Not that I care about being called Yeruba. But just to irk some few I will also resort to calling you guys IBO.All am saying is that some people think they want to get at Yoruba's because they don't want IBB.Serious flaw.No one wants IBB, and Yoruba's never wanted OBJ. He also happens to be the one that did the best for Ibo's suprisingly.Yoruba's will always vote for whoever has the interest of the state at heart and promises the best.E.g, Mimiko from the LP.If a PDP man comes that has a track record, whether Ibo,Yoruba or Hausa, Yoruba will vote him in.We never do crowd mentality, that is an Ibo trait.

Since your cameroonian nationality prevents you from knowing about IBB, take a second to educate yourself on his background. He is Nupe.rotflmao.These damn Yoruba's!Hiding under all sorts.hahaha. Yoruba's don't care about group interest, that is why we will vote for the best candidate that we think will represnt the pressing needs. That's why Igbo's are where they are at.1 single person can tell all ya'all to kill yourselves.

Fear? I wish you guys will even support him.Serious yawa. Deal with Yoruba's? Big fail. You guys have never succeeded and never will.By the way, IBB's middle name is Badamasi? Hmm. Sounds like Gbadamosi to me. Someone adjusted his name to fit into the northern crowd. Keep deceiving yourselves. That is why Igbo's are a major tribe but are no where, cos u guys can't see beyond ur ass holes.IBB will never amount to anything.Nd never did I say vote Jonathan. You are so intent on seeing Yoruba's come to your level. Not in a 1000 years.cos we have our own voice. We spearheaded fairness for jonathan's presidency as is required by the rule of law in all fairness. Leading up to where we are of having capable presidential candidates for the presidency.May the best man win, make sure history is on your side.cos no one will teach Igbo's before they move to cameroon or hide their identity if IBB wins.No one fears IBB. I pity you.hahahaha

If the SS,MB and SW vote against IBB don't you still lose? Forget that 30million population bullshit, a big fallacy.Na for this INEC we go know who get population pass.Don't be deceived. How does it so happen that the 3 major ethnic groups claim to be 30million? Most female northerners may not even vote. The illiterates.hahahaha.A lot of them actually.Nd for your information IBB is nupe. From kogi state.

I wanna know if the Igbo's just like to victimize themselves purposely. If they support IBB, and the campaign fails? Even if he wins and he does more harm, wouldn't that affect the future Igbo presidential candidates? I doubt if other groups will ever trust them again. Why not put forward your own candidate or pick from fresh candidates? Which group will want to associate themselves with IBB? Except if they want to sacrifice their future opportunities and loose.Igbo's can be stronger if they take a progressive stance.Even if they support IBB, he will still lose.Only the Igbo's and core north will vote for him.Now what? The next government will make sure the Igbo's get no relevant political positions.Stop setting yourselves up because you are thinking selfishly.Think Nigeria, because IBB betrays everyone.

Sure for your age group.Sooner or later you will realise that relationships are give and take.If the tables were turned and the man needed something the girl could help him with, and she refused. He will dump her.I will do the same to a woman that is of no use to me.

^Understand that you are not paying for anything. You are investing in someone that is worth it.You do your best for her without expecting something back and all should fall in place. In this world, anywhere you go women expect something from you.So if you leave her, your next girlfriend will expect something from you as well.Sit her down and tell her that you see a future with her and are willing to help her get there. However you will both have to work hard towards that future.Make her understand that you can't afford everything she needs. But you believe if she has patience the both of you can get there.Trust me, the grass is never greener on the other side. Why will she bother to give you pussy when she feels like you don't care about her needs(school?).She may be studying you and how you respond.

That is why you are in a relationship. To help each other, financially and growth wise. With a focus on achieving great things in future as a couple. You are obviously still a child.I don't think any woman will want a man that never gives her gifts or helps her when she knows he can.I don't mean go out of your way to steal, if you can afford it and you love her, why not? This person is struggling to be productive and is not prostituting herself to get there. The best you can do is help her with what matters, the school fees or books. If you don't drop the money when she knows u can afford it, forget getting pussy. She will put u in the "just useless" friends category. So be help your GF, even if you don't end up together and she becomes something in future, you have a lot to be proud of.

Obasanjo, IBB in secret meeting
 By Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja
 Saturday, 31 Jul 2010

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd), met in Abuja on Thursday over the 2011 presidential election.

The meeting, which took place at the Wuse 11 residence of Babangida, was held behind closed doors.

Sources close to the meeting, however, told our correspondent on Friday that Obasanjo asked Babangida to drop his presidential ambition in the interest of the nation and to prevail on some northern governors who on Tuesday voted to support zoning at their meeting held in Kaduna to change their stance.

Although Babangida was said to have been non-committal on Obasanjo’s request that he should drop his presidential ambition, he was said to have told his guest that it would be difficult for him to convince all the states in the north to jettison zoning.

It was also learnt that as a follow up to the meeting, Obasanjo agreed to meet with key northern traditional rulers on the need to prevail on their subjects to forget zoning for now ”in the interest of the nation.”

A source, who did not want to be named because the discussions at the meeting were not meant for public knowledge, said, ”The meeting was held at Wuse 11, and it was between the two former presidents, Obasanjo and IBB (as Babangida is popularly called).

”The aim of the meeting was to ask IBB to drop his presidential ambition as Obasanjo was said to have explained that the ambition was not in the interest of the nation.

”Not only that, the two statesmen, especially Obasanjo, were said to have opined that the resolutions of the northern governors were not in the interest of the nation, and that the two of them must find a remarkable solution to the logjam.”

Our correspondent also learnt that before the meeting, Obasanjo had met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa where the two leaders appraised the impact of the resolutions of the northern governors on the President‘s ambition.

It was at this meeting that the idea of Obasanjo meeting with Babangida was said to have been muted.

Although details of Jonathan’s and Obasanjo’s analyses of the northern governors‘ resolutions when the two met were sketchy at press time, the President was said to have agreed that there was a need for what the source called ”extensive consultation with stakeholders from the north.”

This, it was gathered, might delay until a later date in August Jonathan’s public declaration of his decision to contest for the presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The 19 northern states on Tuesday openly disagreed over the adoption of the zoning formula of the PDP for the 2011 presidential election.

At the meeting of the governors held in Kaduna, 10 states voted for zoning while seven states voted against it.

The states that declared support for zoning were Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Gombe, Jigawa, Niger, Kwara, Borno and Kano. Two of these states, namely Borno and Kano, are being governed by the All Nigerian Peoples Party.

The governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shakarau, had before now campaigned against zoning, just as he is campaigning to be the ANPP presidential candidate.

However, seven of the northern states voted against zoning, stressing that merit was the only way to move the country forward.

The states are Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba and Nasarawa.

Yobe State reportedly abstained from voting, while Bauchi was not represented because of the death of the Emir of Bauchi.

Nevertheless, the position of the Bauchi governor, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, is well known as he has been canvassing for the dumping of zoning openly.

Bayelsa violence: Gunmen attack Sylva’s family home shocked shocked shocked
By Olamilekan Lartey, Yenagoa
Monday, 2 Aug 2010

The violence in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, appeared to have shifted to the riverside communities of the state with an attack on the family home of Governor Timipre Sylva.

The military Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta had beefed security in the state capital following spate of gang-like killings that left seven people dead and several injured by Friday night.

While the security agencies conducted a stop-and-search operation in Yenagoa, unknown attackers struck at Sylva’s compound in Okpoma, Brass Local Government Area.

Sources told our correspondent that one of the victims of the attack was the 83-year-old uncle of the governor.

The old retired soldier was said to have been beaten up in the attack while property in the compound and others in the community were destroyed.

It was learnt that the attack which took place around 4.30 am was carried out by armed men in two boats.

State Commissioner for Information, Strategy and Orientation, Mr. Nathan Egba, who supervised a fact-finding mission to Okpoma on Saturday afternoon, said the series of attacks and violence that had rocked the state in the past few days were aimed at embarrassing the state government.

“It is obvious that it may be part of coordinated attacks to make the Bayelsa environment unsafe. The state has enjoyed peace because the state governor has invested much in sustenance of the peace and development of the state. The governor’s record at achieving and maintaining peace in the state may have threatened some individuals,” Egba said.

He called on the people of the state to give information to the security agencies about suspicious characters.

“The people should assist the state government and it is also a call to duty for the security agencies in the state,” he said.

The country home of the former deputy governor of the state, Mr. Peremobowei Ebebi, was attacked with explosives on Friday, July 23 in Aleibiri, Ekeremor Local Government Area.

The impact of the improvised explosive device destroyed a part of the building, while the security man in the building was seriously injured.

The Bayelsa State police command said it was on top of the situation and that it had dispatched teams to Aleibiri in Ekeremor Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Eguavon Emokpae, said the police was combing the creeks and water ways of the Ekeremor area in order to fish out the perpetrators of the crime.

Ekeremor and Brass were centres of violence at the peak of the militancy in the Niger Delta. Both local government areas are accessible only by water.

A spate of explosions had rocked different parts of the state capital in the last two months.

The first explosion had occurred on the night of May 2, at the peak of the political rivalry between the Sylva, and Ebebi.

But since Tuesday last week, there’s has been a killing at least every night in the state capital.

The insecurity forced the JTF to intervene by deploying troops and armoured personnel carriers in strategic areas of Yenagoa on Saturday.

Voter register: INEC to take eye, finger data
By Niyi Odebode with agency report
Monday, 2 Aug 2010

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday said that it would prevent multiple and fictitious names in the new voter register through the use of biometric database.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, made this known in a telephone interview with our correspondent.

An online dictionary, webopedia.com, defines biometric identification schemes as the analyses of facial characteristics; fingerprints; hand geometry; the retina; and patterns of veins on the back of the hand and the wrist.

A professor of Medicine, Oladapo Ashiru, told our correspondent that gathering biometric data would involve measuring the height and weight of an individual as well as taking his or her fingerprints.

Ashiru, who is the Managing Director of the Medical Assisted Reproductive Centre, Maryland, Lagos, added that such data would include facial pattern, iris and retina recordings, hand patterns and fingerprints.

According to him, some biometric data could also include DNA documentation. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in human beings and almost all other organisms.

Another medical practitioner and Chairman of the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Adedamola Dada, concurred that, for the purpose of elections, biometrics would involve the recording of an individual’s physical characteristics.

A senior registrar at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Adewale Olajide, corroborated Ashiru and Dada. He explained further that biometric data would include body mass index, which is weight divided by height times two.

The decision by the electoral body to take the biometric data of prospective voters follows the discovery of strange names, such as ‘Nelson Mandela’, ‘Mike Tyson’, ‘Bill Clinton’ and ‘Jesse Jackson’, in the voter register compiled by INEC under its former Chairman, Dr. Maurice Iwu, in 2006.

Justifying the use of biometrics, Idowu said, “The use of biometrics will eliminate double and fictitious registration. We believe that it is the beginning of free elections.”

He explained that with the use of Direct Data Capturing machines, a reliable voter register could be easily compiled, adding that the use of biometrics would foster transparency during the 2011 elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria had last week quoted a director of the National Population Commission in Osun State, Mr. Tunji Ajayi, as advising INEC to collaborate with the NPC in compiling a new voter register.

According to him, since the Council of State and the National Assembly had approved the 2006 census result, the data from the census could be used as a basis for the revision.

But Idowu said on Sunday that, “INEC would not rely on the 2006 census result because of the changes that the country’s demography would have experienced since the exercise.

“INEC would deploy all the machinery to ensure it overcomes the possible variations arising from mortality recorded from 2006 till date. Some who were under 18 years of age in 2006 are now eligible to vote.”

He added that INEC‘s database was currently heavier than before. “So INEC will go ahead to conduct its own register because of the variances.”

Idowu also allayed fears of violence during the 2011 elections. He said that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ogbonna Onovo, had had a meeting with the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, last week, adding that the police would do all they could to prevent violence during the elections.

According to Idowu, the violence recorded during the House of Assembly rerun in Ondo State on Saturday, was not an indication that next year’s poll would be marred by violence.

Jega had last week said that the commission needed N74bn to compile a new voter register. He also said that the Electoral Act should be amended to extend the deadline for voter registration from September 9 to November 9.

He had added that the commission would need 120,000 sets of DDC machines for the purpose.

A DDC machine is made up of a laptop computer, a fingerprint scanner, a high resolution camera, a back-up power pack and an integrated printer that produce high quality voter cards.

Jega had also at a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters in Abuja on Thursday, said the existing voter register was not useful for the forthcoming poll because it was riddled with errors.

He had added that N74bn needed by the commission for the compilation of the new register must be made available with two weeks.

Jega described the process for purchasing the machines as complex and urged the government to waive the due process requirements for the commission in order for it to make a quick purchase.

According to him, he had told President Goodluck Jonathan; the Minister of Finance, Mr. Olusegun Aganga; and other stakeholders at several meetings that if the money was not made available within a reasonable time, INEC could not perform “any magic.”

DPO Sam Chukwu Arrested As Lotachukwu Ezeudu Is Confirmed Dead
July 26, 2010 - 19:59
Posted by Sahara Reporters

Our police sources have revealed that former Divisional Police Officer Sam Chukwu, a mastermind of kidnapping activities in Enugu, has been arrested.

Inspector-General of Police Ogbonnaya Onovo ordered the arrest of Sam Chukwu, the former divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of the Awkunanaw Police Station. Our sources said Chukwu was arrested about ten days, handcuffed and taken to Abuja where he is being detained. Several more officers were also arrested along with Sam Chukwu, our sources revealed.

Chukwu’s arrest came as police sources also confirmed to Saharareporters that kidnapped student, Lotachukwu (Lota) Ezeudu, is dead. Our sources disclosed that several of the suspects in police custody have confessed that they killed Lota Ezeudu, a second year accountancy student at the University of Nigeria (Enugu campus) two weeks after his kidnap.

Lota, 19 years old, was the only son of Bona Ezeudu, a well known Enugu-based painter and sculptor, and his wife, Ngozi Ezeudu.

Sources at police headquarters in Abuja told Saharareporters that Onovo had tasked Mr. Dan Azumi Doma, the new Enugu State Commissioner of Police, to make the fight against kidnapping his number one priority. Our sources said the inspector-general was shocked to discover the depth of involvement of criminal-minded officers in kidnap and ransom activities in Enugu and other southeastern states.

Saharareporters had written detailed reports implicating arrested DPO Sam Chukwu as the sponsor and mastermind of a murderous ring of kidnappers who operated in Enugu State and beyond.

Police sources told Saharareporters that Onovo had personally received reliable intelligence linking Sam Chukwu and his gang to the kidnap of Lota Ezeudu as well as a spate of other kidnapping cases. A top police source told Saharareporters that, during a recent working tour of Enugu State, IG Onovo had met with Sam Chukwu and warned him that he was under investigation following the revelations of his criminal activities on the Saharareporters’ website.

“Sam Chukwu’s gang specialized in hijacking tankers filled with fuel,” a police source told us.

Another police source had told Saharareporters several weeks ago that Chukwu’s gang often killed tanker drivers and then sold the fuel to Nowas Petroleum owned by Ignatius Nnubia, a shadowy businessman in Enugu. Nnubia is currently in detention for his involvement in the kidnap of Dr. Francis Edemobi, a younger brother to Information Minister Dora Akunyili.

Two of the suspects in Lota Ezeudu’s kidnap, Desmond Chinwuba and Ernest Okeke, were dismissed from the police and charged to court in relation to a case where they hijacked petroleum products from a tanker driver.

Our sources disclosed that Desmond, who is on the run and has been declared wanted in connection with Lota Ezeudu’s case, and Ernest, who is in detention over the case, worked for Sam Chukwu.

One source in the Enugu State Ministry of Justice told us that Sam Chukwu had “arranged with the judge to grant bail to the two suspects,” adding that it was highly unusual to grant bail in cases of armed robbery, kidnap and murder.

Desmond Chinwuba lived in DPO Chukwu’s home prior to going into hiding. Lota Ezeudu was kidnapped after the DPO’s son, Nnaemeka Chukwu, invited him out with the lie that Desmond needed Lota’s help to inspect a laptop. Our sources said that Nnaemeka Chukwu, who was Lota’s classmate in secondary school, had lied to Lota and other friends that Desmond was his father’s personal assistant.

Prior to his arrest some ten days ago, Sam Chukwu had hired a lawyer to argue before Justice Agbata (of High Court 3 in Enugu) that his son, Nnaemeka, should be granted bail from prison custody. Our judicial source said that Chukwu’s lawyer presented misleading medical reports to support the bail application, adding that “no judge with the fear of God or a strong sense of law would grant bail to a boy who worked with his father’s ring of kidnappers and led a trusting friend to his kidnap and death.”

Justice Agbata is set to rule on the bail application on Friday July 30. However, a source within the Enugu State Police Command told Saharareporters that the new commissioner of police is determined to see Nnaemeka Chukwu remain in prison custody pending his trial.

Nigeria@50: NLC urges FG to further reduce N6.6bn budget- This is as of today, so 234 next got it wrong and have lost credibility, we love sensational news but not false news. angry.
By Agency reporter
Monday, 26 Jul 2010

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Sunday called on the Federal Government to further reduce the N6.6bn budget for Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary celebration.

The initial N10bn budget was recently reduced to N6.6bn.

The NLC’s Chief Economist, Dr. Peter Ozo-Ezon, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that 50 years of Nigeria’s existence did not require a jamboree but required sober reflection.

“We think that what we require at the 50th anniversary is an opportunity for sober reflection of why we are at where we are.

“Given that we have not realised the potential of this country, we do not require this huge budget to celebrate the anniversary.

“Let us ask the question, how many dilapidated schools can that amount refurbish or renovate and how many hospitals and health clinics can such an amount improve?

“How many roads can we fix? These are practical questions we must be asking,” he said.

The NLC official lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for reducing the initial budget by 33 per cent.

“The 33 per cent deduction is not what we are looking for; we are actually saying that we need to completely scale down the proceedings for the 50th anniversary.

“It will be better to have a budget that will clearly not be more than N1bn or N2bn, to organise opportunities for us to reflect on why we are where we are.

“We should also remind ourselves about what we have achieved, because there have been many achievements, and the way forward.

“We should spend the money directly on productive type of investments by creating both a stimulus to aggregate demand and a stimulus to the supply side. I think that is what the economy needs,” Ozo-Eson added.

He said that the delay in the implementation of the 2010 budget was quite unfortunate for the economy.

Ozo-Eson said the budget was supposed to give broad directions of government‘s priority for the economy into the next 12 months.

“It is indeed a setback situation; this does not show seriousness and it does not give the type of information that brings confidence, whether for investors or for whosoever that is operating in the economy.

“This is a situation of a flip-flop on the budget draining the national economy. When the national economy suffers, workers suffer. This is because the buoyant economy is the best for workers to guarantee their jobs and to be able to get their wages raised.

“This present situation has led to where we are, where the economy is really nothing to write home about,” he told NAN.
