First go to sandisk.com and download the latest firmware files for your E260
This is for use in Recovery Mode.

To access Recovery Mode:
-Make sure the player is off (if necessary, hold down the power button for 20 seconds to turn it off)
-Move the hold button to ON (move to the right towards the headphone jack).
-Hold the record button.
-Connect the player to the computer.
-Keep holding the record button till the "new hardware is ready for use" comes up, then realease the record button.

Now you should have a 16MB drive in My Computer. Simply drop the firmware files onto the 16MB drive (via drag-and-drop, or copy-and-paste).

Once that's done, turn off the hold switch, then unplug the player. Check if the issue is now resolved.

lemme know if that helps

Can we for once stop playing the dumb game?

It should be obvious to even a retarded 8 year old that the article in no way explicitly indict Gbenga Obasanjo for fraud. Why post such a misleading title?

I thought such sensationalism was exclusive to the press, it appears that ordinary Nigerians all too easily fall victim to this crappy mode of thinking.

@KDB
1) Yes. I've been through the program before
2) write exams. Pass mark 50. fail an exam, you resit. Fail the resit, it's counted against you as a fail. Fail too many, company has no choice but to release you
3) it's an intensive course, but you should scale through it. To get to this stage means you've got brains
4) Accommodation is good! One person to a room ensures your privacy. Did you really think you'd stay in a 'Hostel' grin
5) Why should that be an issue with you? Don't trust your fellow Nigerians? All lecturers are very good.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by texazzpete(m): 4:26pm On Feb 06, 2008
@KDB
You'll do a whole lot of courses cheesy
The learning environment is splendid, the teaching is very good. Lecturers are usually friendly (since you're a staff, no more Uni bully-boy tactics) and approchable.

lectures usually from 8 - 5, tea/relaxation breaks every hour ( 5 - 15 mins).
Exams!! loads of 'em. Th eonly good thing is the exams are only one hour in duration, so you won't die. it's an intensive programme, and it'll keep you on your toes almost all the way.

but expect to make some of the best pals you'll ever make there.

one more thing. . .

Some of y'all are gonna be silly enough to start sourcing for past reading materials to get a head start. That is the dumbest thing anyone can do, and i strongly discourage anyone from doing anything of that sort. Rest your brains for when its needed. Everything there is taught in a way that you'll pick it up easy.

Ishmael ''unmasked''? But he said he's a technician. Can't see anything new in oyb's posting that points anything contrary to that. He's a technician because he has HND.

I bet you a Petroleum Engineering - HND guy will hold his own anywhere too. And will definitely engage anyone in the oil engineering business to an appreciable level of petroleum reservoir engineering discussion.
Unmasked as in the basis of his argument. He's not arguing to prove a point or to learn anything new or even to pit his logic against anyone else.

He's simply arguing because he's been aggrieved against Engineering graduates for quite a while. Why should this man not turn his spite against the employers that are discriminaing against his kind, instead of hundreds of thousands of Engineers struggling to make Nigeria a better place?

Delta007:
Make I just add another 1 cent,

@engineer1 or whatever u call yourself, for the umpteenth time, a degree DOES NOT make u an Engineer; it makes u a graduate with an Engineering background. Your Experience is what qualifies you as one. It's only in Nigeria that everyone is eager to bear a title. I remember a recent trip to Naija, met one of my old classmates from highschool, who just finished her medical studies from Enugu or somewhere in the East two days prior to when I met her; She walked up to me and said, Delta007, u can now call me a doctor. I chuckled because there's no way on earth anyone would give her any leeway or responsibilities to perform her "experiments" when someone's life is in question. The point is, these are professions where experience is VERY vital and cannot be underestimated.
That's a poor argument there. When you take the oath, then you're a doctor. Have you done your NYSC yet? i edon't think you have, if you had you'd see the miracles these baby doctors pull off in clinics and hospitals everywhere.
You forget that these guys go through clinicals while in school, then go on to do housemanship before even serving.

In my Uni, 400L to 500L dentistry handled pretty much every day-to-day dental treatment for patiens, from root canal treatments to tooth extraction.

Please don't be seen making this kind of argument again o! You seem like a reasonable guy, give props to people when they deserve 'em.
Phones › How To: Configure Glo Gprs Settings On Iphones by texazzpete(op): 2:31pm On Feb 06, 2008
Got this working late last year, received a request from someone working in Glo customer care to provide my solution so here it is for y'all to try

By default, the iPhone has room only for entering APN, Username and Password for GPRS/Edge settings. It's relatively easy to configure it for GPRS on carriers that don't require port or proxy to work (Celtel, Mtn). However. Glo's GPRS settings needs you to input a proxy (10.100.98.22) and a port (3130) hence no GPRS love for Glo iphone users.

Here's a solution

Download and install iPhoneBrowser

http://iphonebrowser.googlecode.com/files/SetupiPhoneBrowser.1.52.exe

Download and Unzip this package
http://www.sendspace.com/file/e75g3j

it contains two files, proxy.pac and preferences.plist

Simply open iPhoneBrowser, use it to upload proxy.pac to /private/var/root
and preferences.plist to /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

Finally, on your iPhone go to Settings> General > Network > Edge and enter the glo APN, username and Password

As far as i know, it's
APN: glogwap
user: wap
password: wap

That's it! Lemme know if there are any issues.

I don't know what a Reservior engineer is. Reservior Engineers work closely with geologist and geophysicist thats all i know in oil fields. But it still does nt make you an Engineer anyway, because you are contributing nothing to the research and analysis reservior engineers do there. I'm not even sure you are one.You are still a glorified mechanic fixing and welding broken pipes for the company thats all.
Kindly ask your geologists or geophysicist friends how many pipes they weld. REs do little mechanical work, so your use of the term 'mechanic' is becoming tiresome. Stand back and listen to yourself go on and on.
I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but research and analysis is the meat of reservoir Engineering. What else can you do when what you're working on is usually greater than seven thousand feet below the earth's surface?

I see where your inferiority complex stems from. but let me tell you, at the end of your rant here on this forum, we both go on with our lives. only difference is I will remain an Engineer, while you will continue to burn with hate and bitterness towards Nigerians lucky enough to have a B.Eng.

it's patently clear you have little knowledge of what a Reservoir Engineer does. You do not even know what a hydrocarbon reservoir is!

The 'design' of a reservoir isn't done by 'whites' or 'blacks'. it's done by nature over millions of years, dummy.
The reservoirs i work on are thousands of feet below the earth's surface.

That's why you aren't an Engineer. You lack simple research skills.

You most be an olodo. Nigerian engineers are not competent, and what about that?? How many aircrafts have u designed and built in Nigeria? How many bridges and building have u designed and built without inviting foreigners or sending nigerians to go for training abroad?? Why can't we be independent??

Please stop parading yourself as an engineer because  Technicians in Europe, Japan, Korea and America are far better than you in engineering.

You are a glorified mechanic thats all.
You pathetic troll. I'm a Reservoir Engineer. That means i'm a Petroleum Engineer. I do my job and i do it well. As a petroleum Engineer neither myself or my counterparts around the world will ever be called to build aircraft or bridges.
I sincerely doubt that all technicians in Korea are better than myself in Reservoir Engineering  grin.

You, however, strike me as an embittered technician. YOU will NEVER be an engineer, hence your campaign to run all of us down. I have called you out on your stupid generalization, and you have failed to provide any meaningful answer.

Enough. I have wasted enough time on you.

Hmm. . .i wsn't aware that every single one of the hundreds of thousands of Engineering graduates and experienced Engineers in Nigeria were being sent to Denmark. That must be it, right?
because, if you judge EVERY Nigerian Engineer as incompetent just because a few were being sent overseas, that'd make you pretty foolish, wouldn't you say?

bawomol:
not that nigerians don't use it, but american engineers are usually more advanced due to their exposure to C++ and java programming from highschool(i barely saw computers in secondary school while in nigeria). i only learnt how to use matlab and linux in college. to get accredited as an engineer in the US, many engineerings have to take the PE and FE exams.

take a look at the ASME website and u would see a host of classes, tutorials and software packages easily available. do nigerian engineers have easy access to this.

http://www.asme.org/
The article wasn't about whether american engineers were on average more competent that their Nigerian counterparts. it was whether Nigerian Engineers were competent. Shame your comprehension skills lag behind your Engineering skills.
Career › Re: Nigerian Engineers Are Not Competent? by texazzpete(m): 5:00pm On Feb 05, 2008
@Ishmael
The problem we have in Nigeria is that retards like you tend to generalize without thinking.
YOU are not an engineer. You're a technician hence this campaign of calumny, this deliberate attempt to belittle the contribution of Engineers to our daily life.
The examples you provided are pathetic. Why speak about microchips and transistors when you know areas like this are not well taught in Nigerian universities? Why not speak about the thousands of Nigerian Engineers working in Chevron, Shell, Elf, Mobil, Schlumberger et al, using their brains to solve challenging problems and proffering new solutions?
Not all Nigerian Engineers are fresh out of University (admittedly their weakest period). Many of us have spent years working in environments where research and development is encouraged. We are competent in handling a myriad of issues that require Engineering solutions. As long as we remain Nigerians, we're Nigerian Engineers and we are competent.

To use the number of Engineers forced by a hostile society to act as technicians as a basis for genralization is frankly stupid, and you numerous replies have done little to sway the opinion I (and most definitely many others) have formed of you - An incredibly silly person with far too much time on his hands.

ishmael:
@oyb

You try. But is this design a new design?? because it looks like the one i saw in one text book recently. Please also help us tell your electrical colleagues to help us solve power (PHCN) issue in Nigeria.
When a Nigerian engineer comes up with proof to show his competence in an area, you question him. Yet we wonder why we aren't appreciated worldwide.
While you're at it, please tell your technician buddies to help solve power (PHCN) issue in Nigeria. Afterall, like you said, you Technicians get to do the dirty work.

Since you're so keen on painting the worst possible scenario, how about this:

"I had a friend who used backupmyphone.com. One day the server crashed and the site lost all his contact details. THE END"

It's not just N100. The GPRS charges used to back up photos, music, video etc, what happens then?

I'm far more concerned with giving a Nigerian company my private data.
For me, the best alternative is to sync with Outlook, export and upload to a web folder once-in-a-while.

but that's just me. If you haven't got a laptop or any other means to sync, then by all means this could be a good idea.

As for the 'not scared to lose my phone again' line, backup or not, that doesn't apply to me at all!

Politics › Re: Oil! Who Owns It Nigeria Or Niger-delta? by texazzpete(m): 9:20am On Feb 04, 2008
We are supposed to be ONE country with ONE shared vision. Yet we have a section of the country saying the resources found in that section should belong to them alone, the rest part can go starve.

is that logic?

When does this end? Not all communities in the ND have oil wells in them. ergo, soon the new division would be cash only coming to those communities that produce oil.
This then will default to cash being given in proportion of the wells in each community. . .and so on.

I re-iterate my earlier position. It's silly to ask what the north would have done if the oil was found in their territory; this never happened and we never will know for sure. All we know is that Nigeria is ONE country, and sale of crude provides the bulk of our income. The money is shared around all the 36 states,a nd a sizeable bonus (13%) is given to the areas where the oil is extracted from.

It is pure stupidity to say it's their business what they do with the money, when the crux of their complaints is they have no visible edifices to show for their oil producing status.

The ND should make concrete plans to break out of Nigeria to form their own country. But as long as they remain in the federal republic of Nigeria, they should realise that the oil belongs to Nigeria.

the N100 charge is deceptive, cos you've got to pay for the GPRS charges for the backup, anyway.

@doyindamus
hand the resources to the ND people alone, eh?
So what then happens to the approx 90 million Nigerians not from that region?
handouts? Crumbs?

@all
Cocoa was planted by westen farmers, weeded, mulched and fertilized by these same farmers. in times of disease, the farmers suffered, paid the price for the vagaries of nature. When the crop was ready these same farmers had to harvest, dry the pods, split the pods and get them ready for sale.
Ditto for northern farmers and their crop of groundnut.

Crude oil is formed over millions of years, with zero input from anyone living today. the exploration and production is done largelyy by people with expertise, most of which come from outside the ND due to the initial lack of emphasis on education by the people from that area. Why then can you compare this to the days of the cocoa farmers and the groundnut farmers? Did the sweat of the ND people generate this wealth?

I know what they mean by 'resource control'. it represents to them the unwarranted enjoyment of wealth with minimal input. this is why, for example, youths in Buguma (Rivers State) are paid a monthly 'salary' of N20000 for doing nothing at all (heard from a reliable source). This is what they hope to achieve from 'resource control'.

Dishonesty is the bane of the ND people. they keep parroting the amount of development in other states of the country, without acknowledging the real reasons why their states remain backwards. Had Alams used the N50 billion he stole to do something for bayelsa, who knows what edifices there we would have been talking about.

Stop being a fucking hypocrite. YOU'RE the only clear tribalist here.

The oil belongs to the federal republic of Nigeria, not the people of the South-South. in the interest of justice and development, they should get a special share of the oil cash.
but then again, that's what they are getting in terms of the 13% derivation. I support a small increase of that figure, but nowhere near the 50% they are talking about. Increasing this cash atronomically would only lead to starving the rest of Nigeria of funds while little developmemt takes place in the ND.

But then again, that's what they mean by resource control. take control of the oil and most of the profits and leave the rest of Nigeria to fend for themselves.
