Well i am following the arguments in this thread. I think i have answered your questions anyways. And please, Lagos Yoruba is different from other Yoruba dialects. Even if he wanted to rule over Yoruba's will he understand our very respectful nature? Will he recognize the powers of the Aalafin? Will he understand our festivals and rites? i dont think so. I am addressing the Zik issue here that makes Igbo's misyarn about Yoruba's being tribalist. Zik was born in the North, probably raised in the North/ East and spent a good part of his life in the US. What tha hell does he have in common with Yoruba's. That is what amazes me, he knows next to nothing about Yoruba's. So why would they elect him. The fact that he was a part of the party and held significant position shows the open nature of Yoruba's. Its not a big deal, but to rule them? I dont think so.

Representative level is not the same as Governor or senator. I dont think we will ever advance to that level. And besides the representative positions may not be significantly influential positions. Just to indicate diversity. I dont think an Igbo man will ever be governor or senator in Yorubaland and vice versa. If that happens then they have the right to contest for Yoruba Oba post now abi? Please people should get real and face reality. No one is being tribalistic, only looking out for their people's best interest. Same way Pete Edochie was accussing Olu Jacobs for playing Igbo king roles, because he doesnt understand the Igbo tradition or way of acting. You are simply being simplistic.You seem to forget that a lot of people these days are now being born and are growing in places outside the ethnic origin.Go to lagos,kaduna,portharcourt,kano,enugu, aba,onitsha,ibadan and see the number ot non indegenes that are presently living there that were born and brought up there and behave,speak the lanuguage of that area and know nothing really about the area of their ethnic origin.This is 2010 not 1960.

Well that was 1960, and we still have the same mentality. No matter what we are a very ethnic country with limited resources. Do you think a whole ethnic group will let a stranger come in and tell them how to share their resource and live their lives? Being Yoruba is a way of life as well as being Igbo. It doesnt even matter if you were born outside of your village. I cannot go and fight for the right to contest in Igbo land. For what? What tha hell do i know that i am doing there? I cannot learn their norms, traditions, language and other things even if i lived there for a lifetime. There is nothing like being directly from the heritage. Everyone needs someone they can relate to and trust. Also someone that is bound by the belief systems of a certain group. This is not America, a land of immigrants. This is an ethnic country. The more you get comfortable with it the better for you. Focus on how your area ca be best developed with its limited resources. I dont think it can ever change, despite migrations and all sorts.
