I read some analysts who said the US are sending troops to Kony because of the discovery of oil and gas reserves in Uganda and that was why they supported Museveni in changing the constitution and removing term limits and rigging himself back to power just like the dictator Paul Biya of Cameroon. They gave the Nobel Peace Prize to Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia who was a sponsor of Charles Taylors NPDF during the war in other to sway votes her way. The fact is that just like the Berlin Conference of 1886, there is another scramble for Africa. Obama is a wamonger, he promised Americans to take them out of Afghanistan and Iraq, but has only being able to start another war in Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Syria (if not for Russia and China veto) and now he is invading Uganda while looking for every excuse to attack Iran and Venezuela and putting Robert Mugabe in his sights. What happens to American using its weight to encourage negotiations, Zimbabwe who has a 'tyrant' as a leader almost got bombed by NATO like Ivory Coast if not for Russia veto at the UN over an election dispute, but today despite all the western sanctions their economy has picked up and Morgan Tsvangirai has been exposed by Wikileaks as a CIA asset. It is the ordinary Ugandans who will suffer from the American bombs and have their environment destroyed when these guys start full oil drilling to help their ailing economies. Obama doesnt listen to Americans he thinks he can continue to use the main stream media to manipulate events and get the world on his wrong side.
See, this is why i despise you nutbag consipracy theorists masquerading as Pan-Africanists. We NEVER see you dogs talk about the rapes in Congo, the genocide in Darfur or the killings and mutilations carried out by the LRA. All you dolts care about is pontificating about the 'CIA', 'american hegemony' and 'warmongering'. You people do not care about Africans or Africa. Black suffering to you louts is just another tool to lay blame that the door of the 'imperialists'. You sicken me! |
pc guru:Thanks for the explanation. But my point is, he already stated his goals 1. Be able to launch apps right from the browser 2. Play Mp3 files from the browser. Google's ChromeOS does these tasks admirably, so there's already a solution available. The underlying tech is secondary. |
worldbest:So does this mean you haven't heard of Google's ChromeOS? This just seems like a load of wasted effort to me, considering the fact that your initial goals are already admirably met by Google. |
udezue:I suspect you would feel differently about the fellow if one of your relations was among the people blown to smithereens in Abuja, Jos, Maiduguri and other places. |
harakiri:Leave them let them be talking. After mu uncle got robbed 3 times in 6 months in his own house in Mowe, he ran back to his rented apartment in ikorodu ![]() |

One year agao, Sanusi was being praised as a brave and courageous man who has stood up to the Senate without flinching. People were even beginning to take note of his strict principled stand against corruption. One year later, thanks to a concerted campaign by members of CAN, the man is suddenly being called a 'bigot' by people who cannot even muster up one shred of evidence or proof to support these claims. Fools! The CAN bigwigs need the corrupt leaders in power to continue oiling their coffers. Nigerians truly deserve their leaders! |
mekaboy:What a dunce you are! Did the naira not drop from 115 to a dollar to 140 in Soludo's tenure? |
Sun of god:No. You just don't know anything about economics to be able to logically dispute Sanusi's explanation. Hence you reach for fearmongering and FUD. Dolt! |
blink182:Surprised? Damn right ![]() I'm sorry but there are no emulators for the BB Storm. It's an ancient, underpowered phone. |
Apple playing catch up?! the iPhone 4S has a processor that is only marginally slower than that in the best Android phone now (Galaxy S II). However it easily makes up for that by totally destroying the GPU in the GSII. Not to mention the higher res screen and much better camera. However, i'm disappointed, i'd hoped for a bigger screen. u2 1 day:Android also has the same icon grid layout. IMHO, the most beautiful mobile OS out there is Windows Phone 7 u2 1 day:In a matter of hours, the stock price jumped straight back. Happy now? ![]() |
Wait, what the heck does this have to do with Politics?! |
Beaf:All these noble schemes in Nigeria have been proposed before, all ending in abject failure. Please remind us of the reason why the billions we had in the Excess Crude Account were shared out to the Governors. Did they not claim that the money would be used to massively improve their states and provide a better life for the common man? Yet the money has since been completely embezzled! At times when you blindly defend these nauseating plans, I wonder if you even realize that this is the same country that your children will inherit as their own. |
There's at best only a 2% chance that this story isn't made up. Heck, make that 1% ![]() |
OOG:90% of Android tablets come with office apps (Quickoffice, documents to Go) built in. I can't imagine that this will be different. Also, he'll be able to access his local files too. So he isn't exactly limited to Amazon's content services. |
Ten Kobo:My brother, I tire o! |
Texther:A POPE in England?! a POPE in England?! Are you freaking kidding me?! So you're one of those bleeping dullards in Nigeria that only exists to deprive others of Oxygen. No, this your dullness is unforgivable!!! I have been on Nairaland since 2005. This is the most brain dead, imbecilic comment I have ever seen posted here* * believe me, I have seen many. |
last sunday 2nd oct,T .b Joshua said that, nigeria and guinea match will be tough and nigeria my likely not qualify ,infact he said that the result is not favourable to nigeria ,that he wonder how a big nation like nigeria will not qualify for such event, That it is b/c of lack of love among nigerians and lack of peace. But he said it can be changed but not alone , refaring to what he did at last world cup qulifying match and last under 17 games . He said if they will come together ,i belive he means that ,sia sia and all his team and crew should come together to him. That God can upturn or change the situation,
Very ambiguous 'prediction'. The 'men of God' sef and their desire to see over-reliance on Pastors. What happened to asking people to pray? Why do they HAVE to go and meet with the man of God? I thought the whole purpose of being Born Again was to be filled with the Holy Spirit. We are always being assailed with imagery of Christians being massively spiritually inferior to their pastors. Not good at all ![]() |
otumfour:the only thing iOS has ever been accused of swiping from Android is the new notification system. Did you ever see a picture of how Android looked before the iPhone announcement in 2007? |
samby38:Nah The first lesson people learn online is this Anonymity + Audience = Anarchy ![]() I'm quite sweet offline when you get to know me ![]() Go and sin no more, okay? |
Wallie:You speak with wisdom! As someone who purchased over 4 Nook Colors in the past, i'm looking forward to buying a couple of Kindle Fires just to play around with. They'll make excellent gifts too ![]() |
Djcn:'Bigoted iFan'?! Don't make me laugh. Just because I can confidently tell you that this is not nearly an 'ipad killer' i'm now a 'bigoted iFan' abi? You seem to struggle with English language. You claimed that the Kindle Fire has 'so many cool features'. I've asked you to name them, especially excluding the Amazon exclusive features that will not be available in Nigeria. Instead of rising to the challenge you're taking the easy way out. Djcn:I implore you to flee from lies. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 has not been released anywhere in the world. Always strive to speak the truth at all times. Djcn:We are talking about this Kindle Fire NOW, not any future version. Please restrict your analysis to this. Djcn:I don't know what you're smoking, but in case you've forgotten, data bundles in Nigeria have crippling data limits. I'd much rather have my 10Gb of music and videos on demand instead of having to stream them every time I want to play music. Cloud storage would be useless to you when you have to take a trip by road from Lagos to Benin. Djcn:Cool story, but what has this got to do with this article? Djcn:iPad Rival =/= iPad killer. Show me how many analysts called the Kindle Fire and iPad killer. Yes, the Kindle Fire will take some sales away from the iPad, but it's much more likely to hurt sales of regular Android tablets. |
Right, so I don't know what "reposition" or "affiliation" look like in this context. Does reposition = make LASU this university attractive to all these kids going abroad? If so, probably won't work out too well. Or does he want to make a new flagship campus, one jointly owned/managed by Lagos and some foreign well-regarded university? To use a Georgia analogy, maybe for him "reposition" means create a Georgia Tech to LASU's University of Georgia (Georgia Tech is the best public school in Georgia, very well-regarded, much harder to get into than UGA and also costs more money.) We are lacking details on how exactly he wants to achieve his goal.
The article is rather clear once you take a more than cursory look at it. He is talking about improving LASU and if possible, signing agreements with some of these foreign Unis to perhaps offer some courses in affiliation with LASU. Sounds like wishful thinking to me. |
Princeofilorin:Why you no use your real username na. Prince ofilorin is a known and trusted name. Na when I see Princebawa I react. ![]() Ok, I will be wary of any 'Prince' username from now on ![]() |
I have an uncle who sent his two kids to Canada for university. They plan on returning to Nigeria at some point to work. If the University of Toronto decided to open up a campus in Lagos, why wouldn't my uncle just have his kids go there? They get a world-class education and he saves a lot of cash (even if they charge the same exact tuition, he'll save money on accommodation.) Is this not a win for both my uncle and Lagos? Even U of T wins (well, possibly.) Like I said, I don't see why this is a dumb idea. Perhaps it is, but it isn't obvious to me.
The article talks about 'repositioning' LASU, not necessarily about foreign Unis opening a branch in Nigeria. Please correct me if i'm wrong. |
@Beaf 'Computers'? 'e-education'? You Do realize we're talking about Primary schools, don't you? |
4llerbuntu:Don't be silly. You won't spend more than an additional 30 - 40 bucks bringing it down. I can help you snag one if you wish. 4llerbuntu:If it's just an idle project, fine. But sometimes i worry when I see people go to the extreme. |
Djcn:Here's a quick tip: Do not be so eager to air your ignorance out in public. The Amazon kindle fire is nowhere near the 'best 7 inch table in existence' it lacks a microphone, bluetooth and camera. It has only 8GB and is not expandable. It has no access to the Android market There are several 7 inch Honeycomb tablets out there with the full google experience and better hardware specs. Not to even mention the imminent Galaxy Tab 7 with a 1.5Ghz dual core processor. What the Kindle fire has going for it is its price and its access to Amazon's goodies. But as i said earlier, this is nearly useless to Nigerian customers who will not be able to stream music and video from Amazon Prime. So I ask you again, apart from the price, what other killer features does it have for the Nigerian customer? Nobody (and I repeat NOBODY!!) is daft enough to call the Kindle Fire an 'iPad Killer'. It probably will help kill several other Android tablets, though, but the iPad will sit very prettily on the top for a while to come. |
