over, annuled the election and handed over to the most ridiculous leader Nigeria ever had, ABACHA. Even if IBB is not forgiven for june 12, we will never forgive him for ABACHA! That was the most terrible thing he could have done to NIgeria. Someone with that stole so much as to import Indian love-peddlers and die ontop of them. This is the same person you want us to accept. Killed MKO. You could otherwise be an intelligent dude. So, who designed and implemented the ONLY system Nigerians accept as the best even today, namely OPTION 4A?
Who designed it?
The June 12th election was produced by that method (I know most of you mob members don't know this!).
Nigerians from all parts of Nigeria canceled the elections. Even OBJ was privy to it.
So what are you talking about? Answer: Humphrey Nwosu, Never IBB. OnlyLies. And it was designed that way because the people were clamouring for a transition to democratic government, with free and fair elections. IBB was pressured to accept the genius that was NWOSU. He sponsored the coup that toppled Shagari and crew in 1983. He was IBB's bosom friend and they ruled Nigeria together. He even rigged the first elections won by Shehu Musa Yar adua (our dead president's brother) in 1991. That election was canceled, sponsored by Abiola! So, when he won, other Nigerians laid ambush for him and canceled it too. hmm, so you have just admitted that IBB has helped to anul 2 free and fair elections? Continue shooting yourself in the foot. THOUSANDS of people in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Wednesday protested the "unfairness" of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the state.
The demonstrators, who carried placards with inscriptions, such as: "EFCC please obey the law"; "EFCC now a political tool"; "EFCC please leave Rivers people alone"; "Farida obey court orders and judgment"; "EFCC the Nigerian Gestapo" marched on the offices of the commission.
The group’s spokesmen, Johnny Bazia and Kingsley Chinda, condemned the arrests of some state officials. They said the EFCC had been restrained by a court injunction.
Chinda said: "We are not against the fight against corruption; what we are against is the style and method."
He urged the agency to vacate the court order before arresting any government official.
The protesters praised the efforts of Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
The agency’s Head of Operations in the Southsouth, Hycient Edozie, hailed the protesters for their peaceful approach. He promised to convey their message to the headquarters in Abuja.
Edozie said if the protesters are not satisfied with the commission they are free to go to the courts.
The protesters also marched on the Government House, where another spokesman, Sam Oge, said the people were not afraid of the EFCC.
Oge enjoined the agency not to allow itself to be used as a political tool to witch-hunt people.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ken Chikere, said the state has obtained two judgments against the EFCC.
Deputy Governor Tele Ikuru described Amaechi as "a man of the rule of law, who will continue to respect the law because he became governor through the rule of law".
The state has denied any plans to destroy the agency’s offices, as alleged by the EFCC.
Commissioner for Information Ibim Semenitari said: "Not only has the agency taken on the role of distracting the government, it has employed de-marketing tactics to destroy the region’s economy.
"We have not joined issues with the EFCC, but it has become clear to us that what was meant to be a noble institution may have become a tool of oppression, mischief and blackmail in the hands of unpatriotic and diabolical elements.
"The state is open for business. All our activities are transparent for all to see." SORRY FOR THE MISS UP. THIS IS TODAYS NEWSPAPER AND IF YOU KNOW ANYBODY IN RIVERS STATE ASK HIM IF THERE IS ANY PROTEST IN RIVERS STATE YESTERDAY OR NOT. Did they in anyway mention that they were protesting against Jonathan's presidency? Pointing out your nonsense is hopeless. You keep bringing new stuff to put your argument or cause to a new low. .
