samfibby: @texazzpete From your quotes and replies Its obvious you are stuck to apple, so much so that you would post a revenue chart probably drawn up by apple inc. Yes, a lot of dudes who carry around a iphone or apple product know next to nothing about these phones, they are so eager to join the club of apple users that they are milked dry by apple. There are definitely more android users using free and available stuffs online and equally having a great time with their phone, try get one and see, feel the experience. As regards the name, am i bad, sorry 4 de mixup, the two have a thing in common. MONOPLOY KINGS
Haba!
The image i posted CLEARLY shows the data source below the graph (Flurry Analytics). What then is the reason behind the statement "revenue chart probably drawn up by Apple"?

There are a lot of Apple users that are not tech savvy, just like there are definitely a lot of Android users that know little about technology too. In fact, I sometimes think many Android fans are a lot less tech savvy than we think. When you see the kind of daft things I see from Android fanboys in the Engadget comments...

Finally, just because I rep iPhone a lot doesn't mean I dislike Android. I AM picking up a HTC One X shortly...and that's the best Android phone out there.

jp philips: how on earth did the BB and Iphones qualify as smart phones?
when i say smart i expect flexibility beyond umbrages, how can a smart phone not have bluetooth? for texasspette, i cant rem the last time i keyed in contacts to my directory from a colleague or in OPS camp, we share contacts over bluetooth what about instant pics? u transfer through email? when you are out of bundle, then you forget the pics? i dont see any wisdom in that.
more so, its my money give me the functionality and i will choose whether to use it or not, my 4yrs P1i came with infra red and fm radio but ive never used them
how can u pay for an IOS when the almighty experia S has hit the shelves? in case u dont knw, the froyo OS of android comes standard as a Wifi hotspot wonder the big deal in the IOS being a router?
most android hardwares support upgradable versions of the ice cream sandwich.
i can only own an IOS or BOS at gun point
XPERIA S rocks!!!
If Bluetooth file transfer is an essential feature to you, by all means keep using an Android phone. Millions of people around the world KNOW that the iPhone does not support Bluetooth file transfer and they simply do not care.

As I said before, I cannot remember when last I ever felt the need to do a file transfer via bluetooth.

Finally, you're wrong. Most Android devices out there will not get Ice cream sandwich.

blink182: Generalizing to this extent is plain Stu. pid. As a matter of fact you are very ignorant. Please tell me how  OS is both archaic and outdated? The ☎ was made for business people on the go who need to stay connected. Its not a toy like most girls think it is. People who know what the  is for will hardly come here to say anything cos they are usually too busy making money, Then they can have a second ☎ for play usually ios, belle or android. Have used the three OS and as far as gaming goes, they are mostly the same. YES mostly the same.
Blackberry OS 7 is 'mostly the same' for gaming as Android and iOS?!! What have you been smoking? How many 3D games are there on OS7 and of that number how many are remotely comparable to their Android and iOS counterparts?

Secondly, RIM HEAVILY markets the Blackberry phones to the consumer market so it is as much a 'toy' as any other smartphone platform. Anyone who parrots the whole 'Blackberries are serious devices for business' line should go back to 2008 before RIM launched the BB Storm and started promoting BBM.

Truth be told, the BB OS is archaic, unintuitive and slow. You've never questioned why reboots take ages, why you have to reboot after nearly any app install/upgrade and why the phone freezes like mad?

Just for the record, I own an iPhone 4S, third Gen iPad, Galaxy tab 8.9 and a Bold 9900. I'll be picking up a HTC One X in the next 2 weeks. So I can speak confidently on any of the major OS platforms.

Why would the trailer owner be probed? if Dagrin was not under the influence of Alcohol he should easily have been able to avoid running into the stationary trailer that was not blocking the road.

samfibby: If you are pushing 4 a career as a app developer and quite tech savvy, the andriod presents u with a platform to start. The fact that its open source makes android preferable. I personally dont like to b restricted by iphone os, can be very frustration. No doubt, the iphone comes atop in the appearance category, easily appreciated by company excos and ladies but 4 a technical person who wants the tech freedom, appearance could b sacrificed for diversity and custom. Personally, i prefer the android to the iphone.
Exactly why many programmers remain poor in this life cheesy

FACT: Applications on the iPhone AppStore make MUCH MUCH more money than apps on the Google Play market.

Apple provides loads of APIs and frameworks to allow you churn out your high quality apps with little restrictions (as long as you aren't doing something illegal) and review your apps to ensure unforseen and unpleasant results do not happen. For a Developer the critical thing should be the market size (number of prospective customers) and potential reward. Asking a dev to focus on Android because it is 'open' is just plain funny grin

Every Dev knows that of all the > 15 million iPad 3 sold so far, not one is running pirated software. Every dev should know that 10 minutes after purchasing the new HTC One X, people were already copying over their pirate apk app libraries to their phones.

As i said earlier, there's a reason why many programmers remain dirt poor grin

tobeski: iphones but present on androids, or any other platform for that matter are
Bluetooth file transfer,
Dude, this is 2012. I cannot remember when last I ever thought about doing a file transfer via bluetooth. If you don't have a data plan to enable you send your files by email, why are you using a smartphone?

tobeski: 3g video calling(not facetime, which uses your data and is only iphone to iphone)
Apart from Facetime, Skype and Tango are just TWO of the tens of video calling apps on iOS that are FREE.
I'm curious about your educational history...you say there's no '3G video calling' and yet complain that Facetime uses your data. What do you understand by '3G'?

tobeski: memory card
usb otg,
multitasking(this used to be the basis for differentiating a smartphone from others until even feature phones started having it)
You can spec out your iPhone up to 64GB in size. And not all Android phones have MicroSD slots. The two current best Android phones (Galaxy Nexus and HTC One X) do not have memory card slots. neither of those two even have any models with above 32gb internal storage!

The iPhone has had multitasking since iOS 4. Why are you so uninformed?

tobeski: java support
.zip folder support
flash,
Java? This is 2012 o! Why are you still living in the stone age? Who uses java apps anyway?
.zip folder support is an EXTREMELY niche item. I struggle to see the relevance here
Flash is dying a slow, painful death and often leads to reduced battery life. The absence of flash was a bigger concern years ago but now most web devs are fleeing from Flash and most videos streaming services are moving to HTML5.

tobeski: much better cameras,
ability to save web pages(hard to believe right?),
fm radio, sum phones eg N8 even have fm transmitter i.e the phone becomes the radio station
The iPhone 4S has a top tier camera, easily one of the best out there. Were you inebriated when you wrote this 'better camera' crap?
I have been using smartphones since 2004 from Nokia Series 60 to Windows Mobile to iOS and some dabbling with Android. Never have I wanted to save a webpage. if you had said 'save music' or stuff like that I may have conceded a point to you.
FM radio is no big loss. A huge swathe of the Android portfolio do not have FM radios built in. Why exactly are you babbling about the Nokia N8 which runs Symbian?

tobeski: suppport for divx and many other video and music formats
Perhaps the only sensible point so far

tobeski: Also because of the freedom developers have when writing apps for android you get more brilliant apps with infinite possibilities.
I think even the most rabid Android fanboy will admit that the apps on iOS are generally of visible higher quality than those on android. Can you name just ONE of those 'brilliant apps with INFINITE possibilities'?

tobeski: The list is endless Apple is also notorious for their poor hardware with antenna issues over heating easily breakable screens etc
But if you're content with calling, messaging, photo/music playing and playing with endless apps then you're iphone
but if you want the full power of a smartphone with no limitations, full customisation and more value for your money then you're android
Choose your sides and let the smartphone wars wage on
Apple is famous for the excellent build quality of their Phones. The glass screens on the iPhone 4 and 4S are breakable but not 'easily breakable'. And they are a good sight better quality than the cheap, plasticky builds of many of the 'high-end' Android devices. The current iPhone 4S has NO antenna issues, no issues with overheating and is one of the most beautiful phones out there, from an industrial design standpoint.

In conclusion, I have to say you know little of what you talk about. Stick to Android if you will but stop this ignorant misinformation you're spewing. Some of your points like 'no Java support' are downright laughable grin

ekwah: His opinion, fullstop. Has anyone cared to reason out which wine the bible talked about? How can one say Jesus made ALCHOHOLIC drinks from water? Does the word wine directly mean achoholic? I really find the way some people twist bible verses to suit them size quite interesting. Seek the truth guys.

In the Bible, verses to show God approves of wine are speaking about unfermented juice. Verses that expose the evils of wine are speaking about intoxicating wine.

Genesis 9:20-26 - Noah became drunk; the result was immorality and family trouble.
Proverbs 20:1 - Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging.
Proverbs 4:17 - Alcoholic drink is called the wine of violence.
Proverbs 23:19-20 - A wise person will not be among the drinkers of alcoholic beverages.
1 Corinthians 6:10 - Drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of God
Thessalonians 5:6-7 - Christians are to be alert and self-controlled, belonging to the day. Drunkards belong to the night and darkness.

I understand what Pastor Chris wanted to say, but I do not think he said it well enough. The bible says it all, look into it and stop posting ignorant comments on nairaland please. cool
Where does it say that the wine Jesus made from water was non alcoholic? For the guests to be praising it as the best wine they'd ever tasted, you just KNOW it was alcoholic. The Bible makes many references to wine from grapes. NOT grape juice.

Akainzo: You have shown again that you still lacked comprehension abilities, you know the words but are lost with the meanings. Below is my original post that you initially replied to.

Now let me analyze for you, in simple language to make it easier for you to understand.

If SLS does not want to pay anything more than the 880 Billion earmarked for fuel subsidy in 2012, then his cause is helped by the price of crude crashing to $50 since the amount of subsidy is then reduced to almost non-existent that Nigeria should not be in trouble due to fuel subsidy payments.

If the price of crude drops to $85, while the 2012 budget is based on $72, then Nigeria would still not be in trouble of a deficit as we are still earning higher than our budgeted figure. However, there would be little in the excess crude account (or Sovereign Wealth Fund as SLS wants it) for the FGN to spend as they may want, but it does not mean they would not have excess money since they can make savings from the amount saved from not paying fuel subsidies.

If the price of crude crashes to $50 however, SLS should not bother about fuel subsidy as that would not be his problem but the deficit that even the 880Billion earmarked for subsidy would not be able to plug. Thus he should not have been hammering on total fuel subsidy removal as if that is the major spend item that would ensure that a crash to $50 does not impact the economy or the 2012 budget implementation.

Hope I have painted to you what I captured in that my small reply that your little brain couldn't understand.
You STILL don't get it, you dolt!
Sanusi is not talking about any 'cause being helped' if oil prices drop. He is not talking about subsidy payment if the per barrel cost of crude oil drops to $50. What he worries about (AS CLEARLY STATED IN THE ARTICLE) is that the $50 per barrel scenario does not occur and meet a Nigeria with little savings to cushion the shock.

I have no idea how you're reading this article. If you have issues comprehending written English, I cannot help you.
Politics › Re: Oya Na! Sanusi Pushes For Complete REMOVAL Of Fuel Subsidy by texazzpete(m): 1:27pm On Apr 16, 2012
Seun: The subsidy won't be a greater problem for Nigeria if the price of oil drops. I don't know why Sanusi keeps saying this. If the price of crude oil drops, the cost of providing the fuel subsidy will drop by a similar percentage. If the oil price rises, it will also go up.
Seun,
The key to what Sanusi is saying is evident in this quote from the OP

Mr Sanusi also said that a sharp fall in oil prices could spell big trouble for Nigeria.

“There will be a very bad day and a lot of gnashing of teeth if the oil price crashes and we haven’t saved a thing,” he said
It is fairly obvious that Sanusi is not saying Subsidy payments will be crippling for Nigeria if the oil price drops. He is saying a very large drop in oil price will catch a Nigeria with little savings unaware. Hence the 'we haven't saved a thing' part.

Sanusi is talking about the current opportunity cost of the subsidy (reduced savings) and not any future subsidy payments at a low oil price.

Akainzo: Now you come up with the nonsense you wrote above pretending to have knowledge on what you have no clue about. I have highlighted the different areas of Sanusi's statements and clearly he is definitely concerned about govt paying more for more for subsidy in 2012 than budgeted for. And he is clearly speaking from 2 sides of his mouth.

That I have no savings does not mean that I would not do what I have budgeted for! The budget is based on a benchmark of $72, yet he is saying the entire budget could be at risk even if the crude price drops to $85, now tell me which voodoo economics is that? The only way our budget could be at risk at $85 would be that the excess money that could be saved into the SWF, the govt of the day has some hidden plans for it, and therefore they are concerned that the money would not accrue or would not be enough.

I am not easily hoodwinked by stories, I look beyond the surface, especially at the numbers. Read the entire interview again and check how many times he mentioned fuel subsidies and how many times he mentioned savings. You indeed are an educated illiterate, knowing nothing but covering up with grammar. grin
Your attempt at changing the goal posts is as obvious as it is laughable. Go and re-read your initial post...you made it clear that your understanding of this discussion from Sanusi was that 'the FG would not be able to pay subsidy at $50 per barrel'. I rightly called you out on that brainless assumption of yours.

If you had showed consistent use of your brain cells and posted your much more sensible concerns on talks of 'deficit' at $85 per barrel, I never would have had cause to doubt the quality of your education. I enjoin you to summon the required courage to admit that your initial post was brainless. That is the first step to your redemption grin

Has SLS forgotten that if oil prices crashes to $50, then there would be no need to pay subsidy. Or is he telling us that the government would pay subsidy irrespective of the actual price of crudehuh
This quoted post above is an excellent example of an 'educated illiterate'. grin

Sanusi is NOT complaining about not being able to pay subsidies if oil prices crash to say $50. He is concerned that we do not have any meaningful savings to cushion the devastating effects of such a price shortfall, and is pushing for a reduction in Government expenditure on subsidies which should lead to increased savings.
