BillGatesFan:Mamajama is anti-Adeboye. To you that means he's an Anti-Christ. That means in your eyes Adeboye = Christ. See how your lot slip into Blasphemy? Now please, show me anywhere in the New Testament where Jesus or the apostles said the House of God should be the biggest and most beautiful on earth. I myself can only pinpoint where Jesus and the apostles advised people to give their things to the poor to obtain spiritual treasure. But that isn't acceptable to you sheep, abi? |
bennnie:Another oft-used quote designed to stifle all opposition to the supreme will of the new-age pastors and 'men of God'. I'm pretty sure Rev. King has used this same quote in the past. After all, one man's Adeboye is another man's Rev. King/TB Joshua. @topic I've had cause in the past to lament the shameful neglect of the poor by Nigerian Christians. People deposit fat tithes with fanfare and then go home, open Vanguard newspaper and hurriedly skim over articles calling for donations to save the life of someone who needs a kidney transplant/heart surgery etc. I think Kobojunkie's attempt to remark on the apathy towards IBB's stolen loot as compared to the furore generated by this auditorium is seriously flawed. Religion is designed to give men hope, and it's always more troubling when there's suspicion that that hope is being capitalised on. At the very least, building such a magnificent edifice is misguided. we can already see redeemed members here proudly remarking that they have the biggest auditorium in the world. Is that the point? pride? The New Testament in the Bible is the guide to the New Covenant we find ourselves under, and far more emphasis is paid to giving your things to the poor than paying tithes or making the 'Man of God' very comfortable. Kobojunkie is just being mischievous when he says anything given to the poor will have little or no impact. There's no way several orphanages will not positively shape lives of the homeless babies forever, no way that boreholes willm not be of enormous benefit to people without water. Why scorn such measures to build an unneccessarily expensive edifice? Why would a church that babbles so much about Youth empowerment, why would a man who claims that God told him Nigeria will be the greatest nation in the world choose to forsake talents in Nigeria and select a chinese company to build the auditorium? If everyone follows his lead, is that how Nigeria will become great? Perhaps Jakumo was right. Sheep! Jesus tried to de-emphasize material things in favour of spiritually enriching things. I guess that doesn't suit Nigerians, does it? The more ostentatious, the better. If Jesus were to appear in Nigeria, he wouldn't be taken seriously if he wasn't driving an SUV and wearing a 3-piece suit. |
4peace:Lol! Typical Nigerian, all you can recommend is a Nokia phone. There are loads more 3G phones out there that aren't Nokia. It isn't a stretch to go from 3G to 3.5 G, the extra '.5G' being a simple software update to enable HSDPA. The pricing is what i'm concerned about, with MTNs 65k/kb being nothing but pure thievery. |
Why can't you guys see the main issues behind this post? The poster himself is a criminal. i mean, who else would buy a stolen phone (why else would he be told to hide it from the police?) man, i don't care if i look like a JJC or a sissy or mugu or anything! I buy from an established shop and walk away in broad daylight! Needless to say, i have no pity for the poster |
Deluded people here are shouting Blasphemy here not knowing that it is they who flirt with blasphemy by subconsciously attributing the reverence designed for God to their pastors. Nigerians have a long history of 'men of God' delivering false prophecies. Just for the Record. . .TB Joshua's people see him as a 'man of God'. Rev. King'sflock will probably accuse you all of blasphemy too. When the PFN was calling Joshua an occultist, how many of y'all started admonishing them for 'blaspheming against the word of God'? |
I want! instead of emails, please upload to a file sharing site like yousendit.com. Azanor, this goes for you too! |

ccaramel:now if only you'd just answer your phone when you're called. It's extremely irritating that i've called you thrice now, no answer. |
abstarr:You're actually quite unlucky. Celtel and MTN work easily on the iphone without the proxy crap. At least i'm sure of MTN. Glo actually needs more work, since you need to enter the proxy. You need to upload a modified preferences.plist file and a proxy.pac file with entries for the Glo proxy. Sound like greek? it's not THAT hard, took me about 20 mins to get it to work. Let me know if you're comforatble with uploading files to your iphone so i can send you the files. If you aren't then let me know if you're in lagos. I plan to hit there next week, so i can do it for you then. ccaramel:Thank God you said 'Most areas in Abuja'. Does the original poster live in abuja? |
lynxnoon:get a sense of humour, slowpoke. Sisi Eko:The stupidity is strong in the replies to this post. This is a JOKE, people! And it's funny as hell. I just wish all the sad sacks that want to dump on homosexuals can take their baggage elsewhere. You'd think people would realise this was a joke just by the fact that it's in the 'jokes' section of NL. . . |
Nigerians. . . there are HUNDREDS of sites out there where people share data and information FREE on the internet. For absolutely nothing you can get games, software, books and helpful tips out there. you can receive free Ubuntu Linux cds just by asking for it. And in most cases these services are free. I have no need of any free browsing crap you guys can churn out (Celtel GPRS sucks in PH, anyway). I'll restrict my focus to obtaining broadband internet connection in my house, use a wireless router and browse with wifi on either my HTC TYtn or my iPhone. But there are many people out there who need these features (if they exist). it's fucking childish for people to tease here, then ask others to mail them. Why? It doesn't cost any of you guys to deliver help to those who want it. Back up your claims with facts, release the info to people so they can use it. If not, why post about it here? If you've descended so low that you feel respect will be gained by acting smart on a public forum, i genuinely feel pity for y'all. |
Nairaland, as always, is full of self-righteous sonuvabitches! She did a bad thing and has shown remorse, why are all you people blabbing about her soul being doomed to hell? To all those talking about hell fire, i pity you. You cannot be christians, for any true Christian knows God has forgiven people before for murder (i.e King David), adultery etc. i do not support what she has done, but she needs to move on, to pull herself out of the mud. naturally, you guys are of no use to her. When i find the answer why Nigerians are so self-righteous, i'll be a satisfied man. |
Sijien:Do you really expect an answer? Ok, here's one: None Of Your Business! ![]() |
@Afam Keep your petty insults to yourself. I'm referring to your 'advice' to denex. If you have any problems with my opinions, at least attempt to disprove 'em without resorting to mudslinging. That is the intelligent man's approach, not the feeble jabs you keep throwing my way. |
I have worked on projects to earn Nigeria millions of dollars and to preserve the life of some of our natural resources. I personally paid taxes of over a million naira to date this year alone. All in all, i'd say i was a useful citizen indeed ![]() |
Why is no-one picking up on ONE important fact? Iran has always stated they have always sought nuclear power for peaceful aims. Yet this report you all eagerly accept says they 'halted' their nuclear weapons program in 2003. That indicates that as of four years ago they were actively seeking to develop nuclear weapons. Isnt that reason enough why people should be suspicious of their nuclear programme? Secondly, the nuclear weapons program was halted, not scrapped. It can be restarted at a moment's notice, and the report you guys extol as the 'truth' says these guys could technically create a nuclear weapon in 7 years time. The words 're-start' should give you an idea that this program is very much alive, only frozen in place. The report cannot even state confidently how long iran will maintain this freeze. So, why will the world not distrust this programme? |
alleno:The iPhone may not do many of these things out of the box (It can do GPRS out of the box, contrary to what you say) but it sure can do many things Nokia phones can't do. There is no Chinese version of the iPhone, unless of course you're calling a knockoff imitator a 'version' of the iPhone. Not the same thing. And yes, it's worth the Hype. It's $399 only, compared to $700 for the Nokia N95. Go figure. |
belabela:Don't be daft. So we should follow like sheep just because someone mentioned the word 'God' abi? We only6 have the pastor's word for it that God told him so, so why should we automatically assume that it must be a divine message simply because he said so? We've had experience in Nigeria with this sort of thing. We've had Tunde bakare delivering divine prophecies that never came to pass (Obasanjo never seeing out his second term, anyone?), we've had Pastor Chris Okotie saying that God told him he'd rule Nigeria. We know what happened, don't we? We've also been told here that this same man announced that God told him that Osoba would return as governor in 2003. What happened? This is why sometimes i despair of Nigerians. Many times in the past people have given flawed 'prophecies', claiming that God delivered the messages to them. We've all seen how these went. I don't know about you, but the God i serve does not make mistakes. Finally, it's clear to all but the most deluded that any improvement Nigeria is making is minimal. We're stagnating in place, and our infrastructure is getting worse. the Yahoo Yahoo generation will ensure that this current crop of Nigerians will be more corrupt than their elders. Couple out spiralling population, our over-dependence on non-renewable crude and our corruption and it's clear that this 'greatest nation in the world' stuff is just a pile of bull. We can be great, if we get our acts together. The Greatest? C'mon, man! |
nkc:Forgive me if i don not explode in happiness if my SMS gets sent out faster and i can check my balance in 2 secs. These probably are happening as a result of improves QoS (Quality of service) from the existing 2G GSM infrastructure and not from 3G. |
nkc:Calls and texts are turbo speed? No offense mate, but if you think those are the gains of 3g. . . |
alleno:You really don't know much about the current state of 3rd party apps on the iphone, do you? 1) There's GPRS. WTH? I've used glo and mtn gprs on the iphone before 2) There are 3rd party apps to import contacts from sim card, to import ringtones (free), to forward SMS and send multiple SMS 3) there are numerous games available offline for the iphone, including solitaire, sudoku, snake and many others. On the way are 3d games. Also the iphone has a nes and gameboy advance emulators working pretty well onit, and playstation and SNES emus are being worked on right now. I'd say gamng is well covered already In summary, you need to do more with your iphone. The world has moved on and left you behind. catch up! |
If only these lazy telecoms bastards could roll out their 3G offerings early enough, we'd all have mobile broadband. . . |
How much money do you have? get a core 2 duo processor, 2GB RAM, 200GB hdd and if you're a gamer grab the NVIDIA Geforce 8800GT card (costs about $200). Might cost you a decent sum, but i feel you can swing all this for about 55k. . .and then you'll have a powerful machine that can run all the latest games at high settings. |
There's only one answer to the initial question 'What is in it for Israel' SURVIVAL. It's always amusing when fat cats on NL who have never lived in a truly hostile environment start pontificating about what Israel is doing wrong. Why would someone in his right mind start criticising the proliferation of roadblocks in Israel when he knows they are surrounded by thousands of would-be suicide bombers? Go ask why the Abia state residents supported the rise of the Bakassi boys with their style of jungle justice. |
@jakumo I will always remember you with fondness for making me laugh out loud. i will always hate you also for making me laugh aloud at work (don't ask me why i'm on NL at work )Not sure i agree with ALL your points, but funny as hell, nonetheless. |
@Kobo Now i'm back in town so we can deal. Let me know the other payment details via email |
Guys, Need some info. i bought some shares in the Globe Re-insurance Private Offer (80k) some months back. Now they've merged with continental re-insurance (which is on the LIST, i might add). question is, how does that affect my shares in Globe reinsurance? Need some help on this, people! |

Guys, i've gotten my paws on PES 2008 for PC. I'll be in Lagos early december, so all y'all lagos peeps who want it should let me know. |
There's nothing new here. I can easily watch live streaming TV with my HTC TyTN, and i can watch the full collection of Youtube vids with my iphone. it doesn't take 'brain' as the original poster would have you believe. all you need is a Wifi connection for decent speeds 9and low cost!) |
Someone sent this to me today. it makes for an interesting rant indeed. The Morning After Much as Obasanjo and his gang members literally stabbed their fingers into our eyes, we have refused to rise in defence of our rights. Rather, we remained committed to our only goal. That goal was simple: To see Obasanjo’s back. We knew that even if Obasanjo handed the president’s job to Iyabo, his daughter, put Femi Otedola in charge of NNPC, made Anenih minister of finance (with oversight function for Works), made Bode George Chief of Staff (with concurrent responsibility as PDP chairman) and then send all pigs and chickens in his farm to go and take up all the seats in the National Assembly, we would still not fight. We would just let him go first and thereafter, we would begin the battle to rescue our country from his clowns and puppets, even if he was still pulling the strings from Ota, Ibogun or wherever he might be. Everyone seemed to have been agreed on this. And that was why, no matter what Obasanjo did to annoy us in his last days, we refused to get angry. When he rigged the election and told us he had no regret for his actions, we pretended like we did not hear him. When he, without prompting, exposed his own underhand dealing with the PTDF money, we just moped. When he swept his own case aside and began to pursue Atiku, who stole much less money than he did, we all agreed with him that he was fighting corruption. When he left the governor who squandered over N800 billion (and another who made one fell swoop contribution of N15 billion to party campaign) to hound those who spent N2 billion in seven-and-half years running government house in Umuahia, we cheered him on rather than spit at him. When he hounded SLOK Airline to clear the way for two other airlines where he and one of his sons separately had appreciable share-holding, we agreed with him that he was sanitizing the local aviation industry – even when we knew that he had allowed his friend to operate in the same industry with only one aircraft. When he cancelled GSM licences awarded by the Abacha regime and re-awarded them, we sang his praise that he had opened up the telecom sector – even when we know that the reason Mike Adenuga Jnr. was hounded out of the country was because he refused to invest in the rival Transcorp shibboleth in which the presidency had interest (and not because of any spurious PTDF fund). When the man suddenly woke up, about three weeks ago, and started sharing out what was left of our national heritage to his cronies, we agreed with him that it was privatization and divestment. When our refineries, AP shares, Stallion House and oil blocks went in quick succession to the same set of people, we did not rise to burn down anything as Obasanjo would have expected. Rather, we agreed with him that it followed due process. We have held our peace as Lagos/Benin road and the Onitsha/Owerri/Port Harcourt roads degenerated to something worse than Obasanjo met them. We’ve agreed with him that he has delivered on infrastructure. My late father always said that ‘yes sir’ never brings any problems, that it is ‘no sir’ that leads to katakata. So, we all chorused ‘yes sir’ as we watched Obasanjo lie through his teeth over all the goodies his administration has given us. It was okay, if that would make him go and leave our country intact. They said he stabilized the country, but up to this moment, I am yet to see what regime – military or civilian – before him that gave hoodlums so much free reign. As for coup d’etats, but for the fact that we Nigerians, civilians and military alike, had made up our minds long before now that we no longer want military interventions, the Obasanjo years – beginning from when he imposed Evan Enwerem on the Senate to the last-minute sale of our national patrimonies – was an unending invitation to military coup. Or how else do we describe a democracy that took little or no cognizance of the operative Constitution? As if that was not enough, with 72 hours to when he was billed to reluctantly hand over, he played his last card. He jerked up pump price of petroleum products, with petrol hitting a record high of N75.00 per litre. Ordinarily, barricades and bonfires would have gone up on every major street by now. But none of that is happening – another disappointment for the Owu man. Ordinarily, there would have been some form of negotiations before the new rate was arrived at. But there was nothing of that nature. Obasanjo just wanted to cause maximum dislocation to the polity – possibly as a last trump card for the creation of an atmosphere for emergency rule. It would have worked, if not that we knew what he was playing at. We were all aware of the plot. So, in spite of all his pranks, we gladly played the fool. Rather than taking to the streets to protest the latest hike, we chose to pay – even if grumblingly, knowing that it was a matter of time before the Obasanjo cup would pass over us. Obasanjo might have hiked the price either because he was not paying for fuel directly from his pocket and, therefore, did not know the monumental dislocation an extra N10 causes to our individual domestic budgets, or because he wants to punish Labour for daring to challenge him. But I must remind him that the country does not give free-of-charge fuel to ex-presidents any longer. That irrespective of how much difference his 8-year sojourn in Aso Rock might have made to the financial predicament he came home to on his release from prison in 1998, the pinch of this new fuel regime would sooner than later get to him. Although our elders say that the baby bent on denying its mother sleep must be prepared to remain awake too, I feel it would be rather insulting to refer to an Obasanjo - who is officially 70, but whose age-mates are 78 – as a child. So, I would rather borrow from the repertoire of the cocoa farmer, knowing that Obasanjo is himself a farmer. The Yoruba say that the cocoa dryer and his coca beans inevitably dry together. So, my dear ex-president (and you better begin to get used to ‘ex’ suffix) since you have decided to punish we your critics with this wicked parting gift, may I remind you that you and I and all the other poor masses of this country, would pay this your new N75 per litre. But unlike the rest of us who would only have the bills to contend with, your own case would be different, for everyone who purchases at this new price would know you decided to bleed him for no just cause. And he would send the appropriate curse to you in your retirement. And knowing how pained we are, there just could be enough curse to last you, your children and your children’s children. It’s that bad. DISCLAIMER: These views are not mine. They are strictly the opinions of the unknown writer. |
