Though i have never been to libya before, but i have friends not i, 2 ,3 4 or 5, i have more than 10 friends that confirm what the poster said, libya was a nanny state it gave its citizens good lifee, liberty, justice and equallity. the reason the imperialist got rid of gadaffi is simple. OIL and his relentless pan-africanism

In 1992, 45 African nations formed RASCOM (Regional African Satellite Communication Organisation) aimed at bringing down the cost of communications in the continent. Africa was paying some US$ 500 million a year as satellite fees to French and other European companies, and the call charges in the continent were the highest in the world. RASCOM had a plan to launch its own African satellite. The project would cost US$ 400 million. For 14 years, they went behind the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other donors. These imperialist-run institutions made borrowing difficult by placing tough conditions, unperturbed, the comrade offered US$ 300 million of his country's money. My Question to Anti-Gadaffi people on this thread is . Do you think if the only thing libya produces is lectuse and brocholi, do you think the NATO will invade libya? without going into much detail, try and google the gold dinar and african oil or perhap read this linked article "http://www.goldstockbull.com/articles/libya-invasion-gaddafi-plan-gold-dinar"

Gadaffi throughout his leadership have been against occupation of any sorts, yes, he did supported the mandela campaign for freedom against the europeans, he was there for the IRA same as the USA, he was there for the black sudanese , he was also there for other oppressed people in the world.

Though its been documented that the great man was ousted because his people no longer needed him there, just 1% of his people dont want him againt the 99% that want him, unfortunately the NATO and the impreialist saw that , together with their media propaganda the end was near for the great man. As at oct 22, the obama administration rating is just a mere 42%, that means 50% of the american people dont wwant him, moreso, David Cameron's personal rating is now in negative territory While 42% say he is doing a good job, 47% say bad. with this statistics, does that means NATO should now invade and kill this head of states?

Gadaffi is no saint, during his reign, some people did died, directly or indirectly mostly radical islamic fundamentalist and he was supported by the west in taking care of this radical islamist. Nobody have killed thier citizens more than Geroge Bush and tony blair for sending the american and british innocent souls to an illegal war but you never read about this evil tyrants. Gsdaffi was called a dictator, tyrant, mad dog etc, yet, the likes of Prince charles, tony blair, gorden brown, nicolas sackozy, belusconi, obama , hillary clinton and other western diplomats shook his hand, dined and wined with him within the last 3 years of his life, what has change within now and then?

we have seen the asssinations of progressive african leaders from patrice lumumba to savimbi to mugabe and now gadaffi. isnt it time africans open their eyes and see the evil the white imperialist are and their determination to invade, enslave the people of africa, the modis operandi is always the same, character assasinate them b4 u let his people finish the job.

Libyans seek democracy, i give them 42 months , lets wait and see.
Bullcrap!
I see you happily avoided mentioning how Gadaffi was the largest single sponsor of terrorist activities for decades. I see you fail to mention his involvement in the Lockerbie bombing that killed loads of innocent men, women and Children.
I also see how you glossed over the decades of repression and oppression of dissent and opposition. How can someone be a 'great leader' when opposing views are not only not tolerated, but often met by a death sentence?

Gadaffi's downfall did not come about because he 'opposed the west'. Was it not Libyans that braved guns and bombs in Benghazi and rid the town of pro-gadaffi troops? Was it not Libyans that rose up against him in Misrata? Were they blond and blue-eyed?

Weren't you there when the CAN president Ayo Oritsejafor was telling everyone that Uduaghan's victory was 'ordained by God' and was 'God's word for Delta people'? With backing of the corrupt elite and the clergy, the man is sitting pretty on the throne!

http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/newsextra/5141-uduaghan-in-victory-thanksgiving.html
The President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has advised politicians in Delta State against unwarranted attack on the governor-elect, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan over his victory in the governorship election.
Speaking at his Word of Life Bible Church during a Thanksgiving Service for Uduaghan and his deputy, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama, over their hard-fought victory at the polls, Oritsejafor cautioned that attacking or harbouring evil thoughts against Uduaghan could amount to attacking God over his choice.
The CAN President’s advice came on the backdrop of threats by some members of the opposition over the electoral victory of Uduaghan. He warned that the era of violence in the state had passed, adding that anybody who attempts to drag the state back to the dark days of violence would face the wrath of God.
So you see, apparently if you criticize Uduaghan's administration, you risk being hit by the wrath of God (according to your CAN president)  grin

Libyans needed the West to get rid of Gaddafi and his family and the West need Libya to give them a prime position in the oil industry ahead of China and Russia. They invested in Libya's quest for freedom and I don't see any harmful relationship in that. Propagandist like you talk as if the West would lift oil in Libya for free while their citizens look on like morons! This is what the kiddies here who thrive on those conspiracy theorist youtube videos don't realize. While access to oil or oil related contracts may be a motivational factor, the western nations pay full price for the oil, no discounts. There are African Union and UN peacekeepers in Somalia now, supporting the fragile Government that offers the only hope for stability in the country.
On the other hand you have the Al Shabaab militia which has very strong ties to Al Qaeda. They use Sov-Bloc era weapons like AKs and RPG-7s which have been handed to them by their brethren in the middle east. Which western country will sell AK-47 rifles to a terrorist group with Al Qaeda affiliations?

Nigeria didn't qualify for Nation's cup not because he's incompetent but because the football administration in Nigeria is next to nothing. What are they doing to help the local leagues, develop the the stadia, help youth football e.t.c? The honest truth is, we erroneously believe we are still force to reckon with in soccer, but we are conviniently in the back seat. The cancerous corruption in our system will continue to hurt every thing we venture in if we fail to change our ways. Even if Nigeria hires sir Alex Ferguson, he can't do anything about our woes, the real problem is CORRUPTION in our football administration and that's what we should take care of.
Please tell me one thing Siasia has won at Senior level football as a coach. Just mention ONE achievement. Thanks.

THE LAST TESTAMENT OF MUAMMAR GHADAFFI

Hero Martyr Muammar Gaddafi in his own words:

For 40 years, or was it longer, I can’t remember, I did all I could to give people houses, hospitals, schools, and when they were hungry, I gave them food, I even made Benghazi into farmland from the desert, I stood up to attacks from that cowboy Reagan, when he killed my adopted orphaned daughter, he was trying to kill me, instead he killed that poor innocent child, then I helped my brothers and sisters from Africa with money for the African Union, did all I could to help people understand the concept of real democracy, where people’s committees ran our country, but that was never enough, as some told me, even people who had 10 room homes, new suits and furniture, were never satisfied, as selfish as they were they wanted more, and they told Americans and other visitors, they needed “democracy,” and “freedom,” never realizing it was a cut throat system, where the biggest dog eats the rest, but they were enchanted with those words, never realizing that in America, there was no free medicine, no free hospitals, no free housing, no free education and no free food, except when people had to beg or go to long lines to get soup, no, no matter what I did, it was never enough for some, but for others, they knew I was the son of Gamal Abdel Nasser, the only true Arab and Muslim leader we’ve had since Salah’ a’ Deen, when he claimed the Suez Canal for his people, as I claimed Libya, for my people, it was his footsteps I tried to follow, to keep my people free from colonial domination—from thieves who would steal from us— now, I am under attack by the biggest force in military history, my little African son, Obama wants to kill me, to take away the freedom of our country, to take away our free housing, our free medicine, our free education, our free food, and replace it with American style thievery, called “capitalism,” but all of us in the Third World know what that means, it means corporations run the countries, run the world, and the people suffer, so, there is no alternative for me, I must make my stand, and if Allah wishes, I shall die by following his path, the path that has made our country rich with farmland, with food and health, and even allowed us to help our African and Arab brothers and sisters to work here with us, in the Libyan Jammohouriyah, I do not wish to die, but if it comes to that, to save this land, my people, all the thousands who are all my children, then so be it. let this testament be my voice to the world, that I stood up to crusader attacks of NATO, stood up to cruelty, stood up to betrayal, stood up the West and its colonialist ambitions, and that I stood with my African brothers, my true Arab and Muslim brothers, as a beacon of light, when others were building castles, I lived in a modest house, and in a tent, I never forgot my youth in Sirte, I did not spend our national treasury foolishly, and like Salah’a’deen, our great Muslim leader, who rescued Jerusalem for Islam, I took little for myself… in the West, some have called me “mad,” “crazy,” but they know the truth but continue to lie, they know that our land is independent and free, not in the colonial grip, that my vision, my path, is, and has been clear and for my people and that I will fight to my last breath to keep us free, may Allah almighty help us to remain faithful and free"

By Colonel Muamar Gaddafi
I see the imbecilic toad did not mention how he sent his troops into Chad, how he sponsored Rebel movements in Chad and Sudan (the Libyan sponsored Sudanese rebels eventually became the infamous supporter of APC behind much of the killings in Darfur).
He failed to mention how he criminalized dissent in Libya, how critics at home were summarily executed and how critics abroad were killed by special squads of assassins.

He failed to mention the real reason he was loathed and reviled in the West: For decades, Gadaffi was the largest single sponsor of terrorism in the world. And he did it openly.
Ceah is too young and too foolish to know how Gadaffi declared the assassination of Anwar Sadat (the Egyptian leader who brought peace between Israel and Egypt) as a national holiday in Libya.
Ceah is too brainless to know that the so-called 'MArtyr' Gadaffi joined forces with his sons to embezzle billions of Libyan money and transferred ownership of most of the largest industries and companies in Libya to his thieving family.

Finally, Gadaffi's adopted daughter did not die in the missile attack from the US as the man had claimed. It was discovered this year that she had been alive all this while. The strike that targeted Gadaffi's compound that he refers to was in response to a bombing in Berlin carried out by Libyan Agents that killed 2 US troops and injured 79 others.

So much for 'heroic martyr'.

It is funny how some say Ghadaffi is a Brutal Leader, while some say he is a great leader, but one thing that should resonates with  all of us is that he has always try to improve the state of Africa through various means, which none Africa leaders or Western leaders has ever done.

He has orchestrated the creation of United States of Africa, some western nations and some hungry African leader downplayed the effort.

He wanted or introduced the idea of Africa trading their resources with Gold which would raise Africa GDP and economy, since we them in abundant, but it was seen by Western idiots as a threat to their economy and significant shift in power.

This is just a few points that I would like to make,   But before dropping any of reply ask yourself, Am I being blinded by Western Media Propaganda?

I have not claim that Ghadaffi is a God man, know that your life would be better in his hand, than this blood sucking Western Idiots. Many Lybia like Ghadaffi before the uprising before Western Media started pushing the wrong propaganda to hide the real fact.

You dolts talk like a 'United States of Africa' would ever have been a good idea. Gadaffi tried to get Sudan to merge with Libya decades ago. They refused. He tried to merge Libya with Egypt. Anwar Sadat refused! He nearly persuaded the then Tunisian president to merge with Libya. The Tunisian people nearly ate their leader alive for even attempting to agree to such a deal.
He tried to annex Chad forcefully by invading Chad. The Libyan army was decisively defeated.

Now you louts think a 'USA' would ever be possible?

You live in a country that is not even United, yet you think it possible that tens of countries could come together without crisis?

You kids read a few anti-western websites and start thinking you have any brains. Gadaffi was a monster who deserved his fate. He deserved to die worse.

Am praying ceaselessly dat libyans wil regret killing Gaddafi! He is a true african leader. RIP brother

Which redress?

NDLEA has only followed the correct process. Anyone with suspicion of ingested drugs (which would have been seen on a scan) must be kept until either he/she excretes the drugs or enough time passes that it is now 100% certain that all the contents of his bowels have been passed.

NDLEA never came out to 100% confirm that he had drugs in his system. They've only ever claimed that the man was a suspect, and that was after the Nigerian media carried the story.

I never said that doctors should not be paid. I say they MUST not unionize. They must not always seek upward review of pay. Infact they should be signed on to specific term contracts which they must complete or be sued/dragged to jail.

Doctors should not even be in unions. It should be illegal. Human health is not buildings or engineering (my field). I can go on strike and nobody will die. People die from doctors' strikes. Gerrit?

I don't support mass importation of foreign doctors, but if Nigerian doctors will still unionize, I would go for ONE foreign doctor against 10 Nigerian ones. At least patients in the hospitals would be attended to even if not on time.
Nigerian government should look into doctors' unions in Nigeria and ban them. Shikena.

I keep saying this. The bulk of Nigerians are cowards!

The same way Nigerians kept taking the side of the FG against ASUU every time those guys went on strike, just because they 'wanted to graduate'. We kept at this until now all our Universities lie in ruins. Even when graduate assistants were being paid 30k monthly, Nigerians always sided with the corrupt and heartless FG.

How will people who are gainfully employed start lambasting others who only want payment that is in line with the stress of their profession. How many doctors can afford to buy a decent Toyota Camry after working for 2 years? If you really cared about your health, why would you not want your doctors to be as happy as possible?

When will the people of Anambra grow the balls to ask their Government why the strike has lingered on so long, and if he has deigned to offer them anything close to what their counterparts in Lagos, Benin, Rivers etc are earning?

Until we stop this cowardly habit at taking aim only at the weakest targets and start demanding for good governance, we will continue to suffer.

I hate unions; I even hate MEDICAL unions more. They have no conscience and should even be proscribed. Some things are too critical to allow unions in them; eg, Police. In my book, striking doctors should be jailed. Once you sign up to work as a doctor, you must continue working or you quit. That's all. cool
Since it's clear that you have never seen a doctor before, let me be the first to inform you that doctors are human beings too. They have two eyes, two ears and a mouth. Strangely, just like you and me these doctors marry, have families and even have to provide for their families! Can you believe that?
Moreso, these doctors also are rather like you in that they want to buy vehicles, plots of land and even build houses for their families!! Just like you and me!
So these doctors need to get paid commensurately with the work they do. And they do a whole lot of work. Doctors take care of people when they are sick, and just like you and me, they work better when they are happy!
Can you understand that?
So when doctors are aggrieved that their conditions of employment are not up to par with the work they put in, they have three options

1. Put things in Prayer.
2. Take up weapons and begin an armed offensive against the Government
3. Decide to withdraw their services until the Government treats them properly, or until the people of Anambra demand that their Government gets off its butt and do something!

Option 1 is for simpletons. Option 2 won't ever work. Option 3 is what these good men and women are doing. The people of Anambra obviously are enjoying the situation because if they truly were feeling the pinch the Governor would not be resting so easy.

However, surely there is a cheaper way of doing it. Hire Nigerian docs from other states? I dunno.
Yes, it's 'evil' to ask for salaries in line with what your colleagues in the Federal Government employment are earning. You have no idea how much they are earning now, you have no idea how much they are asking for. You come on Nairaland consistently criticizing poor and unjust policies of the FG yet you do not see the hypocrisy in asking these doctors to work non-stop without commensurate remuneration.

By all means, hire Doctors from other states. Except for the fact that doctors from nearly all other states in Nigeria earn higher than the doctors in Anambra State. Any more bright ideas, Einstein?

Most of them get private hospitals, while others are working in private hospitals. So they dnt really care if the strike will last for another 8months,
I cringe when I see dumbasses repeat this same absurd claim. I'd be surprised if more than 3% of the medical doctors have their own clinics.

Where did I say Tinubu was a role model to me? I used their names to highlight the fact that opposition is tolerated in Nigeria far far more than it ever was under Gadaffi. Where the heck did you draw that brainless conclusion from?

Please if you need a free copy of Queen primer and any other English Language textbooks, let me know. Your comprehension of basic written English is sadly lacking.

Seconded!! we always know what we lose, but we don't know what we gain! this country will probably be a mess right after
Libyans have just gained freedom.

If it was just CNN and BBC showing videos of tens of thousands of ordinary Libyans jubilating, you dolts would have had an excuse. Even Al Jazeera and other Arab TV channels show the same footage. Libyans are genuinely happy to see this tyrant and despot gone. Why do you louts think you know more than the people of Libya?

sege baba:
i totally support dat ghadaffi was not dat bad.come to think of it,the GDP and percapita incme of libyans was up in his
How won't these indices be up when the nation was exporting a crapload of oil daily and had only 6 million mouths to feed? Even YOU would have been hard pressed to run Libya without the people seeing some of the oil proceeds. This is in stark contrast to Nigeria where we have 150+ million mouths to feed.

Libyans will not miss the era when stormtroopers could kick down the door, yank away their daddies and bury them in shallow graves with impunity. They will be pleased to have the power to select their own leaders. And they will continue to enjoy all these benefits of the oil because - as i'm tired of explaining to you simpletons - their country sells 1.5 m barrels of oil daily and has a population of only 6 million!

I only wish you cowards had the sense and the balls to be as passionate about rapes in Congo, suffering in Zimbabwe and genocide in Darfur. You people don't care about Africa, stop pretending. You're just a bunch of teenagers who scoff down anything they read on conspiracy theorist websites.

Libya with Ghadhafi was far far better Nigeria any day any time, at least they buy fuel for less than N20 per liter and they have steady electricity, low call rates, very affordable health care system, good roads and large population of educated people, tell me how we better,
How are we better? Well for starters Fashola and Tinubu are still alive. That's more than you can say for many of the Libyan opposition grin

If you truly believe we're worse than Libya, doesn't that make you a coward? I mean, if the 'enjoying' Libyans can move to oust their leader, how much more is expected of you who are 'suffering'?

By 2010, Libya had the highest GDP per capita, Education Index, and Human Development Index in Africa as
well as some of the best health indicators in the
continent.

During Gaddafi's
period of rule many
of Libya's human
development indicators improved.

shame on African State Looterz
The problem was that during Gadaffi's rule, lots of oppression, suppression of human rights, killings of political opponents and exiling of opponents took place. At the same time, the despot was the world's largest supporter and sponsor of terrorism for 2 decades.
Gadaffi's hands are black with the blood of innocents. He deserved his fate!

Every country in the world is modernizing. Every single country in the world has 10000% more hospitals, schools and industries since 1969. What kind of stoopid 'facts' are you presenting?

Adedibu gave many people of Ibadan free meals of Amala every afternoon. Shebi that means he was the best thing to happen to Oyo State?

Libya exports over 1 million barrels of oil daily, with a miniscule population of 6 million people. Even if you distill the greed from Lucky Igbinedion, Ohakim, Ibori and all our thieving Senators and put it in one extra greedy man and make him Libyan president, all these things would have trickled down to the people.

You slaves will sell your birthright for a bowl of porridge. Someone was in power for 42 years, ruling with an evil fist. Yet because of free car and monthly stipend he is the best thing since sliced bread.

Kai! You Nigerians and your poverty mentality!
