42 years in power. Is that the kind of 'true African leader' you want?

You are posting angrily because you fear 'recolonization'. Hundreds of thousands of Libyans are celebrating because they have just been freed from shackles. Abeg speak of things you know about jo!

Malaria killing 1 million African kids yearly. Do Nairaland's 'Pan-Africanists' care? No.
Thousands of women raped in Congo. Do Nairaland's 'Pan-Africanists' care? No.
Intense suffering in Zimbabwe. Do they care? No! Mugabe is their 'hero'!
Killings in Darfur. Do they care? No.

All they lie in wait for is any news of the US so they can come and whine and bleat about 'recolonization'. Nonsense.

igbo2011:
Gaddafi did more for his people than any other African leader today.  Everyone in his country has a house, free healthcare, free education (even outside of Libya) and he rose the life expectancy of people by 30 years during his rule.  He tried to start the African Monetary Fund which is $70 billion of non interest loans.  This would be used to help fund infrastructure projects in Africa.  Instead of the parasite of an organization called the IMF.  He helped fund a satellite that would be used by Africans.  Europeans lost $500 million a year because of this. Gaddafi was a man of his people.  He was a pan-Africanist like Kwame Nkruhmah.  He put his resources to his people.  People recieved money from the oil wealth in Libya.

While our rulers(not leaders) steal all the money put them into foreign accounts to benefit foreigner's ecconomy.  How can money cycle within an economy if there are no money in banks? Our rulers don't fix roads, education, or hospitals so people die from things that can be fixed.

Gaddafi died trying while our leaders are looting all of our wealth. Once we have no more oil (unless economy diversifies) we will have no money.

Don't believe in the western media.  They try to say bad things about people who tryto help their people.  Like Castro, Chavez and Mugabe.  If the british choose to fund boko haram or MEND with billions then Nigeria can be just like this.

Kai! Typical Nigerian.
Someone doles out houses, money and a few other chattels and you can happily forget that you have been enslaved for 42 years by a despotic tyrant. Talk about selling your birthright for a bowl of porridge. Are you that cheap?

No wonder people like Adedibu held sway for so long in Ibadan. You're no different from those thugs in Ibadan who would slit their mother's throats for Adedibu thanks to the bowls of hot Amala the old goat gave them every afternoon.

Lol, so i guess u believe that all the black people in libya are mercenaries right? Even this week when the gunfight broke out in Tripoli, the rebels ran around pulling blacks out of cars and their homes saying they were mercenaries.

Why the hell would mercenaries stick around after the govt fell, and be driving around in cars or sitting in their homes during a gunbattle that they are paid to fight in?

Really? Are u believing EVERYTHING the NTC says?

Most of the armed people fighting Ghaddafi say they dont take orders from NTC.
Ordinary Libyans are celebrating wildly and you're here complaining.
Nigerians should recoil in shame anyway, the Libyans have done what Nigerians would never dream of doing; stepping outside their comfort zone to challenge despotic rulers.

Before NATO and the NTC, remember huge crowds of libyans starting off the revolution?

Didn't you see the guy pulling his hair behind, like its a cat?And they removed his clothes. Was it so hard to arrest him?
What was the celebration all about? killing him? fine hes gone with his dream and vision 4 africa, next?  the west is having a 5 course meal as they fire in the air
Killing Gaddafi is not an achievement. Rebuilding a country from ruins is.
Are you on crack?! Do you know what it is to have a despotic ruler in charge with absolute power for 42 years?! And you think this is not something worth celebrating for ordinary libyans?

Sorry, Libya is not 'in ruins'. In a few years, they'll be back to normal without a despotic, half mad ruler terrorizing them.

What dream and vision for Africa? Oppression, suppression of people by sit-tight leaders? Nonsense!

Yeah, the Droid RAZR looks like where it's at.
However, the smart thing will be to wait until CES 2012 in January next year. Tegra 3 tablets will start showing up december this year (starting with Asus Transformer prime) and you can bet that Tegra 3 phones will hit the market in a flood early next year.

The Galaxy Nexus uses an SGX 540 GPU which is weaker than the GPU in the Galaxy S 2 and which is thoroughly outclassed by the SGX 543 MP2 GPU in the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S (another downer)

When I heard that it would have a 4.65 inch screen, I thought it would compensate by having a very small bezel. However, Samsung and Google did not see fit to make the Phone into a reasonable size.

Forget all the internet hype now. When people get their hands on demo units in stores, you'll see more people leaning towards the Galaxy S 2. I'm not a hippie with oversized baggy jeans. I wear formal trousers to work, there's no way i'm gonna carry around a brick like that.

Hopefully Samsung has the sense to keep the Galaxy S 3 at 4.3 inches.

Agence France Presse (AFP) has just reported that the Nigerian army has destroyed 2000 illegal refineries in the Niger Delta in the past 3 months.  Link  http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5g-tK9TkFF-JjNQZv64uET7eE4HoQ?docId=CNG.ea2d83b634da8ac0dda3193eefc51267.671

Isn't it interesting that we have 2000 illegal refineries working at full capacity in Nigeria, while the state owned legal refineries are either suffering breakdowns or working below capacity?   Is this not the more reason why the refineries should be privatised, as the Nigerian state has shown that it cannot manage any commercial concern efficiently or profitably?   Over to you Nairalanders, let's have your views.
Why don't you take a look at one of these illegal refineries before you start comparing them to a full fledged refinery?

The illegal ones are very small scale, crude, unsafe and produces lots of pollution. They cannot be 'privatized'

Dude, you need to stop airing your ignorance in public. SIRI started life as a DARPA funded Artificial Intelligence project.

From Wikipedia
Siri is a spin-out from the SRI International Artificial Intelligence Center, and is an offshoot of the DARPA-funded CALO project, described as perhaps the largest artificial-intelligence project ever launched.
This is generations ahead of the voice command features found in Android, Windows Phone 7.5 and earlier versions of iOS.

Your 'finite' comment is pretty meaningless. Even the world's most advanced AI systems have a finite amount of things it can comprehend and act on.

Download manager more accurate compared to speedtest.net

speedtest was written in actionscript and what happens at the background is the server tries to upload and download data and does the calculation based on the size of data it was able to transfer compared to how long it took.

that process is flawed because the performance of the flash player at the test time is questionable, asides that
Actionscript does not support parallel processing, and there is absolutely no way you can instruct flash to take up all network bandwidth from a single browser.
windows update, antivirus update, or even externally programs can interfere with your speedtest.net result

download manager are able to break this limitation with multiple thread downloads.

what the download manager does it use more than one thread to get same file from server, in my case, i used 16 threads which most of the time will cripple other web communications, allowing you to fully get the max bandwidth obtainable.
take it as opening 16 firefox tabs and downloading from each.
What you should be showing is the real world speed users are likely to get from these our HSDPA networks while carrying out most online tasks on their smartphones, tablets or computers. Using a download manager with multiple parallel downloads of the same file to track the max download speed you'll get is rather misleading, IMHO.

I don't agree with your firefox tabs analogy. The time taken to load one webpage in a firefox tab is what you should be tracking and is what speedtest tries to report.

99% of users are far more concerned with how long it'll take to stream a video from YouTube or load through facebook albums.

Gosh!
I am yet to fathom
why twenty-two grown-ups should be running about in the field chasing one bunkum-- football, and call it sports.
The worst part of the whole shebang -- and the most infernal-- is people's obsession with this nonsense as they are held spellbound and glued to the TV watching it. They discuss it as though it were their private business or puts food on their tables.
In fact some fight and even commit suicide just because of football.
What for?
I can't seem to decipher what bearing a practice such as watching football can have on my life.
They play football, get paid undeservedly.
OR  do they deserve the undue pay they get?
I'm not saying that they shouldn't be properly remunerated. But it's just that what they get is dogmatically excessive, especially amid people's abject and piteous existence. Worse still, they spend the money frivolously and injudiciously, especially on women. C. Ronaldo, I garnered, has twenty-eight girl friends, isn't it an insult on our moral sensibilities and psyche?
In addition to the above, is the harm football has done to our vacuous and callow youths as it is unimaginably abysmal.
These green beings can delightly reel of the names of these footballers, how much they are paid, how many goals they scored, including how many girl friends they have; whereas some can't name ten states in their country.
So, what then is my business with football if directly or indirectly I can't gain anything from it -- financially or otherwise.
Having said the above, I would love to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt that football can have any bearing on my life/personality.
Thanks for your attentiveness!
I have not gained one kobo from you being alive. So what is the point of your life? grin

See how silly your rant sounds?

PS: If we all fast and pray, do you think the guy who holds a gun to your head and forces you to watch football will let you go?

Obama Sends US Troops to Uganda
October 14, 2011
By Tony Cartalucci - BLN Contributing Writer

http://www.blacklistednews.com/Obama_Sends_US_Troops_to_Uganda/16138/0/38/38/Y/M.html

Nobel Peace Prize-President quietly opens 8th US battlefront.

While America occupies Iraq and Afghanistan, wages covert war on Pakistan, conducts drone attacks on Yemen and Somalia, bombards Libya, and positions for a wider confrontation with Iran and Syria, Nobel Peace Prize Laurette President Obama has now quietly, without much fanfare, sent 100 US troops to help Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni crush rebels threatening his 25 year dictatorship.

In what is essentially a "reverse-Libyan-style" intervention, the US is sending troops to crush, not assist rebels rising up against their despotic ruler. Ironically, just as with Libya's rebels, Uganda's rebels are also listed as a foreign terrorist organization by the US State Department. Instead of the corporate-financier contrived International Criminal Court issuing fictitious warrants for Uganda's head of state, as was done with Qaddafi in Libya, it is the Ugandan rebel leader, Joseph Kony, who is being targeted.

Both the Ugandan government (with US assistance) and the rebels, known as the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), are accused of perpetrating heinous atrocities against their enemies and civilian populations in their decades long conflict. In particular, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has just recently presided over the mass murdering and displacement of 20,000 of his own people on behalf of British corporations who sought to construct tree plantations on their land. US and British military assistance and business deals with the Ugandan government have been a ubiquitous feature throughout Museveni's perpetual, unending term as president.

While mutilated victims of the LRA are just now being paraded in front of the public to frame the recent US troop deployment as another "humanitarian intervention," it is more than likely that geopolitical aspirations, not humanitarian concerns, are driving this agenda. This is especially so considering just how equally abhorrent the Ugandan government's human rights record is.

The LRA has often been harbored by the Sudanese government (now the South Sudanese government). Sudan has served as a proxy battlefield between the West and China for control over of its vast oil holdings and ultimately as part of a greater battle to control Africa's resources. Sudan appears to have used the LRA as a sort of armed buffer between them and their neighbors, in particular, Uganda, ruled by an eager servant of the Anglo-American agenda.

Surely, as Africa, a forsaken continent, is already written off in the minds of many Americans, little concern and few eyebrow will be lifted as their Nobel Peace Prize-wearing president sends yet more troops off to war there, in a global military expansion quickly and alarmingly approaching the scale and scope of Adolf Hitler's expansion across Europe and Northern Africa during World War II. This is difficult to deny when the final tally is done - the United States is conducting either covert or overt military operations in at least 8 nations - Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Iran, Libya, Pakistan, and now Uganda - and has 820 military installations in at least 135 countries. As Wall Street and London seek global hegemony, the price Americans pay as this tally grows will only increase. However far flung Uganda may seem, every inch of expansion by the globalists is one inch less for free humanity.

Identify the corporate-financier interests engineering and driving this agenda, boycott and replace them.

I was just wondering why People hate the Bible.

The bible is hated so much that in many strictly Islamic and Stalinist countries the bible is banned in a bid to keep it out of the reach of the common man.

In the western world it is ridiculed, defamed , contradicted , maligned and the truths turned into fables.

During the middle ages the catholic church ensured that the Laity and peasants had no personal copies.

But why  huh If this book is so useless and aimless and objectionless, why spend so much time, money , effort and in some cases blood just to completely destroy it  undecided

It always says something when people feel insecure just because of a book and it contents !!

In my opinion it is not the bible per se , but the author that is hated.  Yes GOD and his SON Christ JESUS.

Contained within the bible are the nature , thoughts , actions and intentions of GOD.

It therefore goes to say that those who do not have the nature of GOD cannot bear to stand HIM or his word and would instead try to ridicule his book to their own damnation.

I adjure thee, you unwise ones, to humble yourselves under the mighty hand of GOD and read the  precious truths of the BIBLE that will both save your soul and deliver you from the eternal wrath.
Why do you hate Ogun so much?
